Kelly shot our wedding this September at Pendarvis Farm and did a fantastic job! We both hate having our pictures taken but she did a great job at making us not only feel comfortable but we had a blast doing it. She knew the venue (which was HUGE) and she got amazing shots all over the venue. The candid shots were so unique and beautiful and FUN, and the shots of us were so beautiful and wonderfully done as well. Kelly was also great at getting in touch with us before the event to make sure everything was squared away -- super organized and great communication.I couldn't be happier with our decision to have her shoot our wedding and would highly recommend her to anyone searching for a creative, fun and skilled photographer!

I hired Kelly from June Lion to take headshots. Initially, I was a bit nervous when I arrived at her home because I thought I would be in a studio setting. Actually, it was the perfect venue because it was warm and inviting. She made the experience fun and comfortable. I hate getting my pictures taken and have the most unnatural, awkward smile in most of my pictures. But, Kelly gave really good direction and tips about how to look and feel natural, which really came across in the pictures themselves. I was very satisfied with her work product and would highly recommend her.

Kelly was great!! She was incredibly communicative through the whole process and answered all my questions right away. I was very nervous about having our photos taken, as I tend to get awkward, but she was approachable and put us at ease. She had a lot of great ideas of where to take pictures. I think if we had wanted to, she would have loved to do something really dramatic and crazy! Our pictures turned out fantastic, and she sent them in a really cute package. It was obvious that she was excited about making the whole photography part of the wedding a great experience, and she didn't skimp even though we had a very small weekday wedding.

We knew we wanted to invest in photography and were very taken by her way of capturing little candid moments amidst the more standard portraits and posed shots. She was very communicative throughout the process. She definitely knows what she's doing and could shoot well in all the various lighting situations at our venue. We just got our photos back and cant' wait to look through them in more detail!

Although I contacted her last minute, she was able to rearrange her schedule and accommodate our request to shoot our family photos on the coast. Kelly is a photo ninja. She is everywhere at the same time, catching all of the the little moments that flit by and you think (there is no way she saw that) She not only saw it but totally nailed the shot! I am obsessed with her images of my family. My kids jump out of her images as their own little eclectic, squirrely, brilliant litle selves, and as she puts it she made pictures of me that "I don't hate" A real feat! You don't have to look any further. You've found your photographer. Kelly has an eye for all the things you don't see. She's a photographic ninja. Nabbing intimate moments and disappearing before anyone has a chance to put on their cheesy "smile" faces. Leading up to the wedding I warned her that when I'm laughing really hard I make a horrible horse face. And when I cry (and there was a looooooot of that) it can be even worse. I told her "I'm not too self conscious about it so just do the best you can" but somehow she managed to make my horrible faces seem emotional and sweet and wonderful. It's easy to look at all the wedding photos of attractive, stylish, slender couples and think "well, of course THEIR photos look good but I'm chubby and I sweat a lot when I get excited and I make those horrible horse faces when I laugh really hard." You don't have to worry about that with her. Nothing phases Kelly. She rolls with the punches, experiments and explores, she's passionate about documenting your day and making you look as awesome as you are. Don't think she won't make you work for it though. She's been doing this a long time and while you're walking around in a daze of bliss and conversations and hugs and attention she's keeping her eye on the clock to make sure you stay on schedule. You'll be so tired you'll want to say, "meh, f@$# the portraits I'm feeling overwhelmed and just want to sit here." but she won't let you because she knows, after a good night's sleep you'll be kicking yourselves for the next 50 years for not taking 10 minutes to do them. And then you'll see the photos and how amazing you look and you'll know without a doubt that it was worth every penny 10 times over!

To say that Kelly is phenomenal at what she does, is the biggest understatement. I stumbled upon her work while researching venues and fell in love with her more journalistic approach to photography. She has this way of capturing the moments during your wedding that you didn't even know happened or carried so much emotion. I booked Kelly in early 2016 for our August 2017 wedding, and just got another email from her today. She has not only put up with us for that long, but has been the most kind, compassionate, understanding, above-and-beyond human we could have ever asked for in a wedding photographer. My husband isn't one to love photo shoots and he has told me repeatedly how comfortable Kelly made him feel during both our engagement session and wedding. She has a way of making you forget any bit of the awkwardness that you might be worried about. Looking at our wedding photos had us laughing, crying, and laughing so hard we were crying. Photos have the magical ability to recall the sights, sounds, smells, and emotions of a moment. And they can transport you, even if you were never there in the first place, which was super important to us since many of our friends and family members were not able to join us for our wedding day. Kelly was a dream to work with! We wanted to be able to relive the laughter, the heat (it was over 95 degrees in Hood River and Mt. Hood was on fire!), the music, the loving hugs from all our friends and family, the smells of the food and the flowers, the tears that were gingerly wiped from the corners of eyes during our vows and the toasts, the unique setting where we chose to get married, and the people who joined us to make it an amazing day. Kelly understood our vision and she made it a reality. She heard our request to avoid boring, traditional posed pictures, so even our family photos come alive with the personalities of the people in them. Her work is real and makes you feel like you are a part of the day's activities, even if you were never actually there. At least that's what our friends and family who couldn't attend tell us. They were so grateful that we had such wonderful photos to share and we were so grateful to be able to share them! Fast forward a couple of years and we welcomed Kelly into our home to do a family photo shoot with our 9-month old baby girl. She documented this chapter in our life with a tender, fun-loving, and creative eye. We are so happy to have such beautiful shots of our little family and she really brought out the best in all of us. I love looking at the sweet moments I share every day with my daughter, but never get to see (like nuzzling her cheeks and making her giggle) and I get teary looking at the photos of my husband playing guitar to his daughter and tossing her above his head to make her thrill with laughter. Babies grow into toddlers, who grow into big kids, who grow into teens, and before you know it they're heading out the door on their own. Even at 9-months it feels like life is moving at the speed of light! We are so happy that Kelly photographed us as we are at this moment is our lives. The photos she has taken of our family, both at our wedding and of our little family, bring sweet smiles to our faces every time we look at them. What more can you ask for?

