This park is great for many reasons just DON'T FORGET YOUR DISCOVER PASS. they check frequently for them here. I love taking my dog for walks on their many trails. They have dock access for boats, Sandy and rocky beaches, a large lagoon, shell fish and oysters in season, camping, and so much to see. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

Michelle

Beautiful place to visit, stay, linger... enjoy nature!

Mike McKamey

Great place to car camp. The kids loved playing in the water at high tide and in tide pools at low tide.

Charles Cunningham

Quite tranquil, but it also appears to be a great spot to let all of the kids run amok.

MidgetMan

Nice size camping spots and fresh oysters on the beach!!! 35$ per night.

Jim Guthrie

Moored up on a bouy. No one there!

garydiamond13

Walk about Washington

Great State park. A little busy with the kids around, but we stayed in the area of "tents only"; 38-43. All other spaces accepted RVs. The park accepts pets and there were a ton. Good for a weekend outing.

Carmen Miller

The trail was really gentle and even with a haze Mt. Rainier was magnificent. The water was clear. The hike back was gentle and chill. Will def be going back. #Militarywild #AutismFam

Don Chase

Nice woods and trails. Great beach at low tide. Beware some campsites are on a hill and narrow. Park staff friendly. Restrooms are clean.

Kelly McIvor

Contrary to other reviews this park was quiet and peaceful at night. We were in #44, which is super private but perhaps removed from the crazies? Sad that oyster clam and crab harvesting was closed. Got plenty of mussels tho.

Aspen Richter

I go for the clams in the spring. Technically maybe I should take off like half a star because the grassy area is always a mud field at that time of year. It has bathrooms, picnic tables, a beach, clams at low tide, a larger parking lot, and a beautiful looking camping area up the road from the beach. The beach is mostly gravel or sandy gravel or muddy gravel, so don't go expecting to build sand castles. We've always had lots of fun.

Robert Hawkins

Great trails to hike into that can take you to several different, very cool places. I love to get out of the house and go visit here for the day, especially since we only live about 10 minutes down the road. Penrose is for sure a Key Peninsula treasure.

Melissa Wolkenhauer

This is an amazing park. The trails are great, I jog them a few days a week with my dogs. During off season the park is always quite, vey tranquil. Also during off season the campground is empty just about every day of the week. During summer season Penrose is packed-the campground is full every day of the week.

Harrison neal

Friendly staff,great photo ops

Mitch Bookey

A truly wonderful and beautiful place to visit. The hiking trails are lacking but worth the Walkabout. The Beach was very clean and sea lions we're out for a romp. All sorts of waterfowl doing whatever it is waterfowl do

Ava Elliott

Bring your bike! There are many trails to explore and a lovely beach to sit on and daydream along with a dock and sunshine

John Utz

Nice camping and picnicking park on the sound

Matt Cannard

State parks often turn out to be the same in principle: a campsite, a gravel parking area, a fire pit and picnic table, ad nauseum on a smelly bathroom. But Penrose State Park delivers more: a heterogeneous forest with the best of what the Puget Sound has to offer, married with a kid friendly roadway, a dock to fish and swim the day away. It really is beautiful.

Heather Hamilton

This is one of my favorites, and I'm still finding trails to roam. This is a gem on the peninsula and great camp sites, including boat in spots.

Joe Gordius

Great Oysters and Clams

Todd Rikansrud

Great family environment

Linda Schultz

Love taking puppies on walks here

James Slater

This is a great Puget Sound beach. Be sure to come during low tide as you can walk out furtherc on the beach and find all kinds of sea critters. My kids loved their adventure to this beach.

Chris Spohr

Great Dockage & Hiking!

Tea Leaves

Great sites location and local vendors, clean bathrooms

Eric Zwick

Nice campground

Allen Hook

Nice State Park campground. All dry camping but generators are allowed till 9pm. Potable water to fill water tanks on RVs. Pull in by sani dump and just past the dump is the potable water spigot. Lots of trails through the woods and to the beach. Large day use area.

Steve Strassburg

Love this place. Great for kayaking.

Nicole Matteau

Loved it, loved it, LoVeD it!! Went camping for 4 days in March(2018), a

Jim Bellamy

Great beaches, great trails through the forest. Views of Puget Sound and Mount Rainier. A float and a dock for boaters and kayaking.

Kim Crowder

Very busy, lots of picnics and parties happening. Beach area very rocky. Visit was during low tide.

Jessica Wood

Gorgeous park in my favorite area of Washington. Hiking and beaches. Tons of photo opportunities We went on a foggy day when the water was perfectly still.

