Petco has been our go to for 3 years now. My fur baby Cici loves Amber! Amber does the absolute best job in taking care of our Old English Bulldog. The staff is always extremely helpful. I see them doing classes all the time. I always can get in and get out with out waiting drastically long times. We love Petco!

Parakeets had brown poop filled water bowl and one of them actually drank from it. Perches were dirty too. The bigger birds had dirty water too. Told the guy stacking catlitter and he changed it. Mindboggling that at 11:30 no one has given the birds fresh water and food yet and think stacking shelves is more important. Update: Manager contacted me and promised that it will never happen again. Sure enough I went in there today (2 weeks later) and the associates were in the middle of cleaning the whole parakeet enclosure including all the perches. All the other birds had it nice and clean too

I've only been to this Petco twice but both times the staff there was awesome! The first time I was there for quite a while with many questions for the lady working and she was very patient and very helpful as well. I would definitely recommend Petco to anyone looking for their pet care needs. They have an amazing selection of products for all types of pets. This one's on Hurstbourne Lane which is why I've only went twice because it's pretty far from me. I would definitely shop there more often if they had one closer to where I live. They definitely deserve five stars and then then some.

Good selection of items, foods, and treats for all sorts of critters. I was particularly impressed by the look of the iguanas and chameleons. Most places, those poor things look half dead. Theirs looked bright, active, and healthy. Someone (or several of them) there know how to care for uncommon animals. No dogs or cats, but I think they have rescue days.

Not too bad, thier customer service is good but they are a bit lacking as I feel most pet stores, not all, are in the sense that they take care of thier animals and reptiles by the so called book which in real life sometimes can be unrealistic, and even lead to unhealthy pets, which is why keep the warranty and because thier so by the book, thier info they give can be wrong unless you really find as worker in one of these bubble gum factory pet stores, that actually owns and has pets will you really get the easy common sense way of taking care of any animal. If it sounds complicated it's probably untrue. In all this stores is not bad the people are fun and friendly and 9 times out of ten your get yourself a cool pet.

We drive truck and my ex brought my our two dogs in last week. One is a schnauzer/ terrier and they did a good job on her. My other dog is a 5 lb Yorkie and the shaved him completely bald. He looks like a rat and I’m pissed! They will never touch him again

UPDATE: Went in again today and a girl helped me who was very knowledgeable and helpful! I've never had fish before and she told me everything I needed to know and helped me pick out what I wanted and what would go well together. I waited ~5 min before I was acknowledged standing at the register while I watch 2 associates assist a customer on a hamster while over hearing them talk about inappropriate conversation. Not ONE person told me welcome to PetCo, ask if I need anything or find something in the store. Once associate was complete assisting the hamster customer she said “apologize for keeping you waiting”. Might have been bad choice of words asto me it is acknowledging I have been waiting - she knew - but no regards to my time or the money I was giving to the company. Once ask me if I was a member I told her no as I would not be back. Again no regards to rectify the situation. Poor customer service!!!!

It is not legal to pay tax on the before sale price...the amount of item price should only be taxed...if a hammer is normally$10 and is on sale for $8, I would only pay tax on the $8. Nickle and diming... this is stealing!

My two favorite things about this store are selection and customer service! The amount of products for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, ferrets, rodents, fish, and birds is absolutely amazing! The food and treat choices are staggering! The customer service has always been wonderful! Sometimes, they seem a little understaffed, but they will always help you with any of the products, or talk with you about dog training! This store offers cat adoptions and hosts dog adoptions! Every Christmas, Petco has photo for pets with Santa! This is my go to store for pet goods!

Most of the employees are very knowledgeable and kind. One employee there rolled his eyes at us when purchasing a fish, so he is the reason we took away a star. We go there multiple times a month for fish, chinchilla, and parakeet supplies. We know what we need and how to care for our pets. Every encounter with this gentleman has been like this; impatient and unfriendly. Everyone else is amazing, ESPECIALLY the other two employees we've had assist us with fish. Kudos to them. We could use Amazon and get supplies cheaper, but those employees are the reason we keep returning.

It's a decent Petco. The prices are Petco standard (pretty low), but the selection at this site is usually low for fish, small animal, and bird supplies. Dogs and cats have a better range of toys, food and accessories. It's not the newest, cleanest pet store, but the animals they do have are well cared for. The staff, however, are great. One of the cashiers who is there frequently usually remembers me, and always makes nice small talk about animals. It's in a convenient location at a shopping center, easy to find and park.

