Khoa and Emily are such a pleasure to work with! My fiance and I took our engagement photos in Old City, PA and Khoa was our photographer. He was very warm and engaging during the shoot and really made it a fun experience. He definitely has that creative eye one looks for in a photog. If you want pictures retouched (imperfects removed) be sure to discuss that in advance. Overall, we definitely recommend this company!

We first saw Emily and her assistant in action at a friend's wedding and were so impressed that we booked her for our wedding! We weren't disappointed. Emily understands the unique personality of each couple and tailors her style to fit accordingly. She provided great, encouraging direction to us on our wedding day and had a number of helpful suggestions. She was punctual and friendly, but not obtrusive. A number of our wedding guests commented on how "on point" she and her assistant were during the reception. It can be nerve-wracking to book someone without seeing them in action but we highly recommend that you trust Emily and her photojournalistic style to capture all the fun, beautiful, and touching moments of your wedding day!

PLEASE READ!!! Find another photographer who is honest, who answers emails and actually cares about the finished product!! Spend your hard earned money somewhere else! My fiance and I are very disappointed in the service we received from Khoa at 1314 Studios following our engagement photo shoot. Before I go into the details of what the issue is, I will acknowledge the fact that we were late to the shoot due to unforeseen circumstances (makeup artist going over her time & an accident which caused traffic). Khoa accommodated us by giving us more time to complete the shoot. We appreciate his willingness to do that and we've expressed our gratitude to him. Here's the problem, which we realized AFTER receiving our photos: During the shoot, Khoa did not communicate any changes that we should have made to make the photos look more polished. After taking each photo he would look at his camera and review it, and he failed communicate some MAJOR problems that ended up affecting the look of the majority of our photos. Make up was completely rubbed off a portion of my fiance's forehead and he didn't say anything even though it is blatantly obvious in the photos. IT GET'S WORSE: Khoa sent us our photos a few days later with the obvious discoloration on my fiance's face. As we scrolled through the pictures, we were shocked at the fact that he didn't deem it necessary to SAY SOMETHING about it during the shoot. We reached out to him and he initially said there's nothing he can do about editing the photos. Then he offered to give us a re-do of the shoot for 1 hour. That was about 2 months ago. This re-do has never happened. Since then, we have not heard from Khoa. He is not responding to our emails and his DISHONESTY and LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE are deplorable. Why offer something to your customers who have already paid you $500 if you have zero intention of honoring your word? Again folks, spend your hard earned money elsewhere. Now we have to spend more money to have our engagement photos edited or retaken.

We absolutely loved the pictures Emily took and are very happy with our choice of photographer! We had a very small wedding at home with the registrar and some close family and friends. Emily did a great job of making the wedding look super chic and cosy. She made great use of the space and gave us a lot of tips/poses to get us comfortable for the couple pictures. The light was not easy to work with since there were a lot of shadows in the space and the job she did in the final pictures was definitely commendable Everyone has complimented the pictures and we find it difficult to choose the best to frame since they are all so good! She also captured some good candid moments. Emily is also very responsive in her communications and was very punctual with her time on the day of the wedding. I had to mention it- since we were late by 30 minutes while she waited patiently for us. We highly recommend her services.

