This Pharmacy belongs to the category of Pharmacy.
great place to eat! The staff are wonderful. The pharmacy is fantabulous
My husband and I love this place for breakfast the food is scrumptious! The best chili on this side of The Rio Grande and the staff nothing but smiles, attentive and most of all courteous.
The shop is nice but the food is a bit over priced and people are snobby. I need to find a place where people are real.
Durans is a very unique place to visit aside from getting my prescriptions filled. They have the most amazing things from local jewelry that is beautiful and priced well to the most unique socks to handbags to very unique greeting cards. They have wonderful candy too. Just place a visit to Durans you will not be sorry the restaurant is also very good. customer service is also very friendly staff.
The food was OK....not my cup of tea, and did not like the red chile sauce. Stick to the green. Service was perfunctory at best. It's all college kids waiting on you in there and in the gift shop, and that always is underwhelming. Stick with Monroe's.
Sometimes feel as if unwanted ...but I love a particular New Mexican liniment. ..otherwise hard to find
I love this place so much. The food is good and the people are so lovely and attentive. This is an ABQ staple and the employees are really what add to the experience.
I used to love this restaurant but after the experience I had. I will not go back. The bathrooms stunk and were dirty. Food had hair in it twice. Service was worse. I even asked for my food with an extra corn tortilla and the waitress response was oh we’re to busy tho cooks won’t make it when we’re busy. I’m paying to eat here. Ridiculous
Kids love beans and cheese
I have taken to visiting The Man's Hat Shop in Albuquerque whenever we stay in Santa Fe. I asked Bill at TMHS for a good place to eat and he suggested Durans. What a great lunch and what fun we had with our odd-ball waitress! Highly recommend for the great food - the tortillas looked amazing. I had the combo plate. Also, the gift section of the pharmacy rivaled that of any hoity-toity gift shop in a major city. Great selection of very stylish, unique and cool items. Got my wife a Moma perpetual calendar.
We ate at the cafe. Food was tasty and service was very good. Shop the pharmacy for the various items they offer.
I love the food and the environment of this restaurant/pharmacy. The food tastes amazing! The particularly love the taste of the green chili but their red chili never disappoints.
Awesome selection of gift, souvenir items- original and fun!
WHOA is all I can say about this food. My husband and I were visiting ABQ, and had read great things about this place. I don't even know how to describe why it is so good; I can try by writing that everything seems so fresh; the beans, the veggies, the amazing tortillas that they roll and fry literally right in front of your eyes, but it seems like more. The service is amazing - sit at the bar, I recommend it - you will not be disappointed. The staff works so well together, they seem to really like each other and get along, which really makes the energy of the place so much better. Let's put it this way; we were literally in town for three days, and we ate at Duran's three times. It was that good. I am a foodie, and I would tell everyone I know to visit this place if they are in town. I can't stop thinking about it.
Hands down the best compounding pharmacy in Albuquerque. Personalized services provided with a smile.
Excellent food in true New Mexico tradition. Amazing service and always worth the wait.
Google gets it right again... I had the Carne Adovada - which the waitress gave me a taste of first... Wow...only on Thursdays, though.
Delicious everything and killer red chile.
Tortillas are fat and doughy, which I don't like but a lot of people do. Food is good but overpriced. Service is average.
What happened to this place? Walked in on a Thursday evening to a group of super rude employees. They mumbled loud enough for us to hear them say, of course, they want to sit at a dirty table. Please don't do me ANY favors, don't have a sign that says seat yourself and then make ignorant remarks. Three of them stood behind the counter, not doing anything to provide and level of customer service. I left, and will not return. Told the kid in the store, that the employees in the resturant were rude, he asked which one? I replied...all of them. Then he started acting like, I was bothering him. So I left, where's the old crew? Or supervisors? Donna would never of treated any customers like the treatment I was subjected to! Get it together, it's no wonder the place was empty, your employees are embarrassing and customers are leaving.
Great food and friendly staff!!! Can't believe we didn't find this place sooner!!!
I was disappointed in the staff at the gift shop. Not helpful at all. In addition I found the prices at be 10-15% higher than suggested retail prices for the same items in town. I did not eat here and most likely will not be back.