They once had a staff that actually cared and built relationships with customers! When I would go into Petco they knew me by name they even knew all of my pets names. Sadly most of that staff is gone! The staff use to be very passionate about educating guests and spent actual time teaching how to properly care for the pet that was about to be purchased. Now almost all of the current staff seem uneducated and unenthusiastic about the jobs they are attempting to do... I will admit the store looks more clean and organized then before but it does not compare to what this place use to be it’s just a depressing atmosphere with gloomy employees (except Allison and Johnny) I hope that the gloomy employee’s are replaced very soon!!

Worst grooming experience I have ever had! First off the groomer did not know how to cut a Border Collies hair, she tried to make him look like a lion. She was rude, condescending and management was equally as bad. I had taken my dog there in December and a different groomer had done an excellent job. She said she charged us $60 because he had some sort of special bath to make him smell extra good. Well, I told this person I did not want the special bath, just the regular bath was good enough, well it was still $60! Then when he wasn't groomed correctly she said bring him back, but when I did, they said they didn't have time to groom him. Worst experience ever. Even though Ankeny is quite a ways away, Pet Smart has always done a great job and will be worth the trip. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE FOR GROOMING!!

If I could give the Grooming Service here a 0 star, I would. The rudest staff I have EVER encountered, and my dog has gone to Petco's across the country. They asked me, "Has he ever been groomed before?" My dog goes every 4-6 weeks. They tried to defend the bad haircut they gave him, because my dog "wouldn't let them get close to him. That's why he looks the way he looks." No one has ever told me this before. The staff also asked me, "What are you feeding him? Is your dog extra gassy? You know there's tablets you can get for that." Seriously?! No, he isn't overly gassy and I've never noticed anything. But if he is nervous and if you are mean to him, he might have some farts. NEVER go to this groomer, I don't think she is even certified. Just want to help anyone else out that may consider this grooming service!!

By far one of the worst Petcos in Colorado. Update! They put freaking paint on their ball pythons heads which is beyond inappropiate. As usual fish are very poorly cared for. Staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. Had a ton of attitude over being told i didnt want the tetra with the damaged jaw... Ended up hitting the poor thing with the net trying to get him out of the container and into a tank. Selection was minimal as it is with all the fish stores in the springs which is why i ended up at this dump. Dont buy live animals from petcos or petsmarts.

We've been very happy with Petco. We just bought our daughters a freshwater fish tank, and a salt water fish tank, and we were pretty clueless as to how to get the salt water tank started and what we needed for it. Thankfully the very knowledgeable employee Jason was more than happy to get us started, answer all of our questions, and find us everything we needed. He took the time to explain everything in detail to make sure that each of our new tanks would be successful and that the fish would thrive in them. We've been back three times now and every time Jason has been working and willing to help us further. He is not only great with adults, but also very patient and friendly with our two teen children. We are also happy with the rest of the store, it is clean, the animals are happy and well taken care of, the employees we have spoken to as we were being checked out were also friendly and helpful. We will keep going back to this store time and time again. We are very happy there, they have everything we need, and they make it enjoyable to shop there.

I would shop here for almost anything, the toys are great, large amount of natural food options is awesome for healthy pets, tons of treats, thick metal tags that last long. I use the 10$ self wash for my dogs, i just wish the blow dryers were stronger. The store is always clean and they have a great staff, when the large food size was out of stock they went ahead and price matched the smalled ones price per pound for me, not to mention they send out coupons often. The only thing I don't buy there is collars, they have hardly any martingale style and the fabric is cheap. Some items can be overpriced compared to other stores but its worth it if you're getting multiple items. I have had bad experiences in the far past with petcare and have heard things about grooming, but they seem to have improved everything recently.

In short, I would not recommend this location for grooming. Highly unreliable. Called Friday to make a grooming appointment, and staff was really understanding when I called a second time to change the appointment from Saturday to Monday at 9:00, and that I needed it early because I was leaving Monday to go to Washington. Then the trouble started. I received a call Saturday morning to verify the appointment for that afternoon. I explained that, no, the appointment was made for Monday at 9:00, and I was told no one had written the appointment down. Fast forward to this morning, when I make sure to be at the store 5 minutes early, only to be told the groomer has not arrived and it's not the first time "Kensey" has had this issue. The assistant manager on staff wasn't even aware I had the appointment. Although I understand it's not the assistant manager's fault, it's irritating that I was then asked to call back tomorrow (Tuesday) even though I had stated I would be traveling out of state. So now I'm left hanging for both a grooming appointment and resolution.

There are no guarantees on saltwater fish and I understand that fully. However, I picked out a nice and healthy lawnmower blenny that had a large tummy. That is simply what healthy ones look like. I was told by the unknowleged staff that it was pregnant though and I could not buy it. She proceeded to grab another out of a rock and gave me that one. I should have inspected it closer to see just how frail it was (skin and bones). I didn't notice this until I was home unfortunately. A trained and knowledgeable staff should have seen this however and notified me on its condition. This was not done, also the fish was not even double bagged (its the middle of winter in Minnesota). I called right after getting home to ask if I could return or exchange and was told a blunt "No". Not an apology or anything. So in short, only shop here if you want horrible service from poorly trained staff. If you want great service and super knowledgeable staff, go somewhere like World of Fish.

