Prepare to be wow-ed. My husband and I totally loved everything about Sarah and Oscar (her husband) and feel so lucky to have found them. Sarah was a kind, calming presence throughout the day and managed to get gorgeous shots while making us feel relaxed and encouraging us to have fun and act natural. While we didn't have the chance to meet Sarah in person prior to the wedding, she sent us a few fun questionnaires to get to know us better. We felt so comfortable all night - like her and Oscar were friends we'd known for years! Because of this, our photos definitely aren't your average posed wedding photos and instead are more in-the-moment snapshots that help us relive all the emotion, love and joy of the day. That said, if you want a certain kind of shot or traditional "pose", make sure to tell Sarah ahead of time so she can plan for that. Sarah delivered the final gallery even sooner than expected and prefaced it with a thoughtful blog post summarizing the big day. (Trust me, your family with LOVE having a link to share with all their friends.) Sarah books up fast so don't hesitate to give her a call!! And book the extra hour or two. It will be worth it.

She came recommended to us by another photographer (which is saying a lot already!) and from our first contact with her all the way through the planning process to our actual wedding day, working with her was such a joy. She truly prioritized getting to know me and my now husband to make sure that she'd be a good match as our photographer, and to be sure she got the shots that really captured who we are as a couple and what we wanted our wedding day to feel like. Her professionalism and organizing everything from our timeline, to the different settings we wanted for pictures, and the various groups of people we wanted formal group pictures with, kept the day moving flawlessly. I planned a wedding in Bar Harbor, Maine from across the country. I actually contacted a Bar Harbor photographer first, but she was booked and sent me the names of several photographers that she knew did Bar Harbor weddings. Sarah V's website stood out from the others, and I immediately knew I had found the perfect photographer. She was incredibly helpful answering all my questions and going over the contract. And, even though I booked her about 10 months before my wedding date and was across the country from her, she did a great job keeping in touch, sending me sweet notes, and going over details for the big day. She was nice enough to come to Bar Harbor a few days before the wedding, so we could meet face to face . I felt like I already knew Sarah, and she immediately put my husband at ease about the big day. And, Sarah and her husband Oscar were perfect on our wedding day. We genuinely enjoyed hanging out with them. My husband actually says that his favorite part of our wedding day was doing a photo shoot with Sarah and Oscar down along the water (yes, really). My parents also raved about spending the day Sarah and Oscar--and this was before we even saw the incredible photos! Sarah turned the photos around very quickly--I actually think we had all of them about a month after the wedding, and we had sneak peeks and a blog post even sooner. The photos are unbelievable. They caught the spirit of the day perfectly, and we could not be happier with them. So, to sum it up, I would absolutely pick Sarah again and would highly recommend her to anyone and everyone!

Sarah captured our wedding day beautifully! Whenever I look at our wedding photos, I am instantly taken back to that special day. The ability to capture the energy and emotion within each moment is the gift that a truly talented photographer possesses. I don't like having my picture taken, and going into it, I was nervous. Sarah and Oscar's calm presence melted away my fears. Although I was anxious leading up to the wedding, on our actual day, I felt extremely proud, and I delighted in showing everything off. Sarah and Oscar got beautiful shots of everything my wife and I worked so hard to create for that day. No lie, our wedding photos prompted me to do my first facebook timeline update in three years. Sarah and Oscar really understood our vision for the wedding, and our photos are so beautiful I want to post them on my timeline to everybody again, and our wedding was seven months ago. From the bride: Sarah and Oscar had such a positive influence on my mood that day... I was so nervous about having to pose for pictures, but they were so cool about getting to know us that soon enough we were all joking, laughing, and getting some awesome shots. They let us take the lead - up a giant hill! They were gung-ho about wandering around the wooded estate, and we felt super comfortable about posing because in the end, it wasn't about posing. It was just about feeling really good and having that positive energy captured forever in photos. We're so grateful for Sarah and Oscar's skills, energy, warmth, and professionalism. They were so organized too! Sure, we wandered around the estate for what felt like a whole afternoon, but once it was time to take family photos, they whipped out their timetable and directed all of us into formation, and kept the line moving. They were gentle in their prompts to our family members who tended to get distracted about this and that... thanks to Sarah and Oscar, we started the ceremony right on time. At the reception, I kept wanting to pull her in to dance! They got all the best shots of our loved ones dancing. And they also took some beautiful shots of the sun setting behind the inn, what a lovely surprise. Thank you again, Sarah and Oscar!

