Absolutely poor service I came in 2 weeks ago and spent 300 dollars on a fish tank to start off the service was great then I came back tonight and the lady who tested my water says I don’t feel comfortable selling you fish she doesn’t recommend anything to fix the water problem it my first tank I new it wouldn’t be great so I kinda brushed that off after I found some one else to help I got some water treatment and when I go to check out the cashier insults my last name and were I work he says your last names horvath and you install bathtubs that’s funny like if my family wasn’t with me I would have lost my temper reall quick people need to grow up and do your damn job will be making a call to there manager tomorrow

If I could give zero, or even negative, stars I would. I almost never write bad reviews but after the experience I had tonight, I felt it was warranted. I took my dog in to be groomed. I 100% admit I had waited too long since her last grooming and she was matted. I received a call 30 or so minutes after her appointment time and was told they couldn’t trim her because of the matting and that I needed to have my vet do it. I called my vet right away and got other recommendations. I went to pick my dog up and her haircut was practically finished. They left her head, bottoms of her feet and a small part of her stomach unfinished. She looked AWFUL!!!!!!! And what about them not being able to trim her due to her being matted?!? I immediately took her to one of the other recommended places from my vet who easily and quickly were able to get her remaining hair shaved off and made her look great. I can guarantee with 110% certainty I will NEVER be back and will do everything I can to recommend other places than this to anyone needing a groomer. PS my groomer was Megan and I was not impressed from the second I met her. Her attitude and interactions were terrible. Goodbye Petsmart!!!!

Frankly the employees definatly aren't the nicest but I'll admit the cage they had me get for my guinie pig is holding up but its to big for him. The one assisting me pressured me into getting a cage only three inches longer for four times the price but in the end the guinea pig can't reach its food bowl nor its water bottle. So I obviously had to modify it a bit but it wasn't to hard. Though the thing that got to me is that she didn't say anything about the cage size until after she asked if it was my first time owning one and figuring out it was. So it definatly wasn't my best time there and thats considering the lizard I got there had half its tail ripped off by the one getting it for me.

We used the PetsHotel at this location. It was pretty impressive. You need your vets records with updated shots in order for your pet to stay here. You pick from a selection of food for your pet to eat while there. You pick what "room" you want your pet to stay in. There are several add on amenities you can add on for your pet. Overall happy with our experience here. Would use again if our vet is full on boarding as they are more expensive.

I do not like this store at all because when I was there looking at the small rodents and animals there was a russian dwarf hamster that was being bullied by the other and had blood all over his head. I had only been in the store 5-10 minutes and noticed it how could the workers not. Then, when I told a young man he said he would be right there to get him out a few minutes later I went to get him again and he was checking out a fish. I was highly upset abd concerned for this hamster so I went to get someone else and they came with a plastic tub and went to scoop him in. They didnt want to handle him because he could be aggressive. I wonder why he would be aggreasive. Lastky. i asked to hold and geaunie pig and the same young man stuck his hand in there and picked him up by the back. That is not the proper way to handle a guinea pig by any means

Although a very nice store, nicely organized and very clean, it is obvious that anyone can work here. There are very few people in the reptile/small animal department that actually know about the pets that are being sold. I have been given slightly false information on how to care for a bearded dragon that I bought here, trust me, Google will teach you much more than most anyone inside of this store. The PetSmart brand of reptile equipment (All Living Things) is a crock. The dome light fixtures are not equipped for how hot most all basking bulbs get. I had a bulb melt into the socket on one of my domes as well as see one of the All Living Things bulbs melt the entire top of a friend's bearded dragon enclosure. There are hardly ever enough small crickets to feed your pet at home, which leads me to believe that there are also probably not enough small crickets to feed the small reptiles that are being housed there as well. I had an associate tell me that the large crickets were fine and that he throws them in to the very small bearded dragons, which is totally not fine. If people do not come with the education and knowledge they need for a department, they need to be properly trained for it.

