As you know, we do not usually stop to put tatings when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Park is classified in the category of State park.
Crowded with lots of family activities. A bit noisy for couples looking to have a relaxing vacation out in the woods/by the beach. The trade off is worth it for a short stay, though! These sites are a close walk through the forest to a beautiful beach.
Rented the large campsite. It worked out fairly well for large event. However few downsides. One is the one bathroom/outhouse for 10 site campsite must have a drainfield or settling tank or something like that as the smell was pretty bad at times a distance away from it. Like 30 yrds away you could smell sewage. Might be due to recent rains. If camping on one of sites further away not really an issue. I know these state campsites dont generally have power but for large campsite where people do events would be nice to have a power outlet as that would have helped with event. Overall very large campsite and can accommodate lots of people. Nice beach. Fair amount of parking available. Overall like it.
I live within a half mile from the park, and been going there since I can remember. There are plenty of trails to walk on for the afternoon, or go mountain biking with some friends. There are some easy, short trails for the younger kids, and some slightly longer trails for the older people. The parking lot for the beach is very close to the beach, and there is guaranteed parking. Even on the hottest days that I've been there, I have never seen the parking lot full. The beach can be a little crowded sometimes, but I've always found a spot. Good place for kids to play in the water, make sandcastles, or play some sports at low tide. The camping is moderate. Some campsites are pretty good, others not so much. They recently installed some small cabins, which look very nice to stay in. The RV sites are pretty nice. The trail from the campground to the beach is about 3/4 mile, and features the cool log bridge crossing the stream you see there in the pictures. On this beach trail, a little after the log bridge, there is an unofficial slide made out of a log that has been there since I was about 4. Good place to stay for the weekend, go to the beach for a day, bring the kids, or go hiking or mountain biking.
Beautiful views. Nice hiking trails. Camping if you want.
Beautiful! Lovely beach to walk as well as easy and neat trails to adventure on. Great for kids, dogs, couples, groups or just solo trips. Can be a bit busy with weather is nice, but there are enough trails that you still get that "one right nature" feel most of the time. Campgrounds nearby as well so you could really enjoy the park if you wanted
Nice park with lots of parking. But the fact that we have to pay to enjoy this place makes it bad. It has trails, camping & picnic spots.
Is like a labyrinth, I liked it. You might get lost but not completely lost since this park is in the city. A Discovery pass is required.
Nice sand beach that you can skim board or walk the beach or the trials or just soak up the sun
Beautiful place .nice camping spots . plus shower
Beautiful. Too bad state parks can t make this place cleaner, considering there are funds. Bathrooms are questionable
Been going here since i was a kid nice and close easy but make reservations
It was so clean, so peaceful and there were little bunnies everywhere which really excited the kids! Will definitely go again!!
Camping was super fun, but the most fun was on the beach in the morning. The tide was so far out. There are so many sand dollars, alive and dead, carefully where you walk, you don't wanna crush them. I have never in my life seen hundreds of sand dollars anywhere. Its was fascinating to just be there and be present. You will love it.
Crowded small beach, but beautiful easy hiking trails along a tiny creek that are well maintained
This is a great place to go for a long run.
Hubby and I spent the night at a very spacious campsite July 4th weekend and LOVED it! Super friendly staff member checked us in at the gate, found our spot easily and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Enjoyed walking some of the trails offered (there are lots) and would love to go back and stay again, HIGHLY recommend this park!
Great place to skimboard. Go below a +2' tide to skim the stream. You can skim the shoreline when the tide is much higher.
Nice place for families, parking pass machine was out of order, bathrooms yucky, but there were many places to picnic for families. Lots of kids playing, beautiful scenery. Decent park to visit for the day. Also places to camp if needed.
This park is huge and nice! Lots trails, little streams which is really good for dogs. There are couple of lakes. It’s really good for hiking and biking. By the side of the park there’s a really nice park for kids and at the end of the park there is a beach. It’s a total package!! Love this park!!
Awesome experience! The camping sites, picnic tables, the beach, the hiking trails, and just simply everything was perfect! Even the park rangers were awesome and friendly
we had such a wonderful time at the dash point Campground. The beach was fun to explore. my dogs loved running on the quiet beach. we loved all the cute fluffy bunnies too.
Awesome campgrounds. Close to city with decent charges.
Good safe park for those people who are new to camping. There are more than 50+ camp spots available. They cost $32+ dollar’s depending on spots. Only downside that I can think of is that you can actually hear a lot of airplane noises, so it doesn’t feel like you are in deep in the forest.
