Asolutely gorgeous beautiful lakes and forest still wild flowers in September
We camp here often. It's magical!
Very scenic trails at Happy Jack, beginner-friendly!
Great place to spend the day or your entire vacation.
Beautiful but the camping areas arent my favorite.
One of my favorite places in the world now!
Great place to hunt for Elk.
It's beautiful?
We only drove past the Vedauroo area Looks like a great place to go exploring
Great hiking trail. Dogs & I loved it. Clean, well maintained. Can't wait to go back.
Always a relaxing drive. We had a bear cross in front of us.
When I come home from Ohio this is my go-to for revitalization. Hundreds of different places to visit and get away.
Let's just say... Interesting. Mother nature send to be really playing jokes.
Awesomely amazing rock formations. Disberst camping unless in campground. Hiking, rock climbing and unfortunately 4 wheelers ☠. Nothing against some but sometimes extremely disrespectful, disruptive and loud. Mostly dangerous on vehicle roads. BE CAREFUL. But it is busy because it IS awesome! Worth a trip- you will always remember.
Fantastic area. Great hiking with spectacular views.
Diverse- cliffs, creeks, meadows (known as "parks") boulder areas and forest. Good camping places... 4 wheelers are HUGE draw back!! But few folks around, quiet. A couple older campgrounds but they are great locations. Main gravel roads are good car passable and wide but most open side roads are rough and tough. Sevral are 4-wheel drive. Yesterday nearly no snow drifts and dry.... Except humongous puddles. LOL. Again, main road is in very good shape.
Nice and quite. Lots cnn of wildflowers. Rustic campground bring water.
Amazing sights, gorgeous land. We actually came across this because we got lost lol. But sometimes getting lost brings you wonderful adventures.
Very scenic, very well kept and clean!
Had fun on the side by sides today.
Always great to get outdoors.
Loved it very clean and beautiful
I love coming up to Wyoming, this is a beautiful National Park to explore! There are so many trails you can ride on your dirt bike, ATV it ORV. All of the trails are marked so you know where you are and where you can go explore and not get in trouble for trespassing. You do need to buy your Wyoming ORV sticker/decal for your ORV. They cost $15 dollars and can be purchased online. Just Google Wyoming ORV sticker and it will pop up.
Unique landscape, user friendly trails. Be prepared the campground has no water or electricity however they are nice camp sites. 13 miles from town convenient location.
I drove through it in an 18-wheeler at 65 miles per hour, but I always enjoy the desolate beauty of the West, whether I'm on vacation or at work. The open space, the mountains, the wildlife, the flora. They all come together in a way you just can't experience anywhere else. You can look across a valley larger than my home county and realize that no more than a dozen people live between you and those mountains, not the million cramped souls I'm accustomed to. When you take it all in, the perspective just hits you, and you reach a higher level of appreciation for this world. You understand what God had in mind when he made it all. Your experience may vary, but I hope it doesn't.
Great place to get away from the crowd. Hardly anyone there on week days, even in summer
Awesome place to visit with the family.
High Altitude Warning - Physical exertion if you're not used to the lack of oxygen can tire you out very quickly. Fun sport rock climbing routes available. Watch your step when you get close to the cliff face.
Great quiet place. Look out for mountian bikers and 4 wheel off road things. At night if you dont like yourself it will remind you to be a better person.
Been camping and fishing for years here. Love it. Went kayaking for the first time.
Great roads and beautiful country. Well worth the drive.
Majestic beauty......wide open spaces.....wildlife galorw
They have some trees and moose and stuff, pretty neat.
Love driving through here.
It's beautiful!
Great place to come recreate!
Its a awesome place. Good camping, fishing and hunting. Great for families to hang together
ATVs, UTVs are ruining many areas of the forest. Can't even walk down the rail trail, supposedly closed to motorized vehicles, anymore for fear of getting run over by these motorized menaces who own these expensive incredible mud bogging, rock climbing machines that apparently require a nice smooth road to run on.
Beautiful scenery and plenty of trailheads and campgrounds. Great for a day trip or weekend camping.
Great area for hiking! Good views and amazing lakes!
A very good place to connect with nature. I wish they were more restrooms available. Great for camping and hiking.
We were at ski area and the accommodations and the folks working there were wonderful, can't wait to return.
I love this place. Awesome mountain biking and lots of wildlife!
Great viewing spot even in the winter but windy
Always a wonderful and beautiful experience here.
