Potlach State Park is so pretty! It has a beautiful view of the Puget Sound and a great shore line. Dogs are allowed and welcome. We were there on a sunny day and there were many families and dogs hanging around enjoying the sunshine and the picnic tables.

Nichole Tudor

Beautiful area, beach directly across thw street with complete view, site easy to pull in and out of, well maintained, close enough to Shelton if you need to go to the stores for anything.

Khyle Socrates Jaen

One of our all time favorite places to hang out on a beautiful day. Potlatch is such a special place. Lots of room for bbqs with friends and family. Good space for some frisbee throwing and the water wasn't too bad either. Can't wait to go back!

Relaxing and beautiful

Russ Roush

Too close to Hwy 101 with no trees blocking noise. Play field right next to RV camping means potential for lots of noise from morning until late evening. Major power lines that run over the play field and cross the campground. Very little hiking and nature walking available. The beach involves walking across busy 101. Except for picnic tables not much available at beach. No dock makes fishing difficult. For boaters only tie-up buoy, bring your own raft to come ashore. Self check in for camping. Stayed 2 nights, without the camp host or any ranger saying a word even though a ranger taped a check in ticket to windshield. On last day of stay they unloaded an excavator at 8am to work in the play field only to take a break at about 10 am. Surely the could have started later to not ruin everyone's breakfast. RV sites include power, water and sewer hookup. At camp site had 2 bars service with Verizon and T Mobile.

Dana Greenbaum

Great place to stretch your, legs, or exercise the dog on your way to Port Townsend & beyond. You may see mollusk seeking divers here.

Jason Zhou

Great park to check out on a weekday. Hit the low tide to gather oysters and clams.

Katrine Colten

It's a good place to stay if you want to get some oysters, clams, shrimp or crab. It is not quiet, right on 101. All of the facilities are good.

Matthew Finnesgard

A great little park. If you have a Discovery Pass you can park all day, but they also have free 15 minute parking. The park itself is really scenic and with a gorgeous view.

Eric Woelker

Nice park, right on the water. Plenty of picnic tables and parking. We just stopped in quickly, but overall it seemed like a nice place to enjoy a relaxing day by the water -- not really a beach park, though, just as a heads up.

Brandon Boss

Potlatch State Park is it wonderful place to dig for clams and for a beautiful ocean view. The park is wide open and spacious. Good for walking the dog or just going for a stroll.

k chappelle

Beautiful spot very relaxing! Someone before us left a mess or it would have been a 5

Very beautiful. Great for kayaking/canoeing. Has amazing views. The beach has a lot of oyster shells on it, you can read more about it. Nice temp for the water.

Lesley Blair Paine

We will go again.

Kristen Runvik

Great family spot for picnicking in the area. Lots of clam and oyster digging if you’re into that. Expansive views.

Kari Welte

Pretty park. A bit windy sometimes.

Cal Marche

This is a great state park, I always stop coming from either direction. Clean restrooms and the views are always good. Lots of room to walk and stretch your legs. The shoreline is very accessible and your always sure to see some wildlife be it in the water or on land. Picnic tables to rest at and get a quick bite before hitting the road. Beats stopping at a minimart.

Ellie Cummings

...we have stopped here for over 20 years on our way up north. ...bathroom heated...always clean, and stocked...dogs go pee in the large grass area...and we are back on the road...

Shaunya Fraysher

Quiet. Peaceful and easy to find, park, enjoy.

Joanna Latson

Very clean camp ground, bathrooms were super clean. Beach was spacious with lots to play. Campground was very well maintained. Other campers very respectful and quiet.

Luis Rodriguez

Great place for kids. Has showers and onsite hookups like power water and sewer. Only downside is if you get a campsite near the highway. Very loud with cars and trucks passing through 24/7. Word to the wise, BRING EARPLUGS if you want to get any sleep.

Kathleen Smith

Bathrooms very clean - Kudos Odessa - Hosts Dave and Debbie exceptionally helpful, great at litter patrol and accurate with information. Rented site in lower campground at 37.50 with full hookups and pull through BUT Highway was so noisy and busy... No peace, no quiet, no privacy, overpriced considering the highway. Been in rest stops quieter than this! Upper campground very quiet and peaceful but no hookups. Next time will dry camp in peace and serenity of upper camp sites! Day use beach across highway nice but could use more maintenance on tables.

JB Karls

Lots of things to do. There's plenty of hood canal beach with shellfish, fishing, wildlife spotting, day access picnic area, camping, sunrises, exploring. Potlatch state park is a great place to get away.

