I love this camp.
Beautiful, quiet and a nice stop during a ride!
Clean Cabins and beautiful outdoors, well kept.
Great campground outside of the main season. Close to beach for shellfish harvesting.
Looks nice and buzzing with activities.
Looks nice and clean
Went here just for a day hike. It's pretty. The kid's loved it. The trail runs into little creeks a lot. Cute bridges throughout. We took a wrong turn somewhere, and ended up on the fire route road but it was time the kids were hungry lol. The trees were totally worth it. Maple Valley
A fun place to camp near the river.
Great place to camp
Loved the camp site area cabins were nice. Enjoyed the river near by. Would recommend going camping there.
Lovely park featuring a gorgeous river, amazing salt flats and rejuvenation in the lovely forests full of pacific rhododendrons. Great diversity and plenty of wildlife. The campground is well staffed, clean and has plenty of sites with some privacy. I highly recommend this spot!
Awesome place!.. neat trails and a fun adventure!
River, trails, nice clean sites and restrooms. It's well maintained and beautiful.
Lots to do at this state park, river, trails camping, clamming, never a dull moment. The park is well maintained and staffed, the bathrooms are surprisingly nice and clean, and the wildlife is fun to spot!
Excellent campground. Camping on west side of Hwy 101. Picnic area on east side of 101. Nice bathrooms in picnic area for a quick pit stop. Nice hiking trail called Steam Donkey trail on the camping side.
Add this place to the list of places to go and experience. I've lived in WA for a long time and had never heard of this place until finding it recently on Google Maps. Directions were easy enough. Park on the left hand side and you're there. The "hike" is about 10 minutes max. Not handicap accessible, but my 3 year old managed just fine. Skye made it back in one piece too. Well worth the drive. Bring a picnic and good camera. According to the locals, when the rains hit, it's another story altogether. Don't turn this place into a trap and do pack out any trash you bring with you. Keep it special. Keep it clean.
Been going here for an annual family trip for years.
When we were there at the end of September, the salmon were spawning. Amazing sight.
Lots of elk, walking trails and very beautiful.
A. Great place exploring and rural camping. Hiking galore . Miles of entertainment for the mind
Paid for a "premium" site....yet had no trees, very exposed with people walking through and kids riding bikes through. Should have been reduced in price...not increased. Also disappointed there is no senior discount.
Wonderful family hiking and scenery. Nice quiet place to spend a weekend.
Harvested oysters here, it's a beautiful spot.
Love this place. Super chill. My family tries to get out here at least once a year.
Over 60 elk were monopolizing the day use area!
it is well maintained but right on the highway and packed to the gills even the first weekend in November. felt like staying the night in a loud trailer park. oh the poo you will see campground covered from tent to cabin in elk poo but we didn't see any this visit
This is a beautiful park. And looks like a nice camp ground.
Elk, weasels, and fish. The river is great on a hot day. Restrooms are cleaned daily. Bring your firewood or buy it from the Cove RV park down the street as the bundles at the park or the Brinnon store are a joke.
Our campsite was great but we chose two side by side that had a lot of trees nearby. Some other sites are really exposed so definitely want to check out where you will be. Restrooms were decently clean, tokens available at the ranger station for showers. Nice location to go clamming and collect oysters.
simply beautiful "
Such a fun place to go with the family. Excellent clam digging.
This is a nice state park in a beautiful location. The sites are close together with no privacy foliage on most loops but in the off-season it is not noisy or crowded. There are some flat open areas for kids to play, an easy walk to the tidal grasslands and water where visitors can find oysters and other shellfish, seasonally and with the proper licenses. The river running through camp is an important salmon spawning area so at times there will be fish or fry to watch. There is a network of looping trails through the forest that can be short and fairly easy or up to 5 miles.
Great camp site!
NICE... PEACEFUL... AND BEAUTIFUL !
