My first appointment was a no call/no show and after my second appointment the treatment has not seemed to work! I called with several questions because this is my first experience with Mountaineer & the lady on the phone spoke very harshly & even preceded to yell. The worst customer service I have ever experienced! Received a certified letter in the mail today stating I owed over $500. We had our initial service in December which we paid for in full! Service was recommended to continue monthly for an additional two months, then quarterly. The technician had my mother sign a contract with no knowledge of what was being signed. She doesn’t even live in the home! I was NEVER told a contract would even be presented or I would have never had them spray to begin with. Upon receipt of said letter, contact was made with the office where we were told “ we had a lot of people cancel service this past month, so he decided to threaten them”. The unprofessionalism on display here is deplorable. How do you sleep a night taking advantage of people like this. B E W A R E !!!!!! Apparently they believe this is how you do business. For the record, it most certainly is NOT!

I've been a customer of Mountaineer since 2010. In the last 8 years, I have had no complaints about their services. Their personnel have responded to my requests on many occasions, keeping my home termite free. I only rarely had them spray inside the house, but each time they did, it was very effective. I find their prices are more than competitive - I paid a lot more per year on my last home. And for those complaining about contracts, I have no idea what they're speaking of, as I've never had one beyond termite control, which I paid from up front.

I have to say the tech that came out customer service was great, very friendly. However the customer service from the home office ladies horrible, uninformative, assuming about company procedures and rude. I had a year contract with these guys and everything was ok. I say ok because for some reason a monthly service is still not enough to get to of pest. I find it very hard to believe it takes that much treatment when most services come out a few times a year. However one month we ran into some issues. I fell low on cash so I hesitated to receive service for the month because it's a $50 charge everytime they come out. But lucky the service technician cancelled on me twice one being a "no call no show" honestly I wasn't a big deal because it gave me another pay period to pay for the service. During this time a missed service month easily went by and low and behold I receive a letter from a collection agency. They cancelled my contract with no communication or reasoning. And when I called I was greeted with a matter of fact attitude. But she couldn't even tell my why I was cancelled stating "she couldn't view my records because it was turned over to collections. I gave them I one star because there is a dire problem with the excution of communication between the client, the service technician and customer service. Without reason or care to communicate my contract was cancelled by the company. In my opinion, "they do not care about their customers." I told this to the manager on the phone and I can tell she could care less. She can not be apart of the owning management by her knowledge of procedures and ability to care about a customer. *Advice there are plenty other pest control services to choose from besides Mountaineer. Do your research because I'm not the only one and yes most are making you sign contacts but Mountaineer may just cancel your contact on you.

After 2 weeks of 4 broke appointments, rude owner, lies from office staff we are no longer doing business with them. We just hired them 2 weeks ago and still have ants. And lost money we paid them!

Great service for the price with excellent technicians! I purchased the inside and outside pest control along with the termite bait traps. We've had issues with little black ants getting into our kitchen and they came out right away, free of charge because it's part of the package, to do a follow up spraying and we have been ant free so far. I can't stress enough how amazing the technicians have been with both attitude and work performance. We've had issues with other pests and they have a great response time to my requests. I could not ask for a better service as I am about 4 mos into our relationship.

The reviews on here must be faked. I wish I checked other review sites before calling this place. After using their service one time and it only worked for about a week, I decided to call another peat control company who took care of our issues and have been about 2 months without a single bug. Only to find out that I supposedly signed a years contract with mountaineer. I paid with a check when the tech came that day and I assumed the papers I signed were just giving him permission to spray and walking me thru what he was treating. I was never told it was a one year contract. Not on the phone when I called for the apptment nor at my home by the tech who was spraying. This is an absolute scam. You should be honest and up front about your contracts as I see on other websites I'm not the only one this has happened to.