Nice bored. Pretty good roads. Some areas with heavy fire damage and downed trees. But all passable.
Such a beautiful place. Most definitely worth the trip.
Nice quiet camping place and fishing spots.
Very nice place to take a breather , run or hike a bit , fresh air , sigh seen if your traveling..
Amazing scenery unlike any other. Great camping areas all over.
Just got tent set up. It's raining but that good, should clean of the dust on my vehicle.
This is a great place to go four wheeling. The road is wide and the ride is smooth, so it's good for kids to ride on. Lots of beautiful views along the way. Don't forget the sunscreen and bug spray!
This area is so beautiful, I always enjoy the drive through the area.
Great place to camp and just get away!
Enjoyed the drive through, very pretty.
Awesome place to ride OHV with the family. Lots of trails. Good mix of technical and wide open.
Amazing place. Diffently going back
Good but take your mosquito repellant.
My sweet, amazing, incredible Wyoming born boyfriend took me to Medicine bow for my birthday last year, and it was such a beautiful experience that really opened my eyes to the natural beauty of Wyoming--seriously one of the mid west's best kept secrets. We hiked Medicine Bow peak, which was definitely not for the faint of heart, but also not the most difficult hike we've done. Totally worth a visit, itll change how you think about Wyoming forever.
Amazing! An awesome experience. I loved the beauty and history there. Can't wait to come back again. Great to just enjoy nature.
Beautiful area you going to see all the way to Kansas
Very beautiful and raw. We are very lucky to have such a place near Cheyenne to go and enjoy
A vastly beautiful landscape for DIY folks to enjoy. Don't expect much in the way of maintenance and amenities. Most if not all water sources are non-functional in the section east of Laramie, WY, that I frequent. The nearby Abraham Lincoln rest stop on I-80 has an outdoor water spigot.
Beautiful weekend at the end of September.
A great place to go 4-whln & see wildlife
Was a lot of fun and beautiful scenery. You won't be disappointed. Be sure to bring a camera
Elko is distal to most Nevada attractions, which seems to work
Wow, forests from the 1880's this is cool!
I love it up there, makes me miss home which is oregon.
Lots of trails, but you have to plan your hike. We did a couple hikes and there were limited signage along the trails...nevertheless the hikes were lovely...we saw a moose and lots of chipmunks and squirrels...enjoyed the wildflowers!
Because it is nice a quiet but now this review will ruin that. But lots of horse flies, deer flies, and mosquitoes that can infect you with malaria, dengue, West Nile virus, chikungunya, yellow fever, filariasis, tularemia, dirofilariasis, Japanese encephalitis, Saint Louis encephalitis, Western equine encephalitis, Eastern equine encephalitis, Venezuelan equine encephalitis, Ross River fever, Barmah Forest fever, and the list goes on. Otherwise its beautiful. I love Wyoming, my home.
Just the relaxation this Louisiana woman needed.
Beautiful scenery, great drive, awesome experience all around. Will have to revisit when I am back in the area, I'm from Michigan. This is well worth the drive out there. Family spent the entire day up there practically. Although, I will earn you need at least something more capable than a sedan. We had a Durango and Ram 1500, did not need 4x4, just clearance and able to maneuver around.
Medicine Bow - Routt national forest covers a lot of area. From the east, north and west of Laramie you have a diverse envirement that covers grass land to heavy forest. Go to the BLM to the Forest Service for maps to explore it all. Camping and fishing are great though some areas have day use or if you want to camp over night fees for that. Many hiking trails, some that take you to high mountain lakes. Watch for moose and the weather. Enjoy.
Very pretty and clean place
Close enough to civilization but far enough away to make you really feel alone. Great place for a day hike or for camping.
Beautiful colors this time of year.
Home sweet home. What a beautiful place to be.
Beautiful and not crowded!
WOW...GOD'S "picture post cards" for us to enjoy...and treasure always..
This place is amazing! Beautiful and serene. So peaceful and quiet, wildlife everywhere including moose!
We had a great time hiking and taking photos here.
Conveniently located just 3miles from I-80 East. It was windy and probably every day. You can tell all tree are leaned one way so park your rig accordingly. And I saw police car patrolling once that made me somehow safer and later another camper came parked to our left. I stayed one night.
It's a beautiful drive with many lakes and there's a lookout tower with majestic scenery! It's definitely prettier than the I-80 route!
