I went recently to see Contact High: A Visual History of Hip Hop and it was so educational. I loved seeing the progression of hip hop through each artist/photographer/videographer’s eye and vision. It was amazing to see the people who helped define hip hop. The Annenberg Space for Photography is HUGE and I’ve only experienced a small portion of it, but from whathave seen so far, it’s an incredible place. I’ll be happy to visit again.

Squeezing in on the last day of an installation may not be the best way to experience a space for the first time, but that was our situation. We made it in to see the Photographic Ark and in total we had a good experience. The fact that they do this and charge nothing to the public (short of parking, but even that is heavily discounted with validation) is commendable and worth an extra star in the rating. We were surprised that the space was as small as it was, so there were narrow spaces with the work displayed throughout. The space was at capacity and that made truly taking in the work very difficult. It's unfortunate as well in that the limited amount of space had the unfortunate effect of making this truly huge project seem small. But overall it was worth the visit and I was glad were able to see this work, even if it wasn't in an ideal situation. It's also worth noting the staff was friendly and accommodating.

So we have been twice this year for both the animal exhibition and the hip hop and both were popular with our students. It’s free to go but you have to contribute to the parking if you want to stay in the park area for a picnic. I like it because in the week the students get to see all the city staff and know they have something to aim for if they want to be investment banker, lawyers etc. Very child friendly at the museum too.

Oh man. Contact High is such a rad exhibit. My friends and I were lucky enough to get a tour and get the background on what was happening during the photo shoots, why they were chosen and other little details. It was kind of sad at time because so many greats are now gone. Aaliyah, Biggie, Tupac, Mac Miller... glad they had these beautiful shots though.

Kinda small space with poor street access set amid shiny, towering edifices to Hollywood's extremely wealthy. DO NOT FORGET TO HAVE PARKING VALIDATED because it's $4.50 per 12 minutes otherwise in the neighboring building. All that said, we saw a beautiful exhibit of Joel Sartore's Photo Ark project - a little ironic in light of the surrounding excess.

Great chance to see really neat pictures for the 90s start of hip hop / rap thru August 25th 2019 we went on the last day the staff was very nice and professional there was a great video to watch about information and there was basically really cool rare stuff which you could take pictures of it was free to get in and they even validate parking to get it down to $1.50 if you go to their website they have all the information you can imagine on parking whether you’re handicapped in a car on a motorcycle walking whatever it is they have information for you very well laid out definitely recommend to go there if there’s an exhibit that you’re interested in

I love the Annenberg and Make it a point to go to the rarer after dark hours . Live music and food too but don't be fooled. The're giving you corn dogs and a veggie option so you hit the gift shop. It's a great gift shop though. Dinner and here is the perfect easy date. Parking is easy on Saturdays. We got here early but when we left, the line was very long. See art and eat after.

The ASP is a very small museum but with phenomenal exhibits. The museum is located at Century City neighborhood by 2000 Ave of the Stars bldg. Admission is always free. Public parking is available around the area. We went to see the Ark exhibit. It was truly amazing and quite an experience seeing those endangered animal species photographed. Staff are helpful and professional. Overall, I highly recommend this museum.

Went to see the Contact High exhibit of iconic hip hop photographs. The short documentary that plays near the front desk is a great intro and I'd suggest viewing that before stepping through the halls of photos. Another doc relates the behind-the-scenes action of "A Great Day in Hip Hop" photo with 177 legends of hip hop shot in Harlem by Gordon Parks. Many of the photos themselves are familiar from magazines, but still take on new life when clustered by photographer rather than era or group. Great for music fans and photog fans a like. The space itself is laid out well so that even the large numbers of ppl moving through the halls never collided or blocked each other. It doesn't seem that big and yet I was surprised by how much there was to see.

Awesome museum. Came here 2 separate times. Both times were amazing. The first time some larger event must have been going on as the entire court yard was packed with visitors and displays and exhibits and food trucks. Lots of amazing artists and art deeply portraying current and past history and issues. Second visit was into the smaller portion of the actual museum. The exhibit was based around 90's Hip Hop and couldnt have had a better time.

I’ve been to the Annenberg space for photography at least 20 times over the last five years. This is a premier place for photographs and for learning about whatever the subject matter is at the time of the exhibit. It’s free for the lectures and to go into the museum so that’s a nice thing$ At the present time does an exhibit about animals, see live and conservation. It’s definitely worth checking this place out but definitely call before you come down here as sometimes they may be closed between exhibits. The parking is at a major discount when you come here but make sure you bring your ticket up to the counter to be validated.

This place is always amazing. Admission is always free! Parking when validated and under a 3hr visit (usually plenty of time for the museum visit) is amazingly cheap. We recently went to "Not an Ostrich" and I can't say enough about the content and the documentary, however while the screens for documentary are amazing quality wise, the TV's used for much of this exhibit at the gallery really are too bright and contrasty and remove much of the nuance seen in the printed reproductions hanging nearby. I'd rather the museum focus more on better lighting and the display of accurate reproductions vs the equivalence of me looking up photos and viewing on my computer monitor...but don't let this complaint deter you! I make it a point to regularly visit this gem of a museum and often!

