REVIEWS OF Kanaskat-Palmer State Park IN Washington

Excellent place to go to get away and get lost in nature

Morgan Thornton

It's nice to be able to go to a campground that has multiple very clean showers & individual bathroom facilities. Not to mention, right down the road is a beautiful natural spring with several hoses running from it for people to fill up their containers all for a donation of your choosing. Super cool!!!

Candace Glenn Bradford

I dunno my black water here when heading to Chinook pass. Nice staff, helpful rangers and great facility

Douglas Lannom

One of my go-to daily walks. Beautiful views and the staff does a great job of trail maintenance.

Millecent Thompson

We enjoy Mother's Day here each year. My children and grandchildren love all the activities, tubing, fishing, hiking and BBQing.

Jessica Galusha

Wonderful forest and clean new facilities.

Trinity Martinez

Cost to much everything is expensive and the volunteers have really bad attitude. Only one park ranger was nice the other park ranger was trying to make a name for himself. Also the volunteers drive there ATV'S around all day/night there honestly no respect for the nature or wanting to be in peace. That will not happen at this campsite.

Lavinia Tan

Nice and well maintained We only went for a walk not camping but I would definitely camp there.

james airey

Staff are awesome...always courteous and welling to help campers out...

Barry Morgan

Nice private campsites, clean bathrooms, and easy, close, trails galore for kids to explore.

Mike Warren

Easy to navigate and beautiful

Terry Bunn

Love! Trees, the smell of good wood smoke from local homes fireplaces. The trains go by real america!

DOY DIAMOND

This is a hidden gem that shines for the locals. Great Outdoors, for picnics and family oriented events.

Shannon Ellis

Beautiful state park along the green river and so close to home! Makes taking kids camping easy. The campsites are closer enough to hear your neighbors when they are loud but far enough so you have a little privacy.

Jeff Ball

Really tight fit for 5th wheels in the lower rate sites but a nice place.

Jennie Saks

It was one of the nicest state parks we've been at. Beautiful spacious clean campgrounds and restrooms with hot water showers .

Jessica Smith

Lots of swimming holes. Family friendly

Jil Kroupa

Wonderful yurts! Well kept campgrounds. Clean restrooms.

Carl Sgambelluri

Pretty cool state park.

C Schreiber

Beautiful place, large space between sites BUT we reserved an "RV space w/hookups". When we arrived we found out that meant electricity only, no water, no sewer. This is common with state park websites, they can be really difficult to figure out specifically what's offered and what's not. Our site was terribly uneven and nowhere near long enough to "pull through". If we pulled through (28' trailer + 20 two vehicle) we would've eliminated the electrical box, dozen boulders and a few trees. Instead we made a 100+ point turn/back in and even then our tow rig ended up 2' into the underbrush. None of this is campgrounds fault, I just wish they were more upfront about everything.

Sharon Pridemore

Kanaskatstate park is so beautiful wonderful pic area fire pit pic tables covered area with power and water river is beautiful I m so thankful for these places to sprend the day.

Jordan Hedlund

If you're looking for a serene camping experience, DON'T CAMP HERE! There's a railroad very close by and about 6 to 8 trains came by from midnight to 6 am blowing their horns, making our night sleepless. I wish we had known this before camping here.

xriena Brown

Beautiful place

Rich William

It's a nice place but no shower's. They should have been done a month ago and I still have to pay full price.

