We have been more-than-satisfied customers of Barrier Pest Control for about 8 years, and today's visit by Salvador was another positive experience. We had luckily never had an ant problem until last week, so we contacted Barrier, and Salvador was immediately assigned to help us. He sprayed for ants and explained the 2 ways the treatments worked. We will watch the situation and call them if there is a recurrence of activity. Salvador was professional and courteous. Barrier has never let us down. Thanks!

We've had a good experience with Barrier for over a year. We have really onlyodealt with Brett, and he's been fantastic. He makes sure to do what we ask, but he also suggests ways to help prevent further issues. They will come on your quarterly, or even monthly. We called for an additional visit due to a wasp nest in the eves that we couldn't get to, and someone came the day after we called.

Not only that, but when ever ant season comes around, its about to again, they have no problem with coming out and treating my house again, as part of their annual service! Sean has been my favorite tech again and again and I always request him. He is very thorough and always makes sure to ask me if I'm having any pest problems. I have tried other services and they just don't compare, thank you Barrier, for being there for all my pest control needs!

I rate this company not even 1 star. They dilute the product by the end of the month to be able stretch it out longer and it doesn't work. The people that come out throw your property around and leave it. The staff within the company are rude and interrupt you where you can not finish a sentence. I told them never to come back but I'm still forced to pay a $187.00 fee to cancel they services. When they say you are getting the first time spray for Free, it is not Free, it cost me $70.00. The company is a fraud and take advantage of people by going door to door and being pushy. I'm turning them into Angie's List and the Attorney General.

Their service is not the issue for me. The billing practice is. I have two accounts with different account numbers. This is the 3rd billing cycle that I have had to call them because they post both checks issued by the bank into one account. Each account has it's own number which is shown on the face of the check in the top LEFT hand corner. The gal that I spoke to was more interested in starting an argument than solving the problem - and this is not the first time she has been rude. I will see what happens going forward, but if it looks like another argument about the same issue, I will cancel the service. Frankly, NO ONE talks to me in that manner.

Barrier started out great. I think there may have been some misrepresentation between their door to door salesperson and the reality of what they can do. Salesmen made it sound way more comprehensive and easy to utilize service. I cancelled my service because it wasn't a good fit anymore as we have a lot of edibles in our yard.

We got service pretty quickly the first time but had to have them back in a few days again due to more ants. And here we go again more ants. They have been primarily in the kitchen and even in our dishwasher three times giving me the total creeps. I am very disappointed by the customer service provided by Barrier Pest Control. I recently signed up as a new customer and my initial appointment was scheduled for 1 week out. My husband and I freed up our Saturday to accommodate this appointment but no one showed up! We waited and waited and still nothing. I finally phoned the office, which is closed so I had to leave a voicemail sharing my disappointment. The following Monday I received a call saying they weren’t able to bring up our account by my phone number, which bothered me because I spent a good 20 minutes on the phone setting up my account so why wasn’t my number working? They also said “They were nowhere in our area this weekend so they wouldn’t have scheduled this appointment.” The fact that they were unapologetic and took no ownership in this error showed me we were not a valued customer and that they did not need our business. Needless to say we will not be signing up for Barrier services.

I have been using Barrier for about 9 months or so. Extremely happy with both the product and the technicians that come out to the house. I used a different company before and was needing them constantly, which meant constant charges. Not with Barrier. I pay a fee every 90 days and they come out for a scheduled service. The best part is that when there are intermittent flare up's... bees, ants etc... they come free of charge and deal with it. As for the technicians, they have all been wonderful, nice guys will explain things to me, and will go the extra mile for the bee problem as I am allergic. Just a good group of people. I've had Brett to my house a few times and he's always up for chatting while he works and he is nice to the dog.. bonus points! The ladies (haven't talked to a gentleman) in the office are always super nice and do their best to get me service as soon as possible. Overall best pest control service that I have used so far. No rudeness, no robots on the other end of the phone.

Probably one of the worst experiences I have had with a company if a long time. The entire service is basically a scam. They lock you into a contract and the person that comes out does not fully explain everything. I have had them for over a year now and have had them come out several time to take care of spiders and we still have them EVERYWHERE. I understand that it does take some time and its not perfect but it has made no difference. I would not recommend then to anyone.