Fun day building sandcastles and racing the tide.
No one here to let us into the cabins we had rented for a week. Took 2 hours before a volunteer finally had to call the main state parks office to have someone assist. 4 campground hosts and none of them on duty. Ever. Did have to get firewood and they were very rude. The bathrooms were under construction and d we were never notified. Way to far to walk to a bathroom with very young kids. And those bathrooms were filthy. My son had his duffel bag and cell phone stolen. But lots of bunnies and they did enjoy the water.
Campsite is great, the beach is fun especially at low tide. Many people digging for clams, playing in the steam...
It is not "off the grid" camping but it is close. There is a road nearby but if you get a spot by the river; at night , you hear nothing but river. The people running the the place are outstanding. Definitely coming back.
Very beautiful park! Good trails to hike on, & lots of beach area to explore, especially during low tide. Picnic area & Bathrooms were clean.
Really fun place to bring the family parking is $11 sometimes it only takes cash sometimes it looks at card to statement after you check this out check out the falls in granite Falls there is gentleman out there selling gems rocks crystals and jewelry
This is a hidden gem! So close to the city and yet so quiet. There is plenty of parking even on a hot sunny weekend. The sand is soft and perfect for fun.
When the tide is out, great clamming, shells, and sand dollars. Plenty of parking, great trails. Check the tides before you go! At higher tides, no beach at all
The doggos loved their walk on the shore
Expensive for what you get. Someone overstayed in my reserved spot. No one around, no camphost, no ranger, no real number to call. Of course in the middle of the night a police officer woke us to ask why WE we're not registered! Coin operated showers! For $55 bucks a night they should be free! High crime area, lock up your stuff!
Dash Point State Park is totally beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Ever watch a movie and were amazed with the filming location? Dash Point is this place. It's a quaint, small community on the shore of the Puget Sound with homes climbing the hillside, some waterfront homes atop the beach and also abruptly placed behind a small sea wall that lazily curves around a point. A well built pier with holes bored out for fishing poles, sporadic cleaning counters and fresh water hoses for cleaning your catch are placed smartly down the length of the pier. Catching sharks isn't uncommon here. It's calming and breathtaking at the same time. We watched as seabirds were feeding on a small school of bait fish. At low tide, the beach was deep with drift wood marking the previous high tide. This park is definitely on my return visit list, not to mention my future vacation home list.
There is sea weed every where but there is a pretty sunset
Nice beach, lots of trails. A bit overused and unkempt, but satisfactory.
Nice neighborhood park, rangers are present so parking is more enforced
We love this park when we need a close to home beach trip! Great trails, awesome sandy Beach and tons to explore!
Its peaceful, nice when it's high tide. Low tide is alot of seaweed and takes up most of the shore so it can get crowded quickly on a nice day. Very clean, lots of hiking trails, safe. Great place to bring the kids for a day and your dog to play!
The camp ground is super clean, very accessible and nature friendly. Beach across the street. Great experience over all.
I love this beach ! I hate the seaweed everywhere. The water is much warmer than most beaches. Very cool shells and loads of sand dollars for those that like looking for them. I would recommend this park for this and many other reasons. Clean bathrooms, a shower outside to get the sand off before leaving also. We definately will be back.
Married my best friend in a dash point kind of wedding
Beautiful beach mostly sandy with a few rocky areas. Public bathrooms and outdoor wash station available. Nice trails, streams and different types of wildlife around to see. Pets are allowed unleashed on the beach, leashed everywhere else and owners expected to pickup after them. Great place to pack a picnic and enjoy the sunset while smelling the incredible ocean breeze!
Way to close for camping but it was clean and we love the beach.
Woodsy comfortable for camping great place to have a barbecue also it's a great place for a large Gathering
family friendly with camping close. Nice hikes, there is a outside shower so you can leave the sand at the beach... The bathrooms were nice and clean. There are places to picnic and the Sound is shallow even as the tide is rising
Cosey nature stroll with lots to do, better later in the year when more of the park opens. I've gone here many times through out my lifetime and my expectations have always been met if not exceeded. The park staff always leans on your side of things in a gray situation and you can tell they love their jobs.
We went camping at the lower campsites and really enjoyed our stay. There are plenty of private sites and many of the fire pits have been upgraded with newer adjustable cooking grates. The beach is only a half mile hike through beautiful forests. It's easy to forget how close you are to civilization.
Best place for clamming near Seattle. Took us 30 mintutes to find 120 clams for 4 people (you can have max 40 pet person with a fishing license). What a blast!