I purchased the Torpedo, which while tasty, lacked any type of meat. The tortilla's were fresh and good, and all the filling was great too, but it really needed some meat. Next time I go, I will have to add it on there.
Is it possible to walk into Duran's just to go to the pharmacy, without stopping to eat once you've caught the aroma of the restaurant? I've done it, but it's not easy. Duran's has one of my favorite red chiles, but I've also enjoyed their green chile stew. My favorites include that stew, the breakfast burritos, and the carne adovada. The freshly made tortillas are a little thicker than I would prefer, but still good. (I don't want to get caught up in a heated tortilla controversy, being a transplant.) Service has generally been good. When I was brand new to Albuquerque, and making it to Duran's more often than I do these days, Donna knew me by name after probably just a couple visits! The pharmacy is good as well, with some distinctive wares.
Great place, with a bustling business. Many attractive options on the menu. I had the huevos rancheros, flour tortilla with butter. They were really good and filling (no dinner for me). Because we sat at the counter we could watch everything being made, including the tortillas which were constantly being rolled out and cooked. Everyone was super friendly, including the other people eating at the counter.
Food was awesome! Didn't expect for it to be so good. Plus they have a cool little store in there. Donna was a great waitress!
Go here for lunch quite a bit and the food is wonderful. Tortillas are excellent. Today we were completely ignored. Sat in the middle of the restaurant ignored. Step it up! You have loyal customers who routinely recommend you.
on more than 1 occasion Pharmacists made changes to my medication without even discussing with me, techs would give me a hard time trying to refill medications by rudely implying i should have more left that's just not very kosher with me poor excuse for a "friendly" pharmacy
Red chile, best in the city! "Whatever"" restrooms! NOT ok!
The real deal. This place is amazing and I don't even like NM food very much. Worth the walk from Old Town (it's faster walking than driving at this time).
This is one of the coolest spots I have ever been!! After or before your amazing meal head over to the gift shop. This gift shop is not an ordinary gift shop. This gift shop has alot of awesome gifts. Alot of new Mexican traditional merchandise. Did o mention the food it's amazing. Not big portions but good. However the tortillas are huge and yes you want butter on it!
Really great red chile. Freshly-made flour tortillas. Excellent service. Wonderful neighborhood place.
Red chile is so tasty and the fresh tortilla with butter is divine. Everyone should try the Huevos Rancheros! I also spent a ton of money in their unique gift shop!
Yum! A little pricey for NM food, but very homey feel, and great breakfast. Probably my favorite spot for red chili. If it's packed (it's always packed), be prepared to wait a bit. GF options as well, fresh and delicious!
The turkey tortilla with green chilies was delicious. Friendly service, and reasonable prices.
Well.... mark off a couple of more places I"ll never go back to...first Roy and I went to Duran's for Brunch...the place was busy, we waited and waited, finally got to make a beverage order, then waited and waited, finally ordered, again, waited and waited and in the mean time I got up and got my own refill of coffee. When the orders came out, they were both wrong and Sophia had a nice hair stuck on the plate...Wonderful....needless to say I was pissed. We got up and left and went across the street to The Vinaigrette....
The pharmacy also has several aisles where you can get everyday items. The store is clean and the staff was polite. There is also a restaurant located on the premises. The food is excellent! Two words: Red chile
Duran Central Pharmacy is a great place for food and gift items. The boutique in here is a little more upscale and fun than the average drug store. They have great purses, souvenirs, kitchen items and gourmet food stuffs here. Then there's the diner - very low key and simple in the best way. Old school diner in atmosphere more than looks. Friendly, seasoned wait staff. On point diner selections. One of the better Christmas Enchilada Plates I had on this trip. Inexpensive. I will definitely return on our next visit.
first time here , food ,waiter (Isaiah) was worthy of a trip back. will be back sooner than later . had the chips and salsa, combo plate and a taco plate with chicken. we left here with our pansas llena. (full belly's)
Makes me think of my grandmother cooking it is hidden in the pharmacy. food is real authentic New Mexican. This place a must.
