I highly recommend Shawn Tomkinson Photography! Other than making AMAZING photographs, Shawn Tomkinson Photography stood out to me for many reasons. First, Shawn has over 13 years of professional experience as a photographer and she has photographed hundreds of unique and beautiful events up and down the East Coast. Shawn is a well-seasoned photographer that you can trust to capture your most important memories with beautiful, timeless photos that you and your loved ones will cherish for years to come. Second, Shawn is a full-time photographer and business owner. These days, most photographers have other jobs and use photography as a part-time or weekend gig to make some extra money. Photography is Shawn’s ONLY business and her greatest PASSION, so all of her attention can be devoted to YOU! Third, Shawn completes ALL work herself, start to finish! This really sets Shawn apart from other photographers because nowadays many photographers outsource their editing (and sometimes even their shooting!). After she shoots an event like a wedding, Shawn probably spends at least 20 hours color correcting, retouching and editing the photos. Images are delivered to her clients only after they meet Shawn’s high standards. Fourth, Shawn is known for her unique photojournalistic style. She is an expert at shooting candid photos that look natural and mirror how people and pets look in real life. Her forte is capturing those tender moments that tell the story of people or pets connecting with others, getting swept away by emotions, experiencing wonder and excitement, or just having fun! Fifth, Shawn is the perfect combination of professionalism and warmth! Her genuine kindness, sensitivity, sense of humor, and flexibility all culminate in creating a calming effect on her subjects. Suffice it to say that working with Shawn is a pure delight! Last but not least, ALL of Shawn’s packages include your high resolution files! A photographer who is willing to give you electronic copies of all the photographs is a rare find indeed! Imagine having the high resolution files of all of your photos to modify, print, and create with as often and as long as you’d like! What FUN! The possibilities are limitless! 

There certainly is not enough I could say about the beautiful work of Shawn Tomkinson. Our relationship began 11 years ago when after interviewing about 20 wedding photographers, I feel in love with her photo journalistic style. Looking at sample photos of weddings that Shawn shot, I could tell that she was going to be able to capture those special moments with raw emotion and she did just that. I can't just pick one favorite picture that Shawn took of my wedding because they are all so beautiful, but she captured a special one of my husband and I when we were peeking into the function hall all decorated and ready to make our grand entrance. It's that attention to detail, that makes Shawn an amazing photographer. Shawn is much more than a photographer, she is a part of our little story in life. She has not just photographed our start in life with our engagement and wedding, but she has photographed our family as it has grown through the years. The photographs that Shawn has provided me over the years are my MOST most treasured possessions. Each time she sends the link with my next session photos, it is like Christmas morning. There isn't enough I can say about how much I appreciate her artistry, non-obtrusive manner and attention to detail. Although I will soon need to build an addition to house all my beautiful photos, I am forever indebted to Shawn for capturing the most important moments in my life.

My wife and I couldn't be happier with Shawn's work on (and before and after) our wedding day. We were initially impressed with her no-nonsense consultation when she dove right into the details of the wedding planning. She was one of the first wedding vendors we spoke with, and fortunately she was patient and thorough in her consultation, going through many points that we hadn't even thought about yet. On the day itself, she was flexible and in-charge. She got tons of great shots of our ceremony (finding all the nooks and crannies in the church that we had hoped she would) and had wedding party and family photos taken in great time (due to great planning and to her efficiency). She was comfortable, too, though. It was easy to smile the whole time because she was friendly and kind while keeping the process moving. She's a clear pro. The final results were everything we had hope they would be. There are beautiful candid shots of family and friends at both the ceremony and reception, fun spontaneous shots, and some really beautiful shots (like...blow it up and hang it over the mantle, beautiful) of my wife and me. We would highly suggest Shawn to engaged couples looking for honest, fun, beautiful wedding photos. Even if you're a photographer (like my wife) or just picky (like me) you'll love the experience.

Planning a wedding is a very difficult and stressful task. It is easy to get bogged down and be overwhelmed in the tiny details. One of the 5 best decisions I made in regards to my wedding was hiring Shawn as my photographer. (Number 1 is the man i chose to marry) I got married on 11/1/2014 and I hired Shawn in December 2013 and Shawn began checking in with me on a regular basis in June about the details of the venue and the timeline and all the details about what I was envisioning and special shots from June-October 31st. Her thoroughness and consideration was such a relief ESPECIALLY as it boiled down to the day off. On my wedding day she showed up right on time and just blended with the rest of the wedding team with such ease it was so nice not to worry about it. I LOVED working with Shawn. So much so that I have rehired her for our anniversary pictures this fall. The quality of Shawn's pictures and her artistic vision can't be beat. I highly recommend Shawn. You won't be sorry.
