REVIEWS OF Battle Ground Lake State Park IN Washington

Leon Baker

Nice beautiful clean place to camp and Nice clean Lake to swim in.

Lindsey Robison

This was a very well kept park. Bring your Discover pass to bypass the 10$ parking fees. There is a small snack shack that offers firewood and other basic essentials. The lake is smaller but great for kayaks and paddle boards(which can be rented for $18 an hour. There is a lot of seating throughout the park but waterfront seating is limited.

Corey Short

Great place for a day trip and a quick hike for the little ones. Although be careful because there is water... But starting kids out on an easy hike is the way to go.

Dianne Sanden

Beautiful and peaceful. What’s there not to love?

Samuel Madrid

Great place to kayak.

Karla Simons

I love going to Battleground Lake with the family! Construction is going on right now for a new dock and boat ramp! Should improve the experience and fishing spots

Jeremiah Hoffman

Relatively clean. Tons of snagged fishing line in the water. If you fish, prepare to "catch" old line and lures.

Kyle Kunze

Fun park, just can be busy.

Britta Brashears

My husband and I decided to camp here because we had some time to kill before attending an event in Portland. Didn't want to spend $100 on a hotel. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the stunning scenery. A trail circles the "lake". Kayaks and stand up paddle boards are available for rent. The area feels very secluded and like a rain forest. Be prepared to walk a bit to your campsite... Even so, it's gorgeous here. Highly recommend

Olga Graur

We love to walk around the lake. The playground structure is kinda old but the nature is breathtaking

Tracy Angus

They should have better parking for handicap..

Naleena Villarreal

A very well-kept Park. Nice warm lake for the time of year. Battleground state park is very popular, there were a lot of people swimming.

Nathan Leaming

Nice state park. Narrow but doable paved roadways. Nice playground areas, nice 25 acre lake, selfserve kayak rentals. Cabins. No sewer hookups, only water and power. Bathrooms are run down, paint can only hide so much...

Joshua Cox

Beautiful cabin on the lake. Comfortable and clean.

Michael Baker

Such an awesome place. She swims, I hike.

Matt Johnson

Nice park but over used. Its close to town so it see lots of people

Kim Conner

Beautiful 2 mile walk around the lake.

Flash In Your Pan

Nice state park

Cassidy Houck

Clear trails and puppy approved! Will definitely do this again

Kyle Seaunier

Battle Ground Lake State Park is a beautiful place to either go camping or just spend the day during the off-season it's quite affordable although during the summer the rates can be steep and reservations can become more difficult to get it's still a great Park during either season they have a wonderful swimming area a easily accessible boat launch as well as a nice dock for either fishing or temporarily Mooring you're small non gas powered fishing vessel if you need to grab a bite to eat or use the nearby restroom Battle Ground Lake is a great place for families or just to go fishing I would definitely recommend it for a close to home getaway or anyone else for that matter

Nita Rios

Wear shoes in the water, fish hooks all over. Concession stand has floats too. Peaceful, tranquil. Walk around the lake, it's not a tough walk. Dog friendly.

Linda Totten

Beautiful place. Great snack bar

Robert Gomes

I have been coming to this lake for years. Back when the Dollar family owned it, it had a dance floor that kind of hung over the Lake. That burned down, but they did have a really tall slide into the lake that I would probably not attempt now. I paid the $30 buck's for the pass for the year,as I have for the last few years, and it still is one of my favorite places to go,especially in the fall.

What? Who?

Great place to take kids and camp

Cody Sherrill

The trail around the lake is nice, the boat launch and swimming area is under construction.

lil Yachty

The water was great for my lil boat and it wasn’t cold like Minnesota, but all in all it was a lit time, LIL BOAT

Glenna Butler

Beautiful area. Great staff. Love the place and will be going many times in the near future.

Brendan Aulberg

It lacks the grandeur of Bnaff, to which I would enthusiastically give a 5, but this state park is just 10 minutes away from downtown Battle Ground and offers a natural oasis. A lake to swim in, walk-in and drive-in campsites, a boat launch, showers, playground equiipment for the kids, and equestrian sites and trails. And pacific northwest forest beauty.

Cameren Kuhnhausen

It is a super convenient location, you get to immerse yourself in the outdoors without being a million miles away from everything. it's great for day trips or for camping and there's always something to do for everybody.