Jenerfer O

Stayed in the yurts here 3 times this year. Plan on doing again soon. It's inexpensive, but keeps you dry and warm, with their electric heater. We pack up like were about to go camping, but leave the tent behind. My kids love the trails and the walk to the river. I enjoy sitting under our canopy with my husband late into the evening while my boys are safely inside the yurt sleeping in the bunk bed.

marian wright

Good prices during winter time. Summer time can only stay 10 days a mo Dont like that

Athius Maximus Humanitarius

Awesome trails .... beautiful scenery and the fishing wasn't that great but I just don't think it's that time of the season is the trout we caught we're about 3 in Long all in all had an awesome time there and we'll definitely go there again

Daniel Miller

I have camped here in a tent and an RV and both have great spot options! The little bungalows you can rent are kept in great shape and great for families that don't like tents but don't have access to a camper. Everytime I have stayed here there has been an extremely helpful camp host and rangers roaming around checking in in the campers... Kanaskat-Palmer is equally accommodating to people planning day trips. There are great day camp sites and river access. Overall this is one of my favorite western Washington camping locations!

reva Rae

Amazing and beautiful place! We stayed 3 nights here while visiting Seattle and going to the whitewater amphitheater for the Lynard Skynyrd concert! Kanaskat-Palmer State Park is located in the perfect location tho visit most of the things you'll want to visit, and then back to a well maintained park. They accommodate RV's tenting areas and they also have Yert rentals that are at a much lower price range than a hotel in Seattle, with luscious greenery and a fire pit, so what could be better than that!

Evan Hogue

Amazing one the best Parks in Washington in my opinion. Only about a 45 minute drive from Tacoma or about an hour from Seattle easy to get away from the world and take a vacation the river with miles of walking. the people are nice here this is about $20 for a camping spot and $7 per bundle of wood if you stay to camp. Anybody who likes to get out and camp kanaskat Palmer state park is one of my favorite parks and I keep coming here year after year. If you just wanting to go for the day they also have A-day pass available for $10 or if you have a discover pass which is $30 annually you can go to all Washington State parks for that $30 a year. There is a town about a 20 minute drive away so stock up on all your food and everything before you come in.

Diana Skye

I've been coming here for years. It's a fun place to take my Sevylor kayak for a run. I like that it's got picnic facilities as well as an accessible quiet spot downstream for fishing or swimming.

Rose Donner

So pretty here, short walking trails nice for families, many places to leave the trail and visit the river.

Tammie Barker

Been coming here for years and the rangers have always been helpful and friendly. We camp, picnic, BBQ and cool off by the water. Can get busy but if used responsibly, it's a wonderful place to be.

Hannah Gardner

We stayed here for 2 days in early April 2018. It is a beautiful park - so green and easy access to the river and the towns nearby. We paid $25/day with a $5 non-resident fee and an $8 online reservation fee. They have back-in and pull-thru sites with 30 amp electricity. It was extremely rainy when we stayed and although the site was asphalt, it was not level at all and we had a pool of water in front of our door the entire time. The bathrooms were individual rooms with a toilet and shower and were very clean. It looked like the showers were set up to accept quarters at some point but they were still free when we were there. They were warm, but the water stream was pretty weak. I'm sure this campground would be wonderful in warmer/drier weather!

Luke Portch

We love camping and this park is just a great location for us. However, the RV sites do not have full hookups. For the price you pay at WA State Parks you should expect at least power and water. No water here. They have a waste dump on the way out, and you can fill on water here if you forgot before leaving the house. The campground itself is very nice. Lots of trees that provide privacy, fire pits and picnic tables at each site. Trails lead to the central bathrooms (showers with tokens) and pay station. Dumpsters are available in close proximity no matter where you camp. My wife, kids and I walked down to the river and found a nice spot to sit and let the kids play. The river is deep enough in one area to jump off a small rock (6ft) into the water. The current can be quick though, so watch the little ones. Overall we really enjoy this place.

Jason Robar

A hidden little gem of a state park that is easy to get to from Maple Valley or Covington. The parking lots for a day visit are less than 5 minutes walk from the river that have easy access to the river unless you need walking assistance (no wheelchair or other access). The river is quite deep just a few feet from the shore so it isn't safe for toddlers, but strong swimmers can enjoy the river as well as those prepared for the rapids in higher water flow seasons (varies from Class 2 to 4). The picnic areas have a few covered shelters and one area has bathrooms that were well maintained.