We had used Barrier for a couple of years at a previous address and now at our new residence. Having quarterly service is convenient for me since I don't have to keep track of when and what to spray, plus if a new pest problem arises, I just give them a call and they get someone to come out fairly quickly for no extra charge. We left the garage door open one night this winter and sure enough a little critter found warm lodging. Just noticed droppings this week and Barrier came out within a few days. Brett arrived today and did a thorough look in our garage, exterior foundation, crawl space and, proactively, beneath the kitchen sink. He found where they are most likely entering and gave me advice on how to fix that issue while he set traps and bait stations. They will come check them again in a week or sooner if needed. We have only had great results with Barrier.

Barrier has treated our commercial property for years. I happened to be there when Popeye, the technician, recently showed up for a regularly scheduled treatment for spiderwebs, general bugs and rats. I was very impressed with Popeye‘s attitude and the way he communicated. He initially told me that he was there to make sure I was taken care of as a customer and before he left he made sure to ask if there was anything else I could think of that we needed. During his visit he insisted that we go around together and check out each rat station (I told him we have several-some hidden in bushes and hard to find/reach places). He filled and changed old looking rat bait with fresh stuff. He also treated the foundation of all the buildings and a few indoor bathrooms. If all your technicians are not like Popeye, he should be training them! Although he works for Barrier, it was clear his true commitment was to being an extraordinary individual, doing thorough work and making sure we (the customer) were satisfied. What a great business model! He must be an exceptional employee-A very dedicated and caring individual. Very impressed with Barrier.

They have had numerous technicians service our home over the past couple years but Salvador has been a recent regular and he is always polite and thorough. He remembers what items / pest problems we had serviced previously and ask about it if still needs attention. Overall he is great. Specific to Barrier they are great to work with, they come out 4x a year, call ahead of time to let you know the day they will be out and are flexible if you need to be home to service inside. They also will come out for any re-service if pest come visit you between services.

Horrible company! Do not sign up for their yearly plan, as you will not get the service you need! This is the second time they've had to come back out after spraying for ants. Each time we've had to wait another week to get them back out here. They won't give a time when they will come, just a day, because they think none of us have jobs and can wait for them all day. Don't waste your time and money with this company if you have an actual pest issue. Originally contracted them to take care of a carpenter ant issue (exterior only) - 1 year and hundreds of dollars later, the problem is worse. Took matters into our own hands, did a bit of research, bought ~$80 worth of product online and applied to the problem area ourselves. Shocker - problem solved. If you are cool paying these clowns $100/quarter to spray sugar water on your foundation, feel free to piss away your money with this company.

I've used Barrier Pest Control for approximately 15 years (Today, Jaime was here). The staff are courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. The few times I've needed reservicing (4 or 5 times in 15 years), they've returned within 1 or 2 days. I've also never had a price increase and, according to Barrier Pest policy, I never will. Finally, my neighbor complains about field mice and spiders...better get Barrier!

Highly recommend them to service your pest control needs because they are very professional, the technician is usually personable, knowledgeable and friendly (we like Joshua a lot!) I like that we can request a technician of choice. Josh, is our favorite technician! He pays attention to details and is always doing a fantastic job while servicing our house. He also provides great feedback and suggestions on bug concerns/issues. He resolved our wasp issue by setting up a yellow jacket trap which none of the past technicians ever suggested to us. Then, we had called regarding cluster of eggs that were attached on our window screen. He got rid of the problem and also noted we had aphid issues around our rose bushes which he got that taken care of also. I just feel like whenever he is here to service or reservice; he is always going the above and beyond for us. It truly shows how much he cares while on the job. We really appreciate you, Josh! :) As for the company itself; the reservice is a huge advantage and a bonus for us because for #1: it is complementary and for #2: it lets you know that Barrier is ensuring that customers get their positive experience and is ensuring that we are satisfied by their reservicing to get the job done correctly. We've had barrier for years. We initially got them for ants. We haven't had an ant problem sine then. They come by a few times a year. They call beforehand to let us know they are coming. Most of the time we don't have them do the inside (no bugs, therefore no chemicals necessary). This last time they came, Salvador was doing the usual and found a wasp nest! He just took care of it!!!! Very happy (as usual).