I recently bought crickets from this location for my leopard gecko and after having them in a cricket keeper with only calcium water chunks and powdered cricket diet for less than a week, as well as after feeding a third of the batch to my gecko, within 24 hours the remaining 30 crickets died all at once. When I was about to feed my gecko I realized this, looked closer, and saw what seemed like hundreds of maggots coming out from all of the crickets and lining the bottom of the keeper. I'm assuming this batch of crickets was possibly infested with some sort of parasite because I have never had this happen to me with any of the other crickets I've bought. I would post pictures but I ended up just tossing the keeper in the trash immediately because maggots were also crawling around the outside of it.Thanks Petco!!

I went in to buy some starter fish for my 20 gallon aquaruim I had set up the week prior, and I noticed nobody was around to talk to, so I looked around for a bit, and when I was ready to find some assistance I went up to the counter and the man was kind and asked me if needed help, I of course did. So I was directed to the fish sellswomen. Right off the bat she was unkind and impolite! She hassled me about my tanks setup, and interupted me everytime I tried to speak, informing me everything I did was wrong. I hadn't waited long enough for the tank to cycle, I didn't purchase the right brands, I should consider this or that and do this or that before purchasing fish! I took great offense to that, I had done my research before coming in. I had set up my tank a week pior so it could circulate, I got a filter, a heater, the dechlorinator, I took great consideration of the gravel and plants that were going in, I even went to one of their other locations who helped with my tanks set up and made sure I had everything I needed. They told me it was alright to put fish in the tank after one week or so. I followed their helpful instructions and the ones I read online to a T! I am well aware that certain fish have different needs and some are harder to take care of then others, but I was looking for recommended fish for my beginners level, not a lecture on how my fish will most likely die the moment I bring them home. No, I am not a PROFFESSIONAL. Yes, I am a beginner. But that doesn't mean I am stupid, nor that I can't grasp the concept of how to take care of my fish! I can honestly say I have no idea what I did to have given her that impression, as I said, I did everything I was told. I didn't go in looking to buy a tank and the fish in one day, I wasn't asking to get 10 billions kind of fish and put them together in a small fish bowl. I had my set up ready to go. I just wanted a few starter fish of the same kind, and add more in a few weeks. I had valid questions. It really didn't matter what I said, I was wrong. I was very flustered and was about to just give up and wait the extra week like she told me to, but decided to go ahead and get 3 male guppies. She was to say the least very irritated I was going against her proffesional opinion. I wasn't even allowed to look and pick out the ones I wanted! Ok... Yes, a little childish, but I was Sooo excited about this and getting to pick the ones I wanted, it was like being a kid in a candy store. This was suppose to be fun and special, but it turned out to be a petco-trip-from-h-e-l-l-. I went into the store I super happy to talk and pick out my fish and start this new hobby. After that... I felt disheartended and questioning if I did the right thing. But now... After taking my new baby fishies home ( after taking the right steps to settle them in their new home) I'm glad I didnt let her ruin it. They are enjoying their new home, and I am enjoying watching them swim around. At the end of the day I know I didn't deserve to be treated that way, no one does. I will still continue to shop there because one, I will not let her drive me way and, Second, they still have other really nice employees. I will refuse to purchase any more fish from that locations. I am sorry if this seems jumbled and confusing, I still am very upset with what happened and needed to let it out. I hope no one else has to go through that.

The staff here is always helpful and go above and beyond to ensure we find what we need. The trainer Jess has been crucial in helping us train our dog and working with us to help us someday earn our Canine Good Citizen Certification. Kaitlyn in the grooming Salon is always amazing with our dog Bella and makes it a pleasant experience even though Bella doesnt always enjoy being wet. :)

What's the point of windows into the grooming room when you get told you're not allowed to watch your dog get nails clipped because it makes it harder on the groomer?? Guess we'll be finding a different place to go for claws.

Very clean and prompt service. Staff was super friendly the only down side is petsmart had a reward club that let me save $70.00 on a ball python and $5.00 on a parakeet. Dry Petco you guys got severely beat on prices.

Sure I've had the occasional employee at this store that gave less than excellent customer service but this isn't the only one and it isn't so uncommon in any establishment nowadays. Nobody is perfect and it's not always so easy to not show a difficult day to customers when you're on the register side and yet it's so easy to pick those apart that do when you're the customer and I've been on both sides of that argument. We're all human. The products that I've purchased here have thus far been excellent or have been returned hassle-free. I love their coupon program for customers who adopt shelter pets.

