We found their staff to be extremely knowledgeable, in fact it turned out this smaller company was a lot larger than we thought and they were able to help us with some commercial duct cleaning as well as some mold remediation in a mop closet. I was afraid I had baby cockroaches in my house so I called Senate Termite Control. They were out the next day, inspected the house and told me it was a dry food beetle. This beetle eats dry food stored in open cardboard box containers that do not seal. After looking around my pantry for 10 minutes we found a group of them in my Publix Brand Oyster crackers. Often these pests come in to our homes from the food system. He recommended that I purchase sealed plastic storage containers for any food like pasta and crackers that comes in boxes that do not seal. Removing the food supply eliminates the problem. No chemicals required! Senate now has my contract for ants, fertilization, and landscaping. Working with local professionals that take pride in their family businesses are so rare these days. I'm so glad I made the right phone call to Senate Termite Control.

He poked behind the shutters and did not see any live activity. Having a little one and a dog made me nervous for their safety. Take your money and sanity and go to a reputable professional business. This is not it! You would have better service spraying your home yourself. The most negative experience I have ever had with a company. Nick's response about trying to insinuate my home is not clean, which it is, to deflect from their poor service shows exactly what kind of customer service they have, and this came from a manager. My home was not serviced 9 times, perhaps he was counting the multiple cancelled appointments, appointments rescheduled and no shows, and appointments that were scheduled, then "disappeared" and no record of it being scheduled all due to disorganization and poor management. I have had nothing but horrible experiences and the managers just make excuses for their downfalls, nothing gets better, then are offended when you call in irate because nothing is done right there. Nick is extremely volatile and unprofessional and his responses are inaccurate and false.

Concerned that I might have a termite problem around my home, I had Senate Termite & Pest Control come out to inspect the problem and recommend a solution. The technician arrived right on schedule, which I know can be difficult in the service industry, but more importantly, he was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to clearly explain the problem and the different solution options. As it turned out, the problem was a carpenter ant problem (which the technician took care of), and not a termite problem, but because I had previously failed to take any steps to prevent termites in my home, the technician laid out the recommended steps to protect my home from a future infestation and he immediately began the prescribed treatment. It was impressive that most of the recommendations were at no cost, just good knowledgeable advice ...things like explaining the proper use of mulch around the house and the importance of removing rotting fence post wood and other debris from around the home. In conclusion, the service was excellent and I would recommend Senate Termite & Pest Control to anyone who thinks they already have a pest problem or wants to take proactive action to prevent a pest problem from developing.

After 20+ years of service our family will be leaving Senate for another company. They don’t respect long term customers and are constantly trying to get you to buy new products and services vs doing their job that you pay them for. Demanding termite insurance for $3500 and then when you tell them no and you will drop them they immediately lower it to $1500. Very shady. They aren’t into building lifelong relationships anymore and it’s a shame!

We have never had a pest control company come to the house before, but after seeing an online deal for Senate last year we bought the coupon. After making the appointment, Jeremy came to the house in a subtle company truck. I was relieved to see no giant rat on the top of the vehicle or advertising wrapping with bugs all over it. It seems like a little thing, but it meant a lot to me. I don't want to proclaim to the neighbors that the bug man is over. Jeremy was very thorough even getting under the range and in between the dishwasher, places I wouldn't think to spray (that's why he's the pro). The treatment took care of the inside and the outside of the house. It was about a year before I noticed the intruders (bugs) return. We called Jeremy and had an appointment scheduled for that same week. So impressed with his work we signed a year contract for the quarterly service. The prices are reasonable, and for us worth every penny. In addition, if there are bug or critter problems between treatments he will come back and treat again. Senate is a local business and a two man band; no Joe Blow is coming to your house collecting a paycheck and going through the motions. They are really nice guys and total professionals. I find myself with high standards when it comes to customer service, and they not only met my expectations but surpassed them.

Had a technician (Eric) come out that very week in July (for pest control to come out same week in July is unheard of) he showed me exactly what the process would include. The process was safe and very neat. Drilled holes in the garage and explained to me why. The patching of the holes was very smooth and neat. He took his time. Also just had the attic done by the company and it was also amazing. Couldn’t recommend this company enough.

I contracted with Senate many years ago for termite monitoring. They have been reliable and always let me know when they are coming to inspect. My only negative comment would be the expense of rebating every couple of years. Its over $2K. It certainly seems like a lot.