Robert Rowe

Good place to camp

Katie Letson

This is a gorgeous place to go anytime. They have yurts you can rent and day camp or overnight camping. Trails and wildlife. I will go many more times

Forest Barker

No bums and no pot\ drunks here today.

Conner Lund

Always a great experience

EMXDOOM

Fun place to hang out and have a Picnic by the water. You can also walk around the river bend and watch people come down the river in rafts. Seems to have good parking and the lot never gets that full.

John Crevling

A great place to bring the family and spend the afternoon playing in the water and enjoying the scenery

Leona Xharra

Incredible amazing experience! This place has a stunning beauty of the nature. Strongly recommend to visit it !

JoAnne Slaybaugh

Lots of quiet trail walks in the fall. Pleasant surprise to see the salmon spawning up the Green River.

Brian Jones

A must see in the green river gorge

Millecent Mae

Been coming here over ten years. I have never had a bad experience. So much fun.

Bryce Owings

Beautiful

Dawn Caffrey

Took my molly there she passed away 7-8-19 she loved parks. This was also mine and my boyfriend's first time.

Auction Hustle

Took the littles on their first camping trip. Rented sma Yurt. Very clean facility and great caregiver/Caretaker of the camping grounds!

Jeremy Taylor

Very nice park and the shelter are great to have a party at

Rob Russell

Facilities were very well kept

MIA HILL

I love this place

Shellie Mendez

Large parking lot, open eating/bbqing area with cover and fire pit. We didn't explore the entire place, but 2 trails at the parking lot and it was so beautiful. Worth the hour drive it took us to get there, will definitely visit again. There was a few small areas where young kids could play safely in the water, but this is the Green River, so definitely recommend having life jackets on kids at all times.

Simone Menier

I use this park to walk a 3 mile loop trail that's relatively flat, but winding and pretty. For that purpose, it's excellent. On a nice Saturday in late June 2019, when the campgrounds were filled, it was nonetheless pretty quiet (from 7 to 9 PM).

Mike Codd

Beautiful, well kept park. Great hiking along river.

Destiny Frost

Beautiful place I love it and cant wait to go back.

Rachel Berry

The air raid siren that went off at midnight and the freight trains didn't help but otherwise a nice campground

Ryan Rentfro

Beautiful ❤️. Scenic and serene.

Judy Smith

No one checked on us. Rain flooded the fire pit. Bathrooms dirty.

judy corbett

Wonderful! Right mixture of rain and just comfortable cloud cover. (Thanks to those who put in an order for that.) Quiet. Just the right proportion of racoons to people. Only a few grizzlies. (Ha! Just joking!). VERY WELL maintained!!!! Thanks for a rejuvenating healing time!

Mark Foltz

RV camping focused state park on the Green River. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful and nature focused experience, this may not be your best option. I was there during a summer weekend: lots of car/RV traffic, loud group camps, and closely spaced sites meant lots of noise and not much privacy. On the positive side, there is easy river access, the bathrooms include showers and were clean, and the camp hosts were great.

Michael Hoel

It is nice peaceful sunset campers chilln

Lynn Rohlfs

Along the Green River. Great trails and parking. Requires a Discover Pass. Nice and peaceful.

Edward Bellack

I was never there I just drove by

Dean Sevigny

Real nice park!

Shane Lester

Nice park. Nice campsites, with the river close by to walk down to. Nice spot to jump into the river or fish. Just a warning. There is a very loud alarm that will sound off some nights, its a siren for the volunteer firefighters. Also our first night we had raccoons walking around our tent and that was fun to listen to them.

Dave Stearns

Loved camping here

Peter Galando

Great park buried deep in the green river gorge. camping, hiking, biking, and fishing year round. River gets crowded with swimmers, rafters and cliff jumpers during hot summer days but usually can find quieter spots for fishing. Access down river from the park into the green river conservation area is possible with some bushwacking or floating.