My fiancé and I are both absolutely delighted with the photos - they are better than anything we could have possibly imagined and we are thrilled to have something that we can cherish and keep forever to remind us of this happy time in our lives. Since we were visiting from the UK, we only had a limited amount of time to do the shoot, but when the weather turned out poor, Khoa was flexible and worked with us to rearrange so that we would have the best weather conditions for our shoot. Khoa was extremely friendly and made us feel instantly at ease - as a result, the photos look natural and show how relaxed we felt. As it was our first experience being photographed like this, we were unsure what to expect, but in addition to receiving fantastic photos, we also had great fun on the shoot! We looked at dozens of photographers before finding Khoa on google for our engagement and wedding shoots. Khoa was very quick to reply and met us at our convenience (late at night after shooting entire day!), which we thought was not just professional, but also showed his personal interest in our photography. Having odd working hours, my fiancee and I weren't able to keep the decided time for our engagement shoot. Khoa was very cooperative and accommodated us at the time of our choosing, which is very impressive given how busy he is. Our engagement shoot went like a breeze, we were made to feel very comfortable by Khoa and we could see that he was as enthusiastic about the shoot as we were. I came across 1314 Studio's website while googling my wedding venue, and loved the work that Emily did for a previous wedding at McLoone's Pier House. I received a prompt reply from my inquiry and from then on Emily was easily accessible and a dream to work with. She answered all of my questions and provided wonderful suggestions as well. I loved Emily's artistic style of photography! Before the wedding day, she suggested that I use Pinterest to call her attention to some styles or photo set ups that I liked. Coincidentally, I pinned most of her own photography. On the wedding day, Emily and Hal were calm, unobtrusive, and got beautiful shots and angles. One of my guests even complimented me on Emily's ability to get guests together for shots while being polite and not at all pushy. I received the photos about a month after the wedding day and got a beautiful post on 1314 Studio's blog, a slideshow with 100 photos set to a great song, a proof gallery, and a USB stick. I am IN LOVE with how the photos came out and received so many compliments. A lot of the photos that I liked best, I didn't even remember taking! Emily and Hal know what setups, lighting, and angles to use and were so creative. We got married on the beach and those photos were incredible. We chose 1314 studio for our engagement photoshoot and we are so glad that we made this choice!! Right from the time we contacted them , they were very prompt and very accommodating to our needs. Our photographer was Khoa and he is great with his work. We especially loved the candid shots he took and looking at the pictures he was able to really catch the perfect emotions. At the beginning of the shoot we were slightly nervous and camera shy but he made the whole process comfortable , fun and a memorable one. I LOVE THEIR PICTURES AND SO DO MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS!!! We got married on May 11, 2015 and I still cannot stop looking at my wedding pictures EVERYDAY :-) We got married in the States, but my whole family lives in Poland, and only my mom could attend our civil wedding ceremony. Most of my husband's family lives in Peru, so it was very important to both of us to be able to share great pictures from this special day with our family and friends, who couldn't be with us. We didn't have much time for planning everything. We got in touch with KHOA on May 3, kind of last minute, we've never seen or known each other before ... It's a long story, but he was referred to us by another photographer who was not available on that day :-) KHOA was just AWESOME. He showed up early to look around and 'get to know' the location, handled the bright sun perfectly, and captured the most important and intimate moments of the ceremony. We have beautiful pictures that are admired by everybody!!! Thank you so much!!!

We were in search of a photographer and were getting recommendations from friends based on the photographers they had used for their engagement shoot. We loved Emily's work and what she had done for my friend's shoot and had her on top of our list of photographers. We had a very busy schedule due to work and moving, so we were reaching out to photographers on our list via email. We found Emily the most responsive and without having met her once or even a phone call, we were able to communicate and have discussions virtually. She understood exactly what we were looking for. We were able to get a date scheduled for a shoot in NYC within the date range we wanted. When the shoot date came, we had a quick first intro and comfortably began our photo shoot. Khoa Nguyen, photographer is a fraud. He lost my sister's wedding photos and video. He arrived late to her ceremony and missed a lot of it. He was impatient and rushed us throughout the event. Then he only gave her pictures taken at the ceremony and non at the reception. He gave excuses for not having her reception pictures ready and ignored her emails/calls. He continued to ignore her calls for a while so she took him to Philadelphia Municipal Court, and he was ordered to pay a portion of the fee back. Then he sent her a false check. So she reported him to the court again and they sent police men to his house in order for him to pay her. I think you can check his court records at Philadelphia Municipal Court. Now my sister doesn't have pictures to look back to one of her most treasured memories. I doubt most of the 5 -Star-Reviews here are from real customers. This is my response to the owner's response stated below: You claimed not to be yourself Khoa, which means you were not present at my sister's wedding. How did you know what happened?

