I love animals and even have wonderful pet rats that are as much a part of the family as our Labrador. When I first saw evidence of mouse activity in my garage last winter I put out live traps and captured several relocating them to remote country locations. When my live traps stopped catching anything I thought the problem was managed and put it out of my mind. During the summer I began noticing mice out foraging in my garden in broad daylight. When I saw one disappear into my siding I knew I had a problem. Two neighbors recommended Brandon as he had managed their rodent problems. I had him and another top reviewed pest company come do an inspection. Brandon was extremely thorough and discovered mouse nests and activity in our crawl space and attic. He took pictures which really helped me come to terms with the problem. He even discovered one of the places where the mice had burrowed in under the house and the entry point in the garage which was not a place we had thought to address. He described a multi-step plan for a permanent fix that made a lot of sense and took time to talk through my concerns about using poison (what if a cat/dog/owl eats a dead mouse, safety for kids etc). The other inspection consisted of a very nice man who looked around for a couple minutes and gave a generic plan for bait traps and $200 for sealing all crawlspace vents. He didn't go in the crawlspace, and thanks to Brandon's photos, I knew that the vents were not their entry point so sealing them alone would be pointless. He also didn't consider the attic or garage entry. The monthly service was "cheaper" but I went with this company because I feel more confident that this is a long term solution. I am about 3-months in now and haven't seen a single mouse after about the second week. Here's my bottom line and the reason I am leaving such a long review. I have come to terms with the fact that basically every expert agrees you will eventually resort to using poison if you have a large enough rodent problem. If you don't address the issue when you first notice it the population will explode. I didn't want to harm the mice but when I realized they were living in my house I had to protect our food supply, our kids, our pets etc. My delay has led to the deaths of many, possibly hundreds more animals. I am glad they are no longer contaminating my house but I feel terribly guilty about killing them and wish I would have called Brandon a year earlier when he was first recommended to me. Don't make my mistake, if you see mice or rats around or in your house call Get Smart Rat Solutions right now!

Remove Raccoons from Roof - Then Keep them From Returning & Using as Latrine Raccoons had nested in between our subroofs and had left urine and feces all over the roof. Get Smart closed off all potential entryways for raccoons to nest on roof. Raccoons gone! They then sanitized the entire roof. Important with a 2-yo and 4-yo at home. Great job! Roughly 1.5 years later, our roof became a "latrine" for local raccoons. Not living there, just visiting at night and littering the roof with feces and urine. It was a mess. Get Smart used a series of humane tactics to keep raccoons from coming onto our roof at all. They monitored and viewed as activity decreased to 0. They then sanitized the roof to remove all raccoon feces and urine. No raccoons harmed in either process. Brandon (owner) and Get Smart stopped by frequently to monitor, and we also are extremely happy with their services for rodent, opossum and ant control. Brandon is an animal and insect behavioralist and expert, predicts and counters their next moves, and is incredibly smart, effective and humane in all practices. I'd highly recommend them for all pest control needs. Our trust is such that we now have them on a seasonal retainer to monitor and help make our home more comfortable, as we continue to reside on land native to insects and wild animals! Cannot recommend this business highly enough!

I am a salon owner in Portland Oregon The commercial space that I am leasing has an ongoing rat/mice problem. I relocated my business one year and 6 months ago & the issue has been ongoing. After seeing a mother and baby raccoon wandering our property several nights in a row, I was horrified to find them living in our crawl space. Despite an already full schedule the day I called “Get Smart,” Brandon worked me in at the end of his day to start the process of evicting our unwelcome visitors. He and his son first installed cameras to monitor activity. Two days later, the team created a hostile environment to ensure the raccoon family would leave our property. One week later, Robbi (technician) installed triple screens over all our vents so they can’t return. I personally interacted with Amber (scheduler), Robbi (Tech), Brandon (owner) and Brandon’s son. In which I am super disappointed of hiring them ... it was a Friday and my house begin with this horrible smell I contacted the killers and had some one sent to my home that same day to do their job, to try and find a dead rat under my house insulation! Well the guy said he did not find nothing at all I asked him to have some one call me because I needed help because I knew the weekend was coming and they were not going to make an effort to come help me! Asher came out to estimate and inspect the smelly crawlspace. He showed us many photos showing how bad the problem was, and skillfully explained the company philosophy of rat control, directly tied into the science of rat behavior. These people are very educated on crawlspace science as well as rodent issues and how to properly deal with them. Unfortunately, it's impossible to recover from rats in one day. It takes at least a month of baiting and training the rats to effectively repel/remove/kill them all. After a month, the team came back and removed all 6 moisture barriers, insulation, ducts and scads of dead rats. They thoroughly cleaned the crawlspace, replaced the moisture barrier, reinstalled the sump pump (the rats had chewed the wires) and installed clean new insulated ducts. We previously had estimates from several crawlspace companies (Crawlpro and John's Waterproofing) that were wanting to clean up the crawlspace and replace it without dealing with the rat problem. John's Waterproofing wanted to encapsulate the entire crawlspace to the tune of $16K, with no plan for the rats, even though there were tunnels along the sewer line bringing a steady stream of the nasty rodents. GetSmart will guarantee no more rat intrusions for as long as you own the house (with regular inspections) They charged $600 to eradicate the rats, and $9000 to rebuild the crawlspace.

This past Saturday a live rat was seen inside my home and ended up in my sons bedroom. We rent our home and so immediately contacted our property management. After contacting our property management multiple times, county vector, animal control, neighborhood mediation,police non-emergency line and multiple exterminators. As soon as I told Brandon the situation he spent the next hour talking to me on the phone about how to the situation and made me feel so much better about closing my eyes that night. He taught me so much in a short amount of time about the nature of this rodent.The next day Brandon and his son saved the day! They came they saw and they conquered ; the live rat was gone and a thorough examination of my property was done in the dark. So I could understand what I was dealing with. Incredible work ethic. Not only do they know the complete process, nature and facts of the animal they are able to teach them as well. I have learned so much from Brandon; he also took time away from his family in an emergency situation this weekend for mine, which says a lot about what kind of guy he is. He took my concerns seriously and validated my worry. You actually pay for what you get with them! If you want the job done right, thoroughly and completely- This guy is an expert and the father-son relationship I witnessed speaks to what kind of care Brandon puts into the things he is passionate about. Asher was awesome and such a hard worker!
