Average Rating:

DESCRIPTION

We have the reviews of people who use the services of Brooks Memorial State Park (Park) in the area close to the state of Washington.

To this day the business has a rating of 4.2 out of 5 and the score was based on 109 reviews.

You must have seen that the average of ratings is good, and it is founded on a high number of reviews, so we may say that the assessment is quite faithful. If there are many people who bothered to value when they are pleased with the service, is that it works.

As you know, we do not usually stop to place scores when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...

This Park is included in the category of State park.

Fabulous, except for the power lines buzzing all day and all night right above the park.

We camped here for a night. It's a pretty dry place, as expected for the region it's in. The traffic from the busy highway could be heard all night from our tent.

We've been here several times for the blues music festival that used to be held next door to Brooks Memorial. Had a family reunion here 5 years ago. Great place for group gatherings. Decent showers

Nice place to camp with shady tent sites that is quieter than the Columbia River at least because of the trains along there, but its still close to the highway- which is good or bad depending on how you look at it.

Went to a men's gathering here. It was great, everything from the kitchen to the bathrooms was just fine. Ate food and played bocci ball all day. Great place to kick back and have fun.

Keith Johnson

Not the nicest WA state park. HV power lines on one side and Hwy 97 on the other. It's ok for a night on your way somewhere.

A really nice place to stop on highway 97. It's attractive and there is a nice hiking trail behind the shelter.

Very nice small, State Park. Very friendly.

Clean and well maintained camp sites. We used one of the drive-in tent sites. That the site is so close to 97 makes it loud as trucks roll by all times of the day.

This park is easy to find right off hwy 97. There is a tiny gate house that appears unused, we had to self register at a pay station. There was a park host right at the entrance to the campground with a small store that was closed. The full-service sites were side-by-side with no privacy. The non-service sites were located in the forest on twisty, narrow, rough dirt roads that do not accommodate anything bigger than a small tent trailer. There is additional tent camping very close to the hwy with lots of road noise. There are high power lines running directly over the full-service campsites. The air hums with electricity. The playground was an old set of swings hidden in the woods. The butterfly garden was an overgrown weed patch. There are lots of trees and a large field of green grass. There are lots of hiking trails, but the maps provided are poor quality and the trails heads do not provide any information. The restroom in the campground area is clean but the restroom in the day use area near the hwy stinks. Drive past this one.

Visited here on 4/15/19, hiked 5.4 miles on the Brooks nature trail. It was on my way home from ancient lakes. I was checking out the camp and stopped to ask the camp host if there was any hiking trails in the area. The camp host was very friendly and gave great directions and a map. The hiking trails are across the street from the campground. They are mostly all old roads, so nice and wide. All the trails on the top are muddy, slippery and waterlogged right now. Hiked 5.4 miles. Very beautiful area.

To crowded for us. Also tent spot was sloped. An improvement would be to take out every other tent spot and make additional spaces in a new area. Lots of birds!

Really wanted to like this place and was looking forward to exploring the area. Unfortunately the reservation website does not list enough details to make an educated choice about sites for your needs. I have a small tent trailer, and reserved spot 30, which is basically a walk in tent site (you cannot tell that from the website description or pictures ). For those thinking about camping here, if the reservation system says 1 tent, assume there is no place for your car. Because it was a Thursday night, we took an open unreserved spot, and then left on Friday to find a different location to camp (ended up at Mt. Adams). The traffic noise was really horrible and didn't quiet down until the wee hours. The park host volunteer was not able to answer any questions about reservations or spots that were open (he was nice, just no help). The cost for the site ($38 per night) and the extra fee for out of state campers means we won't return. On the upside the bathrooms were clean and the nearby St. John's Monastery bakery has fantastic food (best baklava I've ever had).

It was a beautiful place but we tried to eat a picnic lunch there and the yellow jackets were so bad we had to eat in the car.

Love it there

Pretty much your typical State Park camping. We arrived late at night from our road trip, so we didn't really get an idea of what everything looked like in the dark. The first spot we chose turned out to be right next to a major road, with semi-trucks and cars flying past frequently. We moved to another spot, next to a small creek which fortunately helped mask the noise from the road. Apparently these spots cost an extra $5-10, don't recall exactly. The grounds were completely empty, except us. Not horrible, but the sites were a little too close to one another for my liking, and the major road noise.

I wanted to like this place. The water in the shower got hot, the disc golf course was really fun. But if you have any issues or questions with your reservation, good luck! The host doesn't know anything and is quick to say so and offer nothing. The park rangers were pretty non existent and there is no "yellow phone" like at other state parks. The spot we were at (27, don't pick it!) had the road on 3 sides and was on a hill. We had to shim the picnic table because everything kept sliding off. Plus the road noise.... all night. Maybe if you're in a pinch stay there for one night but I wouldn't stay for longer.

.We are on the cabin side with a large grassy area in front of the lodge the leads down to the little Klickitat river. It is beautiful here.

I forgot to pack my mattress and we got there too late to drive to the Dalles. The camp host was amazing and found me a sleeping pad to use. Sites were well kept, facilities clean and well stocked. Rangers were friendly as they did their rounds. We were on the back loop (40-45) so there was some road noise, but it was just white noise. There were bees, so I would bring something to help control them since they seen to be attracted to the meets vs sugars.
