Here you have all the opinions of real people like you who are buying the products and services of Guernsey State Park (Park) around Wyoming area.
Right now the business gets a rating of 4.6 over 5 and that score is based on 253 reviews.
You may have noticed that it has an average rating is basically the best, and it's founded on a very large number of feddbacks, so we can say that the score is very reliable. If there are many people who bothered to leave their opinion when they've done well, it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to set scores when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Park is included in the category of State park.
Beautiful view of the lake and surrounding hills
The park is beautiful. However, we had to leave early and were told by Tasha that refunds were not given unless you had to leave because of a death in the family. So make sure you read your agreement. We paid for four nights that we didn't use. We have camped in lots of state parks and have never experienced anything such as this.
Been there once ,needed a bigger boat, wind and all. Very exciting was white capping the boat, will bake this weekend.
Always a good time at Guernsey State Park. If you're not having fun here, you're doing something wrong.
Solid 4.5. Most beautiful lake yet in WY or CO. Lots of beautiful shorelline. You must ride up the river between the canyons. For boaters, the lake does have a lot of pinecones in it. No bug issues but dogs banned from beaches. Should have showers in larger campgrounds vs just main station.
Quiet& peaceful the lake was down but still very pretty.
Very beautiful and everyone is so friendly
Truly enjoyed our visit to Guernsey state park! A hidden gem. Beautiful scenery a slightly warmer micro climate. Amazing cliffs, caves and beaches. Secluded trails. Clean public restrooms. Boat launches and camper hookups. Lots of picnic areas. Wildlife were abundant. Deer relaxing in shady coves along the shoreline and birds soaring above.
Beautiful park. Easy access to campsites. Close to historical sites such as Ft. Laramie, Oregon Trail Ruts and Register Cliff. The lake is huge and is usually full - although it is emptied several times per year. Plenty of sandy beaches for the kids to wade and swim. Are you a lakeside partier who has a boat or jet ski and enjoys water sports? This is your scene. Expect loud music, all day parties with varying amounts of alcohol consumption, droning jet skis, ski boats and topping the list were the unmuffled jet boats with supercharged big block chevy's. Want to get away for some "peace and quiet"? The partying from a few campsites will continue well into the night. The last night we were there, I saw one drunk woman fall down right beside the vault toilet and her beer bottle smashed all over. She couldn't seem to get up so I stood up to go help the struggling woman and about then, her friend came out of the toilet to help her up. I was worried about the glass as my family used that toilet during the day. I went down to see what needed to be cleaned off the sidewalk first thing in the morning before any of my kids headed that way. Luckily, they or someone had already cleaned it up. The drunk woman did leave a pile of puke though. There is NO fishing here as the lake is totally drained a couple of times per year. You can float the North Platte but that is about it for angling. Don't even think about fishing from the banks. I tried 4 different public access areas and they were all basically for put in/take out for float trips. Two other things to bear in mind - both laden and unladen BNSF coal trains will rumble right beside the South side campgrounds all day and all night. They blow their horns to warn wildlife off the tracks - plenty of deer around Guernsey. Also, while we were there, the National Guard was having night time gunnery practice in their helicopters. The range where they fire is adjacent to the park. I am glad we went as we got to see the historical sites that we wanted to visit. Nice looking park - just not our scene.
Went to see the Eclipse, so didn't get to see the whole thing, but it is a beautiful park, and if the ease with which they handled the Eclipse traffic was any indication, it's staffed by some excellent rangers. Well developed infrastructure, some great trails, and some awesome veiws.
Is a beautiful area with so much to do. Your just minutes away from two historic sites of Wyoming and the Oregon trail. And the lake itself is truly wonderful
Beautiful park. Great views of canyons and Reservoir. Rv sites Electric and water only. Many dry sites. Sites large. Water front available. Updated-No showers or wash houses near campsites. Showers near hq building. Limited cell service. A low speed freight train runs through park. Prices ok.
Nice campground if it weren't for the trains 25 yards from the tents all through the night. Banging away while shifting cars back and forth all night. Blowing their whistles at 2 in the morning. No sleep! Never camp here again!
Loved the camping and views. Rattlesnakes were around. (I was there the third week in June) Thuroughly enjoyed the CCC museum!
