Steve Martinko, as knowledgeable as he might seem, is a con artist. Seriously don’t waste your time and money like i did. Don’t get me wrong, he has good employees, but he is the scum of the earth. His wife who works there is just as bad. I’ve had more than a few unfortunate conversations with her on the phone. The way she handles herself is downright childish. They sell themselves as a local mom and pop style business, but trust me when i say they are all about production and creating billing dollars. Overpricing services for those they know can afford it, using fear based tactics to sell services with zero scientific proof of what they claim. I’ve had conversations with their current employees. Most of which are searching for better jobs elsewhere, where they are treated better, and given the tools they need to do their job. They want to do good work, but are forced to cut corners in order to hit their daily quotas of production and sales. Meanwhile Steve and Theresa live a lavish lifestyle while their employees suffer and their clients get ripped off. I’m not just a former client, but i also used to do business with them as well through my own company. Sad to see them turn out to be this way. And yes, i changed my name slightly to try and avoid their outlast.

We moved into our home a few years ago and the previous owner had let the entire lawn die. I spent the next 2 years spending more money and hours than I want to think about on store bought fertilizers, treatments, and spreaders. I still had a number of issues with deadspots and weeds and was completely fed up. I have never heard good things about the corporate places like TruGreen, so I called Contender's and Steve came over and right away knew all my problems at first glance. He was confident his company could get my lawn back on track and by the end of the first season, it was night and day! The price is beyond fair and every time I see his employees out there I thank god it's not me! My lawn is looking great and I look forward to having Contender's take care of my lawn this year.

Wonderful staff and very knowledgeable. Responded very fast to our issue. I had another cheaper service that killed two of my trees. I'm glad I switched. They brought back to life an Austrian pine that I thought was a impossible. You get what you pay for.

Second year servicing my mature pine trees that had very unnatural needle drop.I thought we are going to lose them but they are doing much better with a lot of new growth. The Farmington Masonic Hall has a 100 + year old Norwegian Pine Tree that was dieing from a fungus. Contender's specialists injected the Tree last fall and the Tree is improving with new growth this Spring. Thank you Contenders for saving a valuable landmark in the City of Farmington.

I called them in 2015 to look after my trees that have been showing signs of decay and the treatment worked and they are now healthy(they do not spray the trees but apply treatment directly to the roots) . I switched to Contender's for my Lawn service and the lawn looks great(they even blow away the drive way clean after they apply the fertilizer). I also signed up for the Mole and Bug Barrier program(first year so will update later with results).

I think the D+ rating with the Better Business Bureau speaks for itself. They spray on other people's property and are disrespectful. This company is not willing to have a decent conversation on the phone about their questionable procedures. I would like to respond to your reply. I did call your office and had a very disrespectful conversation with your manager. He hung up on me. I do not appreciate chemicals on my property, especially 2 times in one week. You can respond to my attorney. I have photos and video documentation.

Great, great, great job. I had several tall columnar oaks that were diseased and essentially on their way out a few years ago. Contender's Tree & Lawn has been treating the oaks with injections in both the spring and the fall. They are now essentially fully recovered and cured. Their staff is courteous, responsive and helpful. I cannot recommend them enough.

Contender's Tree & Lawn Specialists has been taking care of the trees and lawns at my home and business since 2010. Steve, Theresa, Jay, Sandy and the rest of the crew has always done a great job. The trees and grass have never looked better and healthier. One thing I really like is that they use lower nitrogen fertilizer that lake friendly. 2 years ago I had Contender's do mosquito control. It kept mosquito's away for 2 months at a time. Check out their other services. It's a great company with great service.

Just showed up and sprayed without our knowledge or consent this year and then sent bill. We did not plan to use them again as results were sketchy last year. Told us too bad, pay up or go to collections. Nasty. Wonder how many customers they do this to every spring?

highly suggest looking elsewhere. i canceled my services after we saw the tech lightly spray 1/2 of our white pines and leave a bill at the door stating that he had sprayed all the trees to the point of drip. very misleading and honestly it's riduculous to be charged for services not performed!