Honestly, i love the amount of attention and care that seems to go into taking care of the animals they sell. They're typically all active and healthy. Although some of the younger employees they meet can be rude, and don't seem to care about animals in the slightest, making me wondering why they would even apply or why anyone would hire someone with no customer service skills and no interest in the animals they handle.

The store is always clean and organized. They have great pricing. The associates that work the front part of the store are always willing to help. The grooming area on the other hand is very disappointing. You do not have to have an appointment for getting nails trimmed and I get it they're busy, but if you tell me you can do it now I expect you to have patience. The one associates name was Ericka and I am not sure of the other ones name, but I will find it. She took my 10 month old Yorkie to the back grooming station and hooked the leash up. All is ok at this point. My pup gets very nervous and she was already annoyed by shrugging her shoulders and giving dirty looks. You would think she would pet the pup and speak to him to show she wasn't going to hurt him. Well she asked the other associate to help her. Ok so now I'm watching and this is where I told them to STOP is when she forcefully help my pups face. He think became frantic. I yelled to STOP. That was crossing the line. They then proceed to lecture me. Every other time I brought him in for a nail trim they completed the task no issue. The staff is rude. I will no longer bring my pup in to this location for any grooming services.

All the staff know him by name, he's always excited to go there and plays his little heart out. it's a nominal cost and well worth it to know that he's happy during the day while I'm running errands and not sitting at home bored.

Pet smart is good and all standing on it's own, but they probably have the worst live animal selection I have seen recently. Also there is close to a 0% chance they will let you hold anything, which helps to socialize the animals (especially things such as snakes and tarantulas that need to be socialized to be a good pet)

The High schoolers that work here work only for a paycheck and they don't understand how to take care of the potential pets especially the reptiles. They do however have hard to find dog food.

The salon staff were very rude when I walked in inquiring about nail trimming. They all looked upset that I arrived , one even rolled her eyes (salon manager) and said it would be a 30 minute wait for a nail trim. I was told to wait outside the salon. I was completely fine with waiting 30 minutes for a nail trim. After an hour no one paged me and no one acknowledged us (my two young children and myself) waiting outside the salon through the glass windows. I complained at the front desk about the poor customer service and I will not be returning. Being busy is not a good excuse for being rude.

There was a young employee in the fish department and he was so knowledgeable and polite to my child and I as we were having to rehouse our Pleco and sad to see him go. He directed us to the snails (as we were looking for one in replacement of the Pleco) and he told us everything I wanted to know about each one of them. He was right were he belonged, kudos to him for actually learning about the stock. The manager was also very polite and enthusiastic to let us see the adorable ferret on display and give him a pet.

The store has everything. They also host Woodstock Animal Foundation Saturday. I wish I could have taken home all the dogs. There was one in particular. The owner surrendered her because the family got a new dog and the dog they already had didn't get along. All I can say is thank God that dog is no longer with those people (who are not the true example of a family). Would God turn someone away for not getting along? Thank you Petsmart for hosting them!!

Groomers are too young and are not properly trained. Cut my dog several different visits and didn't report it to store or to me. A lot of broken policies and bad attitudes. My dog is terrified of this place. Do not recommend!

Took our dog to get a bath and it cost $75 for a bath, nail grinding and teeth brushed. Way overpriced. On top of that- when we went to drop him off we watched one of the groomers (Ciara) treated a dog they were working on terribly. She was getting aggressive and yelling at the dog as the dog almost fell off the table multiple times. It was horrible to watch. All the other employees just sat back and allowed it to happen for an extended period of time before stepping in. I’d never trust them again to take care of my dog- if you want your dog to be treated well, go elsewhere. I’ve heard stories like this about petsmart but this is the first time I’ve actually seen it first hand at this location.