Was a great place to stop Didnt know there was so much history involving it. Even has Yurts that are rentable .They need to be reserved in advance because it is a popular adventure.
I write this note from my camper in the heart of the park. I towed it here with a Jeep. It was a frustrating but rewarding experience. I stopped in many areas trying to find a place/road to enter. Nearly all the roads were closed to motor vehicles! This is disgrace to the citizens of this fine country. In particular to the elderly and disabled who want to get off the pavement in their 4 wheel drive vehicles to enjoy nature. For what ever reasons the park administration is limiting access. I am sure they have reasons. I am also sure most the good people of Wyoming and the USA find these reasons to be fear based and idiotic. The park is a great place to hike, walk your dog, ride a horse or bike but it is also a great place to get into nature via 4 wheel drive (especially for those in their golden years). I ask the park administration to please look at all groups who can benefit from the park and open it up. Stop treating us like children. We are responsible, respectfull tax paying citzens. The West still has some life left. Don't kill it prematurely by emulating East coast park systems. Fewer signs and closures equals more Freedom. Make Wyoming great/wild again!!
Great hunting if you put in the time.
A beautiful drive through the Medicine Bow National Forest. Nice, winding highway leading you to the stunning Medicine Bow Peak. Places to camp, hike, picnic, take photos, etc. You won't regret taking this drive!
Great place for camping and some trail running on the side by sides. Nothing technical but fun.
Very beautiful and worth the time!
Great fall day to hike happy jack
Great hiking trail, not so great mountain biking. Awesome climbing.
It was an amazing detour on the way to Yellowstone! I did lose my Note 9 over by that castle overlook if anyone happens to find it I'll give you the passcode
Beautiful big sky old west hiking. Just took a dirt road, pulled off and got lost. Great day outdoors. Soon to be my favorite place to go on days off.
Beautiful, wish we had been able to see some wildlife...
Great hiking trails up here!
Serene... Historic and just about the only green forest in Southern WY
Love this National Forest! Lots of things to do and see. We went to Rocky Mountain National Park just after visiting here and agreed that we enjoyed medicine bow more. We visited in early July and though the main road was open and clear, most of the side roads like Mirror Lake were still deep in snow. There are many places to park and hike though. Beautiful alpine lakes!
Adequate roads, good sights, not much infrastructure or facilities. Probably an acquired taste, but we love it.
National forest is always a peaceful place to go camping.
This was beautiful. I would make one short suggestion though. If you are from a climate that is rather predictable, then use caution driving through this area during the winter. Your altitude will change rapidly while driving and so will the weather. We watched sunny moderate temperatures turn into accumulating snow in a 15 minute period. And they WILL close the deal interstates through there. Alternative routes are almost non existent and so are hotels. The weather is dangerous if not respected. So you wisdom and enjoy the beautiful country.
Amazing spots for camping, horse-riding, 4-wheeling, biking, and picnicking!
Beautiful drive through forest. It is sad there are lots of dead pine trees.
This was a very interesting drive. If you like rock formations and/or low mountains. Beautiful scenery. I even saw several antelope herds!
Had a blast here.
Beautiful and lots of little fishing holes and wildlife
Great vistas, wildlife and recreation
Wide Open Country. Love It.
Climbing at vedavoo is amazing. Plenty of camping even in forth of July weekend if you keep looking.
Fun and easy trail, almost 3 miles. Not too much elevation change and lots of good views of turtle rock. There is also a little waterfall that is pretty neat.
This place has some delicious pizza and their customer service is incredible.
Really good place to camp but they blocked off the really good route's
I was there in off hours and service and food were very good.
Great hiking in the Snowies. Check with a ranger for conditions. Take the scenic drive and stops along the way. Less crowded than some other areas and just as beautiful.
It was amazing. Great HOV trails. Just an amazing and beautiful place to ride and camp.
How do you review an entire national forest?! The small portion of it fast of Laramie Wyoming is fantastic. The Pole mountain area has an extensive system of hiking biking horse riding trails that are well maintained in the summer and are groomed for xc skiing and skate skiing in winter. The area also has many camping sites. The other attraction is Vedawoo which is an amazing set of hills and mountains made of interestingly eroded granite boulders. Hiking and climbing around this area is really great, also has camping and other facilites.
Real wilderness still exists among the grasslands of Wyoming. Abundant wildlife bring the surreal to life here. Take nothing but pictures and leave only footprints.