It's hard to put into words how awesome Sarah is! From our very first conversation on the phone I knew she was the one I wanted to spend so much time with on our wedding day. She made my husband and I feel so comfortable at our engagement photo shoot and we were so excited to work with her on our wedding day! My husband and I don't like our pictures being taken but sarah made the whole experience better by laughing with us and constantly complementing us. She planned our whole wedding day perfectly and took so much stress off of us because she is so laid back and easy going. Her husband was so awesome too and I'm so glad I got to know both of them! Sarah. Is. AAAAMAZING. She made my wedding day so much fun and so relaxing, we even ran ahead of schedule! She quickly became a part of the group with my bridal party always running to grab them so they could be a part of some other moment. Going through our photos I never dreamed our day could have been captured so perfectly. It was such a nice surprise to see some of the details and group shots that I missed but now have the memory of. She captured laughter, tears, smiles, hugs, family reunions, and every aspect that makes a wedding special. Her photojournalist background really shines through in giving some of the most unique photos I've ever seen. Her blog post alone brought me to tears because we felt just as special to her and Oscar (her second shooter and husband!) as she meant to us. Sarah responded to any inquires in a timely manner, always gave ample amounts of notice about payment reminders, a professional contract, checking in on what we needed and helping us to completely organize our day of timeline. I owe the day running so smoothly to her. Throughout my entire wedding process I continually said to my husband, she is worth every penny we pay her, and I stand by that now. This is one impressive woman (but seriously, just go through her portfolio and blog posts and you'll see why) and I feel very fortunate to get to work with her!

Overall, Sarah V. was an amazing, wonderful addition to our day!! She put us completely at ease about the event, timelines, and getting the shots even though we were planning our wedding from across the country. I am not the gushing bride type. So writing this means that I feel really strongly that this woman is the real deal and her pictures were exceptional. I got married this December and I was honestly not interested in wedding photos. I thought they would be cheesy or too serious or cliche. But everyone kept saying "not even a few of the two of you? for an album?" So I sort of puttered around and halfheartedly skimmed wedding photography sites that looked ok. Then I found Sarah's website. The photographs on her page are just stunning and the couples looked joyful and beautiful. There was nothing stilted or false. I knew then that I wanted pictures if the pictures would look like these! I was so thrilled when Sarah was available and willing to do my wedding. She was really accessible and friendly. She not only helped with my photography but she also helped me make a timeline for my wedding day which was really crucial in getting everyone on the same page. Now, in all honesty, even after seeing her work and loving every single picture she took, I still had low expectations for my own pictures because I don't always photograph well. I cannot express to you how blown away I was from the very first picture she sent my husband and I. My wedding shots are dream pictures. They totally capture my husband and I and the tone of our wedding. These photos are total magic. We were thrilled with them and everyone that has seen them has commented about how beautiful they are. I know everyone says that about wedding photos but my family members are not those kind of people. They might say "oh, those are nice" if they are trying to be nice when they don't want to be. They would never say "these are so beautiful" or "these are incredible" if they weren't. I got both of those comments about Sarah's pictures of my wedding. I can't recommend Sarah enough for her product, her process, and her professionalism.