09251954

Potlatch State Park is a 57-acre Washington state park located on Hood Canal near the towns of Potlatch and Shelton in Mason County, Washington. The park offers camping, hiking, boating, fishing, shellfish harvesting, beachcombing, and sailboarding with 5700 feet of saltwater shoreline on Hood Canal.

Sean Flood

Clean bathrooms. A nice mid way stopping when driving down 101. Great views a nice place to get out and stretch your legs. Have a small or even bbq.

Dirk Quick

Park is nice Full restrooms with showers close to town

Krystal Rose

Not a bad campground, they gave us their last open spot which unfortunately was at the entrance of the campground and near the highway. They had showers but I didn't get a chance to use them because the token machine wouldn't take the dollar Bill's. The Rangers were great, had an awesome conversation with one at our campsite.

David Duzenski

Love this place , its incredible the showers are always hot .. Great hiking trails .. Great park on the other side to its part of the campsites . lucky Dog Casino is right downt the road dinners and breakfast are great and if u want to gamble or dance the night away its fun .

Penny Allmett

Love this park! A great place to stop on a long trip. Easy on/off highway.

Junle Li

A good place to harvest oyster and shellfish.

Yevette Baker

Great place to put on your visiting list. Beautiful n clean. Camping available as well as day use with some BBQ pits and tables.

Awful Falafel

Beautiful waterfront area, well maintained grass, and, as always, the water of the south Hood Canal is never too cold. Just like Twanoh, but more grass.

Rosie Lee

You should have a Discover Pass to visit. Plenty of parking, room for children to run, keep animals on leash, rest room available, and picnic. Good views of Hood Canal.

Phil Smith

Very nice little park across from Puget Sound. Part of it is closed this time of year and the water is turned off at the campground, but the showers and restrooms are open.

Milagros Miraflor II

Love this Place

Wills Pritchard

This is a great little campsite with very good access to the Hood Canal. The park staff were also extremely knowledgeable about the local attractions in the area. Hike/bike camping is also available, which is pretty helpful.

Reno Munro

Camping and day privileges to the beach.

Melody Duran

First time camping here and it's not bad. Our site (#83) is spacious and relatively secluded, there are some small trails to hike here in the campground (about a mile or so long) and it's not far from the hood canal; about a 6/7 minute walk or a couple minutes driving. However, this camp is also odd because there are random trailer homes just sporadically placed here and there. Like, not RVs or motorhomes, but permanent trailer homes. Some are lived-in and some have caution tape up around them because they are abandoned and condemned. Having usually camped at Oregon State campgrounds, this is strange to me, having homes intermixed between campsites. Maybe it's the norm in WA? I don't know. Anyway, one other concern would be the lack of availability of people in the office. A couple times when we stopped by, no one was there, even though it was during their open hours, and we've seen someone roll by to check on the sites or sell firewood only twice in the last 24 hrs. And while some of the sites are pretty cool, many others are right on top of the next and have zero privacy. Some of them are even right next to the highway. Like, the highway guard rail is the back of the site. Kind of odd. Other than that, I like it.

JK Brown

Easy beach access and an abundance of oysters and clam. Good times for the family l.

Courtney King

Loved it here and had so much fun! Great campsite and lots to do!

Derek Shi

Super nice park for shell fishing and clamming. They have shelter to rental to do weekend BBQ.

Cute little area to stop and have a picnic with the kids

Candace Ames

Its city camping this isn't real camping

Jack Colson

Beautiful northwest scenery

Janice Dundas

Awesome place for camping. This was our first visit here. We'll definitely be back. Nice size campsites, plenty of water spickets available, bathrooms and showers well kept, very friendly staff, just can't say enough positive. One of our new favorites.

david bailey

Peaceful serene location. Love to stop here when I am in town.

Brady Collinson

We camped here over labor day. It was a clean beautiful place with great showers and bathroom facilities.

Paul Emberger

This is a beautiful park. Lots of picnic benches, some in the sun and some in the shade of very big trees. The water is easily accessible. And there is a restroom. Even if you don't have the Discover Pass, there are a few 15 minute parking spots. Totally worth the stop if you're traveling rt. 101.

Tonya Furia

It's very peaceful

Heidi Shepherd

Clean bathrooms and showers, wonderful staff, clean sites, easy access from the main road, close to Puget Sound, quiet.

Chad Chapman

Big park? Small Park? Let the tide decide! Fun place for families but not much in the immediate area. Bathrooms were clean, thanks Wa State Parks staff!