My girlfriend and I enjoyed camping here alot. The campsites we're all very clean and all the other campers were very friendly. Most of which were families of many diverse ethnicities. Dash point makes for a great one or two day camping trip even if you bus there, which is what we did. It is easy to get to and there are a few miles of trails for hiking or biking.
Looks nice, but small sites and not for a large rig. Impression from being there and driving through doesn't line up with a lot of the negative reviews...
Great place to stay when travelling to Tacoma dome concerts. Beautiful park with full hookups, cabins, a beach. Check out the local restaurants!
Noce spot, beach front was a little smaller than I had thought. Also surprised some of it appears to be "private"....someone can own the Earth's sand
Lots of trails, camping and beach activities. One of my favorite parks. You will need a discover pass to visit.
Trails well-maintained and lots to explore. Nice that you can also spend time at the beach
Nice for a quick stretch kids we walked for about 29 minutes and didnt get too far but it was great
Bathrooms were under construction with no notice provided during reservation process. Bathroom trailers were not clean nor cleaned with sufficient regularity. Park is minimally manned. Not a bad place to stay, but you should ask basic questions.
Very peaceful took my grandson for his 4th Bday he had a great time hiking the trails and playing on the beach.
This particular is among the best in the King county. Very accessible. Offers beach activities as well as the camping site. The wood is charming. You have all chances to see predatory birds like eagles if you don't stick to the cel phone screen. :)
I love that the campground had its own little trails to the beach!
Great flat beach to relax and soak in some sun. Lots of seaweed though so it does smell like the sea. Got a nice little sunkissed tan after 2-3hrs so it was perfect
Loved it. Trails were fun and the beach was great
Overall a nice beach with nice views. Parking was really hard to find, though we did go on Memorial Day. There also wasn't anyone manning the welcome booth when we checked, so we couldn't buy a parking pass for one of the preferred spots. It would have been nice if there were more than one rinse-off shower on the beach. I can't pinpoint where exactly it was, but we had to take a steep, uneven trail on the way down with no handrails (it was a doozy coming back up), so that's something to keep in mind if you have young kids or are unable to walk such trails.
Soo Pretty. Especially if you're in a hurry!
You apparently need tokens instead of quarters for the showers. And, the whole reason I was in town prevented me from getting back before the office closed to get some. Otherwise, it is a typical WA State Park; beautiful, well maintained and a good mix of sites available. Few to none of the amenities I get from RV park memberships I've had, but the stronger connection to nature more than makes up for that. The only thing that keeps that fifth star at bay is the "tokens instead of quarters" thing
Too many druggies, power tripping rangers for me. One of the rangers is a woman hater and has no clue about dealing with deaf people. I prefer mount baker.
Nice little hiking trail from the camp site down to the Puget Sound. True testament of the beautiful Pacific Northwest!
I liked the beach you can catch the clam. It's good place for kids and family who like gathering for picnics, camping and walking on the trail. There are a lot of trails over there.
Nice trail walk and lots of beach. Parking can be tricky but usually someone is leaving and you can snag a spot. Sometimes it's Thunderdome and cars are just parked kinda wherever they fit, some forming car fort cities. You will want to befriend these for supplies.
This is a really nice park. I was there with a group of coworkers, killing time before a dinner reservation, so we didn’t have time to explore the entire park but what I saw was very pretty. The walk along the beach was easy and there are a few picnic tables and bathroom facilities. I don’t know if they were accessible. There were a lot of ducks, herons, and other birds to watch. One strange thing was that there were large, black or brown rabbits in some of the grassy areas of the park. They looked like pets but they were wild. I’ve never seen those kinds of rabbits in the wild before!
Nice campsite with quite a bit of privacy on the outside of the upper loop. Nice fire pit with grate for cooking. Firewood available for purchase nearby. No gathering any firewood in the park. You do hear the planes from SeaTac due to proximity to the airport, but otherwise a great local campground close to the city. Quiet hours aren't ridiculous. We heard people still up and having fun at 11p and later. (Side note: One of the camp host volunteers could handle issues better. There was a termite damaged stump on our site and my husband was playing around with his hatchet and one of the camp hosts came up to him with cell phone raised recording the whole interaction like he was expecting my husband to be aggressive or violent. We weren't taking it apart to burn it and it had absolutely nothing growing on it like a nurse log would. We did notice that my husband was the only black person that we saw in the camping park. Plenty of Islanders, East Indian, Asian, and LOTS of white people. That soured the rest of our stay. While we were packing up, they sat at the site across from us for an hour while I was washing dishes and putting stuff up. Not impressed with that one volunteer.)
