REVIEWS OF Kitsap Memorial State Park IN Washington

Darrick Kinney

This a great park with rv parking, cabins, plenty of open space and beach access. Plenty of parking as well as a nice tent camping area. Too many other amenities to list but this is a great Washington park.

Jason Jerome

Found a spot here for a last-minute RV camping spot. The spots are very tight - very close to one another. The on-site rental cabins look like a much better experience. The bathrooms are individual rooms, and clean enough. The park itself has a decent sized playground, and access to the beach. The site is close driving distance to a number of good places to eat. We had a lot of fun just heading down to Liberty Bay Waterfront Park to grab dinner and play in the park. The Central Market (grocery store), is very big.

Beautiful place!! My daughter got married there on 6/22/19. Everything went amazingly due to their planning. One suggestion for the venue.. you should put the "Wedding In Progress" sign (about being respectful..) out Before inconsiderate people start walking and playing around through the ceramony area.. the bride, groom, and family and friends worked hard to set up the area. Only issue I witnessed was the man with the clipboard..more than an Hour before we were due to start loading up chairs and other stuff, and getting the place cleaned. 1/2 hour prior..would have been sufficient. We were done and out of there Before checkout time.

So beautiful! So fun! George us trees and ample camping. Bathrooms were a plenty and acess to water easy. Dramatic beautiful views and really nice camp hosts.

Kelsey Thacker

Friendly and courteous Park Ranger. Showers have nice hot water. Grounds well-kept and aesthetically pleasing. Pleasant experience.

Creativity Chrysalis

Beach access, camping, big lodge for events. Great location.

Pamela Soto-Saines

Great place for camping. Next to waterfront and easy RV back in. Bathroom was clean.

Nicole

Discovery Pass Required! Kids playground equipment, access to the water (walk down) and it looks like there is a campground also. We were just there to see the beach for a couple hours but it appeared to be well maintained and monitored by Washington Parks Dept. Great place to stop and easily get down to the water.

K.T.

Great place

Elizabeth Simson

Nice place to stop for a picnic lunch. Great playground and very clean camp sites. They also have cabins.

Kelley VanDyke

Scenic. Fun for kids to find eels, hermit crabs, crabs... they could have stayed all day. Cute park with swings, playground equipment and bathroom facilities.

Dayna Killam

Very nice grounds. Make sure you have a discovery pass.

Russ Roush

Tight RV sites, but on a side street, so very quiet and relaxing. Playground and day use far enough away that it doesn't interfere with campers. Access to beach.

Michael Buehler

RV spots are pretty small, with not much of any privacy. Outside of that, a great place!

Hal Everett

This park has a beautiful waterfront setting. There are picnic areas and game fields. There is ample camping for both tents and RVs.

James Pickett

Went camping on a Saturday night at end of spring. Was crowded, to be expected. Nice place, very pretty. -1

Great Herb Supply

d Pratt

Beautiful park, cabins were well kept

Eliza Davenport

Clean park and camping sites, the only bad thing is the showers. Very gross, smells bad and half has problems

charlene hiquiana

This site actually more of like for glamping, bringing your own supplies. bathroom is not that far if you need to use it. Somehow looks like a safe place to let the kids play around on the grass; play with balls, frisbee, run to workout the next morning, have your dogs run too. Also a spot for the kids to play at the park. Water is not actually for you can swim, I found out you can go clamming but it has that stagnant water smell so sort of hesitant not to pick clams. This is actually also a place for RV camping.

Carmen Miller

A great park and clean bathrooms. Good views and waterfront access for paddle boarding or kayaking. There are cabins to rent and picnic tables, tons of camping spots. Apparently this is a really popular wedding venue. The trails were more like a casual stroll than a hike but maybe we just didn't find them. A discover pass is required for this park just fyi. Kid and dog friendly, lots of parking. We will definitely be coming back! #MilitaryWild #MilitarywildWA #PawsForHadrian #AutismFam #DiscoverPass

Justin Shopper

If you have kids this is the perfect park for them, play gyms and large grassy area. The beach is filled with crabs under rocks and hermit crabs so it is perfect for the Marine biologist in us all. Quite a small beach however quite charming would recommend a visit.