Safe to say my husband and I were more excited to see Sarah on our wedding day than to see each other. From the very first conversation, she swept my husband away with her philosophy on capture "your first official day as a family of two!" I found myself emailing her just to chat sometimes. She seamlessly integrated into our day, capturing the absolute best moments, not just of us, but of our guests having the best time. Our family and friends were blown away by the pictures. She used the best of our changing weather to create amazing backdrops for us, offering a lot of variety. It was difficult at first to fully describe just how awesome Sarah is! I'll start by saying that when my husband and I got engaged, a wedding photographer was one of the first things I looked into. However, Sarah's easygoing and friendly demeanor helped us to open up. Our private photoshoot with just my husband and I was actually my favorite part of our day! After all of her photoshoots with couples, Sarah posts photos and a description of the day in her blog. For almost a year I looked forward to the day where it would be our wedding posted in her blog! It was so worth the wait! Seeing her post made me feel like our day was so special and meaningful. Lastly, but most importantly, our photos were everything I dreamed of and more! They really convey the love and joy we were feeling. I have never felt I looked so happy and beautiful. I am so glad to have these images to cherish and help us relive our day. If you are looking for an adventurous and talented professional photographer then you have found Sarah of I AM SARAH V Photography! Sarah is detailed oriented with all the necessary correspondence but her ability to capture authentic photos is unsurpassed! July 1, 2017, was an eventful day, no pun intended, and Sarah and Oscar just rolled with all the craziness! First, the wedding dress could not be located at the inn; we found it and pictures were taken. Next, the skies were threatening rain and as a result the contracted boat service that was to take 150 guests to Church Island on Squam Lake cancelled. So Plan B; the ceremony will now take place at the groom's family lake house. But then Plan C; Alex, the groom, was going to be married on Church Island as his parents did many years ago. He called friends on the lake and boats and work skiffs appeared at the dock to ferry all of the guests and wedding party out to the island! And one more detail, everyone's cell phones were buzzing with an emergency warning of possible tornadoes coming that afternoon! And Sarah and Oscar in the middle of this ever changing schedule, were taking unbelievable photographs of the wedding party and guests undeterred by all the moving parts! They captured ALL the details of that ever changing day and we were so happy with the result! The photographs at The Preserve, Squam Lake and Church Island beautifully captured Liz and Alex's spirit and love of each other and the outdoors. Sarah is a beautiful, kind and sincere individual who also happens to be an amazing professional photographer. You can totally trust Sarah with any of your special events. Thanks Sarah!!!

I cannot stop talking about how amazing Sarah is and how wonderful it was to have her as our photographer. From our first email exchange, I knew I wanted Sarah to be our photographer. She has this amazing, fun-loving and caring personality and that is exactly the kind of person you want in the trenches on your wedding day. Sarah is an incredible artist. Throughout my planning process she was instantaneously responsive to my emails, attentive to even the smallest details, caring, and knew exactly what she was doing. My husband and I had a very small budget and a planned a non-traditional wedding. When researching photographers in the area, it was important to find someone who could offer a rate per hour, which was next to impossible to find for a wedding. When I found Sarah's website I was in awe of her artistry and emailed her immediately. Sarah worked with us on creating a quote that fit into our means and helped us realize that the pictures of our wedding were really a priority. Our wedding spot was a very small vineyard in the lakes region. Sarah knew exactly what time to start the ceremony so the light would be perfect. While taking photos, Sarah put us at ease and never postured us into a cliched pose. I think the whole family felt as though she was a part of the wedding too, not just the photographer. As a self-professed non-photogenic couple, my husband and I doubted that we wouldn't look dorky or staged in the pictures. Yet, when we received the link to our photo site which Sarah created we were just blown away. Her pictures are gorgeous and most importantly she managed to catch the spirit and emotion of the day. We are so happy that every time we want a visual reminder of that exciting day, we have Sarah's perspective to look through. My husband and I completely fell in love with Sarah V (and her awesome husband/second shooter Oscar). First and foremost Sarah’s photos are absolutely incredible!!! So much so, that the photograph she so skillfully captured of us exiting the church in complete wedded bliss - won a gold award in the international wedding photojournalist association contest! Every photo from her was extraordinarily beautiful. She captured every special moment of our day (some that we knew of and some that we didn’t even know about but were delighted to see afterwards - ie my family taking shots as I was getting ready). It is difficult to accurately express in words the amazing things that Sarah did for us before, during, and after our wedding day. I am not much of a wedding planner, and I had grown so tired of everyone's unsolicited advice. However, it was impossible to ignore the two pieces of such that stood out the most; have fun, and get the perfect photographer. Sarah had taken personal photos of me in the past and I absolutely loved them, but most importantly, I absolutely LOVE Sarah! Sarah is absolutely incredible! We had an intimate elopement and only met her two weeks before our wedding day. So thankful she was our photographer. We got married on a sailboat, and she rocked it! Sarah made me feel so comfortable the entire time and created beautiful images we will cherish forever!