Mountaineer Pest Control in North Augusta continually double charges my account. It has happened over and over again. When you call, they speak nicely to you, but provide no actual assistance. I always have to leave a message. When they call you back...oh wait...they don’t call you back. You have to call them back, but when you do there is still no resolution to the problem. Still waiting... **Update in response to the owner Just to clarify...I first called on Monday morning. I was told the bank must have made a mistake and I would receive a call back. The call never came. I called again on Tuesday and spoke to Elaine. Elaine told me that Kelly was the person who would be able to help me. Kelly was busy at the moment and would need to return my call. I also asked to speak to a supervisor. Elaine informed me that Michael, the director, was not in. I asked her to leave him a message to give me a call back. Well, damned if I wasn’t surprised when neither of those fine people returned my call. When I called today, Laney answered the phone. She was pleasant, but unable to assist. I asked, once again, to speak with a supervisor. There was no supervisor available, and one would not be available until Monday. I was forced to leave a voicemail. So I left a voicemail. The owner is “sure” that I will receive a response by Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. I’m not as confident... I’m actively shopping for new service. Happy Thanksgiving! **Update Friday, November 23, 2018 I did, in fact, receive a phone call this morning. I've been assured that a refund is in motion and that I will not be double charged in the future.

Mountaineer Pest Control is without a doubt the best pest control for your home. I have used several other services and spent a lot of money with no results in getting rid of my pest problems. I finally chose Mountaineer and my problem was solved and for a fraction of the cost. I was treated not like customer 31317, but as a person and a home owner with a real problem. I have been with Mountaineer for 13 years and their service is amazing. They are always dependable and on time. IF you see a bug a couple of weeks after your most recent service you call and they come back and spray again at no charge. I've only needed to do that one time. I have always been impressed with the manner in which they manage their company. Greg was my technician and he truly went the extra mile. One week after treatment, they were rarely seen, in three treatments, they were all completely gone... Now they come once every 3 months to keep them at bay.. Brian is a very thorough and personable technician... We couldn't be happier with the service.

This company scams its customers into a one year contract without even telling you. When I first paid for service I was told by the office and the technician that there was no contract. Boy was I wrong. We only needed 3-4 months of service so once our issue was resolved we canceled. The office staff did not mention anything regarding a contract when I canceled. When I was signing up for services, I specifically asked if this was a 'time' contract. I was told "no, you can cancel at any time". That was a complete lie. I tried to cancel services, due to the fact that I am moving, but was told that I had seven months left on my contract. I still have to pay for seven months, even though I was specifically told that I could cancel at any time with no fees. I read one other review that had this same problem. This seems to be a practice of the company ... lie to the customer at signing. Update: Per their instructions, I sent an email to cancel my services (back in October 2018). In March and April I called to ensure that the services were cancelled (the last payment was supposed to come out in May 2019). They said I was 'good to go'. Here it is, June, and they pulled out a payment. I called and they said they would get back with me tomorrow. This is absolutely the most horrible company I have ever done business with. If this is not taken care of tomorrow, I will go through my bank to get the funds back, and if necessary go through the court system. Do NOT sign a contract with them!!!