Jeannie Anderson

Beautiful and clean. But could not access the beach too steep.

scott ellestad

A great park with toys for the kids, and an extensive beach.

Craig Olsen

Most disappointing state park I've been to, came in by boat because the web site said it had mooring bouys, it had one approximately 20' from shore at low tide and it looked like it could use some maintenance . Needless to say we moved on.

Alice B.

I went to the beach at low tide with my beach naturalist training group. This is an awesome place for exploring intertidal creatures! Bring you field guide and a magnifying glass.

Jacob Hubbell

Had a fun glamping trip with my friends here for a meteor shower. Stayed in one of the cabins. Our cabin was clean and comfortable and well maintained with a bunk bed and a fold out sofa, also furnished with a small dining room table and fridge and microwave. We cooked ourselves some food on our grill and ate under the stars at our own picnic table.

Shelene Cartwright

Beautiful setting!!!!

Jacqueline Reyes

So serene if you need to get away but can't travel far go here

James Russell

The ranger here is a no none sense of a person what that means is you and your family are well taken care of.the park is one of the best to camp at

Clemens Miersch

This is a very nice and clean place. Our cabin was great for our weekend vacation. The bathrooms were fairly clean for the amount of people using them evry day. I only recommend staying here, watching the sunset while making s'mores is just great.

David Lorengo

Great for a quick stop near the Hood Canal bridge.

Denyl Linville

Beautiful and clean Park

TAMI Graham

Nice quiet place to camp and enjoy. You can walk to the beach and there is a playground for the kids. There are very nice cabins to rent that have a double bed and a bunk bed and a fridge and microwave

Tim Gerling

Beautiful views and wonderful camping.

JonDee Stoner

We camped here in a cabin. Nice and clean, clean restrooms. Nice beach area, great views. Kids loved the park. Good prices too.

Bob Karp

I have always liked this place. this park is unusual for kitsap, in that the open area/field is surrounded by giant trees. effectively creating a very secluded, middle of nowhere feel. it's gets a demerit because there are no water fountains. I drank out of the dog dish filler.

Adam Peterson

Warning: late check-in policy for cabins is different than other parks! Was locked out of cabin, no host or ranger on site. Cabin did not have kitchenette as advertised. Rented a cabin and arrived later in the evening due to some delays. Was locked out of the cabin. Every other park either leaves the key code in small mailbox by the door or leaves the door unlocked and keys inside the cabin - I've been to most cabins in the state park system and they've all had the same system. Camp host was absent (despite incorrect signage at entrance kiosk that led us to knock on some camper's RV who were not camp hosts). No camp ranger on site either. Had to grab a hotel at considerable expense and didn't get to room until near midnight. Cabin was also advertised as having a kitchenette. From what I could see through the window, the "kitchenette" was simply a mini-fridge with a microwave on it, not cupboards and a sink like other cabins advertised as having kitchenettes have.

Julie Sanford

Had a friends wedding there. Lodge was nice for reception and people that stayed in the cabins had a good time.

Daniel Peters

Wonderful park, perfect for a wedding. Very beautiful, and yet I know we only saw a small part of the park. Glad we made the trip from Oklahoma.

Philip Leder

Crabs under every rock!

Celia Winingham

The rv sites where the smallest I've ever seen in the Wa State parks. Picnic tables sat next to next sites sewer. Gross! Rest of the park was nice with beach access.

Duncan Rose

Beautiful

Joseph Rhoades

Nice quite (this time of year) seemed to be some people living there. If you go you want space 18 it's the best and largest

Melissa Tucker

Had a spectacular wedding here mid-October :) Our friends and family from out of town were amazed by the beauty this place brings. It was a magical evening that we will never forget! Park Specialist Brenna assisted us on rental equipment, and made sure details went smoothly! We even coordinated 2 taco trucks to serve on site at the Log Hall! Our guests were well satisfied. Thank you very much, Kitsap Memorial State Park!!!!