Patricia Olson

The first time we camped here we loved it but just got back and we were disappointed. Don’t camp here in the first week of August. There’s an annual trip of Burmese Mountain dog owners and their dogs. Nice people and beautiful dogs but group camping and large dogs add to a noise factor. One of the things I hope for while camping is quiet. We left a day early.

Rob Powers

A great place to camp. Clean accessible facilities. Nice hiking paths. Beautiful views and beach. Kid friendly. Fishing, clamming, biking, kayaking, canoeing. Swimming, jogging, beach combing and people watching are all available activities.

Zach

Nice place. Can't complain!

Jessica Vogan

Always a great time with family

Gary Dering

Typical, beautiful, wild Olympic peninsula forest and shoreline. With 13' daily tide movement, and the shallows here, the beaches vary by hundreds of feet in places. Great for shellfish. Nice trails in the forest. Nice campsites. Nice restrooms. A little over 1/2 hr from the Narrows Bridge.

Theresa Banks

Great camping and picnics... fun day hikes

Ronald Smith

It has really nice beaches and the hike was beautiful and easy. Only down side is that it is $10 a day to go the unless you have the pass.

Lanny James

Absolutely beautiful forest and beaches with good trails and at least 5 types clams stocked on the beaches. Catch salmon and catch/return sea run trout off the point.

TheKpalexander78

Love the place we had lot#69 and it was perfect for 3 family's. Trees where beautiful looking. Can't wait to go back

Benjamin Trapp

I've been camping here since I was little. Spacious and fairly private camp spots, great waterfront at high or low tide

Gerard Gousman

Beautiful park, spacious sites with great tree coverage. Family friendly. Clean pissers, running water.

GC Sinclaire

Wonderful hiking trails for a great workout, some roots on some of the loops but lots of fun.

Gary Potocki

Penrose is a Jewel of My Past that connects the Present and My Future Memories , very fond in childhood with my deceased Grandparent back to the late 80s. Including good times with Friends since. This place is locked in time and will be with Me always. A nice getaway locally from over the bridge to relax and de-stress. Happy Home Camper always 1988- 07/19 todate - my deepest apreaciations to the state of Washington maintaining this beautiful Park INCLUDING the Ranger and staff keeping it going!!")

Gil Anderson

Good for morning walks

Brian Lange

Clean campgrounds, beautiful scenery, and relaxing atmosphere.

N Dhai

#Key for #Day camping, all amenities and facilities, sail in and make it a week of relaxation.

Nate Popovich

Cool park. Would be fun with kayaks. Check shellfish regulations before you go.

Melissa Sherburn

A beautiful place to take the kids at low tide, and the trail we walked was easy for the kids!

Claire Xie

A green paradise. Tall, beautiful evergreens leave just enough views to see the stars at night. When the tide is low, it's time to walk the beach to explore sea life.

Gary Fors

Great day for a sunny hike in the woods and on the beach.

Rosie Rosenbaum

Love this park. Hung out here quite a bit when I liveded on the peninsula.. very calming and soothing by the water.

Kai Bannon

There is a lot of places to walk on and a big beach but the campsites don't have resources provided to your RV and there's not much else to do there. It's only worth spending 2-3 days there if you just want to walk on the beach and hike on the trails. Also some parts can be really trashy there.

Jason Sonneman

Not a bad ltl campgrounds but it's right off the highway and hear and see cars all day n night unless you get camp spots in the back area, but theres some permanent mobile home trailers back there as well, so for me personally, doesnt really feel like camping.

David Lam

About a 2 hour drive from Seattle, this park is far enough away from the city to isolate yourself but not far enough to lose cell service. The space we reserved was large enough to park 3 vehicles. First car is covered by reservation fee. The additional cars are $10 a piece. There is firewood for purchase at the site at $5 a bundle. A picnic table and fire pit with a grill comes standard. The dock is a little walk away. There's some trails to get around the park. Lots of family with kids so be patient. Restroom is clean but small. There's a lake for fishing nearby and also a park for stargazing at night.

Martina Campbell

Amazing place. the campground was beautiful and so were the surroundings. So much to do for a family and they are also dog friendly which was a big plus for us. The beach was beautiful and so much to see. check the tide times so you can explore the beach as well :)

Brian

Great place for a picnic and a hike. Also has overnight boat morage and 82 camping sites! Washington and Florida might have the best state parks in the country.

M III

I love this park. It has great beaches and my favorite are the hikes through the many trails it has.

Alishia Mccoll

It is a beautiful state park with great campsites. Literally a five minute walk to the beach we spent all day out there exploring... would definitely recommend to others

killaCam Arnold

What What

Beautiful state park, leash your pets and kids if they're unruly.