The only reason I am not giving this company one star is because a few of their guys actually got the job done. I had a rodent problem. Knowing how fast rats can breed, I needed the problem taken care of as soon as possible. The frustrating thing about this company is that they don't assign dedicated agents to solve your problem, which means you are starting from scratch EVERY single time a new "technician" comes in. There is no way for one guy to know what the other one did, so he has to waste time looking for the old traps and baits, waste time having me explain the problem for the tenth time, and waste time figuring out a new strategy, because everyone approaches the problem differently. Add that up and it was a lot of wasted time. With a problem like rats, you can't just spray and forget it. You have to track, rebait, and be on top of it until they are gone. And from my experience they don't encourage dedicated agents until pressed. Fortunately they do have good guys that care about results. When I finally got assigned a dedicated agent, it frustratingly STILL took a couple times before they sent Salvador consistently. Thankfully Salvador is really great. He is thorough and really takes care of his customers. He made sure to tell me when to reschedule, looked into every nook and cranny of where the rats had gotten in, and did everything I needed to make sure the rats were completely gone. I also found Austin and Randall to have done a thorough job, but I unfortunately never saw them again after their initial visits. The lack of a dedicated agent can be extremely frustrating for someone who needs consistency and thoroughness to solve the problem. Bottom line, if you have a rodent problem, ask for Salvador or Austin only (there may be others, too, but I don't have a lot of experience with them). These two guys are very popular because they are effective, so you may get pushback, and Barrier's route scheduling provides limited flexibility. It just isn't an effective system for a problem like rodents.

Signed a contract with Barrier for a year. The first couple of visits went without a hitch. My third visit didn't seem to take too well, saw an increase in ant activity just after a month of prior service. Their service is "guaranteed" according to their service agreement, meaning they'll come out and and retreat at no extra charge. Six weeks before my next scheduled visit I made many phone calls and left messages in which they never reciprocated. They finally called me two days before before my scheduled visit, I explained what happened and they refused to believe me that I had left messages and still had the audacity to charge me for the service after they breached their own service contract. I called to have that bill waived or to nullify my contract due to their violation. Again, refusing to believe that I made those calls, they demanded my phone records insinuating that I was lying the entire time(in which I promptly obtained as proof and mailed). They finally agreed to lift the fee, but there was a catch, they extended my contract an extra 3 months, meaning they get their money either way. This is a very backwards approach to customer service, did they really think I was going to renew with them after what they just pulled? Awful response to what should have been an easy fix.

I've had Barrier for over a year. The service started due to a major ant problem. They had taken over a giant fir tree and the backyard. After the very first apointment almost all of the ants were gone. Since then they have came once every few months all of the technicians have been great. Salvador came today and he was wonderful. All of their technicians have always been very knowledgeable and have done a thorough job but we must say Salvador has by far been the best one yet! We can tell he really loves his job and takes great pride in his work. He has great customer service, is enthusiastic, is very knowledgeable, and is not afraid to tackle the most difficult problems (mice infestations and yellow jacket nests). Salvador is a great representative of Barrier Pest Control and we highly recommend this company!

First and foremost, we went with another company due to the fact the other company actually sold us on their services. I have nothing to review as far as services go with this company. However...... Route manager Jeremiah Wilson with barrier pest control stopped by and talked to my wife while I was at work. He talked to her for about 15 minutes, dropped a card off, and that was it. Another company's route salesman came by, walked my wife around our house and yard, pointed out a basketball sized wasp nest and several smaller ones, as well as detailed how and why they would treat other areas in our home and outside (my daughters wooden play structure) for spiders and wasps. Naturally, we went with the more expensive company that actually sold us on their services. I got a phone call from my wife today that Jeremiah stopped by today while I was not at home. My wife had told him we had gone with another company. Instead of being civil and accepting a lost sale, he became verbally aggressive and combative towards my wife. He immediately started badmouthing the other company and telling her she would regret it and it was a stupid decision. He became agitated enough to intimidate my wife. Bottom line, there is absolutely no reason for a salesperson to act unprofessional at all, much less to the point of intimidating a woman at home alone so much that she calls her husband and locks the doors. If I could rate a ZERO, I would.

