Clerk was very rude to me. Very unprofessional attitude and bad customer service. I would not recommend anyone go there. I ended up leaving without purchasing what I needed because I was that upset with the clerks attitude.

Good for you! To all those who are complaining that it's sexist towards men, imagine how us women feel everyday! We have to pay SO MUCH even for basic needs like feminine products for that time of the month. It makes no sense! Men don't want to see us bleeding during that time, and yet they punish us by overtaxing us to purchase the products to hide the signs of our periods. And if you don't believe there is such a thing as the pink tax, go buy a package of toilet paper, and a package of pads/tampons and compare the taxes. You're in for a rude awakening.

I dealt with Gary the pharmacist. He is a liar. He told me the script I was buying had a 45.00 copay for a 90 day supply (after giving him my insurance). I choose to just get a one month supply. After contacting my insurance after the fact, I find out my copay should have been under 5.00 for the 90 day supply. This guy will side-step insurance to make an extra buck. When I confronted him on the phone, he said all he could do was give a receipt to submit to insurance even though he is participating provider.

This is a well-loved local gem. Talkative staff with lots of useful advice, and they get in some really interesting products - kinda like a French pharmacy. I’m not against the chain stores, but this place is one reminder of how much better an independent truly can be. Don’t notice a price difference. There are waaaay too many fake reviews here by a bunch of bros deflating the true score. Why, because this place offers a discount to women. Which I just learnt. Which is awesome.

Gary is an important part of our community here in SoHo . The approach at Thompson Chemists is always what would be best for the patient or the customer. Horrible customer service, bad attitude when asking for help. Highly inflated prices, damaged merchandise. Asked what the difference between two products and told to Google it and figure it out myself. Then throw on the "male tax" which even if it isn't a "tax" and just a discount it is still illegal. Great "activism" by breaking the law. Waiting to see them get in legal trouble now.

My new go-to pharmacy after the sweet, cute pharmacist at Organic Planet in Williamsburg disappeared. Owner is old school NY and gives the place a friendly neighborhood feel; pharmacist is fast, informative, and charming. In additions to Rx, they carry all the best essential toiletry items you'd find at Whole Foods.

This place was a dump, the prices were pretty bad (even for NYC) and their customer services was the opposite of unhelpful. Furthermore, despite being a woman, the person behind the counter tried to charge me a "man tax" because I didn't live up to their beauty standards for what a woman should be. Absolutely despicable.

The woman running this place is practicing systematic misandry (hatred of men) and discrimination on the basis of immutable characteristics, which is illegal under NY state law and could result in a fine up to $250,000. I'm prepared to join the inevitable class action lawsuit because reading about this dreadful pharmacy has caused me emotional distress and pain & suffering.

If you're going to try to raise awareness, do it right and effectively. This is a HORRIBLE introduction. Men are NOT being charged an additional 7%. Men are being charged the normal tax rate. Women are just being EXEMPT from the 7% tax covered by the owners.

Thompson Chemists is a rare, gem of a store in this day and age of computers, self service and impersonal consumer checkout. The owners Gary & Jolie actually care about their customers and community, engage with them and are there to answer all questions. They have eclectic hard to find beauty items from around the world and a stellar pharmacy built on trust and credibility. I chose this spot as my first in store product location for my beauty business because I was touched by the owners’ genuine enthusiasm to care for their clientele.
