This is my favorite pharmacy. They're really kind, very helpful, and they treat you like a human being and not a number or a dollar sign. They've helped me multiple times with confusing insurance situations and offered me tangible solutions when I started panicking because my prescription was canceled by a doctor on my old insurance plan. I don't even use the free delivery because I love visiting their historic setting! Reminds me of getting ice cream with my nana in The Berkshires. I hope these guys stick around because I definitely don't want to switch to anyone else!

The only place in the Portland area that I know of with old-fashioned phosphate sodas! I'm not a big soda drinker, but I miss phosphates. A very small soda fountain area inside, not aesthetically appealing or retro. No outdoor seating, either. Just go for cherry phosphates!

Cute little place and the coffee is delicious

I live very close to this Pharmacy and needed to get a prescription filled. When the wife and I came in and went to the counter, I there were about 4 pharmacy techs in the back, with all eyes on us. Now, I know they are busy filling prescriptions, but the feeling I personally got with all the stares and the delay to come to the counter was that there was a hesitation of "who's turn is it to help the customer." Other than that initial feeling everything else was great. It was my first time getting a prescription at that location, and I didn't really believe there was a soda shop inside but more of a retro sign from the past. There really is an old fashion soda shop inside, the wife and I went to the stools in front of the soda bar and looked at the menu - I had no idea what most of that stuff was besides the shake and Italian soda. Before I could ask myself if the soda bar was in service, a gentleman that was working in the pharmacy came over and asked if we needed anything. I noticed something called a "Green River" under phosphates - having no idea what a phosphate was in a soda, or what a green river was - I said "Since I have no idea what that is, ill try it." My wife got a chocolate shake - and the "Soda Jerk" asked if she wanted vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup or chocolate ice cream -- apparently that is really important for some folks. The green river is a phosphate soda, with a lime-ish flavor. The phosphate added makes it sour - the more phosphate the "Soda Jerk" adds, the more sour it will be - and he will happily add less or more upon request. Overall the experience was excellent - it was just that initial feeling walking into the pharmacy that made me mark the service down from excellent to very good. I will be back!

For over fifty years have been there GREAT people and helpful

Not sure what to make of this place. It wants to be more of that old school pharmacy where you could spend time getting a soda and hanging out. But when you do spend time there and your not just waiting for your prescription they look at you funny until you leave.

John Deodato

Great locally owned pharmacy. I've been getting my prescriptions filled here for years, and have always had great service. Much better than the big national chain pharmacies in town.

Eli Lynch

I'm changing my review from 5 stars to 1 based solely on trying to get prescriptions properly filled here. The milkshakes are great. It's a cool old Pharmacy with a Pharmacy staff that is completely incompetent. For years I've gotten a prescription here. Every time getting the full prescription was a battle. They had to order it, gave me the wrong item, ect ect. The male pharmacist I dealt with yesterday was completely wrong and offered zero practical solutions. I wanted to use these guys because they are local and a landmark. But now I know why my doctor rolled his eyes when I told him where to send the prescription. How they've been open so long? I do not know.Go for a soda or a milkshake. Don't risk your health getting a prescription filled.

Wonderful smalltown feeling! Very personable employees. Great customer service!

Old school amazingness. I walk-in and they remember who I am and everyone else that walks through the door. There isn't any spelling your last name twice and yelling out your birthdate as they rummage through the pile of pill bottles. Sometimes I run in with a quick refill and they...wait for it ....fill it right then and there. There is a milk shake counter and seating. The staff is highly engaged, highly educated and are authentic. I recently moved and had to go to the local Safeway pharmacy where everyone hates their job. I decided my health is worth the 45 min drive.

There aren't many soda fountains left and this is a good one with much of the original decor completely intact. They have umpqua ice cream and milk shakes, friendly service and even the pharmacy was bustling. The girl even sold me stamps with my ice cream. An older gentleman in poor health came in, got a prescription from the pharmacy then came to the counter and ordered a green river, perhaps as he did when he was a boy. One day no one will know what a green river is, so I appreciate when I have the opportunity to step back in time and share the moment with him in a place which has served countless neighbors and endured for more than a century.