We've been using Barrier Pest Control for about 4 years now and I think they do a great job hence the reason why we still use them. We've had other companies knock on our door and try to bad mouth them but we know the real story. Anytime I have to call the receptionist she is very nice on the phone and if she's busy on the other line and I leave a message they always call me back. Last year we moved to another home with an outdoor/indoor fire place and discovered it wasn't working due to spiders and Barrier came right out to spray since then we haven't had a problem. I called recently and Salvador came out to our home. We liked him right away for his honesty and friendliness. Other people might know him by "Popeye". He sprayed for spiders and slugs to help us with our garden, which was much appreciated. I have two dogs and he was professional even when my bulldog started to bark at him... sorry Popeye! I have to say I will still use them since they are the best! We also received $50 for referring a friend.

We’ve been a customer of barrier for about 3 years now so i think i can give a decent review. After the second treatment we noticed a significant reduction of all the common insects, spiders, ants etc. overall great effective service worth the quarterly charge. After 3 years we now know what separates a good pest control company and that is the free return service for an invasion of an unusual bug or bugs. When requested Barrier gets to you within a day or two with no questions asked for a free re-treatment. Invasions of an occasional weird bug do appear, maybe 3 times for us. They do a very thorough retreat of the problem and even more. However lets be real, its a pest control company and turnover is a problem with any of these companies I’m sure. Even with the turnover the office staff you talk to about scheduling your first appointment or a retreat are very pleasant and make sure they get all your needs covered so when an employee not familiar with your property knows what regular treatment or retreat you require when they arrive. We won’t be changing to any other door knocking bug company anytime soon for sure.

Barrier has been great so far. The ants were out of control in our new condo, both inside and outside. We tried DIY for a month with no impact. The initial technician, Andrew T, was very helpful, thorough and informative. Was sure to point out that with the number of ants we had it would likely need another service soon so to call back after a few days if it wasn’t improving. The customer service rep we called for the additional service scheduled us right away and even recommended we schedule another a week later just to be sure to get rid of them completely. Landon was our technician for the following service and was very thorough! A week later when he came back the ants were completely gone from all areas inside and out. Don’t let Barrier on your property. I was seeing box elders outside and some ants on my patio. I signed a contract with them (BIG mistake - DO NOT do it!) to treat my house for box elders and ants. The technician sprayed inside and left a drippy residue on my wall. The service manager came out (Travis) and he apologized, cleaned my wall and said if this happened regularly they would be out of business. However, when I asked for my money back he said they would charge me $100 to cancel my service. Now I have ants inside. This is not a good company. There are better pest control companies out there. Don’t ever hire Barrier!!! Buyer Beware!

I have never been so disappointed with any service in my life. I have an account with barrier, my parents have an account, and my sister has an account. We have all had the same experience with them coming out over and over and over without any results on bugs. They have been to my house six times for ants and spiders and I still have both all over my property. The only good results we have had from them is with getting rid of mice in our barn. I just had them out for bugs in my lawn and flower beds. The gentleman was not even on my property for five minutes before he was back in his truck and leaving. He quite literally walked around my house in less than two minutes then said he was done. His hand held spreader can not even hold enough product in it to cover my lawn and planter beds with out needing to be filled back up. As soon as the hand held spreader he was using ran out he was done. It almost seems like the some there employees don’t care one bit about if the job is done correctly or not. If you have a spider problem there idea of spider control is walking around my eves with a brush and nocking down the webs. Within two days the spiders have made new webs in the exact same place. I cannot explain how poor of a job these people do. They want to get in and out as fast as they can. I assume that’s why my family and I never see any results from them. Me, my parents, and my sister will all be canceling our accounts with them.