Beautiful park!
Very nice lake. Very big. Never run out of places to discover. Nice accommodations and camping grounds.
An absolutely wonderful park. We stayed here 2 nights before the eclipse.
So beautiful! CCC museum, water power plant, overall views and got to explore the Oregon trail destinations!
Always a great time when we go there. We discover new things everytime.
Great for all water sports
It's home
The Castle for Steve and Leslie Then's Wedding! BEAUTIFUL Scenery!
Really nice, clean park. We stayed 1 night but are planning another trip soon as a destination.
So beautiful. Worth the trip to Guernsey.
The yurts are awesome!! It was cold at night but the wood burning stove kept us warm.
Very peaceful and quite except for the occasional train In the distance. No fish in the reservoir but beautiful to look at. Make sure to take the time to drive around the whole thing.
Fun, but could be better
Beautiful Scenic State Park
Beautiful
There is no fish in this lake and you have no mountain biking whatsoever so if you like to fish and mountain bike this is not the park for you.
Trains all night long, Army National Guard training ops with live ammo, and unkept hiking trails. Otherwise, beautiful scenery, nice museum and decent weather.
This state park is a real jewel. It is unlike any other state park in Wyoming in the scenery and in its historical significance. It is easy to spend a weekend here boating, hiking, biking or checking out all of the amazing CCC structures built in the 1930's. Don't miss the museum or a trip to the Castle
This is a great place to camp. There is a beautiful lake and lots of places to pitch your tents. There are bathrooms at multiple locations and the sites have fire pits and picnic tables. There is a cool little museum at the top that is ADA accessible. While interesting, some of the language and facts are dated to say the least. There are a couple of occurrences of the term "Red Man", referring to Native Americans. I am a history teacher and the idea that Natives were grateful for the coming of Europeans is a perversion of U.S. history.
Beautiful.
Just beautiful, ruged west.
Serene. Clean. Peaceful
AWESOME State Park
Remarkable scenery - an unexpected gem
Great place to camp
Beautiful!
Great place to jetski in the spring you can ride up the river for miles heard you can go all the way up the river to Glendo with enough water have to try next time I go for sure awesome location for cliff diving and every other outdoor adventure that suits you!
Awesome out of the way park. Found this park by accident and couldn't have been happier. Beautiful and every detail was thought out beyond my expectations. DON'T MISS THIS PARK!
Beautiful
This is a beautiful place with a beautiful lake and it's really quite. (Please keep it that way future visitors)
Love it. Amazing
Beautiful lake big sites. NO showers or flush toilets.
I'm not a fisherman/person. I just wanted a nice place to camp. Unless you have a reservation, you get sent out into the hither land with steep graded sites...primitive camping but you are charged the same as a hook up on the other side of the lake. Staff was surly too. The lake is beautiful but the park is not well maintained.
Ok park, nothing too special. Except the day we were there, got treated to a local tornado and a hail storm!
Waters clear and park is beautiful
Pleasurable experience. We enjoyed exploring by car. Very quiet camping. Beautiful
So cool

Visited this park at the beginning of October. Campsites were empty. No running water. The lake was drained to less than half capacity. I heard is a great place in the summer time.
Love going here year round!
One of the best places we stayed on a 3 week roadtrip. Quiet. Decent bathrooms, lovely views.
Love this place! Try to go every summer if we can!
It's just so beautiful every time I go there! I don't really like the narrow ish roads but the lake is so beautiful.
Stumbled on this accidentally... It's gorgeous, with a beautiful lake and great hiking. We'll be back!
Awesome
Great family time!! Lots of history!!!
Wonderful park, beautiful mountain views, wildlife, and hiking trails. Great camp and day use sites. The best thing about this park may be the well preserved Civilian Conservation Corps work. Massive stone and peeled log structures showcase this type of work. The Oregon Trail Ruts, Register Cliff and Fort Laramie are only a few minutes away.
Awesome day swimming
Black Canyon Point was a terrific campsite. Great views. Access to reservoir.
Beautiful State Park, great views, awesome boating lake or for camping.
Narrow roads, no water in first campsite, cramped unlevel RV sites $25.
Best lake in Platte County!