Absolutely the best red Chile in Albuquerque!! Order the Bowl-a-Donna, it is truly the best combination of flavor and perfectly represents the dedication and love that the staff puts into everything they serve! One of the only 5 Star ratings I have ever given, and I would probably give it a 6, if possible, because of the attentive service and awesome food!
Great service very clean and well kept also very great food everything is good !!!
Great simple breakfast. I had an off menu dish “Joe’s special” beans, potatoes with red Chile poured over and a tortilla the size of a dinner plate. This meatless dish is the perfect vegan option.
My dad has been eating here for about 10 years now & me about 3 years. Everytime I just a order a breakfast burrito with green Chile & I have yet to be disappointed. The food is always delicious.
This place is amazing, Red Chile is great. Donna was our waitress and was awesome. Will definitely be back, only wish we found it sooner!!!
I like to support local businesses and this place is amazing. I love a one stop shop - I can get my meds, a gift and amazing enchiladas all in one place. If you have not been - GO.
Love it. Eat here every chance I am in Albuquerque. Homey, simple but tasty food and the cutest, little, old style, variety store for shopping. Pick up a gift on the way to the airport. A step back in time... Strong Recommendation .
The pork tamales with red chile sauce were great.
Excellent! Not expecting great New Mexican food at a pharmacy. Actual New Mexican style red chili. Once they got my order wrong and brought the wrong dish. Not to worry, they left it, then quickly brought me the correct dish and only charged me for the one. Both were excellent. Felt bad I had to leave so much great food.
Great food and a great environment! You have to visit if you live or are visiting Albuquerque!
Had a bowl of red chile with beans and meat, as well as one of their big flour tortillas. Delicious. Cheerful service. Fair prices.
Love this store. So much cool stuff.
Worse experience ever. Took my family in on Sunday to experience some good food. We were the first people in the restaurant and to sit down. We waited 1 hr to be told our ticket was lost. Very poor service by waiters and manger. Food mite be good but we did get any chance to get any as it was regulars got better attention. It was an experience that was quickly turn bad. Don’t recommend at all. Very disappointed And I can’t post without a star as they don’t deserve one
The lunch counter here is one of the best places to eat at in all of Albuquerque. I especially love their red chile enchiladas and homemade tortillas. I've been know to schedule my flight into ABQ so that I can make it to Duran's before they close.
Love their tortillas
The best place! The best red sauce I have had since I've moved to NM. Will make this a regular stop when we are In Albuquerque
Our waitress was horrible and slow. We waited 30 minutes before our food came out when it came we had to get our food to go. We paid over 30 dollars for lousy service
The only good thing about this restaurant is the tortillas all the food and ingredients like Chiles and beans are can food would never go back or recommend this place
Food was burnt
Great service, friendly staff, amazing food and a fun atmosphere. The red chile is amazing and the fresh flour tortillas are a must.
Always good! Alway hot and taste chili- red and green are both yummy.
Great food. The best red chile in town and how about the flour tortillas, as good as grandma's. The wait staff is super great. They know your a regular so they ask you what you want to drink and know they don't have to bring you a menu cause they know you enough to realize that you know what you want.
Healthy portions of exceptional New Mexican fare can be had at the Duran Central Pharmacy. The service is top-notch and friendly. Our coffee cups were always kept full and warm. The Huevos Rancheros will satisfy any hunger, as will the gigantic breakfast burrito. You'll need a healthy appetite to polish off the plate. In most places, I'll skip the green chiles and go for the red chiles. This is a mistake at Duran's. The green chiles are the choice--full of flavor with a healthy amount of heat. The red is good--but the green is the bomb here. Yes, you'll have to wait for a table. But it's worth the wait. The food is good, prices are reasonable and the service is what will keep bringing you back for more. Enjoy!
The food is amazing, the service however is terrible. I get the same old waitress every time I go. She is rude and unhelpful. She greets by asking "what do you want?" and takes my order as she is walking away. As a result she often gets my order wrong. I recently discovered there is another location on Menaul, though it is a much further drive I will be going there from now on just to avoid that horrible woman. Chile is amazing, great New Mexican food but horrible service at the downtown location.