Angel q

It has amasing views and trails to wonder in and the smell of fresh air they are also very nice and there is camping areas that can fit tents and extra things I would recommend this to people and they dont alow charcoal only certain thing to make a barbaque or a fire

Donald Wilson

Been going off and on for ten years fishing or picnicking it's a ways out but worth the time

Jennifer Pallace

Beautiful park my five year old loved the trails

Scott Stackhouse

awesome place to go

Mary Locatelli

Perfect place for a GISH surprise Fairy Party! While here for the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt (GISH) I noticed it is a beautiful park for hanging out by the river and walking paths! Will be back for sure!

Shevelle Chapman

We have been here twice and plan to go back this summer. Absolutely beautiful.

Allen Pearson

The yurts were super nice. Very pleasant stay!

Cody Flynn

I love this park it is gorgeous and usually not very busy!

Ryanne Jones

Not bad at all, but don't arrive after dusk. The website says 8, but that's a lie. Call ahead to find out when they think dusk is, because it was before sunset for us. Also, the host is at site 31, and seems to turn off lights before 7:30pm in Autumn. Knock anyway to get your yurt code. The yurts are decently clean, though the floor could use a mop. Dumpster pickup is around 9am on Friday; don't be alarmed by the noise. The campground itself is beautiful, and it was awesome watching the salmon swim upstream to spawn. I wish we had a bit more time to explore the river. A 2 night stay wasn't enough.

K9'S 10

So beautifull

edythe kool

Loved how clean and well maintained it is

Bryan Zandi

Contrary to so many other campsites, this park has the roomiest and most spacious a campgrounds. The distance between sites is far enough to give the campers a good privacy. Bathrooms are neat and all have hot water showers with adequate ventilation. Park rangers are polite and extremely helpful. The location is in the vicinity of a town so access to local stores also is one of perks of this park.

John Enyeart

Whether it's a sunshiny motorcycle ride, or a rainy Sunday drive... This area is full of beautiful scenery, 2 state parks (Kanaskat-Palmer, Nolte State Park), City Hall Saloon Pub & Eatery, hiking trails, mountain bike trails peace and serenity. Pacific Northwest back roads at its best !

Kevin Lidtka

This is a decent campground if this is your kind of thing. There are lots of trees which help. I like primitive camping so places like these are too crowded for me. There always is barking dogs, rv generators, people smoking and staying up too late laughing. They are super picky about how and where you park your cars. A discovery pass is required so tell your guests or they are stuck paying 10 bucks even if they are just stopping by for dinner. You will want to reserve a spot months in advance here.

Gary Medeiros

Very tranquil and the sound of the river was so relaxing.

Lance Vett

Beautiful and quiet

Sly Fox

More like real camping and way out in the woods....has RV power hookups, but no water per site. You have to fill up at stations around the park.....but out far enough to see all the starsa d a fairly quiet place....love it!

Valerie Simpson

Love this park!

Greg Taylor

The yurts are really cool. There is a bunk bed, large couch, electrical outlets, heater and small table. Great option if you're arriving late and don't want to set up tents in the dark/rain. We went in the fall and it wasn't very busy, besides a few campgrounds occupied. Showers and washrooms are clean and well kept.

Dave Derington

We love this park. So close to Seattle. Beautiful river vistas. Really clean too!

Tim Evans

Beautiful place. Rangers are a-holes. Unreasonable power abusing individuals. Been to alot of similar places and bee treated much better.

Aleksandr Krohmal

I love

George E

It's a Beautiful place and very Serene. I love the outdoors...

Casey Moran

Hardly any bugs

Lyndall Canter

Tad expensive for no services.

Sean Forrest

Overused. But nice

Trevor Dilley

This is a very cool camping spot. I went here last weekend for a company camping trip. We had the group site which was very large and had lots of space for us. I loved going for the walk around the park and being next to the green river. There was a very cool sandy beach area in the group camp area. The only real complaint was that there are coal trains that drive by every hour on the hour at night and blast their horns five or so times when passing the area. So if you do come make sure to bring some ear plugs for sleeping.