Randall is truly one of a kind, not only in his amazing story, but in his service and smile. He was finishing up at my neighbors home when I asked him if he can remove in ground wasps nests. Not only did he say yes, but he offered to do it right then and there even though it was well after 5pm. He saved the day since my 4 kids had been cooped up inside on that summer day due to all the wasps swarming around our front yard. He dug up the whole nest, treated the area so they wouldn't return and even took time to show us the insides of the nest. Barrier locks you into a 1 year contract with a cancelation penalty. I was expecting them to effectively control our mild ant problem in a clean house and an easy perimeter. Each of the 4 visits in 6 weeks was ineffective. Although they warranty, when we called to arrange follow up visits, they were booked up to 2 weeks out, meaning we had ants for almost the entire duration of the contract before we left. The next part is what really made me mad. We asked to cancel, because they weren't controlling the ants and were not responding within their "promised" warranty window. They charged us $100 additional to cancel, and the customer service person basically said it was my fault that we still had ants, and that 4 visits in 6 weeks was not giving Barrier a proper chance. In my view, Barrier broke their contract by not making a dent in our ant problem and not being as responsive as their contract stated. It is baffling to me that we now owe them an additional $100 because we had to seek another pest control company.

We've been with Barrier for almost a year now. First time they ever came out they were great! We didn't see any ants for months. As the weather started to get cold then heat up once more we started seeing some activity. We had them come out 3-4 separate times and all they did was spray the borders of the rooms we saw the ants in. They got done as fast as they could and weren't too thorough. I had called them around two weeks prior and we were still seeing ants even after they had just come out. I felt like their quality of service was going downhill. The technician's they sent out were nice but also seemed to finish as quickly as they arrived. I was seriously contemplating dropping Barrier as our pest company... until we met Jorge. He took the time to speak with me about my concerns and the problem areas in the house. He was polite, cordial, and very respectful of our home. Not to mention THOROUGH! He sprayed out entire house with an all in one bug spray then went back to the problem areas and specifically sprayed on top of that for ants. He even hit the countertops and interior windows. Just went I thought he couldn't be more thorough he goes outside and sprays around our exterior windows to make sure our house is super protected. If it were not for him my review right now would be entirely different. Barrier, Jorge deserves your highest praise! I'm going to call and request that they only send him out from here on. He goes to numerous areas and if your thinking about starting with Barrier I suggest you request him. One Jorge makes up for 4 not so thorough non-Jorges!

I'd like to start by saying we have been using Barrier for a month and they have been like our fairy godfather. We got a knocker at the house, and originally turned them away but kept their card. At the time they knocked we had an ant problem, but i assumed we could remedy it ourselves.... well, that didn't work out... our ant problem escalated, we got tired of the spiders and discovered mice in our garage (i foolishly stored excess cat food right out in the open). So I called and they scheduled us asap (within a few days)! The tech who serviced our house initially was so polite and respectful, my kids were sleeping and he was very quiet while treating the property. I had been sweeping and cleaning up ants every day until they came, and we haven't seen an ant since! This is such a relief for a mother of 2 littles that are on the floor all the time. During our first treatment they set passive interventions for the mice and I continued to find fresh excrement with no mice caught... So we called back and an equally polite tech came to set new traps that caught mice over night. Then they came a 3rd time to reset the traps for us again, catching mice within 24 hours. I am impressed with this company and their employees. They have come to our aid 3 times in our first month of service AND we are getting results. I have peace of mind knowing they will back up their promises time and again! I feel confident continuing to use this business and am recommending them to our friends and family!

Joshua serviced my home recently and did a great job as usual. These guys have been servicing my property for the last 7 years and I am very satisfied. They have come in between quarterly visits to treats flare ups of ants, box elder beetles, spiders and rats. So glad a local company is one of the best! At one point I did compare rates with Orkin, Terminex, Aptive, Croach, Pointe, Pioneer, Axiom and the Killers. What I found is that Barrier has the bigger fleet to handle the entire Portland metro and they had the best prices for my building (Axiom was a close 2nd place). I also found that many of the "local" companies are not local at all!!! The industry has a bunch of BS extermination companies! If you are reading this, steer clear of Aptive, Croach and Pointe-a bunch of jokers-apparently these types of companies set up shop locally and sell all their accounts to Terminex after a few years. Terminex sends me mailers to protect my home against cockroaches-I don't think I've ever seen one in the NW-maybe for restaurants. What a bunch of clowns. Thanks Barrier you guys rock!