Jen H.

My best friend had her wedding at the log cabin building in the park. Beautiful venue and was able to make a quick change to indoors when weather became an issue. Helpful staff

Degale Cooper

Great cabins with small microwave and refrigerator. Nice large open field with play structure.

Kayley Driggers

I photographed an engagement session there and the sunset was grand. Beautiful views, parking lot, clean park, bathrooms available, access to the waterfront via downhill gravel path) and a sweet cabin available for events! Not much room to sit during high-tide, but we made it work. Would love to go back sometime soon!

Boddy Poirier

Beautiful, well maintained state park

Janet Hand

We went for a ride. Ended up at the park. There is camping, some cabins and a new, very nice playground. It requires a $10 fee or a state park pass.

Tammie Morse

Beautiful park. Not enough large rv sites though

Theresa Banks

We had spot 6 reserved but drove out to check out the campground before actually towing our camper out. SO glad we did. I have photos and if what are you are looking for is a party grounds where your table is right next to the sewer line of the camper next to you, this is your place. If you want to be out 'camping' and get some peace and quiet NO GO. The spots are right next to each other NOTHING between your spot and those on the right and left except power, sewer and water. Now spot 18 isn't bad and Spot 39 (camp host) is EXCELLENT. AND if you wanted to tent camp they have beautiful spots. The park is great, the beach is rocky and pretty.

Alex Conor

Nice place. It's improved a lot.

Lunker Luke

Small quite green space Mostly natural, tasteful, respectful, Memorial... just my humble opinion, thoughts and insight on the park.

Kiersten George

I love this park!

Eric A

We enjoyed camping for 2 night. This park is good for camping. We was able to see a lots of stars night time.

Garrett Fife

Awesome cabins and very friendly camp host!

Pati Lindsay

Lovely wedding attended here! The grounds were very clean, the bathrooms and showers were in order, and the group campsite was the best for all of us attendees, the bride and groom included! And what a beautiful sunset watching at the pavilion.

Larry Brooke

A great location to camp and explore the beach.

Samuel Rasmussen

Pleasant afternoon with the kids. Wish the playground had better swings but that was our only complaint! It was nice getting down to the water line on Hood Canal searching for crab under the rocks. Will definitely be back and would consider recommending for someone visiting for a place to stay.

S P

Decent playground. Vies are special, Can rent a covered pavilion, quite spacious.

Rick Clayton

We are a mile off the hiway 3 and it fells like a different world here. NO noises. NO loud people. Peaceful, just us and the surf. All smiles.

daniboudler

Very pleasant park with nice playground and access to the water.

Aaron Turner

Excellent hiker/biker sites. I've been coming to this park my whole life and is a favorite place of mine.

World Explorer Cycling Nomad

Beautiful place to watch the sun set

Jonathan Halldorson

Nice location with beach and forest locales. Camp sites are pretty small to accommodate a couple campers. Parking available with discovery or day pass.

Deana Jennings

Had lunch & played with my mom & granddaughter.

Mikayla Dupré

The most beautiful place. My husband & I just got married here this August, and it couldn't have been a more perfect wedding in the Pacific Northwest. The park rangers are extremely helpful when it comes to your wedding, and honestly go above and beyond their job descriptions. Just make sure you get your wedding date as soon as possible, because it fills up very quickly! Once you visit there you'll see why!

marc lare

BEAUTIFUL!!

Brian

Small park but a nice place to stop and enjoy the views. Has campground for RVs, tents, and bikers. Also cabins and shelters to reserve for events. Horseshoe pits available!

Kedar Gosavi

Fantastic, has all basic necessities covered. Camping space, grills installed, morning shower.... Wonderful and Safe place to camp

Meredith Mosley

Sweet little Poulsbo gem. Park is easy to navigate, well maintained and clean, playground is up to date, and at the very back of the park is a small path down to the water for some amazing views.

