To this day the business has a rating of 4.0 stars over 5 and this score was based on 133 reviews.
As you can see the average of ratings that it reaches is very positive, and it's based on a high number of scores, so we can think that the rating is quite faithful. If many people have bothered to value when they've done well, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to set scores when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Photo Studio is included in the category of Portrait studio.
They are great with children. And I get my prints the same day.
Been going there for several years. Went and got my kids Christmas pictures today and got way less pictures than I used to but ended up spending more money. When asked why the cost went up so much the answer I got was "retail." I'm sad to say it but I will not be going back there ever again if they are going to charge that much more but give less pictures now.
They always do a great job doing my daughter pictures
Loved the photographers the price was WAY too much!!
Awesome experience!!! We love our pictures!!!!
My kid was super fussy, and they got her to smile and get a great pic! If you haven't been, please do. It does get busy so plan accordingly. Last year i went in the evening and it wasnt as busy.
I had my DS take some of his Senior pictures here; the photographer was excellent and we got quite a few good shots. We have used PI for family photos repeatedly over the years and have always been happy with the results. Helpful hint: be ready with poses you want to have taken and plan to have a very quick session. It would be helpful to familiarize yourself with their available backgrounds online before your appointment so that you have an idea as to what will look good and what may not work so well. It will help when you end up selecting your photos, i.e. what you wear may not work well with the backgrounds but the photo is good. Definitely recommend checking out this PI location!
It was my first ever to have a professionally photo shoot done for my family and I! I had so much fun, and my family all agreed that this experience will last a lifetime! See you all in a couple of months (lol)
We've been going here for 8 years now and it's a great experience every time!
This place was horrible we waited 3+plus tonight and didn't receive our pictures same day! Rude too. I'll never go back Their over priced too!!
The prices were very high. They did not provide us with any upfront costs. When I booked the appointment I did ask about the costs. I should have known something wasn't right. I was told it was $20 for shooting and then you pay for prints. Next time I will trust my instincts. The shoot went well and I felt they were able to get the child to interact. However, when I went to view my photos my package that I didn't select was well over $500! We had to limit the shots to get the price down but my only other option was to pay a minimum $250 for a CD. I felt my prints were being held hostage. We ended up paying almost $400 and we have a CD but I don't have any rights to the CD so I can't print them at home or anything. I am going to shop around next time if I want to do a shoot again.
We didn't have to wait at all, and the photographer was good, but their pricing sucks. My biggest reason for not giving it higher ratings is that they aren't up front with their pricing. It was really shady. I will never go back. I walked in expecting it to be a similar experience as the JCPENNEY photo studio - prices, packages and all - but it wasn't. At all.
Very good employees here
Not enough space. Needs a better kid play area.
Bait and switch. It took almost 2 hours to be told there was a $50 handing fee. And the photos are not very good. I will never go back.
Not happy with our experience. The photographer kept roughly tickling my children. Even after being told they were not enjoying being touched and to just please proceed with the pictures. My daughter began to hit her each time she tickled. Also called my daughter a boy several times throughout the shoot- even after I nicely explained that she is a girl (which I thought would be obvious by the ornaments in her hair and red heart shaped glittery earrings). The photographer proceeded to tell me that she was dressed like a boy because she had on jeans. This experience was over a year ago and my daughter still constantly asks if she looks like a boy? And refuses to wear the shirt she had on in the pictures ever again. My children became upset during the photo shoot with all the touching against their wishes. Also the pictures were crappy. She rushed though reviewing the pictures and kept trying to push us to purchase pictures we didn't like. The process was not explained to us and she did not show us all the options we had for pictures packages. We thought we were obligated to purchase a certain amount of sheets, until we got to the counter and heard totals of others that were at least $200 less than what we spent. Everyone we came into contact with at this location were unprofessional--even judgmentally looked at our clothing (the adults) and asked ARE YOU GONNA BE IN THE PICTURES TOO? And then said oh I wasn't sure, as she looked us from head to toe. I guess we weren't dressed nicely enough. I'll probably go to Olan Mills or JCP next time, because for the price we paid--we could have at least had decent pictures. I have yet to cut any of these pictures or give them out---and these were my infant son's first pictures.
Been going well over 10yrs to the same Portrait Innovations. We arrive early so we can do final touches to the kids. I had 30mins until our shoot and getting my kid finished and they kept asking "are you ready"? I felt rushed eventhough I had 30mins until his shoot. Still a very clean and friendly environment. We will be back soon!!
The photographer was fast and engaging with our 1 year old. It was so hard to decide on which to buy, they were all so amazing.
Although we had an appointment we waited over 30 minutes to start our session. The photographer who did our session was pretty good for the most part, I feel like she could have told my husband to sit up straighter and made sure my sons eyes were open. His eyes were closed or squinted in almost every picture. Also she kept tilting my daughters glasses to avoid a glare but it looked very awkward in the pictures even though she assured us it wouldnt... I think next time I will us a different location to see if the experience is any better... It wasnt a horrible experience either, I just think it could have been better and that's why I gave 3 stars...