So where to start. As homeowners one of the big requirements is to get pest control. After pricing around we decided on mountaineer pest control and I can say with no uncertainty that that was the worst decision we've ever made. So when the home inspector came we told them upfront we wanted to pay in full for the ENTIRE YEAR. We were told they could do that and they debited my card 700 dollars. They installed a moisture barrier under our house ( a 3 hour job that took 8 hours) and sprayed for bugs and set termite traps. 3 months later they showed back up sprayed for bugs and left. They were here all of 10 minutes. We get a 75 dollar bill in the mail 3 days later. When we called asking why we were billed they said it was services rendered. After a back and forth with a rather Curt woman on the phone we sucked it up and just decided after the year we would no longer require their services. Fast forward to April this year, and we get a renewal fee letter for 250 dollars. When we explained to them we didn't want to renew, they stated that if we don't renew that's fine. So we told them we wouldn't renew and thought that was the end to it. But it wasn't, we got multiple more renewal bills to the point where it was 2 letters a week at one point. So we called again and they said we had to send an email stating we would not be renewing our contract. So I sent the email to the person I was told to send it to and we then got a 75 dollar bill for failure to pay on our last treatment (after MULTIPLE EMAILS) so we tried calling again and we were told since we cancelled (we didn't, that's called assuming) our account early that we had to pay for the last treatment (which we never even received). Finally after multiple emails and calls my wife paid the 75 dollar bill over the phone. We have bank records that state AS SUCH. Today we received in the mail from Augusta collections agency that we owed mountaineer pest control 75 dollars and they had sent us to collections. So riddle me this Batman, how is it that we've paid all of our bills on time and we get put into collections? Salty because we didn't give you a credit card number you can bill whenever you want? I will be up at the main offices in North Augusta on Wednesday with bells on and I will be RECORDING everything that happens because apparently your employees can't be bothered to do their jobs. I can't wait to hear what my lawyer says about all this. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY if you value your credit score. And one last thing...... When your company came to get their termite traps, they sent us in the mail a letter stating as such, but that we also had termites in one of their traps. So let me get this straight, in the entire year we had services rendered by you we never once had termites but all the sudden when we don't want to do business with you we have termites? So you either lied about us having termites or you did nothing about it for an entire year. If I could rate this company lower than a 1 star I would. Well what do you know, the 75 dollars you sent me to collections over, WE PAID IT, ON TIME, AND HAD PROOF. I would be lying if I didn't want to rub your nose in it more but I just find it hilarious that all it took was the collections agent 15 minutes to realize that YOUR COMPANY was the ones who had made a mistake. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They are incompetent! They keep charging me despite repeated attempts to cancel! Disputing charges with bank! Was a customer with them for 5 years, they don’t care about loyalty, or anything other than $$$!!! Not only did they not cancel the service when I asked them to (the girl I originally spoke to apparently didn’t give me the correct info on how to change my services- not even really cancel), but they still kept sending the pest control guy, and not only did they keep sending him, but sent him every 2 months instead of every 3! I called (again) last Friday, spoke to someone who told me another woman would have to get back to me, no one called back. I called today, only to find out that they sent someone to my house to do another service in the meantime!! I have a screenshot of the phone calls to them last Friday, but the owner still refuses to cancel the charge. I even told them I was willing to pay for the other times they went (after asking them not to), but he still refused. Now I am disputing all charges, and have canceled all my services. I chose this service because of their affordability for a bed bug issue. The technicians were great, they came out and sprayed and the issue has been dealt with, which is the only reason this company receives more than one star. However, a missed payment led me to understand this company's less than desirable office and management. The card I used for payments did not go through because my bank account prevented an automated payment for security reasons. Under threat of closing my account and discontinuing services (they sprayed monthly as a follow up), I opted to drive to their actual office to make a direct payment. The arrangement I made with the Kelly, the office manager, was that by making up my missed payment, the account would remain open and services would continue. I drove over 50 miles to their office in North Augusta to make the payment. After a month, I realized that their technicians had not come out to spray as usual. I called their office, and was informed that my account was in fact, closed, according to one operator. Confused by this information, I asked to speak with the office manager, Kelly to resolve this issue. I was instead directed to her voicemail, and I left a message. Kelly does not reply to voicemails. After several attempts to get ahold of the office manager, I finally did and was told to hold for just a moment, to which I was redirected again to her voicemail. This appears to be their method of operation. I made numerous calls to their office, asking the operators to please tell me why my account was closed despite the agreement Kelly and I had made. Nobody could tell me anything. In fact, when I asked them to tell me the status of my account, they told me they could not do that, despite having done so before. On the rare occasions that I would be in contact with Kelly, she would redirect me to her voicemail time and time again, or tell me I would need to speak with the director and would send me to his voicemail. This company does not resolve customer issues, and uses voicemail as a means to dismiss customers without addressing them. Do not do business with this company if you feel you will need to deal with their office at any point.