I've been taking my cat, a Ragdoll, Jave, to this groomer for about 5 years now. Yes a cat to the groomers! OMG YES a groomer who can groom cats. Jave says the skill and patience required to groom a cat far exceeds that necessary for canines......afterall they drink from toilets! I give these awesome groomers a Tail's Up! UPDATE: we have learned that our favorite groomer is gone! ARG! These new folks, though say they are trained are getting " permission" to be allowed to groom cats. Yikes! Don"t know what to say!

I returned a product called Stink Free that was GUARANTEED to remove cat urine odors. I returned one-half of an expensive $30+ dollar bottle to Petco. They gave me a 50% refund because I used one-half of the bottle. I emailed customer service at Stink Free because they said the product was guaranteed but I have not heard from them. So, it is not guaranteed by Stink Free or Petco. Do not purchase this product!

I really love the deals there. It just sucks that when they get shipment in that they have no room for the pets and so they leave them in boxes and not in cages in the back. Like hey! If you need someone to help then I'd rather hold them then watch them be tortured in boxes. Again love Petco but that was hard to see.

It’s a shame I can’t do less than 1 star. I took my dog in to this location to get groomed & she came out looking like a 3 year old did her hair. I spent over $50 for the worst grooming job ever! I called to complain and the manager did not show any “empathy” for my frustration. He offered 30% off for me to drive over 30 minutes back to their location to get her hair fixed. I will NEVER go back or spend another penny with this poorly ran Petco location.

Their floors are dirty, and their pet food is always expired. I challenge anyone reading this review and go into this PetSmart, pick a 4 ft section, and look at all the dates. I'm willing to bet you will find out of date product. My husband and I told the 3 staff members standing around the front counter about a specific sectuos having out of date food, and they acted like they cared... 4 days later, the food is still on the shelf. Is it policy to have cat and dog food 3 years out of date? I'll be going to petsmart from now on.

The staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable. I chose to no longer shop at this Petco because they directly support unnecessary breeding through selling animals at their store. I feel better about shopping for pet supplies across the street at Wag n Wash where they sell great items and not animals who have been bred to make money.

1) Sometimes it seems like no one works there and you have to walk around just to find help. 2) Almost always some fish tanks are unavailable to pick from "fish under observation" now you could take this one of 2 ways: they actually care and check on fish quality/health often, so they are always trying to give you the best quality OR the health/quality is just that bad that they always have an issue and can't control it... You decide 3) Otherwise they have a good variety of stuff but the price kinda shows that as well

Very helpful. Have a cat that has thrown up with every food we have tried. Went in last week and the gentleman was very helpful and spent probably half an hour with us trying to think of different foods to try. In the end tried a couple of them and 1 worked. Went back tonight to get more and he stopped what he was doing to see if any of them helped with actual care for our pet as though it was his own. Definitely going back.

Had a great experience at Petco today. Grand opening weekend and they were ready. Walked in and they were giving out $10 gift cards as well as frisbees, dog balls, and treats. Staff was very welcoming and engaging. We also had the opportunity to play with a few rescue cat's and dogs. If we did not have a full house, we would have left with at least one of them.

my life is a mess

my dog rolled in something smelly and I asked Dusty (a groomer) to focus on her neck and chest. when she came out the smell had not changed. it still smelled.. BAD. dissappointed after payung about $50 for a special shampoo to get the smell out. i wont be giving these people my buisness again in the future.

Went here twice the first experience was good but then second time I went I wanted 3 diff. Fish and she didn't know what to do so she got the manager. The manager which was a witch came out and got my fish but very abruptly like I was a inconvenience to her. I got a total of 10 fish and 3 we're dead before home before acclamation. The staff working at this particular pet co has been nothing short of fantastic. When dealing with the public even nasty customers that try and threaten to use things like google reviews or Yelp to hurt a business, they were still nice. Products are always stocked on a regular basis and we take our dogs there to help socialize them with people while purchasing supplies. Also, the puppy class instructors are very good and will do everything they can to accommodate for the wants and needs of you and the others in your class In addition to the above, if you need help finding anything, the service is fast, friendly and professional. No extra long drawn out conversations if you're in a hurry and informative help from someone who really cares about pets.

Grooming experience is HORRIBLE. They cut your pet how they want and expect you to be happy. They have horrible customer service and good luck trying to get someone to answer the phone. The store overall is pretty decent when you can find help. Most of the time it’s always short staffed.

I was not overly thrilled with the layout of the store and it took me awhile to find the bird section. No employees were around to ask to point me in the right direction. Their bird section is literally two small rows on half an aisle. No bird treats or toys to be had. I went looking for a toy for my dog as well, and found this selection small and wanting.