The ladies were awesome, kept our little one smiling the whole time!!!
A little bit of a wait but she was very good with my toddler and I was very pleased with the photos. My son enjoyed the Lego table with other kids while we waited.
The first time we went, we went to the Overland Park location and it was great! The only photographer was busy, but she was fantastic, as were the prices. But, our second time, we went to the Boardwalk, KCMO location and it was ridiculous how much the prices were different. We got 27 pictures for around $70 and the canvas deal to first time and the second time we got 2, yes, TWO pictures and the canvas deal for nearly the same price. We will NEVER be back, no matter what.
Did a excellent job
Love my pics!
Been going since 2012 haven’t had a bad family photo shoot yet see y’all next year
I have been going here for 8 years. The photographers are great and the images are wonderful. I always get the cd and have never had any problems getting images off. They are fast but always get what you ask for. I love that I get the prints same day!
Over priced low quality service.
Had a positive experience and all. Is just like other big department store picture place without the huge store name. Nothing special but it's close so we'll probably use it for future family pics also.
I had my 2 yr old's pictures done here and it was a great experience from being able to schedule an appointment right away to the friendly staff that was ready on time and did a great job w different backgrounds and poses. Prices were very affordable and u are able to order additional pictures offline if you want to at a later date too. Will definitely be back with all my kids.
This place is horrible! I scheduled my appointment online and called in advance to get details on pricing. They told me that they don’t discuss prices over the phone. After the photo shoot is over they tell me it cost $200 just to get 3 of the photos printed. But they were advertising a $39.99 deal on there website. This place is a scam!
Bad with children they just sit there the whole time! As soon as we arived the employees were laying in the back room with the door open. Unfriendly service.
While the photographer did great with the kids you have to site down with them in the craziness and choose a few photos for ordering and any other are gone. So no going home and deciding if you really want that cute one of the kids later... Too bad there lost. Best part they didn't tell us that up front so my husband and I had to leave for another appointment, because they were running later and all of our photos that we did get to see are gone. We will never go here again!
Had a great session and they got my 14, 9, and 3 year old to give real smiles.
Had a coupon for $19.99 session. My 23m old didn't want to smile but got a decent photo. Ended up buying a couple other poses. Was not pressured into buying them, just really wanted the photos. Nice staff and they try very hard to my son to smile! Will go again
Great people.
Friendly staff. We take advantage of the coupons.
The staff is always so great at getting the kiddos to smile! We've been coming here for 3 years now!
The promotion included prints and a canvas. Once on site I was told there was a $10 handling fee for the canvas. I asked if I could just not get the canvas because honestly I didn't want it. I was having my son's 3 year old pictures taken and I have two kids. I wouldn't hang a giant 16x20 canvas up of just one child. I was told NO, you must get the canvas and pay for the handling fee. This seems like a waste for all parties involved. I will be going somewhere else next time.
Crazy busy before the holidays, but they handled it well.
I've gotten my pictures done here for years. It can be really busy at times and the wait be long, especially when other people are late to their appointment. It also seems like they have a lot of people schedule close together, it sure would be helpful if there space was bigger. Besides that, my pictures are always great and I love that you can get them the same day. Thank you Sharice for capturing my families precious moments.
Cassandra was fantastic. She worked so well with my children and caught many great pictures. She worked the computer like a wiz. This was my first experience with Portrait Innovations! I will definitely return.
I have been to the Boardwalk Location twice now and both times I was not happy with my experience. The first time I decided to try portrait innovations, I had my son's 6 months photos done with my daughter. They took more pictures of her by herself than they did of him. I wanted picture of him on his belly and did not get the results that I wanted. I ended up going to a different studio to get the pictures that I wanted. I said nothing during the photo shoot, so I decided to give the studio a second chance. I voiced exactly what I wanted and was told that it is part of the session to take separate pictures of the kids but they would mainly focus on the group shots since that is what I want. I agreed to do the session in understanding that they would focus on the group and do some individuals. Again, I was unhappy with the results and service. The photographer was all over the place, had us switch rooms mid shoot to where there was worst lighting, and took so long doing individual shots of the kids that by the time she decided to go back to do more group shots the little ones had enough and was crying at this point. The photos turned out great for the individuals, but I wanted the group. I didn't end up liking any of the shots of the groups and when I asked if we could take a couple more shots since the kids got a break, I was told that I would need to reschedule and come back, but they were not sure when that would be. I ended up choosing the best one possible of the group. I was not happy at all with the studio and service that I receive. I will not return to this establishment.
We go to this Portrait Innivations at least twice a year. They know us by name. We love our experience. It’s not rushed. Our photos are awesome ... so much so we have never stuck to our coupon deal...though you can. Always a special experience with friendly and professional staff.