A great place to get away from city life and spend quality time with the family. Plenty of roads to ride anything from bikes, atvs, and motorcycle. People respect your area and are polite.
Beautiful area! Nice trails and they continue to keep it multi-use: biking, hiking, livestock grazing, fishing, etc.!
It's awesome, great place to go for vacation, and to be free from distraction and noise..
Wonderful trail system for hikers, bikers and our horses. Stayed at corrals off headquarters road. Always peaceful and recent work to corrals has added to the safety. Road in pretty washboarded but plenty af trailer parking for bigger LQ trailers. Water carried from stream for horses
Great hiking trails with scenic vistas and a plethora of wild flowers to treat your senses. This time through I ran across a busy gopher "hotel".
I couldn't find any diabetic pills for my diabetes
Some of the most beautiful and sparse landscape that straddles the border between Colorado and Wyoming. You won't find tons of crowds or the touristy spots that some 'travelers' need but make no mistake this is a great place to visit for anyone who loves what the mountains and nature has to offer.
It's simply one of the most beautiful mountain ranges I've ever seen. The campgrounds are basic, no power, water or septic. It keeps it very affordable. The camp host were we stayed was great, really nice and helpful. He even gave us a trail map to keep.
I love it up here!!! You cant beat the mountains in the fall! I like to hunt and fish, and there's plenty of both here.
What a lovely outdoor space. Scenic & tranquil.
Just beautiful, camp here all year. Free camping. Be aware it is an open range area. There are cows.
Beautiful site to see.
Beautiful views, plus its free nothing better then a gorgeous day looking out at the great sceneries around you.
Beautiful drive, well maintained roads, and lots of wildlife too look at.
Home sweet home love this place
Scenic experience you will never forget! All ages will enjoy the views, wildlife, fishing, camping!
Outstanding! The rock formations! Very windy on the ridge tops so wear your layers and hang on to your hat.
It's an amazing place.
Gorgeous!! Can't wait to go back and actually spend time exploring!!
A great place for a hike. One of the main reasons we live in SE Wyoming is to enjoy the outdoors.
Drive up here before the sunrise, you won't find a better view of South Eastern Wyoming in the morning! Once the sun is up you can continue further up the mountains shoulders, there are many places to pull over and picnic if you want. Not much else out this way, this is mountain country and mostly big ranch owned. Beautiful scenery though, a good photographer will have many chances at some very unique shots!
Awesome place pretty damn cold
One of my favorite places to visit to camp, fish, and enjoy the great state of Wyoming
Always a great time! Not many people and just beautiful!
Amazing places to hike. Camping allowed on public lands, and plenty of wood to gather for firewood. Incredible rock formations to explore
Beautiful place to visit anytime of the year. You can enjoy free camping during the summer months. There are hundreds of miles of hov, and non-motorized trails to explore. Lot's of wildlife. We've seen: snow mouse, deer, elk, moose, mountain lion, black squirrel, chipmunks, and black bear tracks. During the winter months this is the place to come for snowmobiling, snow shoeing and cross country skiing. There are several lodges you can rent a cabin from. Check out Albany Lodge or Wycolo Lodge.
Beautiful relaxing low key most of the year
Absolutely beautiful I was able to see this place because of my job, but I'm considering a vacation to actually be able to see more.
Its peaceful and very beautiful out there!
It's always nice in the national forest! A little too many four wheelers tho, but that's anywhere in the mountains!
We did the crater lake trail. The trail was well marked and the forest is beautiful and peaceful. Just be aware that the roads within the forest are not very well taken care of. It will be a bumpy ride.
Enjoyed the versatility of the land. Sad that a fire happened years ago but great to see the new growth. Fun trail rides.
It is just breath taking being in the mountains and lake at the bottom
Lovely scenery, easy parking, cool breeze on mountain.
This is a very beautiful place to go to .a lot to see
The Wyoming Equality Rendezvous was great. The Medicine Bow National Forest is beautiful.
We always love Route National Forest! But make sure you check your road closures....we were disappointed that the place we had planned to camp wasn't open until after 5/31. Our bad for not checking before we left, but just be aware!
Very quiet. A lot of spot to disperse camp.
Scenic with lots of trails and beautiful rock formations to scramble up.
Great fun. Plenty of dispersed camping.
I drove past it & saw beautiful horses & scenery. Wasn't able to stop. Not for truckers