My mother went into the store and was embarrassed by an employee exploiting explicit content, while my mother was with my 5 year old sister. Extremely unprofessional and she should be fired.
Cute shop. Lots of things to look at. The 3 enchilada and bean plate was good but the green chili was very hot. The beans tasted a little under cooked. My mother's order of huevos rancheros came with mashed potatoes. Yes mashed potatoes. Very strange. Service was good. The patio area is cute.
Duran's is legendary in Albuquerque and they continue to prove it. Come for the awesome stuff they have in their store or maybe to fill a prescription and stay for the authentic New Mexican food. You would never guess this gem exists in the back of this store if not for the amazing smell you get from the parking lot. I got the breakfast burrito with bacon and sausage. I wanted to "Pepsi" challenge the green and the red chile so I went Christmas. Both of them were excellent. My lunch date had the green Chile cheese burger which was reminiscent of a burger from the fiesta's. I've been looking a long time for a burger like that.
Favorite breakfast restaurant.
Worst service I've ever had. The potatoes in the breakfast burrito were like dehydrated mashed potatoes, chili had no flavor. Our server, walked away while asking how our nasty meal was, so we were unable to tell her we were not pleased. I felt more like an inconvenience than a guest. For the price of our meal we could have had double the food at Wecks. We will not return
Definitely my favorite place to get some ACTUALLY great Chile! Staff is phenomenal and food is amazing! If you haven’t been here, it’s a MUST! The server Donna is so much fun and great enthusiasm. Cruzita is a great server as well! Can’t wait to go back almost on a daily :)
The store has nice what I call "closet gifts" you know.....the kind of an item you buy, take home then put in the closet. Please note, they will not refund your money should you find you have to return it. They will give you an in store credit which can be applied to other items within the store. However this credit, is as I understood it, is limited to sundry items. Example, if you need a prescription filled you cannot apply the refund to offset the cost of the prescription. As for the restaurant, terrific food and staff......the best!!!!.
The sopapillas were amazing! The customer service was incredible. And the hand rolled tortilla was like a food lover’s dream.
Great food and service. Gift shop is excellent also.
I have lived in ABQ since 1986 and Duran's still has the BEST green chili chicken enchiladas in town--anywhere! For a amazing treat, definitely go to Duran's Pharmacy restaurant. I recommend the blue corn tortillas with that.
I ordered chicken tacos and they were bomb. My husband ordered red chile enchiladas and they were fantastic. The red chile is the best ive had while eating out. The tortillas are made fresh and so was the pulled chicken.
Awesome pharmacy with cool shaving goods and gifty things. Also delicious little eatery tucked away in the back. Killer bowl of chile.
Service is top of the line, management was spectacular, the food...... The best beans and potatoes I've ever had; homemade taste to perfection. Fresh tortillas... Deserves more than a 5
The food at this quaint pharmacy, is a must! The red chile too die for! The pharmacy has friendly staff who are happy to help!
Dont walk, RUN to Durans Central Pharmacy Restaurant! This is one of my favorite restaurants in Albuquerque. The restaurant is open seating so find a seat where you are comfortable and grab the menu - you will find lots of delicious options. I am a creature of habit and my favorite meal is a torpedo, which is a tortilla stuffed with fried potatoes, chile and cheese - I add bacon and chopped green chile inside and smother it with red chile. It is incredible! I will include a photo so you can see the deliciousness for yourself. The plates are filling and I have not had a meal here that I didnt like. The chile here is perfect. One thing that makes this place so amazing is the staff. We have sat in Cruzita's (I hope I spelled that right) section many, many times. She knows us and makes us feel like we are visiting a family members house every time we go. Not like grandmas house, but like your awesome, fun sister who makes you laugh till your face hurts. I LOVE it. The truth is, ALL the staff at Durans are a huge family and everyone works together to make your experience awesome and they work incredibly hard to take great care of you. Delicious food + great customer experience = Durans!
Best food in ABQ.
I live in Brownfield TX. & while back while working in Albuqurque, I stopped in to check the place out. Liked it so much, I took my wife back to New Mexico just to hang out & told here this is a must, so we went in & found it fascinating. I didn't buy anything at the time but went back home wishing I had bought a knife I liked, so I called up there & a young lady by the name of Karen helped me out & in a week later, the knife was in my hand. She even sent me a thank you card for doing business with them. We will return to expireance the restaurant next time. I hear it's delicious...... Thanks Karen.....