So beautiful
Fabulous! My family and I floated from just below the dam to Register Cliff today. Friendly staff at the gate. Clean restrooms. We'll maintained parking.
We stumbled across this place while on our way thru Wyoming. Blown away by its beauty, uniqueness, and almost hidden aspect. Wish we would have had more time to explore. Will go back!
There isn't much traffic, the camp sites have plenty of space, and the views are unbelievable.
one of my favorite places to take a quick overnight trip.
Perfect in August! The air is hot and the water feels great!
The Eclipse experience was GREAT here! The park staff was very organized and had planned out the area very well! The park was very clean and the temp facilities the park for the eclipse were ample and tended. Such a great "unknown" gem!
They promote the train as a positive on the website. But when it sits in the middle of the campground from midnight untill 2:00 am reving it's engines it is not a positive!! Won't stay there again!!
Fishing report: There is basically no fish in this lake. They drain the lake once a year so there are little fish. Looking to fish in the area, head to Glendo or Greyrocks. Other than that, it is a beautiful Park with lots of trails and history.
Beautiful, white sandy beaches.
Cliff jumping was the easiest I've ever had available. I love cliff jumping but sometimes it's a little risky. Sometimes you have to clear certain rocks or worry about not jumping too far, but not here. It was a cliff and you jump off about 30 feet into just water. Jump at your own risk of course, but it was easy and great for adrenaline junkies. I would recommend stopping by.
Beautiful park around Guernsey Reservoir. Went there for the 2017 solar eclipse, just for the day, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Being a geologist I enjoyed all the outcrops. Bathrooms were nice and clean. We visited the CCC Museum, and it was impressive to see the hand hewn beams and the sturdiness of the structure. Thanks to all the staff and volunteers who welcomed all of us eclipse viewers.
No map at entrance. Reservation only sign confusing at near north camp ground entrance. Beautiful park.
Beautiful place
Absolutely beautiful
So calm and peaceful. And great prices to get into the park.
Beautiful lake when full, nice campground
A stunning, beautiful place to spend a warm summer day
The hiking trails are terrific.
Beautiful views. Clean. Easy access for swimming and boating.
Beautiful place. Just wish there were fish
Beautiful site Lots of beautiful rocks and minerals Lake is awesome
Always love going anywhere out here. There's always a calming feeling that comes about you whenever visiting.
We enjoyed ourselves imensely. This is a place for everyone that is visiting Wyoming to see. If your ever in the area you should take time to look at all the sites in the state park.
We went with our office. Stayed at Sandybeach. Great location. Only drawback is the ground is covered in those Goathead weeds that stick to ur clothes and in ur shoes. Wear tennis shoes all the time.
One of our favorite places to spend time at.
Gorgeous ❤️
Don't tell anyone, but this is one of the best lakes in the area, but check the water levels because they can change over night.
Cool roomy plenty to do a lot of camping grounds
It beautiful
Swim and have good time
Great place to go
I recommend going here if your driving through Guernsey. For a small town this is sure a high light!
Beautiful
Beautiful lake. Great CCC construction on structures.
Had a great time there, cheap, clean family time!
Well worth the trip to stand in the tracks of history. Over 300,000 pioneers traveled through the sandstone rocks leaving an indelible mark of their passing. The Oregon, California, and Mormon trails all passed through here.
Beautiful Lake!
This park is a gem. Very few people even on Memorial Day weekend. The views are amazing, as is the history. This park was mostly built by the CCC, darn near a hundred years ago. The museum details all of this as well as life in this area. I have had the pleasure of exploring every foot trail in this park and all of them are great. Make a loop out of 2 or 3 of trails for a great hike. The amount of work that went into these trails is stunning. Rock features everywhere, man made and natural. After a hike, cool off at the Castle(made of massive stones that stay cool almost all day) to enjoy more great views and one of the coolest man made structures in the west.