A wide variety of camping options, including tent camping , RV sites with full hook up, Yurts, Cabins and Group sites too. Makes a great base camp for Boating, fishing , crabing, hiking or just relaxing. Walking distance from the Geoduck Travern which has good food and is family friendly. If your lucky you way witness the Elk herd in the park. The Dosewallips River runs along the edge of the park, and there's nature trails to explore.
This place is magical, the campground is a great drive up and camp, walking distance to the oyster flats and surrounded by gorgeous views. Be sure to have a discovery pass for overnight camping/parking
Decent campground. I visited over 4th of July weekend, so it was packed to capacity! The camp hosts were very nice and efficient at cleaning up the sites after people had left. The campground itself wasn’t very exciting to explore but walking across to the beach or down to the river was enjoyable and easy to access. I hiked a bit too and the Steam Donkey trail was well maintained with fun little sites to explore along the way, like a lightning struck tree and small waterfalls. The reason for one less star is because the full hookup site I unknowing chose was directly across from the sewage tank vent, so if the wind changed the whole site smelled like poo.
Great place to sit and have a bottle of wine
A great state park located on the hood canal. Fishing, crabbing, oysters and clams are all available most of the year round. Claming is currently closed due to over claming at Dosewallips but claming is still open at other near by beaches. There are nice spaces for tents or motor homes. Firewood is available for roasting Smores in fire rings. A heard of elk can frequently be seen. Great scenery in all directions. Convenient bathrooms and showers available as well.
It's very nice setting
One of our favorite get aways! Enjoyed a herd of elk this time! Beautiful river!
My wife and I spent two nights at site 92, with water and power hook ups. The voltage and phase of the power was clean, and the water pressure good. We found Dosewallips to be clean, safe and plenty of open space. Never felt like our next site campers were intruding. The park staff and Rangers were very friendly and ready to assist. Adjacent to the campground is a river that leads to the ocean tidal flats and beaches. There are several trails you can walk, and clam harvesting when open. This is a very good park for families.
This is a serene wetland area with life in abundance! The weather can be all over the place, so prepare yourself. This is a breath taking spot, and worth a drive.
Easy walk with kids. High pay off.
Camp spots right next to each other.
Amazing so much to see!!
Very refreshing to walk around there.
So gorgeous! I stopped on my way home to stretch my legs and there were dozens of beautiful Bald Eagles fishing off the bank.
Easy to access, nice campsites, pleasant hiking paths.
Been coming up here for ten years and I still love this place!! Great place to camp with your family . The Brinon waterfall is just up the road worth it
Watching the spawning salmon near the campground was amazing. They are everywhere! If you take a trek to the Helipad just walk to the beach to see a wildlife observation post. Its an amazing view and we saw the elk herd that frequents the park.
Nice park cabins are very small, but nice inside. Park has beautiful views of river and elks roaming around.
Beautiful worth a visit.
Great spot for oysters.
Try to spend the better part of a week here every year. We love the end of October because the park is not overrun, the Elk herds are present, and the big leaf maples are dropping their beautiful large leaves. Facilities are excellent with spaces for tents to tour bus sized RVs.
My favorite family get together place
Very little privacy. The beaches on the river were not kid friendly, too many rocks and low water level. The bathrooms were good, but a lot of animal droppings in the camp site. Trails were beautiful.
Great Facilities Just Tight To Get Into Google Old Mill Cafe Great Food
I was visiting a friend of mine in Morton. The park is on the edge of town. It's still a camping like setting since Morton is an old logging town in the woods. Neat little town. We really enjoyed it.
Beautiful West Coast Country
I loved the hike we took , I have never been there before , it was worth the 2 & 1/2 hours it took us to get there.
This campground was fabulous. They have cabins, platform tents & tent camping. And Elk. So be careful not to scare them. Think we'll keep to the cabins. Seems safer. Lol. But your in for a treat with being next to the river on one side and the hood canal, on the other side. Really spectacular.
It was a great place to take a hike
Awesome place, highly recommend. We loved it. It was clean and a lot of family fun. Rangers were doing their job at all times. We want to come back again.