So far the best place I've been to in ABQ! Red chile was perfect!
(Translated by Google) Jueves Rancheros are thw best qnd homeade tortillas !! (Original) Juevos Rancheros are thw best qnd homeade tortillas!!
best red chile
Prescriptions delivery is all I got to say.
Awesome local hidden gem! Grandmas fresh homemade tortillas and great huevos for anytime of day!
Ruby our waitress was out standing, the food was good but the service made our morning and we will come back.
The food was soooo good but I do suggest getting the Chile on the side bc IT IS SO HOT! Lol. We sat on the patio and it was beautiful outside. The huevos rancheros were 10/10 tho! Can’t wait to come back.
I used to work there in the pharmacy some years back.could not afford to eat there on what I was making from them.they were always.cutting corners and pinching pennies is very important to them. This is the pharmacy not the food. I know little about the food. Pay is the lowest allowed. They lit into one of the technicians some years back and she quit. I could not understand why they would do that to someone so capable and trained. I ate a few times in the lunch room and the cost of the food was not worth the value.
We're fans of many items on the menu but the Torpedo is our favorite! Green Chile chips and salsa too.
Duran's is the absolute best. The pharmacist bends over backward to help his customers. Seriously big hearted help! So glad I found this place!
I can't decide which I like more - their service or their huevos rancheros. Both are phenomenal. You can't go wrong here!
Restaurant and pharmacy are great. Fabulous service.
We are here for dinner during our vacation. I had the huevos rancheros in a red sauce. My bf had the chicken enchiladas in a green sauce. The both came with flour hand made tortillas which were quite good. My bf's green sauce as awesome. The red sauce on mine was quite bitter, to the point where had I not mixed it with other things, I would not have been able to eat it. Service was good. I would go back!
Kids love it
Definitely a new favorite! Best Mexican food I’ve had in Albuquerque for sure. Super attentive and friendly wait staff, tortillas are hand rolled and made fresh, the chile tastes like it was at home.
I had always driven past this place over the years while venturing into old town via Central. What made this place appeal to me was the nostalgia element that surrounds it. People of my generation aren't exactly familiar of when local pharmacies were spots of hangout; a place where folks could not only fill their prescription but grab a good bite and perhaps indulge on something sweet in the process. Duran Central Pharmacy is one such rare place that not only continues daily operations nearly two decades into the 21st century but apparently does it rather well. When I arrived last week I was finally able to experience some of this nostalgia for myself. After finding the restaurant, which is somewhat hidden on the south side of the pharmacy. I was able to seat myself and take a good glance at the menu. The menu isn't exactly extensive, but it does feature a few New Mexican essentials. Also, be on the lookout for the specialty board which sits near the only entrance into the restaurant: that's where I was able to see the daily offerings. One of which was the stuffed Sopaipilla, which I'm a sucker for. After placing my order and about a ten-minute wait: my food arrived. It was an extra 2.50 for the inclusion of beef (kinda pricy) and I couldn't help but find the presentation of the platter to be a little bit curious. All the garnish, beans, and meat were placed atop the sopaipilla instead of inside (as you would expect considering the name of the dish). Perhaps it's the restaurants own creative take on a New Mexican classic, but it was one I could have gone without ever knowing. Despite this, my meal was ultimately very satisfactory. Everything was well cooked and seasoned just right. The chili is a little spicy so be forewarned about having them pour too much on. The sopaipilla, however, was a standard above the rest and was everything a fried Mexican pastry should be: soft, thick, and fluffy. It made my lunch all the more special and also had me wishing that I could've taken and addition dozen or so home for later. Duran Central Pharmacy is unique in its own right and features some pretty decent food and warm atmosphere. Whether in the area or passing by; it's a place I recommend you at least consider.