First visit to the Annenberg Space for Photography for the exhibit "Cuba Is." We were missing out on this incredible venue. Traffic was easy on a Saturday morning. In-house parking was $1.50 with validation. This is a beautiful complex with great landscaping, and seating in the open air. Great place to chill, especially on a weekend. The Annenberg is actually in two parts within the complex. Apparently, they schedule about 50 exhibits a year. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them. "Cuba Is" is a well-curated, well-documented exhibition. Very helpful labels are in English and Spanish. The photos seem almost personal, often tragic, mostly sad. The video documentary on Cuba, today, is fascinating, educational, and personal, introducing the viewer to interesting people, both photographers, and their subjects. I particularly enjoyed the combination of photography, videography, and music.

They vary in interesting ways -- country western stars, refugees, 100 year of National Geographic, rock and roll stars, etc. And it's all free (including parking) thanks to the Annenburg family. What a beautiful gallery. I went when they had the Cuba exhibit going and was definitely impressed. Located pretty centrally in LA near the Westfield Mall in Century City, this photography gallery/museum is a breath of fresh air. I would give 5 stars, however, finding it is a bit tricky as there is another building across the green that houses just a store and I thought that was the museum.

I really like the exhibits that they put up in this space. The space itself is not huge but they do a really good job arranging it so that the gallery feels much larger than it is. On the weekends it's only a dollar to park I'm not sure if that's true during the week. It is really nice there and if you have any interest in photography you should be visiting every time they put up a new exhibit.

You must go! I wasn’t sure what to expect when I visited the exhibition on selections from the national archives having never been before and reading/hearing so much about the exhibit made me nervous for a letdown. It was amazing! The building itself is an architectural beauty. If you like cityscapes and clean design you’ll be in heaven! The space itself was much smaller than I imagined after seeing it on TV “it’s all about shooting those angles lol” but they couldn’t have done a better job with it making you feel like you’re working your way through a much larger space! The staff is amazing! Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, you can tell that everyone there has a personal connection and love for what they do! Also, think about enjoying a picnic lunch in the large open green belt that is in the center of the buildings. Artfully designed with skill and precision I felt like I was in a lush garden protected by these 30 story steel and glass guardians!

We visited the Annenberg Space for Photography to see an exhibit of extraordinary animal photography by National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore entitled Photo Ark. Admission was free and it would have been worth a visit even with a normal admission fee. The building and it's surrounding buildings are examples of beautiful 21st century architecture.

We visited the Annenberg Museum of Photography to view the Hip Hop exhibit and found the museum to be small and quaint. The exhibit was amazing and displayed a piece of recent American history that brought together different people and ages. Some of the photographs could have used better lighting and might have needed to be repositioned. Staff at the front desk were very patron friendly.

This is a great small space that shows different forms of art. The parking is good there is a large parking structure below the venue. The parking is validated at the venue. The space is small but they use the area they have well and even have a small gift shop tailored to the current works on display. The staff was helpful and friendly.

The Annenberg Space for Photography is in a bit of a strange location, with no fast way to travel there from Hollywood, where I was staying. Hence, I took an Uber, which cost around $15-$20. Despite being in a remote location from the classic tourist spots, the ‘lunch-break area,’ is quite nice and very quiet during work hours, making it a nice place to relax. There are also opportunities to take photos of your own with skyscrapers, etc. The museum itself is quite small, however, the space is used very wisely with various exhibits on show at different times. I went during the new year period and they had a wildlife exhibit, which had pictures of different wildlife from around the world. A 15 (or so) minute clip ran in the area in the middle of the museum, which was nice as well. What is shown depends on the exhibit that is showing during that time. Admission is free and there is free WiFi. Overall, I would say that this is a nice place to drop in and visit, however, check what exhibit is showing as many people complain about viewing an exhibit that doesn’t interest them. Visit around 11-11:30am (they open at 11) and then walk to Westfield Century City around lunch time. Follow the office workers - most of them seemed to head that way for their breaks.

The day I went there was a photo gallery from America's Library of Congress. They had an early photograph of Abraham Lincoln before he wore a beard and a recently found early portrait of Harriet Tubman. The museum was not very big but the perfect size for me. Admittance was free. There is a small theater in the center of the building were we enjoyed a video presentation. The only thing I would like to see them change would be to make the text on the walls next to the photographs larger. The print was small and people stood directly in front of it. This took people too long to read and it caused the line to back up.

This is a really great place which is a gallery/museum and a totally worthwhile destination. It's a little tricky finding it, but you'll be happy you did. Every exhibit I've seen there has been excellent. On top of all this complimenting, it's free admission. A real Los Angeles gift to the people.

Absolutely breathtaking & enlightening. The staff is so nice, knowledgeable, & respectful. Definitely a must visit if you are a hip-hop fan, art lover, photography love, or looking for something to do on LA. Parking is very cheap, plentiful, and easy to access the gallery. The gift shop is pricy but you can find something for your price point.

Beautiful, peaceful location. Many different exhibits throughout the year. Easily accessible bit still tucked away. Green lawns and surrounded by tall buildings. Def a pleasant place to visit.