TOTAL SCAM. I paid 1600 dollars for what was essentially a 250 dollar bait system, and an hour's worth of labor. I signed a contract that clearly stated terms and conditions for inspection (ANNUAL Inspection at $0 cost), and within a couple months, the company called trying to change the terms of the contract, stating that it would void the warranty if I didn't increase the number of times they would inspect to quarterly, at a substantial cost. I stated that I don't need to pay someone to open up the traps and look for activity. If I see anything, I know how to pick up a phone and let them know that there's an issue. They came quarterly anyhow and sent me bills that I refused to pay, considering it was not part of my contract. After the first year, however, I would call to schedule the annual inspections, only to get run-around, and no shows. This went on for about 3 years, before they finally terminated my contract without notice. The next time I called to schedule, I was informed that they cancelled my contract and would not do business with me in the future. I was tempted to get a lawyer as they never upheld their terms of the contract in the first place, but it's not worth my time or money. I do make sure to tell every one I know that is in need of termite services though. Stay away from these guys.

They did what I contracted with them to do -- treat the perimeter of my house to protect against termites. I have seen no sign of termites since the treatment nearly a year ago. I also contracted with them to trap racoons. Their first trap was not properly set so that the animal ate the bait and escaped from the trap. Since that mishap they correctly set the trap and caught one racoon. Waiting to see if more racoons are caught.

They overlooked scheduling the inspection & I had to initiate the contact to schedule the appointment before the season ended. Once that was accomplished, the inspecting technician that visited was professional, timely and appeared thorough in assessing the property. Don't support companies that telemarket and violate the Do Not Call Registry. We are on the do not call registry, and have been for more than 31 days. We have no business relationship with this company. They called us tonight, and when I asked how they got our number, they said "out of the phone book." However, our number is unlisted. I told the supervisor that this call was a violation of the do not call registry. He argued that it was not because they were not selling anything, but were offering an inspection. Since this is not a charity or political call, and I have no business relationship with them, I told the caller that this was a violation. I'm tired of companies trying to play games... legally they are supposed to check the registry before calling anyone, and they clear are not by their own admission. If you support this company, you're sanctioning illegal telemarketing behavior... don't do it. There are plenty of other companies around who play by the rules and won't bother you at dinner.

Senate Termite Control did a great job on our rental. We have been having insect issues with it for some time. I tried to do it myself and they just kept coming back. I think they were just eating the stuff I was using because they seemed to get bigger. I called Senate for out Gaithersburg rental and they did a great job. I noticed the difference immediately. On May 30, 2018, I had an initial inspection for rodent activity. I explained to the technician I was trying to sell the home. An of course during the inspection the technician determined I had termites on my fence and on some wood outback. He stated that he had to report it and it would be difficult to sell my home without termite treatment. He quoted a price of $1225 with a treatment saying this is the cheapest quote I would receive. I scheduled the treatment for June 5, 2018 because the technician stated he did not have the proper chemicals, time, or equipment to start the job. I called today to cancel the service because I found two companies will to do this service at a cheaper cost. I was told that the technician had already started treatment and they could only take off $200. I don't appreciate this companies dishonesty and the scare tactics they use to generate business. Do not start work without my consent I am appalled and will be writing the BBB. Update: I spoke with either the manager or owner, who was very willing to work with me to help resolve this issue for both parties involved. I am satisfied with the outcome. I know. A review for an exterminator hardly makes for a fun read over your morning coffee. But we need more of these kinds of reviews. Hey, I love reading a stellar review for a bar or restaurant as much as the next person, but that ain't gonna get my teeth fixed, my car running or the fleas outta my house. If not for Eric R's review of Senate, I I wouldn't have known where to start when looking to combat my ongoing flea problem (since fall, in fact). Plus, I can't really stand seeing even the occasional roach. I do realize these beasties are not an indicator of abject filth here the way they are in NY, but that doesn't make me feel any better. I made an appointment (the receptionist was kind enough to give me a lower rate, despite the size of my place. It's a large house!) They came. They laid the foundation for the insecticide. I was informed that if my flea problem hadn't gone away, they'd come back in two weeks free of charge. Nice, right? I also appreciated that included in the price is a thorough outdoors treatment. They sprayed doorways and windows, bushes etc. It's been about 2.5 weeks and I definitely see an improvement with the fleas. I think with regular treatment I may even be *flea free*!!

Unfortunately, that has been nothing but a big scam for me. We called them for rodent control after I discovered mouse activity in the basement. They reacted very quickly - I give them that. The person that came inspected everything more or less thoroughly, he was more interested to sell me a lot of other stuff I didn't call for and used very aggressive selling techniques. I asked him if I should close the opening I had around a valve from the garage to the basement. I night camera showed that's where they entered. He said no, I should leave it open, which makes me think he wasn't very interested in solving the problem and coming as often as possible. I eventually signed a "contract" for a bimonthly visit. They came twice, but oddly enough, the second time no rodent control was done but only ants and bug control, which I never asked for. Upon charging me $95 for a service I didn't request, I cancelled the service, which according to the sheet I signed I can do as soon as I want. After I did, they charged me another $200 cancellation fee which I am trying to request back now, however without no success. I'm at a point now where I'm willing to give money to a lawyer just to get my money back from them.