I stumbled upon 1314 Studios while I was looking for a photographer for my engagement shoot. I was looking for a photographer who was flexible as I had a few of my own ideas for the shoot. Although I was initially skeptical about how Emily would receive my ideas, she quashed all my doubts the moment I met her. She went out of her way to meet me and discuss about the photoshoot rather than having her own agenda. Emily even suggested us what type of clothes to wear for the shoot. The actual photoshoot itself turned out be a pleasant experience for us, especially since my fiance is camera shy. She showed up before time and waited for us patiently. She knew exactly what to extract from the 3 hour engagement. She planned the three hour shoot to perfection. She kept clicking as we had fun posing for the camera. As soon as I was able to (after I got engaged in September 2015), I connected with 1314 via email to inquiry about my fiance and I doing our engagement photo shoot with them. From the very first email I received from Khoa and Emily, there was no doubt in my mind that I chose the right place :) They were both extremely professional and took their time to answer my one million and one questions thoughtfully and clearly, leaving no room for confusion/uncertainty. Once we decided on Hoboken being our location and November being our month to do this - they continued their professionalism by clearly outlining how the day would go. We explained to them that we wanted both daytime photos (shot in our casual attire) and evening photos (shot in our more dressy/fancy attire) and they were accommodating and more than willing to work with us. The day finally came -- Both Khoa and Emily were on time and ready to go which made for an easy, relaxed (not-rushed) start. They had already scoped out the locations were we'd take our photos (prior to our meeting) so moving from location to location within Hoboken was no issue at all. At first, my fiance and I were nervous about being in front of the camera and the first few shots we took were a bit "stiff looking" and not natural whatsoever. But with Khoa's and Emily's patience, guidance and sense of humor, my fiance and I were able to open up, relax and just have fun :) They didn't rush the shoot, were patient while we changed our clothes from casual to formal and at no point did they seem "too tired or too lazy" to make sure they got only the best shots out of us. If a shot wasn't good - they would ask us to redo it until it was perfect !! When the photos were ready and sent to us via email - they were PERFECTLY edited/re-touched. We look like a better version of ourselves. The photos weren't heavily photo shopped/edited which my fiance and I loved. I would recommend 1314 Studio to any friends, family or complete strangers. My family and I had a great experience getting our family session done. Khoa was very personable and approachable. We had to reschedule our portraits one time due to personal reasons and he was very flexible with rescheduling. The family photos came back better than I can ever imagine. We got back our proofs in approximately 1.5 weeks, because he knew I was preparing for my daughter's first birthday party and I wanted to display the pictures on her dessert table. Finding a photographer was one of the most important things on my wedding planning to-do list. I wanted to find a photographer that would do both an engagement shoot and our wedding day. I found Emily’s website and was just awed at her previous work. I had done a lot of research and found that some major photographers had some less than desirable work: cheesy poses, uninspiring shots, and nothing really memorable. I loved looking through Emily’s website, each style of photography looked like it was best suited for each client. We emailed and set up a date to meet. She was always really quick to reply to emails and was very detailed in asking us what we wanted from her. On the day of the wedding she and her assistant Hal showed up promptly (they were actually early, getting a feel for our ceremony and reception location). We had done the engagement shoot with her so were already comfortable with what she’d do and what she’d ask of us, but she was also such a calming presence I felt like she was just another family member. During the reception, I didn’t even realize she was there taking pictures, she was so unobtrusive. I’ve been to weddings where a photographer shoved me off a dance floor to take a picture. A few weeks after the wedding we received a link to a slideshow page set to a song that you can share with friends and family. She’ll then give you a link to the proofs where you can choose which photos you’d like for your wedding album. I recommend adding the wedding album on to your package. The quality is amazing and worth it. I believe most photographers will stop there, requiring you to buy proofs from them. Emily actually gives you your pictures (I mean…you already paid for them!) in a flash drive. It came in a beautiful keepsake box. Even the jump drive was specially made with our names on it and the date of our wedding. I cannot recommend Emily and 1314 Studio enough. I had faith that I’d love our photographs, and I was not disappointed.

