Schafer Park is a nice, neat and well organized park. The maintenance is very evident. I don't think that tent campers and RV campers should be charged basically the same price for spaces. Tent camping doesn't utilize electricity or water at the rate or volume an RV rig does. The bathroom facility was adequate, certainly not outstanding. The actual distance between sites is small and affords little to no privacy for tent campers.

Absolute serenity at it's finest. Had a perfect three days, then some drunks moved in two sites down from ours. Nobody on staff at 03:00 to report this to, so got little sleep. Wish the parks were like they used to be.

This is a very good spot to go camping. The campsites are huge and shaded. My favorite part were the bathrooms they have a hot shower! I had to shower after a 2 hours hike around the area. All you need is a token that you buy at the entrance. My family and I had a great time! Plus the creek that runs around...it was wonderful

Jenny Smith-Ferrin

There are some great tent sites located all around this campsite. If you have a larger camper or RV, you are limited to the front/main area with water and electric hook up’s in a more open space. There is only one bathroom/shower for the entire park which can get quite busy. Nice 1 mile walking loop across the street and fishing seems popular here. Overall, had a fun time and the area is beautiful with thick trees. Elma is only 20 minutes away if you need any groceries and Aberdeen is another 15 minute drive. There is no cell reception! We did drive into Elma once a day to make phone calls to teen kids who stayed home because of summer jobs.

Had a great time at our cubscout camping trip we stayed in thee group site it was awesome. Only problem is the bathrooms were locked the entire fiirst day so we had to walk across the park to get to bathrooms we could use.

Star Shine

Great park for day trips or overnight camping... Beautiful area secluded where the wifi and cell phones dont work! Great way to get back to spending time with ppl in real life instead of staring at our electronic devices;)

Patrick Yates

This is a great state park that can get a little crowded. It's beautiful, with a camp store that usually had almost anything you need. People bring their dogs, and tend to forget state law about leashes. I'd stay here again, but you have to book your spot wicked early in the year, it's popular!

zhiguo li

Went there for a group camping. Site is ok for group camping, individual camping site seems much better. Quiet place for a good sleep. One hour's drive to the shore. Restroom is not very clean though, but it's camping site, so.

We stayed here last night of a 10 day camping trip. We reserved a site on-line the week before so the selection of sites were some what limited. We selected #19 which was a large site with lots of shade and a trial that lead to the rivers bank, not really anywhere to sit along the bank or play in the water from this trail, but it was still nice to walk to the river from the campsite. The main campground in the parking lot area has an area to sit by the river, the only problem is that you feel like you are intruding on someones camp area even though these sites are about 20ft back. We opted to walk across the street to the park area where you can sit on a nice sandy beach and wade in the river, it would even be a great place to put a small raft in and float back down to the campground. We don't have little ones anymore so I am not sure if there was a playground or not. We have a camper so no need for a tent, but there would be plenty of room in this site to put one up and then some. the ground is pretty rocky so a blow up mattress would be good if tenting. this site was a little more secluded than the others seem to be and with only one other campsite next to us, it was pretty private. The other sites in the front of the campground are all pretty much open space, no tree or shrubs for privacy. I think the best sites for privacy are 19, 20, 21 and 22 The restroom was small with one bathroom and one shower (.50 for 3 or 5 min ? ) not sure if there was electrical plug-ins for drying you hair or not, but they seems to be clean for a public bathroom. The host at the time we stayed here was one of the best camp host I think we have ever encountered, friendly and very helpful with information, meet us just as we drove in to the campground to welcome us, VERY FRIENDLY!!! We would stay here again.

Grass not mowed, leaves from last fall still in sites. Campstore not open. Friends said they have been camping there said nobody checked them in they just pulled into the site. Another friend stated they pulled in and the park staff just came up and was worried about extra vehicles and did not check them in. Screws sticking through stall walls a major safety issue.

Beautiful place to visit in the fall. If you go please keep it clean.

Can hardly wait to go back

Garnet Sprehe

We were hoping for a spot to easily get to the river and found only a couple of areas like that. Both already had the areas basically full. Needs more easy river access. Campsites are close to each other, although we didn't stay. It is quaint and at least has flushing toilets.