I called and ask how much a treatment would be and they told me $99. I ask them to come out. Service man showed up an hour late, so I signed my name and left. I came to find out that I had signed for over $800 of treatments. I called and asked to cancel because I didn't know that. They refused and said I would be required to pay the whole $800. Not only that but a couple months when I wasn't able to open the house at the time they called, they STILL CHARGED me even though they didn't treat the house. They didn't try to reschedule. They simply charged my credit card and moved on. I went to the office in person and they were the most rude customer service people I have ever encountered. PLEASE USE ANYONE ELSE! I wish I would have.

I had Mountanier come out in late July. At the time there were flying bugs outside and they were fighting their way in. I had a great technician he was very friendly. After the initial treatment , I went away because I had become ill. When I came back it seemed like the bugs got worse. I called about a week ago and the young lady that I spoke with was rude while conversing and getting smart. I told her I had not raised my voice and that her tone wasn't called for. She told me I couldn't get out of my contract that I would have to pay it anyway. Than she mentioned a letter that I was supposed to have received to relay any comments about the service. Well after not being here for about 2 months , I never got a letter. In the meantime the person that was staying here used combat gel which he said seemed to work in Mid -August. I am scheduled for another treatment in a couple of days and I really do not want this service anymore. But if they are going to make me pay for the contract than they may as well give me my moneys worth. I am a very disappointed customer and I would not recommend their services unless they have money to burn.

My initial service with Mountaineer went fine.The next time I was due to be serviced I had to cancel. I was in and out of the hospital during that time so I did reschedule a couple of times because of this. That's on me. I would have paid the 65.00 for that month. What I don't get is why because I was not able to be serviced that month, Mountaineer canceled my service and contract and turned it over to a collection agency. They did not give me any chance to tell them I had every intention of having them service me monthly. I missed them one month which I would have paid for but instead they turn me over to collections and they inform me that I have to pay for a year of service and Mountaineer has to do nothing for the money I have to pay them. I don't understand how you (Mountaineer) can do people this way. You will get your money and I will get absolutely nothing. I can't help my health issues for that time but you can help how you treat people.I didn't cancel your services. You canceled on me without any communication. As a matter of fact, I did get two things from you. A 700.00 dollar bill for NOTHING and a lesson about how you conduct yourself. Enjoy the free money you will get and thank you for nothing!!! This is the first time I have ever written a negative review but anyone who reads this please know these other reviews from people saying Mountaineer did them wrong, BELIEVE THEM!!! I promise you they took me to the cleaners.

This company was hired to provide quarterly inspections for termites. In the past year, they came out to install the inspection stations (visit 1), they came out for A Quarterly inspection (visit 2), sent an annual bill. I sent a cancellation letter due to the fact of only having one quarterly inspection in an entire year. They sent another bill when I didn’t pay the first invoice. I called and advised my next call would be to the Better Business Bureau. They came out and picked up their inspection stations. (Visit 3) You want to give away money? Hire this company.

I have to hand it to Mountaineer, they will go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction! I had an issue over the weekend and was unable to contact them until first thing this morning. I spoke with a lady and explained what was going on and she reassured me that they would help me resolve the issue. Without hesitation she asked me if someone would be available today for the technician to come to my home and evaluate everything. Well to make a long story short two technicians came out this afternoon and listen to my concerns and had me walk with them to give me the opportunity to ask any questions I had. Had a technician come spray my entire house mainly for a flea problem. And no improvement with the problem. After 4 days called back and was told I had to wait a week to a week and a half for anyone to come back to give it time to work. My contract don't state that. It says if I have a problem they would be back. He only sprayed 2 rooms per the service order when I have 7 rooms in this house. You can't walk or sit down without fleas jumping on you and these jacklegs don't want to come back. Never will I recommend this company to anyone and good luck getting any more of my money when you've already breached your contract!

