I have not previously had problems with this company. However a month ago I set my appointment up for a 9-12 window. I didn't receive any confirmation or reminder email or text. So, at 11:35 I called the office to see if there had been a mixup. The person I spoke to confirmed that the time was right and he would be there by 12. At 12:45 I called again and just got their answering service (they must have been at lunch). The person arrived at 1. He told me that his schedule said 1-3. I'm sure that wasn't the case as the office had confirmed with me that morning. Whatever went wrong, I feel that someone should have taken accountability and apologized. I should have received a phone call if he was running late. I blocked off my morning and then had to change my afternoon plans as well.

Jerry was very patient with my endless questions and answered them all very promptly. He was great to work with! He worked out a fair appraisal of the cost to do the structural repairs on our home, something I had been procrastinating for quite awhile due to my fear of the cost. One company told me $3200 minimum (maybe "price gouging") but Modern did a great job for $750. He mentioned the vapor barrier needed replacing, which I already knew. He offered a price $500 less than the HVAC company that installed the last one using the same supplies so I am awaiting an appointment. I have set up an ant spraying appointment and will use them next time I have structural repairs. The team leader, Tommy, even painted the new wood and panel, something I had offered to do to save money. The construction team was very professional and knowledgeable about their duties with the end product being very well done. Good people, fair pricing, good work! Would recommend to any friend or neighbor.

First of all I would like to say that Modern Exterminating is incredible! Charlie Sims was my technician today and he was prompt, courteous, and reassuring. I’m terrified of bugs so much that now my two kids are afraid but he was so patient with my questions. He even moved a dead cockroach out of my view when he was treating the house (that’s how scared I am of them). We talked throughout the visit and it was like having a friend over. He even gave me tips on where I could get kids clothing and toys at a really low price. He also pointed out a water leak and told me who I could contact about it. This one experience alone has made me a loyal customer. No matter where I move in Columbia I will stick with Modern Exterminating.

We’ve been using Modern Exterminating for over 3 years for insect control (spraying inside baseboards and outside perimeter). I tried doing this myself our first few months when we’d moved to South Carolina, but the home defense spray was ineffective. Modern’s spray is very effective. Their workers are always on time, and are polite and actually pleasant. The price for their seivices is very reasonable, and their office management (statements, bills, reminder calls for upcoming services) is timely and professional. All in all we rate this business 5 out of 5 stars. We highly recommend them.

Eddie was on time, polite, and friendly. He walked through my house with a flashlight checking the baseboards for signs of termites. It probably took him 5 minutes, maybe a little longer. I was disappointed that he wasn't there to check the outside as well. He told me the bait stations were checked and maintained by the termite guys. I originally had an extremely bad introduction with Modern Exterminating when trying to transfer the termite bond on a purchased property, but the owner Glenn Matthews III personally reached out to me to help. However, I felt like after transferring the bond to my name everything would have been fine but it has been four (04) weeks now and my floors are still messed up from the termites. I am the one who has to reach out for a follow up to see what is going on and each time I am told that they are backed up. In fact I don't even know the plan on what is going to happen to my floors as nobody will communicate with me since the bond is now in my name. Its like they wanted their money and then forgot about me.

2 issues: 1 day after our quarterly treatment there was a live cockroach in our master bed we found that evening. 3 days later we found another live cockroach in the master bathroom. We understand that bugs “scatter” after a treatment, but we still expect to see them dead, especially in a 20-year Old well sealed house as opposed to the 70 year old house we moved from that had more bugs (that we didn’t see alive after a spraying). 2nd issue is getting monthly bills in the mail for quarterly treatment, as opposed to a bill or an invoice after service has been complete satisfactorily. Maybe not a major issue but it’s as if they’re trying to sneak more money from us. Definitely going to switch companies if they done make this right somehow.

I recommend Modern Exterminating to anyone in Richland County area. I have never dealt with a more professional company or staff. I’m not sure exactly who was my main contact, I believe his name was Stephen but he answered all of my pest control questions. On second thought, I think he might be the regional manager. He came on short notice due to my hectic schedule, was able to make sure the billing date aligned best on the day for my budget, and answered all questions I had about the process. He started the process with a phone call once I inquired about the services they offered, scheduled a consultation, had a follow up, and has prevented all of my ant problems. This means so much as I am fatally allergic. To top it off, he followed up the next day with a phone call to make sure everything was going smoothly and brought my dog a milkbone on the second visit. I never write reviews about services but I am so pleased with the service as a first time home owner.