Washington parks hard to visit from out if state
Love this place. Jump right in the water is great
Great set up for campers, very easy to park and hookup even for our very first time! Very well maintained park and good access to river and sound water. Larger campground with tons of wide open spaces.
Real nice car camping park. We stayed in a cabin and did not find it noisy, even though the highway was close by. We enjoyed the hikes, and the elk herd was a big thrill!
Had a great 4 night stay. The elk came in on the second day, large herd and not shy.
It's so beautiful. The water just looks so inviting, until you stick your toe in it.
You need a place to get away. This is one. Water, birding & a strong taste of outdoors. The cost is free to your eye's & spirit....
Beautiful state park to camp. Quiet, clean, lots of trails to walk, go clamming, watch the sunrise. We will be back
Slightly misleading paths, but really nice scenery
Loved it, quiet & peaceful.
Loved it. Clams and oysters galore on the wetlands side of the park. Gorgeous mountain and saltwater vistas. Elk and other wildlife occasionally come down to graze. The other side of the parking/picnic area has access to the beautiful Dosewallips river. It's fast in places but crystal clear and there are plenty of places for skipping rocks. Our family had a great trip. You need a Discovery Pass to park, but if you don't have one, theres a gas station right on the other side of the bridge that sells them by the day and year.
Wonderful place to camp and explore.
Pretty and fairly clean
Great place for the whole family ..very scenic along the river and Hood Canal
Seen a heard of elk great experience
This is a great hike, with a fair bit of elevation gain, in a beautiful state park, featuring many trees heavily covered in moss. The trail is mostly pretty well shaded. Be in the lookout for newts in the pond with the stone wall acting as a dam. They're easy to miss if you aren't looking.
The best cleanest camping spots I've ever been to where can you go where a river runs right behind your camping spot people are nice no googans favorite place of all over and out Dean Mills
It was wonderful. Sunny fall weather with chilly nights but warm in the daytime. Great restaurants on each side of the park for dinner. We also drove to nearby trailheads for a walk to two beautiful waterfalls.
I saw some Elk, great altitude.
My family has been going here for years! It is definitely my happy place!
Great place for fun and water play.
Love state park system
Great place to stay, easy to get to very nice little cabins to stay in.
Paved sights with grass all around. Extra clean and elk camping with you.
Awesome and beautiful large Park with camping sites, cabins and RV spots with hookups. Lots of trails to wake! Nice River and plenty of beach shoreline. Lots of parking. About a 40 minute drive outside of Port Townsend
A great getaway that has clams, oysters, & frequently Elk wandering nearby.
It's a beautiful hike worth the drive
Really nice park. Clean and lots of rv spots. Really pretty area. Good trails for novice people. Ranger Drew is awesome! Almost as good as the lady ranger at Belfair.
As state parks go this one is above average, only a small portion of the park has camping in the trees "privacy". The bathroom was clean. Make sure you have bug spray.
Only stopped to use the restroom and let the dog stretch her legs and empty her bladder. They have a large open grass area and the bathrooms are clean. They provide doggie poop bags as well. Be mindful of the "15 minute" parking signs as while we were there we saw a park ranger dish out two tickets to violators. Dogs are allowed but only on leash.
Nice camping area, fun to walk by the river.
Wonderful park. Big roomy spaces and very clean!
Park rangers like to hassle you about boundary lines that are not marked at camp spots. Lot's of spots have big grassy areas behind them, but heaven forbid you incorporate them into your camp area. Even if you're not bothering anyone. Rangers are not on the same page with one another, contradiction between personnel. One day this, next day that.
Great camping areas and hiking trails
Hiked to Murhut Falls. It was a fairly easy hike just under 1 mile from the road. You will be pleasantly surprised once you reach the end. Simply beautiful!
Fabulous getaway from the South Sound. Only 2.5 hrs from the Tacoma/Puyallup area. Quick walk to the sound, well maintained camp area. Wildlife...mostly Sea birds and deer. Bring your muck boots, sweater, and ear muffs. The Washington coast is chilly and windy. Great place to unwind. Educational activities for the whole family.