STEVE MCNEW

It's a pretty view

Pareekshit Singh

Have been here twice. It's a nice park with a nice waterfront.

Michael Jakositz

Super fun place to camp and go clamming.

Ryan Roberts

this is a nice place to check out I have stopped here a few times with the motorhome wife and kids love to comb the beach we got a bunch of delicious oysters there last time we stopped by definitely a good place to walk the dogs

Siobhan McLeod

Beautiful place to stretch your legs.

Kil Han

We have known this park for a long time. I remember there were lots of oyster and clams. 1 weeks ago we just stop by the park for break. The park is still beautiful and comfortable and many people enjoyed picinic with barbecue under the wonderful sunshine..

Pamela Wallace

Great place to walk your dog. There are always others around.

friendly ghost

Split down the middle by Hwy 101, beach access to the Hood Canal means crossing this busy road. There's a large beach and a roped swimming area. Waters are almost always calm as it broadens out here. There's a boat ramp and easy access for a relaxing kayaking experience. I can't imagine it would be a quiet place to camp given that the 101 stays busy round the clock.

Lindsay Fair

Great trails! I love the adventure of exploring every little offshoot. Wonderful photo opportunities. My 71 year old Mother (she's a hiker!) and I had a great day out. :)

Judy Jacobus Grove

Very friendly staff and volunteers.

Shari Underhill

Beautiful place can swim in summer at own risk. Picnic tables and grills. Check if burn ban is in effect. Clam digging only certain times of year with permit. You need to pay to enter park unless you display Senior or Disabled Veteran card on dashboard. There is bathrooms. They are not wheel handicap accessible. Camp ground is across the street if you like camping with bathhouse. Close to Lucky Dog Casino if you want food or gas. Hunters Farms is close for ice cream and fresh produce.

Ken Groves

Best kept secret on Hood Canal. Awesome camp ground.

cammy merriam

Day use area well kept with lots picnic tables on grassy area and nice beach for the kids. Camping area across the street (HWY 101) is on gravel, cramped and primitive. Spaces small, close together and some utilities did not work. On-site host was no where to be found and office was closed. Bathrooms functional but need updating. Would not recommend for camping.

Tracy Amin

So much fun! The campground hosts were super helpful and friendly and they kids had a blast. And low tide at the beach was an amazing adventure for all of us! It is close quarters from one tent site to the next so it’s luck of he draw as to who you camp next to at night.

Debra Bunting

Really nice not as secure until June then more park rangers beautiful location and park

Jami Gilbertson

Good for camping close to the Hood Canal. Areas both close to Hwy 101 and some farther away. A good place to bring the kids for a weekend and check out the beach at low tide.

Tracy W

Beautiful views, pretty park & restrooms. Sea lions fishing off shore

Ilona lord

it's too close to the highway and to get from your campsite to the water you have to cross a highway with traffic traveling 50 mph

Jimmy d

Nice park on, plenty of picnic tables, and good beach access for digging Manila clams and shuck ing oysters.

Kayla Briggs

Love this park! Perfect to take my dog to so she can play in the water. Gorgeous view too!!

Sharon Marriott

Peaceful, well kept, sea breezes. This is where my where we carried out my late husband's final wishes of spreading his ashes in the Pacific Northwest's Pacific Ocean. We truly loved this park. The park ranger was very accommodating to our wishes.

Sarah Brewer

It was super loud. Cars on the highway. Babies crying . Lots of people just screaming.

Mitchell Yin

Tucked in the folds of misty Puget Sound, Potlatch is a quaint state park that must be damp more often than not. Everything approaching the coast carries a weathered breath about it, and Potlatch does not elude this atmosphere. The amenities--public restrooms and undercover picnic sites--are serviceable and kept, but simply weathered. Nobody goes to a state park for comfort, and comfort you will not need, for there is much to do here by way of action! Clamming, oysters, fishing, and camping are all accessible just off the freeway, and situated near Bremerton Ferry Terminal, it seems a day trip is simply too convenient to ignore.

Pamela Cooper

Really cool place. Lots of oysters here.

Suzanne Marie

my dogs love this park for their pee break...lol...there is a clean restroom too. stopped there again today to walk the park stretching my legs...captured the fly fisherman doing his thing

Yousreng He

You require to have Discovery Pass for a car park. The annual pass is $35, and you can buy it near the site. They also provide a 15 minutes car park for free too. There are many tables and BBQ grill you can use. This park also has a significant public restroom. This little park where you can find oyster expose directly without stick with a rock. Moreover, you can find many types of Clam, such as Razor clam, Geo-duck, and Horse clams.