Lucas Field

Beautiful area for a couple short hikes through the woods and along the beach

Danielle Wright

Nice and clean.

TJ McCue

Great park that gives you trails through the woods and access to beach, lots of access to beach and water. Good place for Stand up paddleboards.

Adrienne Hall

Love this place either for camping, walking the trails, or just having fun at the beach. I've been to a lot of state parks and this one is my favorite. If I could give more then 5 stars I would.

Blue Sama

Good privacy site. Loud at night and no Ranger or camp owner complains. Gas and market real close. Clam, oyster, and crab site close by, white sand beach. Hiking. Picnic area. Kid swimming area.

Sarah Ngugi

Was wonderful camping nice view

Gregori Lopez

Visiting by boat be careful on lower tides. The entry channel entry has one or two chart depth markings that are correct but we have seen 4-5 feet here before. We use Boating HD charts from Play store.

April Kelley

Went out on a boat and stayed the night at the Penrose State Park Marina, very nice Park.

Chris Slater

Nice picnic area and beach! Descent kayak area. A lot of boat traffic but had fun.

Michael O

Really nice park, very well marked trails.

MagicalKingdom

This is the best state park I've been to. There's an amazing tide pool here, and it's not a bad place for rockhounding. Plenty of trails, great place for kayaking or BBQs. Amazing views of the Olympic Mountains, plenty of privacy if you look for it. If you're planning a trip out this way, and you have a Discover Pass, think about checking out Joemma Beach and Kopachuck state parks as well :)

Tara Phillips

A must see!! Go when the tide is low and you will see tons of sand dollars and sea life. Gorgeous.

David WTube

Great hiking trails. Beach access. And camping

Adam T253

koos kleven

Lots of benches and parking for your day use needs. The tide was out revealing a shallow bay that makes kayak entry easy. The park seems popular on a sunny Sunday, but not crowded. We passed a bunch of camping on the way in, I don't know how that is yet.

Andrew Rosen

Nice anchorage in the South Sound with mooring balls

Sandie Holt

Awesome weekend came by boat anchored and explored

Kenzie Uhde

Amazing time as always clean parks friendly people beautiful weather

Aubrey Wallace

Awesome place for clamming and getting oysrers!

Herb Nesbitt

Great place to camp and play in Puget Sound.

Samantha Nichols

AMAIZING place to call really clean and quiet. They have nice bathrooms with showers that run on the token system. I would have given five stars but it is SO expensive to camp there it is anywhere from $30-$45 but if you have more than one vehicle it is an extra $10 every night.

George and Mary Hill

Over priced and showers still aren't working

diana marcoe

So many things to do there

amanda gage

Love this beach! Great camp ground. Fills up quickly. Making reservations in advance is a good idea but there are times when you get lucky depending on the time of year. Affordable prices to camp

Gwendolyn Stence

Lovely and clean. Lots of trails and beach to explore. Spots 18 and 44 are the best imo. 44 is tent only, but 18 is large and close to the bathrooms, enjoy!

T Reed

Had a wonderful camping experience. Camp grounds were well kept and it was very quiet. I would come here again.

Nick Hayes

Penrose is a really cool place. But it was also raining (early spring) so didn't get to see all of it. Super big ling beach though.

Aaron Wilson

The state park part is nice with decent campgrounds but what was really disappointing was the "beach". This was in fact no beach. It seemed terrible and was very rocky. This is NOT a place I would recommend your family.

David Daurelle

Well protected by the trees. Shady and restful.

Holly Smith

Absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! So gorgeous and so secluded!

Richard Tupper

Great place for a picnic, hike, camping, clamming and just all around fun...

Philip Waldenberg

This park is amazing for several reasons. Mainly the views are hard to beat. There is many different fishing seasons for saltwater fishing here. Lots of Oysters to dig! Take the trip to the tip it's about a 15 minute trudge but it's often isolated because people don't want to walk over rocks that far. Worth it. There's lots of Mud and sharp rocks/ shell fish not to mention the really cold water. Keep your socks dry! Bring the boots!

Brian Scott

Great place for dogs!

cheese louise

The park was amazing. Lots of trails to walk. You can walk along the beach and look for shells. The womens restroom was nice. There was a shower that took park tokens, really hot water!! Fire Wood was available, the camp host brought it to our campsite. Lots of brush and plants between the campsite for privacy. I'm definitely going back!

Dennis Tate

Beautiful park, big trees with plenty of shade. Draw back is beaches yucky, slimy and covered with ugly rocks and broken shells

Sid Bendico

Good place to visit

Ryan Link

Lots to see and the kids had a blast! No phones or tablets just nature and exploring the bottom of the sound.