I don't have anything else to compare to. I went for the trail hike, which was OK,if not quite confusing. Thankfully, I had all trails app installed. There are a lot of diverging paths along the way and signs not placed very well. I would expect novices, like me to get lost if they aren't prepared. The paths do seem well maintained though. And, if you can read the maps, you can somewhat create your own trail. There's also a $10 rec fee.
Very dirty campground with insufficient facilities for the amount of sites. No playground or scenery. Close to incredibly overcrowded public beach.
Headed down here for sunset to get some photos and it really is a nice little spot for a quick walk and to get away from it all. You really feel like you are much farther out in nature than you truly are. I wish I had time to have checked out the hiking trails but I am sure they would have been a nice place to get a nice leisurely stroll in.
Beautiful beach. Allows dogs if they are leashed
We have only been a couple times but we loved both visits. My boys found several sand dollars. People were digging for clams and there were some really good skim boarders practicing. The beach is soft sand but be careful where you step as there are a lot of shells on the beach.
Wonderful sandy beach when the tide is low. Great place for kids to play, and run, and dig. Let the little nippers go free
Spent a night here and really enjoyed it
This is one of my favorite places on the planet. The beach is perfect.
Dash Point State Park is a nice park to visit and photograph. Good parking lot. Nice walking trails.
Firstly, I just have to say what a positive and amazing experience I had at this campground. The volunteers were friendly, kind and absolutely awesome to interact with. Also, the camp was clean and beautifully laid out. I will definitely be camping here again the next time we go to Washington. Thank you Dash Point for being so amazing!
Love this place. The sand is smooth and the sunset views are breathtaking!
I love how dashpoint is so close. Super empty in the off season but almost too crowded in the summer. Hard to find a table and seats in the summer and as I recall the daytime parking lot is a hot mess. Gotta appreciate that at least we have a state park in the middle of the city so there’s that
Great place to spend time with the family. Enjoying the nice balmy and damp wind swept wind in your face while walking along the clumpy wet sand.
I'd give this place zero stars if it was possible. Dirty washrooms, unlevel campsites. Save your money, or burn it, would be a better time.
Very fun place - water is shallow and clear, can walk WAY out and only be up to your thighs- nice place to find sea life and build sandcastles!
It's a very beautiful, but rugged area. Nice beach and picnic area
Amazing campsite, don't let the secret out! ;)
Beautiful state park but many people don’t have Discovery Pass. Discovery Pass is required!
Great park on the beach. Camping options, lots of parking. Wonderful trails with plenty of seating options in the park areas.
Nice sites but there were some really creepy people hanging out at the camp ground. I would recommend charging for the showers or add a code lock to the doors to keep the the tweakers out.
Plenty of parking and beautiful beach. Nice camp grounds with lots of trails. Showers and rest rooms
The trails here are very well kept, and there are plenty of them to choose from as you are hiking around. My friend and I had a great time; it was sort of like choose your own adventure and there was never a wrong choice for trails. I will be coming back again, maybe next time for the beach or picnic areas.
Lots of great hikes to do with the family and ocean right there to play in after
The staff as always was very positive. I really love going out there.
Great place to go camping and clamming for varnish clams!
Always end up there when visiting the area. Gorgeous during low tide, walk down the beach and find all sorts of goodies.
Havent had any problems here super easy to get to parking is always good and shaded. Bathrooms are decent and they have a shower to wash sand off. Not much more I could ask for.
Went camping there it was fairly nice. A few spots down a couple got in an argument the 2 days we were there and it just ruined our experience. Not only that but when the park patrol guy drove around the campsites he drove really slow and looking at us like we were up to no good. It made me feel uncomfortable. Deciding not to camp there anymore.
Nice little.park to stop for the night.
Had a lot of fun camping and going down to the beach to watch a beautiful sunset
Nice little park, close to the beach and we'll maintained. Camp sites are side-by-side, so you're pretty cozy with your neighbors; but there's plenty of hiking around with blackberries and bunnies everywhere. Great spot for a weekend adventure and roasting marshmallows.
Nice park with decent facilities and wide beach. Parking can be difficult on busy days. Be sure to bring your discover pass or be prepared to pay day use fee.
This is a wonderful public Beach. This has some of the best sand for sand castles, that is within a quick drive from Tacoma. Check the tide schedule and go when the tide is low. Also make sure you get a Discovery Pass from the state of Washington for parking. Otherwise you will need to pay for a day pass (cash only).