Been with Petsmart for 11 years. One time at Okalona store, they nicked my dog Max leg and he was agitated. I took him to the Hurstboune store and everything was fine. Now they have given me 2 different stories at the Westport rd store why they wouldn't allow him to the gooming department. First they said the last time he bit someone, i was never told that when I picked him up. now they said they he tried to nip at the clerk Amanda. my dog would never bite anyone or nip at them unless they hurt him. I tried to go back to the Westport rd store and the Manager Robin never called me back. I had to call them back after several days and the store manager Rodney was worthless and couldn't make a manager decision without checking with someone else.. If your manager, put your big boy pants and make a decision and take care of your long time customers. Terrible experience and Petsmart is going downhill.. I hope you don't have any stock with them. If you do, sell now.

Took my dog for scheduled appointment. The girl that greeted me was rude and seemed put off that I actually arrived 5-10 minutes early. The groomer came out to greet my dog, who he had groomed before, I believe, and determined she was too hyper. I explained that she has been groomed there with success multiple times in the past, but we were turned away. This was the first time a groomer ever evaluated one of my dogs prior to working with them, which leads me to think their staff lacks the confidence and experience to handle an active dog. The store is run down, quite understaffed and the cashier seemed inexperienced as well, with no one around to guide her. I will never return here.

We had to stop here to get a thundershirt for my dog. We bought one on the trip, but it didn't fit well, so we came here for a larger size. My dog was well within the weight for the first one...but he has long hair. We bought a larger size here...which fit him better and was longer....however, neither shirt helped our dog. I had 3 pets stay at the pet hotel for 4 nights, 1 dog and two cats. The employee closing out the pickup appointment with me said they had never had experience issuing refunds. This was after they forgot that two cats staying together is a lower price. The right price was already reflected on the appointment to drop off the pets. I asked the employee about an event that happened for the pets on the day we dropped them off and they had no comment.

Needed same day appt for small rescue dog that needed shaving. I called their 888#. They made appt same day at 1:30. After arriving a 35 minute road trip, Petco at Springhurst did not have my appt and stated they were booked until end of next week. Proceeded in calling the 888# back and was told the agent that took appt incorrectly entered into old booking system and not new system. I ask them to call the other two locations in town and they were also booked out. All I got was sorry which just doesn't cut it. At least they could have given next visit a discount or free grooming. It was like sorry for your luck. They just lost this customer by the way it was handled. Don't bother replying back with your typical "we're sorry and looking into the matter". Who cares! The assistant manager was incredibly rude to my mother. She was trying to purchase a bird that she has been searching for months. She needed a fax number in order to complete the transaction. He handed my mother the fax number and when my mother asked if the bird was tame, the assistant manger rudely said “I don’t know anything about it, it’s a baby and that’s all I know.” And then walked away. My mother left the store upset and with no bird due to this man’s rudeness. We’ve been going to this pet smart for months and never had a bad experience until this time. Please fix this situation.

I don't have a lot to compare a pet store to, but this one is closest in our neighborhood and the one my wife frequents. One thing I can comment on, however, is that the grooming services are good. We utilize them for trimming our dachshund's nails and they do a great job. There is also a dog daycare center there and although we haven't utilized it, I feel it is great if you have a well adjusted dog you need to have someone watch for a day or so.

The isles are tight feeling when walking in them and you feel closed in walking around. No thought at all into this store. Went there to by food for my wife's conures and the poor parakeets were so cold they were huddled together, neither habitat had clean water, no bathing dishes for them to ckean thereselves and when I said something to them they acted like I didn't know what I was talking about and clearly showed me they had no idea how to care for them and they didn't really care anyway. I like this PetSmart because there's a pets Hotel, a vet, and a groomers, all in one. All of the staff is very friendly and helpful and I love the location it's near my house. They always have great deals especially if you have a Rewards card. However, I do not like the doggy day care here, because there is only one small indoor area (like 300-400 sq. ft.) for the dogs to play and they mostly stay in the kennel all day. Other PetSmarts have two separate rooms for small dogs and big dogs or even a small fenced-in yard behind their building. This one is extremely small and I don't like how every time I take my dog there as soon as she leaves she has to immediately pee and poop. Like she has been holding it all dat and didn't pee and poop while there. Which makes sense, since they only take them out of the kennels to go play in the small indoor room and my dog knows not to go to the bathroom inside. So I don't like leaving her there for 8 hours a day while I'm at work and knowing she's holding it the whole time and not being able to play. There are other dog dog day care services around Louisville that are much better for your dog. But other than that I love the store, it's very big and has a nice selection of every kind of pet you could have needs for. .

