Top notch camera store. Full service. I have bought 3 cameras there over the years. They can help with questions or problems. You can even get passport photos taken here. I come here for all things photography related. Only 4 stars because some of the salespeople I just come across as smug and condescending. I just avoid them. Most are top notch.

I participated in photography class to learn how to use the most important settings on my camera. Our instructor Tim was focused, explained in easy to understand terms and was available after class to answer questions. It was an informative, fun way to spend a drizzly Saturday in February.

Christian Photo is a fine asset for central Iowa photographers, Staff members are experienced and helpful. Their classes are interesting and reasonably priced. They support local activities for photographers and participate in the Des Moines Camera Club activities. We are fortunate to have access to a full service, well stocked and well staffed store.

SUCH an amazing experience! Liam was the sales person who had the opportunity to help us! He jumped right in and when we told him what we needed and when, he didn't even hesitate! He was so helpful and even showed us his own copies of what he will be entering at the Iowa State Fair! Him showing us his work really inspired my 12 year old budding photographer! They had my son's photo done with in an hour! Fast, very helpful service! I'm glad there is an old school shop out there like this in this "do it yourself" day and age.... Never once did I feel like I was an inconvenience! My son and I were the only thing Liam focused on while we were there! He helped us from start to finish! I'll definitely go back there again for any photo printing needs I may have!

I have been to Christian Photo several times recently and will never return. The sales people were rude, condescending and not very helpful. If they were knowledgeable, it didn't show. Their attitudes, the service and final products delivered are unacceptable.

Just purchased my first camera and I walked in knowing absolutely nothing about cameras, I just had a vague idea of what I wanted. The very nice sales man answered all of my questions and expanded every product in detail. He gave me some time to think about things and when it came time to check out I didn't feel pressure to buy things I didn't need. Overall, a great experience. I'm excited to try my new camera and attend classes in the future!

Stopped in today and Brian helped me, not only did he make me feel right at home but he made sure my 3 year old daughter had a fun experience as well which is tough to do at that age. He spent easily at least an hour with us and walked me through everything from setting up my new camera to explaining the difference between the lenses I was deciding on. He asked what my budget was and stuck with it, no pushing to try to up sell me or sell me things I didn't need. I will absolutely return for all my photography needs and I highly recommend anyone in the market to shop here. Good customer service but I've been in here several times and almost none of the employees smile. You can get camera film developed, new batteries put in a camera, old equipment checked and they even sell a lot of new equipment like drones and GoPros.

The best advantage to buying at store that specializes in cameras and gear, is that your experience does not end with the sale. They will answer any question you have, even if you call back after the purchase. They are not interested in just selling you gear, they have a genuine interest in making you a better photographer. You will not get this at a chain store, or the web!

My daughter broke the lense of the school's rental camera. I knew if there was any replacement to be purchased, Christian Photography would know and or have it. She called and talked to Brian and he had 1 replacement for a great price!! Brian could have charged more but he was so fair! We walked in and he tried to fix the broken lens, but it was too far gone. He was very kind and easy to work with. We are excited to go back soon!!

In the customer service industry it is not too often, that somebody will stumble upon a local business who is always willing to work for them. Christian Photo houses a friendly informal atmosphere with a wide array of learning experiences and high quality products, all of which is directed under a talented group of employees. Sometimes find myself showing up at their doorstep simply to hang out, and end up leaving with a product I'm extremely excited to try out.

I don't do stairs and believe it or not they have one of those automatic chair lifts to go up there steps. How great and how thoughtful because there's a lot of old people out there or handicapped people that cannot do stairs. They were just overly friendly and eager to help with even my minor little problems with my cameras. Plenty of parking, easy to get to. I'll definitely go back as it's a full service camera shop. They even develop film.

Have taken a number of classes here, with Andy in particular. Was ready to upgrade. Discussed options with Andy, he asked what types of photos I took, what glass I already invested in, and made his recommendations after listening to what I needed. Did stay with Nikon, but Sony is certainly making inroads on DSLR cameras. Andy went a step futher, as Nikon was offering a larger rebate in a few days. Made the sale and extended the larger discount. I'll be back!

I have been to Christian Photo two times. The first time, I went in to see if they could fix the sticky shutter on my pentax slr and after a quick glance they said they couldn't do it, but offered to sell me one of their working slr cameras. I went home and after about 10 minutes was able to figure out how to fix it myself. The second time, I went in to get film (shot on the camera they "couldn't" fix) developed, and they said they can't develop b&w film and no one in Des Moines can. So they said I had to ship it to Kansas to be developed. I took it to Alexander's Photo in Valley Junction the next day, and they had the film developed in 3 days.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Could have more stock but have the bases covered. Nice to walk into a shop, find the lens I wanted and not have to wait for delivery. Price was only slightly higher than what I've seen online. Also a used lens selection with new stuff all the time. I highly suggest stopping by before ordering elsewhere. Buy local!!!!

As an 18 whlr driver getting back into photog, I saw their location was close to a delivery I had so I walked over. It was a helpful experience and the dude took a lot of time with me. I purchased some lighting equipment. One of the guys gave me a ride back to my rig. I will definately return there even though parking a big rig to access the place is challenging.