Th park itself is nice, the walking trails are nice but crossing a busy road to get to the beach sort of sucks and all the dead rotting seaweed smells horrible.
Our family rented a group site. It was perfect to pitch tents and have campfires. That site was a little far for walking distance to the water if you have small children. The do have running water spigots near at and at some sites and showers on the single site side that are free and have hot water and full restrooms.
Was just picking up a friend but they said it was great
Beautiful park by tbe ocean. Nice beach to look for baby crabs and play in the water. Kid friendly too.
The sand is like pudding, it's so much fun to play with. It seems like a lot of families enjoy coming together, with toys and tools for digging up clams. There's a small stream that flows from the forest onto the beach that carves grooves into the malleable sand. There are also trails, a picnic area, and a bathroom on site. A discover pass is normally required to park (sometimes there are free access days)
Beautiful place for hiking, swimming or just chilling.
It's a small Washington State Park which is good for RV. Convenient location near Federal Way. Found no public water tag besides the one one next to the only shower and washroom. It's located in the flight path which can be noisy. Like the trails and the access to the beautiful beach.
Stopped by point defiance for the zoo and aquarium. Then took a nice drive up the waterfront to dash point. Awesome time with the kids digging for clams (just for fun not to eat) sand dollars and jelly fish. Seals are usually around. Try getting their for low tide as you can walk out pretty far on the sand. Otherwise you be around a whole lot of seaweed as the tide come back in. Definitely check the tide schedule before heading to the waterfront.
Cool place , view was great and good for families. Don't forget your parking pass for the state park.
Fantastic park with plenty of picnic tables. There are a few spots with a grill but those I believe are the spots you reserve. Pay for parking and check if you have a discover pass. Multiple restrooms throughout the park. Dogs allowed on beach on leash. Tide goes out really far, perfect for skim boarding.
Great park! This was my first time here and even though it poured down rain, the covered picnic area was great, and the hike down to the beach was easy and not too long. The tide was out and it was great beach-combing weather. We'll definitely come again and brave the crowds on a sunny day!
My favorite local beach and park. I love taking my dog here for splashies in the water and long walks on the beach, and the trails
I love camping at dash point! My husband and I travel to Seattle frequently and almost always stay here!
That's a beautiful park, with lots of hiking trails and right on the water. Make sure you have your Discovery Pass, to park. Check online I think you can buy it like Big 5 or something, best to get him when you renew your tabs I'm only thirty bucks and they're good at many parks around the state.
Beautiful beach near dash point state park
Most Washington beaches are rocky but this one is sandy. If you go during low tide you have a huge beach to walk along. However, we accidentally went during high tide once and the beach had practically disappeared. Lol.
Absolutely beautiful, so bummed the campgrounds were full.
Excellent service. Our drinks came out perfect store is clean
Pretty park, great spot for day use! Make sure you have a discovery pass before you go though, it is a requirement for beach access!
Enjoy a peaceful families camping. Love it! Going again next summer
Loved it! Beautiful spot and surprisingly not too crowded..sweet sunset!
Great beach for the family. Has a public restroom and outdoor shower for washing off after playing on the beach. Must have a Discover Pass.
Clean trails and a nice beach. Lizzy had a great time.
A but busy but still super peaceful for a walk and some time near the water.
I like this campground. It's a good weekend getaway. I little pricey for tent camping but it's probably the same everywhere in this area. They have a variety of spaces to fit big or small camping gear so that was cool.
Excellent and gorgeous place to visit and walk along the beach when the Tide's out..
Stunning hiking trails. Nice beach. Discover Pass required except on free days.
Dash Point State Park a nice trail and beach combination tucked away in Federal Way! Once you're done walking the trail, it is nice to relax on the waters. The beach itself is not my favorite as it is not sandy like Alki and Golden Gardens. It is more like wet solid sand/dirt with sandy areas here and there You can reference my photos to understand. However, it is still quite nice to enjoy the view and relax. Based on my experienced it is quieter in comparison to other beaches.
Super quiet. Sad there was no firewood. Kinda pricey IMO.
I live right next to this park and feel blessed to be so close. Such a great place!
The park was a good place for relaxing. There are a good number of picnic tables and some of them had barbeque pits. Though I didn't have a kayak I could tell that this was a fairly popular destination for those that did. If you don't mind it being slightly crowded you might really enjoy coming here.
A beautiful place but not a lot to do because the shoreline is owned by private parties.
Beautiful place. So relaxing. They charge $10 for a self parking day pass. We spent a few hours there.
