Vary nice place to visit vary pretty drive over highway 20 or north cascade highway

I enjoyed this place so very much. The old growth is breath taking. The hike, although we ran out of daylight to complete, was full of beauty. Definitely plan on going again to finish the hike.

A gorgeous park for stopping and exploring during the day. There is no camping, but it is close to other camping options and Rockport has some relaxing, not intense trails that wind through stunning old growth Pacific Northwest temperate rainforest with cedars, firs, and a rich surrounding plant community. I am not a birder per se but I believe it is a hotspot for that as well. It is an extremely peaceful, quiet, inviting place to visit and linger in. I've been there multiple times in busy and shoulder seasons and it has never felt crowded. If you're only stopping briefly while you're on the road, there is free 15 minute parking, picnic tables, and restrooms, underneath towering fir trees.

It's a lovely park but personally I feel like, compared to all the other parks Washington has to offer, it's nothing special.

Jim Perez

Beautiful old growth forest. Campsite closed which is ridiculous, unless dangerous from trees falling. On the hike we saw a LOT of HUGE trees down. beautiful hike!

Rockport State Park is a beautiful day use park in the North Cascades. 700 acres of hiking trails in the old growth forest dating back to 1600's. A storm in 2007 brought the giant trees down and the park had to be closed for repairs. It is now open for picnics and hiking. Many events are held during the year including plant walks and mushroom walks in the fall. They hold deep forest tours in the winter. The Sr Park Aide and park hosts are happy to answer questions to make your visit enjoyable. This is definitely a destination.

In a semi-blocked area where you can see deprecated RV camp sites, you can drive through a path that will remind you the rise of the planet ape. You are sure human have been here, but not anymore. I am particularly impressed by the plants.

Quiet with beautiful old growth forest trails.

We were camping at Rasar State Park and did the 20 minute drive over to Rockport to walk among the old growth. Absolutely stunning. Photo's just don't do it justice. The trail was well-maintained without detracting from the beauty of the forest. Easy 3+ mile hike (we did the Evergreen Trail). Several nice places to sit and have a snack on the hike. Beautiful creeks flowing throughout. Amazing trees. Just awe inspiring. Worth the drive and wonderful to see. No restrooms on the hike, just at the day parking area, so be prepared!

John Carvalho

Great old growth park. Good place if you have younger ones who you are trying to get into hiking.

Zak Kalles

Amazing dense forest with a small education center for the kids

Tami Baublitz

Beautiful easy trails through large growth forest and maple trees almost as tall as the first. Forest floor golden this time of year with so many leaves. Enjoyed the river views on the trail across the highway. Great place for a bathroom break too.

Love this place

Jessica Williams

A beautiful off-the-beaten-path park with lots of great short loop trails for kids. Hiked a couple trails today with my four-year-old and 18-mo old. Since the campground is closed (permanently?) It's quieter than most state parks in the summer, while still having bathrooms and excellent picnic areas. The park hosts old-growth douglas fir forests with high species diversity, we enjoyed listening to multitudes of birdsong along the trail including a grouse.

Eila Pergiel

Nice hike, very easy hikes. A lot of rugged up rooted trees and moss on everything

A shame that the camping loop has been closed for fear of topping trees, but it is still a fantastic day use park. Beautiful example of our native forest ecosystem

PRIYA BHARDWAJ

Must visit place

No longer any camping -- in deference to keeping the roots of trees healthy. The old growth is a treasure, and since there is no camping, it is not crowded the way it could be

Can't beat the old growth forest hikes here. Tried a new hike called Fern Creek trail about .5 miles long, skinny trail up and down in places, roots and rocks to watch out for. Walking stick helped. Our own hall of mosses without traveling all the way to the Hoh Rain Forest on the peninsula.

This was a really nice and quiet park. We stopped here when geocaching. They have restrooms with flushing toilets and running water. It was a nice place to stop and we felt safe when here. I did not see any camping, but I could be wrong. They did have a big open area for your dog to run and stretch its legs.