My daughter and i went in today looking to purchase her first pet. A beta fish. She went over to the fish isle to find a tank food and of course the perfect new friend. A guy helped us out. Saying the prices of the fish were messed up. That helped my daughter pick out a even better fish. He was bright red bug and bold. With hints of dark blue that twinkled and his gills. We grabbed him up and of to the register we went. To girls working the registers were so excited to see the fish. Ine saying she has one herself. The other asking was there another like it so she could grab one too. My daughter smiled saying nope hes all mine Only to find out her gift card was declined.ouch right. Well of course mommy called to figure out it was never properly loaded and the gifter was willing to pay me back for my purchase of the fish. We went back into the store only 3mins and 37secs later not to be exact but hey it was very soon after only stepping away for a call. The girls at the front along with the guy whom had help us ( now up front chatting with the one who checked us out) informed us they had put it back she couldn't wait just a sec. So we went back to retrieve him. Only to find he was not there. Now here come mr. Helper i asked him where had he just put him at. He said with a fixed face back were he was at first hmmmm. Oh well another 3 family's had just came in looking at fish only 3mins ago all to have been no where in the fish aisle.. i only want to voice the fact. Those workers was so concerned for what they wanted they took it from my daughter. She is very strong she knows the world is cruel even pet stores when buying fish

I would advise staying away from Purchasing crickets here. They are either always out of them or they die the next day. We had at least 1/2-3/4 die by the next day!

I scheduled a grooming appointment for my dog and set it up where she'd go to daycare the rest of the afternoon once her grooming is done. Unfortunately my dog didn't get a chance to go to daycare, but was still charged for a half day at daycare. However, Joanna called me about 30 minutes after checking with the daycare staff and apologized since she didn't actually go to daycare and gave me a free full day of daycare. I just wanted to say thanks again. The entire PetSmart staff does such a great job taking care of our dog!

We found a flea on our cat and freaked out and went to Petsmart! "Andrew" showed me where to find the flea treatment for cats. I picked out a flea collar, home spray and shampoo. I asked if there were any coupons online and he said he wasn't sure but the store will price match with the online price. He pulled out his phone and looked them all up and checked me out and I saved $13.00! Andrew was kind, courteous, patient, knowledgeable and very helpful. Be good to him Petsmart because you've got a great employee!

Went in to get some calming supplements for our nervous dog and joint supplements for our senior lab. After checking out with Jeremiah, we noticed that pur lab had tried to steal a tennis ball along the way. Not only was Jeremiah super cool about it but bought the 99 cent toy for him. I purchase the treats there, about 3 boxes every other week and when they see me come in and the registers are not open yet they know that I'm headed to work next door and always help me get to work on time by opening one for me! Good place in to shop for pet supplies. They have helpful staff and can even special order almost anything that you may need. Only compliant is that they do not and will not sell snakes or an extensive selection of reptiles. They have a limited section of fish as well. This store is best described as a pet supply store but not a pet store.

I'm a regular. My Shih Tzu LOVES the staff at the grooming salon and pet hotel. The latter is expensive, but the staff are very good. My only complaint is that the Pet Hotel doesn't tell you that you're missing a necessary shot for your pet in a timely manner.

I came here to purchase a parakeet and some toys for the cage. The staff was friendly and quick to assist me with getting my bird. The parakeets looked healthy, and had ample space to fly around, but some of the cages didn't have very many toys, which are important for keeping the birds stimulated and happy. There could be better training for staff when it comes to small animals. I've noticed that team members sometimes give information that is incorrect, such as how to introduce a new bird to an existing flock. I did not see any informational pamphlets or books available. Thankfully the Internet and local community have no shortage of helpful information for pet parents. The toys I purchased are of good quality, and I have not seen any defects. I will likely shop here again if I need more supplies.