Marina Storm

Very disappointed in this place. Traveling the northwest from Alaskan our Subaru, I guess we are just used to friendlier people. Camp manager (?) was extremely rude to me as I was trying to pay, told us we got to the national park “too late” to stay and then proceeded to interrogate us on what we were doing out so late. Obviously we are trying to camp if we asked about how to pay already, I explained we had been driving /hiking all day and were tired and just wanted to sleep. Ended up staying in Olympic Natl forest later that night. Highly recommend as the staff are polite; even gave us recommendations on hikes in the area.

Nick Hayes

Really cool park in the woods and water. Some very private camp sites and others quite open and public.

Makalai Michaels

Family camping trip. It was nice and relaxing. Easy to find, right off the highway. However we had kids and this is not a kid friendly we had to spend the day at a nearby (20 mins away) park for the kids to have activities. For adults loooking for a place to relax this was a nice park. Clean, everything worked, the host was a very nice gentleman.

Donna Trilli

Favorite place to start dangling my toes in the salt water.

Tiffiney Anderson-Luce

This a cool State Park!

Nat Niehaus

Great clam dig

Niladri Sannigrahi

Nice park by the river..a lot of opportunities for collecting oysters if you are into it. Great views and lots of picnic tables! The location is also very convenient, right next to 101. Recommended for a quick stop over.

Evan Wright Stewart

Easy going campground. Some sites are close together with little privacy and others are secluded so it may help to look online to plan ahead.

Donald Cabansag

Great family outing gathering some oysters and clams at this beach, they have benches all over to picnic at. Great views and clean bathrooms.

Cody Gray

Great place for bbq or picnicking.

Zeus Union

Love it out there, so does Burner.

Kevin Bayer

Beautiful location. Quiet.

Abey Rush

I really like this state park. The rangers are so helpful . Clamming , wind surfing . It's smaller and secluded. It's on my favorite list for the area.

morris yuen

Lots of people in the summer even for rainy days. Lots of oyster but limited clams. Discovery pass needed. Pay at the spot is 10 bucks.

Ryan Horton

Awesome little park.

Ewes Goldsby

Easiest Oysters on Hood Canal

j bird

Wonderful place to take the family for a picnic

Connie Wesson

Campgrounds really small and too close together. 23 ft trailer doesn't fit in site without unhooking the truck. ( Suppose to be 31 ft site). One bathroom and one shower for 91 sites. The day use site across the hwy is beautiful. The Rangers are nice. However we won't camp here again.

Randy George

Love the view

Denee Lambert

Beautiful, quiet, park ranger was very helpful and friendly.

Henry Friedman

Picnic tables, bathrooms, good parking, beach access to the water, excellent views, cell phone service. Good spot for a picnic!

Candace Mullen

Clean open park. One covered area with bbq pit for parties. Bathrooms are decent. Pet friendly area

lisa kensil

This campground is directly on highway 101 - esp sites 1-6 or 8 so noise a big problem. Good place to stay if you’re in a pinch or desperate but I would definitely avoid the first 8 spots. Also, the sites are like sardines so your neighbors are pretty much your family and totally in your face. Across the busy highway is the hood canal which is beautiful. We were able to run our dog in the water and have long walk. It’s really nice. The campground itself was very clean- 1 star. I thought the bathrooms were impeccable. The shower also very nice. One dollar for two tokens and six minutes of hot shower. The camp host found my hubs phone and called mine which saved us a nightmare. For this, 2 stars. The fees for this campground were out of control. For four nights it was $173 for various taxes and fees. In addition, there was no mention of a fire ban on the website, however, when we got there there was no fire or charcoal allowed. I found this interesting when a group next to the camp host was sitting around a hot fire on the day we departed early to stay at Big Creek. I didn’t bother to ask why… In retrospect, it was a holiday weekend and I felt I had to book something. It was disappointing and expensive. We drove up to big Creek and there were plenty of openings. And also, no fire ban. If you’re in this neck of the woods, make sure to check out hama hama oyster bar. Great oysters, wine and music. We will definitely be back to big Creek Campground!

Evelyn Wyena

Went past three years in August love it every time. Kids enjoy it, take kids leagues there for softball.

Bizzy Dreamer

Awesome Park. Nice little spot and restrooms are clean.

Tracy Hayes

Great time clamping and picking oysters. Nice facilities. Close to the ocean and gentle enough slope for some handicap access.