I am only giving it one star, so I can leave a comment.......I sent my two sons to this location. This was the first time they had gone and done their Mother's Day pictures by themselves and spent their own money on it. I was quoted 23.99 over the phone and that fee was to include a canvas. That's cool. So they get there and it winds up being more like $37 and some change. I am not so happy since they were spending their own money and splitting the cost. I called and the lady explained that the cost was more due to shipping and handling for the canvas. Ok, but why when I asked for total cost, was I not informed there would be additional cost? She finally handed me to a manager who informed me that while the canvas was included, the cost to ship it was not. I asked again why that wasn't already included in the total I was quoted. She got pretty snippy and said if it was that big of a deal, she would refund the "6 whopping bucks" back, but they had to drive back up there. Well, we live almost an hour away.........still not the point.......as well as the fact that as a "professional" portrait studio, the lighting was so bad it literally looks like they both have white sunscreen on their noses. >:(
I brought my family here for portraits and made an appointment. We waited over an hour past our appointment time and they only got us in because we threatened to leave. The actual photos are nice. Our photographer was friendly and worked well with the family, including my grandmother with dementia. The poses were cheesy but we expected that. Once reviewing the photos, they attempt to pressure you into a $450 package. We got them down to a $119 package eventually but had to be pushy about which photos we didn't want. Then when we got the prints, I was disappointed... All of the prints are different sizes. I got five 4x6s of each pose and they vary from 3.5x6.25 to 4.25x5.75. none of them are actually the size they should be. For the price, I wish I had just hired a regular portrait photographer and gone to a park or something. It would have been cheaper and if I got the prints done elsewhere, they would have been the correct size.
It was very easy to schedule our appointment. When I arrived with 7 grandchildren they were, friendly, helpful, patient and fast but not rushed. We had a great experience and were very happy with our portraits!
I made an appointment online for a specific time, but still had to wait 45 minutes before we could get our pictures taken.
I absolutely love portrait Innovations! The staff there are very kind patient and understanding. I have been a customer of portrait innovations since my daughter was born and will keep going there and recommend portrait innovations to anybody looking for family portraits. My pictures always turn out great. The staff is honestly want makes my experience so good.
Clean and friendly
Pictures turned out great, but they charge by the pose and only offer 1 package. I was very frustrated that they have no information about their prices and packaging available until after you take the pictures.
Felt very rushed. Our 18 month old daughter was a little unsure and I do not geel like the time was taken to make her feel comfortable. Then, I could not just order the pictures I wanted or purchase the cd. In the end we spent $288 and got pictures we do not need and was told that I had to bring the cd back to the studio to print off the pictures I need. So, I will spend another $100 to get what I need because their prices are insane. We had better luck with and better pictures with a private photographer and spent way less. We will not be coming back. Then I recieved an email offering me a $20 giftcard for my negative experience.
This place is terrible. They THREW away my wall art portrait but claimed that the regional office never sent it to them! Never go here if you can avoid it. The manager is nice and that's about the only positive that I can tell you other than that everyone else is rude. They act like they hate their jobs and they treat you like crap the entire time your inside and you will be there all day and probably ruin your dinner plans if you have them. Like I said stay away from this place it is horrible.
This location has fantastic prices on the basic 1 pose package. If you can say no to the upsells you will get a ton of pictures at awesome pricing! We do family pictures here to avoid the frustration of trying to get a good picture of 4 small wiggly children.
Great Staff! They were Very patient! We had 5 kids under 3.. 2 were infants! Quality pictures and friendly staff! Highly recommend and will go back!
My review is mixed. I'm very happy with my pictures but the experience was not the best I think it could have been. It started by waiting over 30 mins to get started (when we had an APPT time set-not as a walk in). The clerk said all 3 appts showed up which leads me to believe they over book. I felt the ending process where they review the photos with you was too long bc they start off by trying to sell you the maximum pkg then very slowly dwindle it down. Lastly I ended up having to pick up my pics the next buisness day bc this whole experience was so long & my toddler was cranky & hungry.
Cattle call. Long wait after appointment time. Sky high cost. The rep kept trying to sell us a canvas for "only $100" when there was clearly a package available for 39.99 that included a canvas. Photos were ok, not great. I recommend The Picture People when getting studio photos. They are professional, photos are high quality and they do not try to trick into spending more money than necessary.
Awesome photographer, great pictures
Good with young kids
My child really enjoyed taking her picture. She had a small melt down in between outfit changes but the ladies figure out how to get her back to being happy and ready for picture.
pretty expensive for what you get.. the pictures turned out fairly decently, and one employee was particularly good with the kids, but the DVD didn't even WORK. They wanted me to drive clear up there to replace it, that's it. For all the money, and plus the time and money of gas and drive time, now I don't know that I'll go back.
Overall my experience was a positive one. I do not like them taking multiple fantastic photos that are hard to choose from. If you have the will power to stick to one pose on an advertised special it is a great value. The photographer did an excellent job making me and my child feel comfortable and was able to capture her personality on film.
The photographer was great. She took really great care of us
Love love love portrait innovations always a great time they take great pictures of my kids and in a timely manner. And I get to choose the best and take them home same day it’s a win win for all!
The photographer we had was great, and was really great with kids, but we had to wait one hour before we get someone to help us, while the customer arrived before us got help right away. The associates are very sassy and not friendly at all.
Never disappointed
