I've had my expensive DSLR camera for a couple of years without ever really getting to know it or how to use it to take the photos I desired. My daughter and I took Mary's beginners class together and found it to be so helpful as a great place to start! She quickly reviewed some basics and spent a great deal of time with us helping us to use the camera's features and compare results with different settings. I'm a much more confident photographer now. While in her studio, I also viewed some of her photography work. Beautiful and amazing!

I took my first ever photography class with Mary. Stumbled upon Lightscapes through Groupon. Wow, if I had only done it sooner. I have taken both the beginner and intermediate classes. I learned (and retained) so much from the class that I can no longer stand to buy school photos of my children, I would rather take them myself at the park! Mary is great and I would recommend her classes to any beginner (or above) that wants to take their hobby up a notch.

Overall the class was very informative and her “cheat cheats” are easy to follow however, the instructor did not have a lot of patience with those of us who were very new to our cameras. I would recommend this class for those who have a fundamental knowledge of SLR cameras and need help tying it all together.

I first experienced Mary's excellent photography skills five years ago when my daughter was born. She took photos of my daughter when she was only a few weeks old, and I still cherish those images as some of my favorite so far! Last year I attended a Lightscapes beginner photography class on SLR cameras. The 2 hour class was fast paced but informative. You bring your own camera and start with the very basics - identifying all of those buttons and settings you've probably never changed! The class quickly moves on to real life photo opps, including capturing a still life outside as well as an object in motion. Mary answers questions throughout the hands-on class and offer great information on what you do and don't need to purchase to get great photos. I recommend Lightscapes for both professional photos of your family as well as instructional classes.

Lightscapes offers a great variety of classes for the budding to the experienced photographer. The staff is very available for questions, equipment recommendations, and "tutoring". They even have an app to help with quick settings in various shooting conditions! Also, their photography is just beautiful. I have not had portraits or a session done there, but I've seen the owner's work up close, I know her personally, and it's top-notch! Highly recommend.

The class size was perfect and there were plenty of things around the building to practice taking photos of, and Mary was willing to pose and even had her assistant jump in the air so we could practice anti-blur. I've had the pleasure of being photographed by Mary twice now and I couldn't be happier with both of my experiences. Mary's calm and easy going nature put me at ease with being photographed, which is something I usually don't enjoy. Like many women, I don't find myself to be very photogenic yet Mary captured images of me that even I found stunning. What's more, through her editing skills, she was able to remove a slight wardrobe issue to the point of flawlessness. The photographer my husband and I chose for our wedding turned out to be less than professional and we wound up with almost no images from that special day. After hearing my story, Mary found a beautiful setting to take a series of bridal shots for me. She and her assistant did an amazing job and were able to capture what was missed seven years ago. Yesterday, one of my daughter's little boy friends happened upon one of the pictures from this shoot and exclaimed, "Oh! Ms. Callie! You are a princess there!" It made my heart smile. I had taken a photography class in College, but hadn't really done much since then. I signed up with a friend to take Mary's class as a refresher course. It was great. It truly allowed me to unlock some of the features I hadn't been using on my DSLR. It took my photos to the next level. Even though it was a 'beginner's class' it was tailored to where my friend, a true beginner with their first DSLR and myself who had been using one for a little while both benefited. Mary expertly handled questions and her hands on training was just what was needed. I recommend her classes to anyone that wants to improve their photography!