Our photography experience was amazing thanks to Khoa & Emily's fine work. My fiancé and I are usually clueless on how to pose for the camera, but Khoa & Emily made us both not feel intimidated and learn to love posing for the camera! His work is clear and precise, and I love the way he is able to create images that are bright and vivid. Here is our experience! Before wedding day: We first inquired with Khoa to shoot our wedding day, and although we couldn't meet in person, he was flexible to chat over the phone. He even had his teammate phone, Hendrick, on the phone call. As a bride, you really want to get to "know" your wedding team and this was perfect. We had a connection right away, and this connection continued through the wedding process and the wedding day, and even now months after the wedding. He patiently listened to our wedding vision, gave helpful advice, and relayed all this information to his other main shooter, Hendrick. On wedding day: They arrived promptly, of course. Hendrick showed up, and quickly intro'd me to the rest of the team, who were all friendly and cordial, never intimidating. That morning I was so frazzled with hair/makeup, breakfast, my "first look", and overall mood and anxiety -- but once Hendrick and the rest of the team showed up, I immediately felt at ease. He coached me to pose like this and like that. Then it was time to head to the park for outdoor photos -- and Hendrick and team drove my groom and the guys to get started, so that the girls and myself could have the limo to ourselves and meet them at the park. What smart thinking!!! Arrival to venue: Our families met us there, and previously one of our main requests was to have someone speaking the language with our elders. Hendrick was perfect and was not afraid to shout instructions in Chinese at our guests, at our request! Needless to say, the night flew by, and the team, Hendrick all stayed way past the contracted time, just to chat, finish last minute shots, and hang out. It is important to note here that Khoa showed up despite it being late at night, and although he was booked elsewhere on our particular date -- what kind of photog/friend/team leader does that? THIS GUY! Dedication, passion, and commitment sums it up. Post-wedding/Delivery: Khoa delivered ALL photos in less than 3 weeks. UNDER ONE MONTH!!! All photos were crisp, brilliant, and sharp. Between Hendrick and the other shooters, they captured things we did not even get to see on our own wedding day, so very thankful for that. Then, I decided to get two parents' albums and Khoa tirelessly helped arrange and rearrange the photos into the beautiful leather albums. TL;DR: Please see for yourself and send an inquiry to 1314 & Khoa -- if they are available for your date, do not hesitate, book them because you will have the best friendly team who will produce the most amazing photos for your wedding day!!!

This review is long overdue and well deserved! My husband and I got married in October 2016, and our photographers for the big day were Khoa Nguyen and Hendrick Moy. From the get go, these guys were so accommodating and considerate! The team over at 1314 studios always answered my emails in a timely manner, and my photographers were always super responsive as well. Khoa touched base with me several times before the big day, and each time, he actually listened to what I had to say. When I requested to meet with Hendrick, even though we live in different states, he made it possible to speak in person, which was important for me and my husband because we wanted to make sure we were comfortable around our photographers. On the day of wedding, both Khoa and Hendrick respected the fact that we wanted to try to stay on track with our schedule… but we all know that never happens with weddings! As crazy as the day got, Khoa & Hendrick made shooting with them super fun and never awkward. Also, we had incorporated some cultural traditions that they were so respectful about, and of which they captured so nicely. They’re such genuine, talented people, and I was so happy to have them photographing our wedding. The quality of their work is top notch, and their prices are extremely reasonable. Book them now! I have had a bad experience in the past with a different photographer for my wedding photos. I never got any photos done after that, not even pregnancy or newborn photos. My daughter is turning one soon and I wanted to take some family portraits. I told Khoa that I was terrible at posing and he told me not to worry and to leave it up to him. I wanted to take outdoor photos not in the city and Khoa suggested a Cathedral near our house during sunset. Khoa took pictures of my husband, baby, and me. We are so glad we chose 1314 Studio for our wedding. We first met Khoa at his studio in Central NJ and he was professional and well prepared for the meeting. He had materials, shot lists, and samples of his work all ready to go and show us. We decided to book him immediately after the meeting. Our venue was an industrial loft and we had asked Khoa if he had ever shot a wedding in that kind of venue before. Ideally, we would have preferred someone who was familiar with the space. Khoa had not shot in that type of venue before, but he took the time to go through his portfolio and show us samples of what could be considered similar. He explained to us how he would approach the challenges of shooting in a new space and we felt confident he would do a good job. On the day of the wedding, his team was on time and extremely nice. They also came very prepared! They brought the lighting and additional equipment to accommodate the space and we were very impressed. Khoa told us how to stand, pose, etc (we needed the guidance!) and he kept us on schedule. Many of our guests also commented that they barely noticed the photography/videography team were there, which is saying a lot since it is a small venue. We are very happy we went with 1314 Studio!

