Great place but SO MANY SPIDERS! Webs everywhere, even on the playground equipment and the spiders in them are huge!! Found one in our bed the second night even after spraying spider repellent all around the outside of our travel trailer. Everything else about this place is great but we won't come back if the spiders are this bad.

We planned to spend a weekend with our family who came from out of town, but it ended short due to SPIDERS! And I don’t mean a few small spiders but lots of spider crawling on your legs, arms and in your hair. Our vehicle and camper was covered with spiders, even after knocking them off, there were more. I came home and they too came home. We sprayed our camper, they are still there. They are in our motor and any hole they can find in our truck and camper. Tomorrow I get to pay for a company to come spray my camper, truck and house. NOT VERY HAPPY! The water was great, the camper site was fine but if you like spiders then this is for you. Our family will never go back nor will I referre it.

Campground is fine but it sucks being right next to a big highway. Maintance started walking weeds in our campground at 11am before check out. Yeah that's exactly what we want to hear when trying to get away. Will not be returning to camp.

Nobody was there so I couldn't find out how much the cabins are to rent. Other than that it's a beautiful spot, well maintained, has a ton of pull through camping slots, reasonably priced too! Looks like the fishing would be pretty decent too. In the summer time they offer kayak rentals as well.

This place is amazing! Nice little, private "island" - right on the river. I was informed owner/operator acquired this property from the BLM. Glad these people were able to acquire it because they take really good care of this place and are really nice! Stayed few weeks during Sept 2016. The park is really well-kept & the scenery is just spectacular! Very few campers - at least when I was here. Large, clean restrooms & laundry. Great walk areas for me and my dogs - park is mostly well-trimmed grass, and RV park slips are all drive-thru & spacious. Park is close to a town and right near (~ 50+ miles) it is Univ of WA and Univ of ID - where there's even of course larger "towns" and many shops & restaurants, after a bit of a drive. I stumbled on this hidden gem and will definitely be back! I would have stayed longer but I had arrangements to be in the Redwoods for a few months. Very interesting history and amazing drive from California, to Oregon, to Washington, to here (Chief Timothy Park). How the heck none of this was taught in (my) high school, I'll never know, but the experience was very relaxing & quiet. There is a little bit of highway noise that you notice at night (if the A/C isn't running), but other than this, it really didn't bother me & was hardly noticeable only when going to sleep.

They water the grass tell 4 check-in is at 2 and if you ask them to turn it off so you dont have to wait so long to put tour tent up there sarcastic and rude

I love the 24-hour accessibility unlike most surrounding campgrounds that close their gates at 10PM. The campsites themselves were clean and close to the river which was a plus. The only real critique is the closeness of the camps themselves when you intend to go camping to get away from others. But overall, it was a nice island to be able to camp on. The site offers an on-site volleyball and a basketball half court as well as cleanly, maintained bathrooms and s laundry area. Also, make sure to hike the trail loop which is an unpaved path that lets you walk around the entire island-just watch out for those spiders!

Labor day/birthday weekend, camper is in the shop for repair so we rented cabin number 68. The good: the cabin had ac, the futon was comfortable. The bad: parking for this site was quite away from the cabin so it's quite the job to get your bedding and stuff moved in. The bathroom is about a quarter mile away and so that's inconvenient as well. The water was disgusting and swimming section and not like duck poop but just so much debris and stagnant, was gross. The grounds were not in good condition and there was a lot of goat heads and you could definitely not go barefoot because even with shoes on the goat heads were getting in your feet. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. There was absolutely no shade the front porch was unusable because of the direct sun and over 100 degree weather with no shade. My husband is disabled and nothing is handicapped accessible. On top of all of that it was $75 a night. Not worth it won't do again on a mission to get my camper out of the shop.

Very nice campground but the spiders are atrocious. They get into everything. I was continually spraying Home Defense which helped but for every spider you kill two more replace them. Not sure why management doesn't take some action to reduce the problem. We took some home with our RV and flat tow.

We love this place, haven't been here for 3 yrs. til this weekend. Its quiet and a beautiful place, very disheartening the the grounds aren't being watered or kept up. If you go i suggest bringing a extra hose and sprinkler the grass is so dry and waterfront sites the weeds and blackberry bushes need taken out so u can enjoy the view. The family that left b4 us let the gate keeper know that they were also upset that the place is not being kept up and it is also 1 of their favorite places. Great fishing from the banks if you don't have a boat.