Melanie Goodman

Pleasantly surprised by this place. Restrooms and showers were clean. Campsites were nice and clean. The yurts were really cool. Didn't have a chance to go to the river though but heard it was a nice area.

Elizabeth Norman

I love this place ! The beauty is rainforest breathtaking. I would give five star. But they add a ten dollar charge per day for an extra car. I think if two cars fit the assigned parking space . Well should it cost extra?

Maxius Davis

Beautiful place, the group site is fantastic, and the rangers are really nice

Jarbo Dilli

Easy to get to

Jonathan Kowalski

Excellent facilities, move camp ground with decent cover. Will splash some mud during heavy rains, as there aren't gravel pads for tents, but overall great.

Just_Bob

Camp sites are quite close and only one building to use the restroom. The rangers were very friendly and informitive

Amit Kulkarni

Discover Pass needed. Very nice park for BBQ, River access is good and trails are good. Multiple canopies available. Can overstay for camping also.

Wendie Knight

Would have been more peaceful sleeping in an elementary school playground. I guess it is a nice place for everyone to let their kids run free screaming like they're being killed. If that's what you're looking for. Sites are close, I could see what they were cooking on their stove, and vice versa. RVs, it is TIGHT to maneuver thru the park. Tight!!! Thought itd be a good camping spot close to home, reserved 2 nights for $88, and I just left after my first night. In fact, I got up at 1030pm to pack all my stuff except tent. Will not return, dont reccomend if you are looking for a restful time.

Bill Wooding

Great place, beautiful scenery, nice trails, clean showers and bathrooms. Keep your food in your vehicle at night or you might find the raccoons or other critters invading your camp. Gave it a four star only because of the occasional loud group camp sites, everything else is five *.

Timothy Andersen

Great small park, take a short walk down to the river. It feels like you are a long way from big towns but it is not far away. Good day park, so check it out. .

Rachel Eastonuu I 8

Great spots on the river to spend the day in the sun. Crawdads are in the rocks and my young son and I enjoy finding them.

Shelley Hall

Salmon spawning

Brian Burfoot

I haven't stayed there yet because its always booked up, so it must be pretty nice.

SiDDiE SiD

Great park for hanging out by the river. Not a lot of people so easy for not intruding on others...

Cheryl Brothers

I grew up here its an awesome place to be

milo perrotti

This place was great, nice grass the shelter we reserved was clean and in great shape. The bathroom was clean but only had could water. You need a discovery pass to enter or pay $10. Been here a few times and will continue to come here and enjoy the park.

Judi Hetherington

It is great place. Sites we were at were nice size. I was able to put a large tent up with lots of room to spare. The restrooms and showers were spotless. Look forward to going back soon.

Mike Mundt

I'd give it 5 stars, but the park service sucks about opening up spots that were reserved and canceled. Lately we see almost 20% of the sites empty, but "reserved" all weekend with nobody in them.

Mark Richards

A great place to stay. Well up kept and kept clean. New facilities coming soon in areas of the park

Dan Duvall

Had a great time at the group camping site. Hiked along the river and saw spawning salmon. Kids had a great time skipping rocks and building a campfire.

Kyle Kern

Close getaway with a secluded feel, nice walking / biking trails. Just be aware phone / data non existent must travel to entrance of park if any phone call need to be made.

Daniel McCorkendale

Beautiful RV camping with power plug in. Beautiful woods. We love the NW experience in this park there are trails to the Green River and pic nic areas every where.

Cheryl Reilly

We like to swim in the river. That's about all there is to do.

Mitch Kamppi

Dry camping but had a great time

Kyle Yee

Very nice state park. They have many camp sites and alot of picnic areas around the park. It's located along the Green River.

Daria Borntrager

The campsites were nicely wooded for privacy and a more than adequate size. The bathrooms were CLEAN! Nice.