I cannot say enough great things about Sarah and her husband, Oscar. Sarah is so organized, professional, thoughtful, kind, funny, and talented. She thinks of everything! And includes super wonderful little touches -- for example, she sent us adorable ceramic mugs 6 months before the wedding, which we now drink coffee out of every day and give us wonderful memories of the planning process. She was always available for communication, had everything organized in the weeks leading up to the wedding, and on wedding day, she and Oscar were true gems. They were fun to be around but also somehow somewhat invisible. I look at the photos now and I think -- how did they get that angle?! I don't even remember them being there! She also asked us important questions about what was important to us to have captured, which I thought was thoughtful. For example, I wasn't all that attached to having photos of my shoes, make-up process, etc -- I wanted more photos of faces and people, and I was so glad she asked me, because I wouldn't have thought to tell her that. There is such great variety in the photos, too -- she somehow was able to capture all of the important people that we wanted photos of. She is a really talented photographer. We loved working with Sarah and Oscar. Thank you both so much!!

We hired Sarah for our elopement photographer. I searched online and found her website and instantly fell in love! She sincerely wanted to get to know us and hear our love story and was as excited about our marriage as we were! She makes you feel like you are the only couple that she is working with (and we hired her during wedding season!!!) On the big day she was incredibly professional yet easy going and fun. Our photo's came out beautifully and I couldn't be happier!

Sarah and her husband Oscar were absolutely awesome throughout the whole process. I was planning my NH wedding from far away, and she was so great about communicating with me via phone and email. She captured more candid photos, which I prefer over more posed ones. I loved looking back at the images to relive the whole experience - she captured all the most important moments flawlessly, and even the moments I didn't know had happened (which were great to be able to experience after the fact!) She is friendly, and makes you feel so comfortable in front of the camera. My photos were completed so quickly too - I had access to the finished photos from the wedding approximately one month later (which i thought was super quick!) But don't worry quality is not sacrificed one bit by her speed and efficiency. She would be a great choice to photograph your wedding.

Sarah did an amazing job photographing our July 2013 wedding. We couldn’t be happier with how our pictures turned out and they were just what we were hoping for. We wanted a slightly more “artistic” look with the pictures then the typical, traditional wedding photography, but pictures that would also seem timeless. Sarah does this perfectly. She is also an absolute pleasure to work with. We had a lot of fun getting to know her and felt completely comfortable from our first moments with her. She really listened to what we wanted with our pictures, was extremely organized and thorough, and we knew we could trust her to do a fantastic job (which she did). Amidst the craziness that happens while planning a wedding, and on the wedding day, Sarah is calm, patient, reliable, trustworthy, punctual, and someone you want to be around. She also has a great sense of humor and is an all-around kind person. One thing she did particularly well on our wedding day was rounding up all our family members for pictures when everyone was scattering in different directions and getting distracted. She got everyone where they needed to be, and didn’t take too long with all the formal pictures, which really helped us stay on time for everything and allow us to spend more time enjoying the reception. One more great thing about having her as our photographer was that she got our pictures to us quite soon after our wedding. After our wedding was over we absolutely couldn’t wait to see the pictures, so this was a nice added bonus that she was prompt getting them up online for us to view and order from. You can tell that Sarah really loves what she does, has an exceptional eye for photo composition, and has the character and professionalism to successfully run a business. We highly recommend Sarah to other couples looking for a photographer.

I honestly can't imagine hiring a photographer besides Sarah V after she captured our wedding the way she did. The photos were beautiful, she let us be ourselves, she genuinely cared about how we felt about our day, and the results show in the pictures themselves -- and that's what you want, right? If you have the chance to hire her for your own wedding and don't, you're missing out.

We LOVED working with Sarah. She was just amazing, from planning up through the wedding day and beyond, we're so glad that she was a part of it! We live out of state, so we didn't meet Sarah (and Oscar) until the wedding day, yet she still managed to make us feel like she really cared about how our planning was going, and like she was as excited for our wedding as we were. She was very quick to respond whenever we did have questions (including questions unrelated to photography - she gave me an awesome hair salon recommendation for my bridal-do!), and would reach out to touch base before we even realized we did have questions. We were pleasantly surprised when our photos were ready even earlier than we'd expected, and to say they're stunning is an understatement. Her blog post with some early photos made us (and our friends and family) laugh and cry; when the full gallery was ready, more laughter, more happy tears. The formal shots are amazing, I don't know how we're going to choose which ones to display. Looking through the reception photos made us so happy -- seeing all of our loved ones having so much fun -- everything goes by so quickly that you miss so much, and we were able to experience even more through the photos. Whether they're superhuman or trained ninjas, I don't know, but some of the pictures make me wonder how they managed to be everywhere at once, or how they (apparently) were right next to me and I didn't even know it, but they captured so many amazing moments!!