BEST MILKSHAKES IN TOWN WITH A PRICE YOU CAN"T BEAT! Only 2.50 for seasonal milkshake. Generous portions!

sarahdawn burbank

love fairleys they have been our pharmacy for over 10 years .

Nathan Cobb

The shakes are wonderful, the espresso is hard to beat and it sent an older couple down memory lane. The place seems like it has been frozen in time. Just sit down, order a malt, and put on some Buddy Holly.

Old school pharmacy with a jewel box soda fountain. Excellent pharmacy service and premium ingredient made-to-order shakes, malts, sodas, etc. Sweet and old fashioned.

Phosphates. Don't care that its not the real thing. They're so damn good. If you're into sour treats, treat yourself to a tall one of these. I literally get cravings for them. What you doing to me Fairley's... I know you're a Pharmacy but... Aw man, got em on Speed Dial. 9am seriously? Killin' me smalls.

love this place it's been here for quite a while one of the very few old-fashioned places around right next to Jim Dandy'sthe milkshakes are wonderful the coffee is either good or decent but I do get a wacky vibe seems like they don't want you there sometimes

Angela Stephens

Reasonable prices for REALLY GOOD milkshakes.

matthew siegel

This place is an old school ice cream shop/ soda fountain. You feel like you stepped back in time while sitting at the counter have a shake or an egg cream soda. Worth the nostalgia. They might have used this place in Drugstore Cowboy.

This review is solely based on the interaction I had with the employee on the phone this morning. I planned to visit this place because I’m new here and am originally from the east coast, where I used to get egg creams. When I moved away I realized egg creams, let alone fun flavors of them, are actually really rare to find. I needed to go into Portland for a pharmacy anyway, as advised by my pharmacist in order to continue to get birth control even though I lost my insurance (switching jobs, it takes 90 days to get on the new plan). So I thought this was the perfect place! Until I called to ask a simple question about the birth control thing - and I have never been treated so rudely by customer service in my life. I’ve never been so upset (or upset much at all) because of how I’ve been treated by an employee on the phone. Incompetent is one thing, but this person was straight up mean. Once I was completely shut down for what I was asking as if I was an idiot, I asked the employee to explain a bit more, and she just spouted off more non-helpful sentences in an awful tone. I tried to switch the topic to ask about the soda shop but I could barely get out my question because I was actually shaking. I just talked to another pharmacy and what I was trying to confirm is correct. So I was treated awfully for no reason. Thanks for ruining my day and reminding me why this world is such a hard place to live in. (Your attitude hit me right in a trigger, obviously).

Forget the big box you're only a number to those stores . This pharmacy give you personalized service with the emphasis on the person . Plus you can have a fountain treat while you wait . Yes they have an old school fountain (ice cream to you youngsters)

After trying Walgreens who doesn’t accept Care Oregon, and then repeated comically bad experiences at the Safeway pharmacy across the street, I finally switched to Fairley’s. Duh. Should have started here. Really relaxed, fast, mellow, and friendly service...plus ice cream.

Brady William

I had been going to this pharmacy for over 3 years. Everyone there had generally been nice and welcoming to me. However, I'll just say this: Do NOT be fooled by the staff's friendly demeanor, especially Bob (I believe he's the lead pharmacist). I'm not sure if he's just going through a mid-life crisis or just a angry dude, but about two months ago I walked in to pickup a routine prescription. At some point, Bob approaches me and randomly starts going off on an angry tirade while also not letting me get a single word in. He accused me of doing the most outrageous things that even my doctors could verify were entirely inaccurate & demonstrably false. I will NEVER go back there after the way I was treated. Stay away from this pharmacy, or at the very least, avoid Bob at all costs. You've been warned.

The young lady insisted on talking to her friends rather then getting the orders done, I waited 10min an never got served ,I didn't Evan get a hello, all she said was I'll be right with you an continued to talk to her 2 friends sitting at the bar she kept saying let me put these two shots In here for you to her friends then she continued to talk, about someone talking about the shorts she was wearing, and the started talking about how someone who her friends new came to apply for a job there , then after giving them there drinks continued to talk to her friends not Evan asking me any questions on what I would like to order , I eventually walked out mind you I been coming here off And on my entire life since 2001 the times have defiantly changed in the customer service area

David Santen

Great service, helpful staff, locally owned and classic shakes.