Kylie Ochsner

Beautiful park, lots of trails, swimming spots, camping ect. Discover pass is required or it is a $10 a day pass.

Joe Miller

Always a peaceful place, clean restrooms, lots of picnicking spots, rivers close by, hiking trails

Jenni Denison

Campsites are spacious and pretty private. The bathrooms are updated!! The trails are fabulous and the river bitchin!! It was fun to watch the white water kayakers! This was our first time here, we WILL definately be back! Thank you!

Cassie A

We love it here

David Van Sickle

A beautiful place but the river is to gnarly where it runs through the park. It's dangerous to try to fish in or play in tell your limited in what you can do there. And they require extra parking passes to park there.when I was young all the state parks were full of people having fun and enjoying the open space but ever since they started charging all these extra fees here and there and just basically taking as much money as they can nobody goes out and enjoys the parks anymore including myself cuz they can't afford it and don't feel that they should have to pay so much money when they only go once every 5 years be basically because of the money issue so it's a real shame if I could afford to I would volunteer and worked for the upkeep in the Parks so people can still enjoy them.I've had a lot of special memories around these state parks surrounding the Covington area and it's a shame to think that in my mind they seem like a thing of the past even though they're still right there and I could go pretty much anytime I want to just can't afford to.

Kyle Givogre

Swimming holes, mellow rapids for small floats and good spots along the banks

Grill’n Millen

Great place to camp and get a NW experience with access to water

Lenna Southland

Our favorite State campground... Great hiking trails within the circle of campsites (perfect for the kids to play on, especially if you give them walkie talkies!), and down to the gorgeous Green River. Fully wooded spacious camp sites. It feels totally isolated but it's close to everything.

Mellisa Olds

It was our first time, we were at the day use area and loved it! We will definitely go back!

Amy Lynn Stenson

Good camping spot, little over priced

Nicole Mygatt

This was a super fun park for mother's day! It was surprisingly not busy until nearly 2:00. Dog-friendly, with bathrooms and tons of picnic tables.

Gemma Graham

A serene, peaceful and easy stroll. Perfect for filling your lungs with fresh air and being outside for a while

Jessica Shortz

Beautiful park with amazing picnic shelters and short trails leading down to the Green River, which is lovely to walk along. My favourite park in the Seattle area.

Sean Keenan

The yurts are well taken care of and group site was great. Boy Scouts we're maintaining trail to keep things nice. So glad to see that

Bob Fischer

Quiet, more outdoorsy camping away from city lights and noise

Ramah Willams

I had my August 5th 2017 wedding here. It was so beautiful how we set it up. We rented the kanaskat kitchen sheltter for $125. Guests said it was the most beautiful wedding they've been to. Very nice staff and park rangers.

Jeanne Rudolph

Love this park!

Zeus Union

I love it out there

Marla Benjamin

The on-site manager, Scottie, is wonderful! She's really nice and very friendly. She even went out of her way to help me with a couple things. It's a beautiful campground, & it's extremely well-maintained, with the most immaculate public restrooms I've ever seen.

Douglas Waldron

Nice place. enjoyed the night camping.

Kevin Nelson

A nice mild hike and nice place to photograph.

Jim Taylor

One of my new favorite campgrounds. Green and lush. Relatively private sites. Electric hookups if you need them, although you have to carry water. Surrounded by a river that's perfect for foot soaking, rock hopping, and stone skipping. Excellent, clean restrooms, each with an en-suite shower.

Garrett McLarty

Awesome place for family and kids. Camping here is peaceful with river access that is quiet. Yurts, RV,group and individual sites available. Support your state parks.

Ben Ethier

Great place to camp. The green river is gorgeous!

Rebecca Landon

Beautiful.

Nunya Bidness

Holy moley, this place has more singing birds than any place I've ever been to. Of course it's beautiful too. But the singing birds are what set it apart for me.

Richard Friesen

The group campground is great!