We loved Kelly! I hired Kelly for a family session and am thrilled with the moments she captured for us. When we arrived at our photoshoot destination it was windy, 30 degrees, and the hiking trail was icy, but that didn't stop Kelly from getting amazing shots of us. Kelly photographed our wedding over the course of two days (one for the ceremony and the other for the reception). We could not have been happier with her and her work! She was such a pleasure to work with on so many different levels. She quickly and happily answered any and all questions we had, even ones about lip gloss and shoe choices; she was flexible and accommodating when our ceremony was over an hour late; she chatted with us while she was doing portraits and made us feel totally comfortable and at ease, and she was completely patient with my unruly family who wanted a group shot but is virtually incapable of focusing long enough for a picture to be taken. One of our favorite aspects of Kelly's style is that her photos are fun action shots, the kind that you see in magazines and wonder how the photographer ever got them. By now, we have gotten used to Kelly asking us to do seemingly quirky poses because they result in the kind of amazing photos that routinely become our Christmas cards. Even a sassy, can't-sit-still, don't-tell-me-what-to-do toddler is no obstacle for Kelly. It seemed like we spent our most recent photo shoot doing nothing but chasing such a toddler around the park, yet Kelly produced the most incredible photos. On the practical side, you really cannot ask for a better photographer if you have children. Kelly will sing, play games and otherwise entertain the children until she gets her shot. Our child's school brings in a popular and accomplished photographer to take pictures of the children every year, and those photos don't hold a candle to Kelly's. Kelly came highly recommended to us and we have never been disappointed. Consider yourself lucky if you get to work with her.

As you plan a wedding, it's inevitable that you make a list of what's most important to you and your future spouse. For my wife and I, pictures were V important. V, V important. I'm talking way up on the top of our priority list. We did our fair share of searching for photographers in the Portland area and there were truly plenty of super talented options. June Lion caught our eye because stylistically it fit the kind of photography that my wife and I preferred. What we loved most about Kelly, though, was that she had a way of capturing the love of every couple or family that she took photos of. Her candids never felt staged and you could see that she spent the time getting to know her clients. For us, those unplanned silly, special, romantic moments were the things we truly wanted captured on our wedding day. We knew that we couldn't possibly get to spend tons of quality time with all of our guests but wanted a window into their experience at our wedding. Kelly and her team at June Lion, more than delivered on our ask of photographing those moments. We have a 3 year old son. We went into the day with low expectations how well he would participate. He did amazing. Because of June Lion, we get to relive the adorable time capsules of our first look with him, our first family dance, seeing him walk down the aisle as the ring bearer, and more! Aside from the candids, Kelly also made us look like straight up super models. I've never felt more beautiful and now have profile pictures for the rest of my life! She found the perfect lighting and backdrop in every square inch of our venue and neither one of us felt uncomfortable with her photo direction. In summation, if you are searching for a great photographer, Kelly is worth every penny. She worked with us on keeping costs down and was always transparent about the kind of options we could have for the day. She really tailored her services for our budget and needs and never pushed us into spending more than we were comfortable spending. From an artistic, technical and creative standpoint, she knows her stuff. What makes her stand out above that is that she truly cares about delivering incredibly personable high-quality photographs that will last a lifetime. I'd recommend her over and over and over if I could. She'll definitely be our new family photography for many years to come.

Our experience with Kelly was top notch, to say the least! When looking for photographers I found Kelly immediately when googling photos of our wedding venue, the Sou’wester. Her style blew me away and I knew that it would be a great fit. We then hired Kelly to do an in home engagement session back in March and it really captured the essence of our lives in Portland and what a real Sunday afternoon might look like for us. She is funny, honest and very real which comes through in her photography. Special moments are something she excels in capturing which made us really excited for her to be there on our wedding day in August. I feel so incredibly lucky to have found Kelly 7 years ago when we were looking for a wedding photographer. When we met with her in 2012, I knew instantly that she was going to be the best fit for us--it felt like I had known her already when we first met. She is easy-going, funny, bright, flexible, creative--and her photography is absolutely incredible. Kelly was referred to me by another photographer who used to live in Portland. It's a good sign when another photographer recommends a fellow photographer. I looked at her website and liked her style so I contacted her. She was very quick to respond and professional. We've had a great photo session with Kelly. She was willing to jump around and work with our two dogs who were semi-cooperative during the photo shoot. She had no problem making "whoot whoot" sound or whatever it took to get the doggies to look at the camera. She has a good energy without being too pushy. That's a good balance for a photographer. I got back her photos and am very happy with the results. She's got a sort of magazine contemporary style without looking too pop-artsy. . .and good color without oversaturation. . . that's how I would describe her photos. Hiring June Lion to photograph my wedding was one of the best decisions I made. She’s genuinely nice, a pleasure to work with, and a professional. When we told her about our quirky wedding plans, she didn’t bat an eye. Instead, she used her years of experience to help us figure out the schedule and logistics. On the day of the wedding she proved to be flexible amidst the chaos, adapting to any curve balls the weather and venue threw at her (we had our ceremony at a muddy hiking trail in Portland in November). She gave clear direction for poses and action shots, but also managed to be a total ninja to capture those raw, candid moments. The edited photos were presented to us in a timely manner and I cherish each and every single photo (almost 800!). Each one tells a story and evokes an emotional response, and I could stare at them for hours.