Emily Senchyna

I've camped here and got married here and I'm so impressed. It's a state park so it's incredibly lovely and well kept. Getting married here was incredible. We had a 60 person wedding that ended right at their quiet hours and it was perfect. This is not a place to have a raging party. It's perfect if you love and respect state parks and want something budget friendly, beautiful, and low key. Getting married outside but under cover (because, ya know, pacific northwest rain) was gorgeous and hanging out in the log building at night was awesome. The park was clean and beautiful and was it great fun camping there afterwards. If you get married here, I highly suggest you stay overnight in the cabin next to the log pavilion. It's super cute and a nice place to shower and get ready. Pics included of the cabin since I know that was the hardest thing to find pictures of when I was researching this place. Edit: other important details if you're looking into this as a wedding venue: most important thing is booking. When we did it, their policy was that they opened for booking at 6am on the first day of the month you want to book for the next year. So, for example, if you want to book for June 15th 2019 you have to be there in person on June 1st 2018. They won't do it over the phone or via email, no exceptions. My husband and my dad are amazing and camped outside the night before since I couldn't. I thought it might be overkill but lots of other couples camped out overnight too! It was the craziest part of the whole experience but everything after that was easy, breezey, lowkey. Our families helped cleanup and the rangers were there for any questions we had, but they mostly left us alone. We had a great time there.

Linda Phillips

Great park, beautiful setting with access to the sound! Kayaking from the park we saw sea lion cubs. Pretty sunsets each night and beautiful weather.

Rebecca Lare

Its beautiful!

M DW

You can hear the highway, so camping isn't all that great. Nice day spot

Sabra Grindel

Beautiful, clean park with beach access. There are two covered areas that you can reserve. One is open area and the other has 4 picnic tables, 2 small grills, 2 large grills and 2 large wood bbq/cook stoves with a water source as well. Fairly clean bathrooms, cabins to rent, and plenty of picnic tables throughout the park. There is also a very large banquet type room. We walked down to the beach and hunted for some rocks and seashells which was nice. It is a slightly steep gravel walk with about 5 to 10 steps at the end. Discovery pass needed, but fee can be paid at park. Really enjoyed our visit today.

Elyse Snelson

Campground was very full on a sunny day, but the beach was quiet and the views lovely.

John Conn

Great park. Nice beach with clams and oysters. The camp grounds are clean. Picnic area is nice with a play ground and a large field for sports.

Camber Grant

There isn't much parking but the view of the water, the trees, and the little cabins are so cute! If you're out in the area this is a great place to hang out at all day even. Kids will love it too!

David Yi

Nice place for family camping and seaside acting and winderful view

Nitin Gupta

One of the best camp site ! Helpful staff, great location , clean washrooms and spectacular views!

Joey Cash

Gorgeous park, nice clean spot.

Michael C

Nice little park. Nice pirate themed playhouse for kids. Reports of Heroin addicts using area to stage their RVs.

Sarah Michel

Nice park

Eric Haller

Fantastic Little Gem. Even though all the regular campsites were spoken for, they have three bivouac sites for hikers or bikers That are on a first come first serve basis. I like that you can take a 3-minute shower here for $0.50. you have to buy the park tokens though. lots of shade from the big evergreen trees, and a nice breeze from the water. Nice big fields to roam around and play in. Lots of tables and barbecue pits.

Adam E.

Good park, parking is a little pricey

Josh Niemi

The camping is very close together but the park has a nice for of the Olympics from the waterfront walkway

Rich Kimmi Kruzner

Enjoyed the day area while we celebrated our grandson's birthday.

Bob de Vries

What a great park is this! We were here with an RV and had a great time! The host was great and it was not that expensive to stay for one night. Really recommend to go here and walk around the park that has a amazing view around!

Tristin jones

Its nice great water views best for a chill relaxing kinda walking around

Graham Hatch

Good Olympic views from the beach. Low tide lots of tide pools.

Luke B

The park itself is nice. The campground is not. The campground is too small and cramped to be comfortable. It tends to be very noisy at night.

Joseph Fagg

Scenic beauty and a cozy little spot in the woods!