I would call “Brandi” in the office and she’d either tell me “sorry I’ll call the technician and see what happened” or “I don’t have you written down for an appointment today.” I got so fed up, I begged for a confirmation email or text to ensure I would have proof of my next appointment... they refused and get this, didn’t show up again!

It looks like everyone has the same issue that I have, DONT SIGN UP or call this company ever!! Let me start by saying I went with them because their prices were a little better then most. Was told that I would NOT be in a contract by office staff, anyway first time they came out I did sign a paper thinking it might just be giving them permission to spray and etc.. Oh no you signed into a one year contract which is $49.00 a month no matter what! Exactly $49.00 if you miss them, if your die, if they come on the wrong day, if there was a rapture, the screw you over. $49.00 NO MATTER WHAT!! They tell you after a few visits they will switch you to a 3 month plan which is $79.00 for every three months. Still nothing about a contract! But for example, let’s say you used them in January, if you missed February and March you are still going to get charged! So anyway after a couple months of using them and got rid of all bugs we didnt need them as much so we tried to get it changed to the three month plan but they would either come out on wrong days when you’re not there, when they cancel and reschedule, they dont. I wait all day for them and no show and when you call the office they are sweet as they can be but no help at all or the person that you need help from is never there no matter how many times you call! You have to always work around their schedule every time. Never the customers. So like I said we used them about 4-5 times since January 2018 paid every time they came out. The last time we had them was a little after summer (September) which by then we should have been switched to the three month plan, which we weren’t, so remember $49.00 a month no matter what! So in December I get a bill in the mail from a collection agency for $343.00 instead of mountaineer calling me or notifying me about me owing them anything, (remember I have no idea that I’m still in a contract) so I call mountaineer and finally talk to a woman Chris which was very helpful at first and she was going to talk to whoever is in charge and see if they can help me, but of course never got a call back I call multiple times she’s never there, Sick, vacation, just always something. All I wanted was just a little help even if they would of just lowered my bill I wouldn’t be so upset with this company. But since they sent it to the collection you’re pretty screwed. This company screws you over and they stated that they sent me a letter telling me about the amount owed, Which we never got, I just paid the collection (which I shouldn’t have in all honesty) because I got tired of calling this company for answers, and I really didn’t want it to hit my credit. We also recommended someone else and have also told her to beware of what they have done to us. I will not ever recommend this company so beware! Unless you like to be screwed then by all means let this company screw you!!!

Stay away from this company if you plan to sell your house. I have made multiple attempts to cancel their service without success. I explained I was going to sell my house. First I was told to have it in writing, which I did repeatedly. Still more bills, then I was told that the service was locked in for one year. Alright, please cancel contract for the following year! Now I am told contract automatically renewed regardless. I continue to receive charge for service not requested and may not even be provided. I was not there to verify that they came. I got only bills in the mail and no service report for the stated dates. Currently making more calls and sending more email. Will post more updates. More sites to post reviews? To be fair, the technician who came to do initial service did a good job

Where do I start with Mountaineer....well I had one of their guys come out to my house to help me with a mice problem me and my wife have been having. He told us we definitely had them and they were probably coming from the field we live nearby. So he gives us an estimate and I ask him if they can guarantee to get rid of the mice and he says yes we'll get them all. 135 dollars and 3 months later I've had 2 technicians come out and all they did was place glue traps. 50 cent glue traps is all they did. For 135 dollars and a signed contract for a year. This is all they've done. Worst of all they have not caught one mouse...the man guaranteed to get rid of them all, and they havent caught one. I've caught 3 myself with some clamp traps. So we call to get out of this contract since they obviously were not keeping up with their side of the contract, but you know what they tell us? Mice fall under like secondary pests and they cant guarantee to get rid of them. Then why did your guy lie right to my face and promise yall could do it ? Now I'm stuck in a contract and your not even doing what you told me you were goining to do. Dont get me wrong the 2 technicians were super nice guys and the fault is not with them. It's the company. Stay away!!!