Beautiful campground on an island in the Salmon River with a meaningful art installation, the Listening Circle. Nice staff and well kept grounds. Did not stay the night as our federal lands campground is managed by a private contractor who does not honor our Golden Eagle pass, thus making it too expensive for us, thus the 3 star rating.

Closed to cars until summer but you can park outside the park and walk in. There's a loop around the island that is a nice walk.

Super Place! Very spacious campsites. Camp host, Chelsy is wonderful! The scenery is great the walking paths are super even for bicycle riding one can get a good workout. We'll be coming back time and time again

Beautiful clean park that offers access to the river for both swimming and boating. Plenty of potable faucets, restrooms and pay showers. Only complaint I had was the play ground equipment isn't very safe.

Handicap restrooms we're filthy. Dead bugs and spiders every where. Lights and fan didn't work. Probably a breaker or fuse issue. Garbage dumpsters were overflowing when we arrived on a Saturday. And camp host seemed to be more interested in hosting Beer Pong parties than taking care of their guests. Had to delay packing up due to irrigation schedule, then got dirty looks from staff for leaving 50 minutes late after check out time. I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN! So sad the state had to let this gem go.

Very nice campground, well kept and lots of sites available in Oct. Very windy though, may have just been the weather. Be sure to take the train around the island and visit the Confluence listening circle.

My favorite camping spot. Great location on an island in the middle of the river. Campsites are spacious and well equipped, with many having sewer hookups, but most having water and electric. There's a little store for some things without having to run into town. Great beach and the views are amazing from any shore. Good hiking trails with more spectacular views on the back side of the island.

My dog was attacked while ON A LEASH in our campsite while or little children and us were eating lunch. The neighboring camps dog that was OFF ITS LEASH came over and viciously attacked our tiny pomeranian. The Camphost did nothing but move them down one campsite. No apologies were made the old man took off without even having a talk with me it was very shady back handed in I do not recommend this place to any person who loves their animals. If you want your animals attacked and no repercussions done the chief Timothy that's your park!!!! The camphost was more acomidating to the campers not following the rules than to the campers who follow them.

So i really hate to give this review. But there where so many spiders it was really really bad. The lake river was very nice. They have a nice swim area, and a nice swim area for friendly dogs. They have a nice play ground full of spiders if your okay with that. Goat heads are all over so don't ride your bikes there. The volleyball area was nice also but again goat heads. Afraid to sit on the benches you may have a friendly spider come climb on you. Don't stand under the trees the spiders will come down very fast to greet you. There is a witching hour for them and they swarm the motorhome or camper. Take some bug bombs with you so you can spray daily if camping. Only ran into one snake i didn't have to see since my daughter saved me from seeing it and saved her dogs from getting it. Stay in the water you will be okay. Check you water crafts when getting out snails are stuck to the bottom of your water craft. So i will say i loved the water. Will never go back sorry.

I'm amazed that the reviews here hardly mention the SPIDERS!! The facility is nice, very quiet and we enjoyed our stay. But there are literally more spiders here than I've ever seen in my life. They don't bother you, and there are hardly any bugs, but if you have a fear of spiders, you will run screaming from this campground .

Grassy Corps of Engineers RV park on island in the Snake River. Our site had a huge grassy area and access to river. Federal discounts not honored because it’s operated by a contractor. Separate tent only area. Quiet on a Monday night. Mostly pull through sites. Day use area with swim area. Tip- call ahead to make sure there’s space.

Spider island....... ok so i get we're out doors and thers bugs but we had been camping for a week all over montana and just a few here and there..... get to chief timothy park and you can here them crawling up the tent sides all night and i mean big garden spiders orb spiders black widows and a ton of small ones knocked a good 30 of them off my tent throughout the night had some in my bed in the morning never in my life seen so many. park was beautiful cool to be on an island but way to many spiders..

The two ladies, Chelsey and her collegue were so helpful, super friendly and very knowleagable of the area. Loved the kayak around the island, and exploring the trails. Could have better phone/cell service but that's not their fault. Sites are good, bathrooms clean and great value. Overall the best place we have camped in three states.

Went to the 1st annual trick or treat last October and it was a blast . The realized soon after it started there mistake with lighting and vowed to have issues fixed before the next one and that they grossly underestimated the amount of people who would come but next year I hope that it's at very least just as fun as this year was even with the hiccups

Its a fun place for a hike along the river and maybe some fishing or faux camping. I wouldn't recommend the swimming. The beach is gravel and the water has a layer of muck on the top. There is a cool little listening circle for maybe speeches at a wedding, large family reunion or company retreat/BBQ.