Justin Anderson

If you are arrived by car and the campsite is full get turned away but if you arrive under your own power and the primitive sites are full they don't turn you away... At least that's my experience. The restrooms were very clean. The showers were nice and warm. $1 will get you about 6 minutes of hot water. A great place to stop before heading across the bridge to the Olympic peninsula. A great place for bicycle camping and plenty of trees if you intend to use a hammock

Chris Ericsson

Its a nice Urban campground. Its a mostly quit Weekday. Were the local comunity seems to camp out. Clean bathrooms. Cheeper then a hotel.

Blake Swenson

Beautiful secluded campgrounds, most fairly private and individually separated by thick forest, we got in about 830pm, paid 20$ for a site with a fire pit and table and woke up to see the Puget Sound not far from our site! Would definitely return

Tim McGruder

Great spot for a quick nap. Don't forget to bring your Discovery Pass though.

Kristi Grinnell

Gorgeous place for a wedding! Parking passes required but they have a machine to buy one here, $10/day.

Aymeric & Claire

Three hiker-biker sites and I guess there is enough place around to accommodate more if there is a rush. 12 dollar/night. 50cent/shower. Clean and close toilets. Wooded site. Background noise of the highway but not that bad. Access to beach. Nice inexpensive café just at the entrance of the park!

Dean Sirvin

Full hookups,but sites are small

Jeffrey Gardner

I've never caught a fish here but the lake.is big if you have a bigger boat.

deborah housen

Lovely place for an event or just picnicking. Beach, playground equipment, ciukd have spent the day here.

Ben McGann

Great camping area!!

Beverly Measor

We were visiting someone camping there. The park setting is beautiful- seems like an older park. The RV section is small with limited sites. Could use upgrades.

Diony Rouse

Nice park with beach access. Discovery pass required! $10 for a day pass. The playground is quite nice with some unique pieces to the play structures. It's shaded by huge fir trees in the afternoon, which is wonderful on a hot day. Lots of picnic tables. The walk down to the beach is a steep, gravel path but there's a decent handrail. We didn't care much for the beach because it was very rocky, more than just the usual flat stones. It smells strongly of seaweed and there was a bit of trash scattered about. Beautiful view of the Olympics, though.

Denise Judd

The park is not bad. If you want a walk on level ground that is easy to conquer this might be the right fit for you. There is an excellent children's play lot with lots of obstacles for them to climb all over. There is beach access very near the tot lot. There is a large grass area that is flexible. They have an enormous hall that can be reserved that has a water view, and another structure which is open with an ocean view. There are campsites, and a small cabin that can be reserved for short visits. When I was there there were two reasons why I do not give it a better score; there was construction work being conducted on two sides which I am sure could not be avoided. But the. Other reason could certainly be avoided! At 3:50 PM the ranger on duty began to yell in an unseemly way that everyone needed to get out because he was locking up. I imagine the residents in homes nearby could do without him.

dale kim

This camp site has awesome fire pits! The bathroom and shower were super clean and convenient and staying here was super comfortable. It's oddly pretty quiet and dark at night even with other campers scattered around the park. Radio reception is intermittent, but the grounds were well kept for. Perfect for a road trip camp spot!

George SMythe

Sites are small. Very low water pressure. Park is clean, well kept.

Mary Manion

My son got married here it was wonderful

seamus walker

Great place to stay! Awesome for kids. Playground and fields. Horse shoe pits. Beautiful views and beach. Lovely trails through the woods. Clean and well taken care of camp ground. Day use or over night stay

Mustang X3

Typical state park... cramped camping

Sue Christensen

Great stop just after east end of Hood Canal Bridge.

Henry

Fun park with beach, playground, wide open spaces and rentable structures. I attended a wedding in the big building about a million years ago and it is rustic but nice. At low tide, beach is full of life- seaweeds, snails, crabs, + + +. Restrooms sparsely equipped but clean when I was there. Plenty of parking. You need a Discover Pass for this place and they ticket, so don't forget to hang it on the mirror of your car.