Nice place to harvest oysters near camp grounds. The oyster harvesting beach might be difficult to find. Take the left just after the gas/convenience store and before you turn right to get the camp grounds. We saw a lot of people around that store trying to find the way there. There is a river near the camp grounds. The restrooms are well maintained with a shower room as well. Water taps are easily accessible as well. You can buy firewood in the ranger station, that costs $6. Be careful which driving around the Park (speed limit is 5m/hr) as kids will be running and cycling on the road. (I hadnt noticed that and got warning from the park ranger). Beautiful place to spend some good family time or oyster harvesting date camping. Have fun. Lastly Don't forget your Discovery pass
Stayed at 94 right by the river, got to watch an Eagle that lived there. Bring wood they have none to spare.
Had a great time camping here with my sisters and my parents. We barbecued up and had a great time had two spots number 15 and number 70. The state park is beautiful and I will definitely return.
A great and beautiful place for photos of mini waterfalls and a big waterfall. Beautiful and easy hike. Though if exploring for better spots to take photos be careful not to lean on a tree that'll give way and have you soaked from head to toe.
Actually a beautiful place to camp hike centrally located again around a bunch of other neat things to do in the Olympic national Forest. And if you like seafood you're in the right spot now
P This place was simply Marvelous I loved this place Period..
Great day hike for groups with lots of great views.
Great spacious RV site 28, stayed there 10/3 & 10/4/18 and enjoyed fantastic weather and even more fantastic companionship with dear friends (also shared the campgrounds with a herd of elk!) Definitely will be returning.
We made a short "comfort stop" here. We might have stayed longer and gone for a walk but we didn't have a Discover Pass and I wasn't going to pay $10 to go for a walk in the park.
It was fun. People help us we long of some
One of my favorite park's. Much to do here with Hiking Camping the River and Bay. Short walk to the Store.
Great campground, despite highway noise. This is one of my favorite places to camp, with very nice utility sites and some beautiful riverside tent sites. The elevated highway literally runs through the campground, but is less of a problem than might be expected. The riverside campsites on the canal side of the highway are my favorites. Some years in the fall there can be the strong smell of decaying salmon, which will keep some people away from sites close to the river. Additionally, frequent flooding during winter shuts down some sections of the campground. Fortunately, the utility sites are generally in good shape year round. At times a protected elk herd wanders the campground, and in fall you may be lucky enough to see them in rut.
One of the best state parks we've ever camped at. We stayed in one of the cabins due to rain but it was awesome!
Great spot. Kind of confusing to get to the beach. If you bring your dogs here they will probably cut their feet on all the oysters.
Fantastic campground one of the nicest we have stayed at,fills up fast reservations almost a,must
Family oriented. River beside many sites.
Great river campground with immediate access to Good Canal!
Really nice campground. Enjoyed it.
Oh my! First if Elk is your spirit animal this is the place to go! Extra helpful staff and bathrooms very clean! This is a very ADA friendly place to go! What I really appreciate no matter the disability there is facilities for that! From cabins, trails or camping this is the place to hangb out with ELK!
Pleasant, helpful staff. Great day hike.
Quiet and covered table's
Beautiful location, glad someone designated this as worthy of being set aside for all of us!
I love the falls
Great lakes to camp, limited phone service but we had a great time
Had a great time here. We stayed in the campground and visited the tidal area daily. Do look up the tides, go to the shore on low tide to see a beach of oyster shells and dig/search for live oysters/clams/crabs. A herd of about 50 elk graze here in the day. Evenings they go into the meadows at the entrance to the tidal area to look for apples falling from the trees. Campground was good. Have to buy tokens for showers. $0.50 for 3 minutes.
Lovely place to really relax and have a picnic or short hike.
Really pretty beach front. Made for an incredible sunset location.
Large campsite, lots of spaces and space. Hook ups in some spots, well maintained bathrooms with showers and hot water. Good place!