I love Guernsey and the beautiful scenery. My family spends a lot of time and money there. We camped for several days during labor day weekend and for the most part enjoyed our time there. On the last night, a park ranger stopped by saying that there was a complaint about a running generator, and we didn't even own one. We had music playing that you couldn't here more than ten feet from our camper (we could barely here it sitting right next to it) and he told us that no electronic devices were allowed after ten, and made us shut it off (he refused to leave until it was off). Needless to say I was extremely unhappy. I later read the rules and regulations, and they clearly state that unless the noise is disruptive(there were no complaints), it is okay. I am extremely annoyed that this person chose to abuse his power and go agianst state park regulations and disrupt our last night. Because of this one individual, I would recommend people go camp anywhere but here, unless you want to be needlessly harassed.
Spectacular views, helpful park rangers, great place for picnicing and swimming.
Loved this place can’t wait to go back
When we visited in the middle of the week, we had the place to ourselves. Great scenery, beautiful accommodations.
It's okay
4 dollars to get into the park great place for the family and friends all kinds of things to do and see
Visited the park to view the solar eclipse in August of 2017. Scenery is vast and plentiful. Swimming areas and plenty to explore.
Hidden gem in the middle of nowhere.
Beautiful facilities, clean. Would return if in the area again
Best scenery and state park in this area
Sandy beach to many red ants that climbs your legs.
Have always, will always love this place
This is one of the most beautiful state parks i have been to ever. My wife and I love to explore this park and we are fortunate to live nearby. My family spent 2 nights in the yurts and had a wonderful experience. It snowed the first night and the park staff came multiple times and shoveled out the patio, a path to the bathroom, around our van and made sure there was a path for us to get out when we needed to leave. We lounged around during the day and they made sure we had enough firewood and all the things we needed. It was way better than the service that any hotel offers.
Amazing views. Was working at the hydro plant. 6$ for out of state plates.
Another beautiful Wyoming State Park
Beautiful reservoir, prices are ridiculous though-$50 for a second car at a reserved spot. Normally $7-$9 a night elsewhere
Sun in the sun
Not very famous by name. But it's actually an awesome place for camping and other activities like boating, fishing etc.
Gorgeous place that is fun to drive through. Watch out for critters and other tourists!
Such beautiful landscape and decently maintained trails for hiking and mountain biking!
Beautifully situated park near some nice scenery and some historic pioneer trail sites.
The yurts are very cool. However, they're pretty far from the lake so you're basically forced to drive to the lake. The yurts do not have electricity/power outlets. However, they have solar panels that run a fan and lights. There also isn't any running water near the yurts, just outhouse bathrooms. The state park really seems geared towards boats and jet skis. There isn't much else to do there, and the beach is pretty small.
Beautiful lake! Sand beach in camping area. Excellent camp sites!
Absolutely gorgeous park! The 'hub of the Oregon Trail'
Great park, we will be back. Surprisingly clean bathrooms. Friendly rangers. Downside was that trains ran by our campground all night. No firewood for purchase on site but was available right outside.
Camping here with family
Great Park. All staff were genuinely friendly. Went there for the Eclipse, and don't think a better place existed for it. Beautiful. Go there.
Beautiful sites amazing space
Awesome place
An underrated state park
Very nice.
Great camping places
So much fun and so many things to do.
This was our first trip here to camp. Bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. All the campsites very very clean. It was very well patrolled with park people. There for 2 days and had a lot of Rangers come through. There was 2 different kinds, a maintenance and more of a police kind. The police ranger we saw 3 to 4 times and the maintenance came through like 3 times a day. We were on a dead end road with several sites that were very spaced out and the 2nd night we were the only ones on the entire road. They were very strict about the dogs being leashed eventhough no one was around, which is understandable. The only thing that would be nice is if they cut down the "grass" at the sites as it was pretty high and the mosquitoes were in large swarms even though we were far from the water.
Very beautiful scenery. I was just site seeing for the afternoon, but plenty of spots for camping, boating & hiking. The reservoir was full during my visit, but apparently it gets drained periodically. I enjoyed the structures built by the CCC during mid 1930's.

Great place for tourist
The area is extremely scenic and beautiful. It's really hard to find any part of the state park and not be blown away by the views.
Amazing day
A great place to camp, hike and/or boat within the Wyoming State Park system. Lots of historical importance to this Park, and it has a museum in the hills above the dam to point out all of the different historical spots. Usually much quieter than rowdy Glendo State Park, too. There are some hiking trails you can bike on, but they were designed/built for hiking, not mountain biking.