Absolutely fantastic! The photographs were beautiful and Khoa and his assistant James were super professional but very fun and relaxed. Great people, great work. Would highly recommend! Also, the hi res final photos were delivered in the cutest little package! The attention to detail across the board is stellar, and you can tell by the level of care that Khoa wants his clients to feel as great as he makes them look! Khoa also paid extra attention to processing the photos a certain way, and was extremely attentive to my nit picky demands :) but was patient the entire time which was wonderful. We took our engagement photos with Khoa and Emily last week and had such a wonderful experience! We had sent them some suggested areas where we were hoping to get some shots. They arrived to the area well before our scheduled meeting time and surveyed the area themselves so that they were well prepared going into the shoot and we would not waste a minute of our time together. Khoa and Emily worked extremely well together and were great at creating 'scenarios' to help us get into the 'mood' of each shot. They turned over our pictures in an extremely quick time frame, beautifully edited and exactly what we would have hoped them to be. Khoa and his team were great! They have a great website and it showcases their style beautifully. Khoa is very responsive via email, which is crucial when you’re planning a wedding. Our first meeting was at a Starbucks and he brought a laptop to showcase additional weddings that were photographed by 1314 and himself. We worked together on a timeline of the day and he put me at ease as my husband and I are not great in front of the camera. Our edited photos were provided to us timely and were fantastic! Everything was captured and then some! My only recommendation to future couples is to do an engagement shoot. We didn’t as we felt shy in front of the camera, but put that aside! It gives you an opportunity to know your photographer’s style and see how you act and look in front of the camera. And when you know what your assets are, your pictures will be that much better. Khoa and Brian, thank you for capturing our beautiful day and working with us to get those fantastic shots!

I loved Emily's style and couldn't be happier with our finished photos. Emily was extremely accommodating fitting us in during the busy Christmas period, even shooting on a Sunday around the changing weather. She and her assistant Khoa were patient and have a great eye for detail and we've now ended with a series of excellent photos to mark our engagement in New York. We thought we'd feel uncomfortable - a little corny - shooting these photos, but Emily made us feel very relaxed and helped us to make the most of our time with her. My fiance and I live in Ontario and we contacted Emily about a month before our trip to New York City this past October. We just got engaged in September and wanted to have our engagement photos done in Central Park. We loved her online portfolios and had read very positive reviews from other people - I'm glad to say we are adding another very positive review now! Emily was very professional and easy to get along with. She incorporated the props and outfits we'd brought (mostly hockey jerseys, of course) and was excellent at directing us with poses without taking away from how we are naturally as a couple. She also came up with some creative poses for us to do that took into account my fiance's mobility issues (Central Park is extremely hilly!) and we are so thrilled with the results. The quality of the pictures is amazing and Emily beautifully captured the candid moments as well as the professional poses. I don't know how we're going to choose just one shot to frame up for our families this Christmas! If we could hire her again to come up north to do our wedding we absolutely would.
