Not the easiest group to round up but Phil worked his magic. The second time was with my newborn son. Phil was able to take a photo I took of my wife's home city right from my phone and turn it into a lasting portrait. With such an enlargement, I was amazed at the quality of the image- complete with proper color adjusting and edge shadowing to visually make the picture "pop" at the scale it was brought to. I can't thank Phil enough for a couple of reasons. The first is that Phil came and took photos for my husband’s welcome home from deployment party. Phil also touched up photos from my wedding before my husband's deployment. We got married at the town hall, so we had items (chalkboard/ exit sign) in the photo that I wanted removed. I wanted to surprise my husband for our one year Anniversary this past Saturday. I notified Phil very last minute and he was able to send them over to me along with one with an American Flag in the background. The NH published, Hampton Fall's magazine was planning a cover story on my music and "Hope, Heroes' & the Blues" roots music education & diversity programs. They requested that I do a photo shoot with Phil Chura. I wasn't very familiar with his work, but honestly I kind of assumed he was a stereotypical wedding, and straight head shot camera man. Boy was I ever wrong...Phil instructed me to bring several of my instruments, and at least one change of clothes! He not only knew exactly what he wanted for my shoot, but also knew how to bring that vision out of me. I haven't seen a photographer do as good of studio shoot than Phil. The cover and story pics created a great buzz, some choice new gigs and the feedback from everyone was fantastic. He recently surprised me, by showing up with his camera for a live concert I was doing for a New Orleans night at the Hampton Falls, Free Library. Once again I was blown away by the candid shots he took and effortless artistry he created on the fly. I had heard glowing testimonials about Phil Chura, but till I saw the examples of his work on the walls of his studio and the result of my sitting, it was difficult to imagine how gratifying a properly composed and lit picture can be. All photographers have the ability to stop time, but Phil Chura transforms that moment into your story. There is a portrait on the wall of two children. The bright blue eyes of the little boy and the smile of the little girl light the whole room. :Phil's knowledge, skill, and experience combine to evoke a smile long after the session is done.