The service was fast and friendly would definitely go again. :)
We went to Duran's tonight on the recommendation of a friend who lives in ABQ. My husband ordered blue corn enchiladas. I ordered huevos rancheros and a side of sour cream (to go). We browsed the gift shop while we waited. An employee brought our to-go to us and we left (after buying some cute merch) Everyone was very nice to us. We returned to our hotel to eat, and when we brought out the food we discovered that my husband's enchiladas were NOT the blue corn he'd asked for. My sour cream was not there; there was a small side cup w/some diced lettuce and tomato. We are disappointed that our order was not as we had ordered and paid for. Please, Duran's. You must send the correct to-go items. We trusted you. This is the kind of thing that makes us not wish to eat there again.
The food took an hour. We ordered a burger and a torpedo. Very simple items to make. Our waiter Brandon B was very slow and the burger was undercooked.
Food is always good! Donna is our favorite, she takes good care of us.we have been coming here for over 20 years
Yuom, best foods. And I get my scripts here. Sheeiiit I love this place.
Good blue corn chicken taco and guacamole.
The young kid working the register was harassing a woman with her service dog, repeating to her that, "For future reference, the manager would not appreciate her bringing a dog into the store." The dog's vest clearly says "Service Dog" on it, and a sign on the front door clearly says that service animals are welcome. She tried explaining rules set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act regarding service animals but he wouldn't listen and just kept repeating himself. For future reference, this business employs rude young people who are utterly oblivious to store policy. For future reference, I'll never return, and I'll make sure to tell everyone I know to avoid this place like the plague.
Great food . Original NM Cuisine . Donna the waitress is great. Will be returning when in Albuquerque .
This place is great. We were in Albuquerque on vacation and decided to try it although at first weren’t sure with it being in a pharmacy. We were wrong! It is a really cozy place and the waitress and all the other staff super friendly and professional. The waitress was very helpful and sweet as I was undecided on the dishes. The food was really really great, fresh and with that homemade taste, and she convinced me to have a fresh homemade tortilla with butter on the side. OMG. I have been dreaming of those ever since. So much so that my husband and I tried to make some tortillas ourselves
Just waited 10 minutes at the lunch counter, no one even said hi. Walked out. One star because zero isn't an option
. Best local business in Albuquerque
Cool and unique new mexico themed things in their gift shop. They cost a little more but its not stuff you'll find on the internet.
I was a skeptic at first about having food at a Pharmacy, but it was recommended by a local and am glad that I visited this place. The good is great, the tortilla is amazing when it is freshly made and warm. The pharmacy is also good selling wonky and quirky products.
Best power-breakfast or lunch spot in town. Whimsical selection of goods in the shop, real people who actually enjoy talking to their customers work there, and nearly everyone you'll see is a regular.
Durans was very busy so i ordered my red chile enchiladas to go. When I opened them up to eat the cheese wasn't even melted. It had a powdery, dry flavor when I tried to eat them. The cheese just fell out everywhere from the seemingly uncooked tortilla. The chile was good. Hence the one star. For $10.00+ I expected better. Sadly, I won't be returning.
Great food. Red sauce is special. Tortillas really good. Service just ok. Highly recommend, just wish waitress paid more attention to get order right.
Great food and super friendly and attentive staff.
Wonderful old-timey pharmacy with a large selection of local artisan and New Mexico kitch giftware as well as a 5* breakfast/lunch diner hidden in the back! The covered patio on a Wednesday that isn't too hot and veggie stuffed sopapillas (not really stuffed, smothered really) is heaven. I suggest splitting them with someone and getting a side of salad and a buttered tortilla to share. NOMS! Bonus points for flavorful but not too hot red chile, best I've tasted in the year since I moved to ABQ.
Very friendly staff, which I believe is family owned and operated. I usually just pick up prescriptions, but there is a large selection for your drug store needs.
The restaurant food was great. But something had changed and no one knows the difference. Imitation cheese.
Fun place, great food and fabulous gifts. Donna was the BEST server ever‼️
Best tortillas in town
Great, small place to eat at back of pharmacy. Food is very good, from enchiladas, tacos, & sandwiches. Service very good, and friendly people. Helpful to strangers as well. A hidden secret for eating. Worth coming back to, & I will. Came sept. 2015, so not busy for lunch.