Simmy Reid

Nice place to take the kids and get them outside. I would prefer if the gravel roads were not so bumpy.

Timothy Johnson

Easy walk around the lake with nice fishing nooks.

Tim Coto

Not sure who keeps track of the restrooms, but the one by the day use parking lot was disgusting. The tank was full. Less then a foot from the top.

Simei Villegas

Very nice place to come and share with family.

rocket man

Our local haunt - not huge as state parks go, but a great piece of nature within 5 minutes of downtown Battle Ground. Camping, Hiking, Swimming, Playgrounds, picnicing, boating, fishing, and even equistrian trails.... BG Lake State Park has it all!

Eric Whitehead

I don't skate much anymore (I'm old) but this is an amazing looking park. It has a large street area, big bowl area with cradle and really nice looking clover leaf pool. It's a bit of a drive from Portland but definitely worth checking out!

Jeremy Ginter

There is one good spot to fish. Anywhere else you will pull up nothing but seaweed. Fished for 6 hours both in a kayak and on land with no luck. I would not recommend...

Chad Rhodes

fun place to fish . Took my boys there and we all had fun. Then after they went swimming . Good times!

Torin Emerson

Can be crowded in summer, but great swimming, great hike around the lake.

Lisa Kemp

My family has been enjoying the lake for generations. The Battle Ground area has seen a huge population growth in recent years, which makes the lake crowded and dirty and not nearly as nice as it used to be. You would think that between the Discover Pass and park entrance revenue that it would be kept cleaner, but that’s not the case. It’s fine if you dig the public park vibe, but if you’re looking for nature and serenity there are lots of other options.

Leah Sossamon

Nice park just outside of town. We haven't explored everything yet, but we have been there twice and are very happy to have this park near us. We hope to try out the campsites when the weather is a little better. Lots of fishermen, walking trail around the lake, kayaks and paddle boards for rent, horse trails.

astrid michalak

Great place to hike at an easy going pace. Beautiful sights on the trail that goes around the lake.

Laurie Roney

Nice trails. Lake trails are beautiful. Great campsites in the forest

Judi Campbell

Great walking trails, large camping spots, privacy, and a lake!

Ernest Smith

Beautiful park, weird that went there for a day trip for fishing for trout, no luck mostly Bass.

Jessica Forbes

Nice place to be when it's not packed, especially on the water kayaking.

Eduardo Ruiz

Pretty good place to spend the weekend, go fishing, hiking and getting some good pictures in the surroundings

Phillip Ferrier

So quiet and peaceful. We plan on staying in the cabins there sometime this summer. It was a nice place to bring our 3 year old. Nice drive from Portland if you take the back roads and not the freeway. There was a play structure, a baseball feild, boat ramp, play area in the water and a pier. Trails go all around the lake. You can hike the ridge or stay close to the shore.

Jamie Ward

Very nice small little lake. My family and I often visited when we where on holiday from Durham

Kirk Lathrop

Wasn't that great of

Scott Robbins

Nice place on a hot day..

David Light

What a awesome at the lake. Enjoy with my family and dog.

David Lore

It's a short hike around the lake that's quiet and beautiful. The camping area looks nice. We may have to book a spot soon.

Coralee Seyler

Great place to take children, great for family reunions

Levi Hayes

Beautiful lake. Well maintained park.

Rose Rooney

Beautiful place, but I wouldn't swim in the water or eat the fish!

Jim Quine

Rough lower trail but nice

SUSY’XS MORALES

We were there yesterday, for our first time, and definitely we love this place, very peaceful and beautiful!! We will back soon for sure !!! Totally recommend it !!!

Dakota Dean

No grass rock to sit on no snack bar disappointed !

Jim Walsh

Beautiful lake, great trails and fully stocked rainbow trout. Plenty of picnic and great camp sites. RV hook ups (electric and water) onsite tank dump. Many RV pull through spots if you don't like backing the trailer in. Full forest feel with much cover and Pacific rainforest foliage. Yurts are available and fishing, swimming is only a short walk away.

Paul Obias

Good little spot to throw a fishing line in. Walking trail or hiking trail that goes around the lake. You will need a Discovery Pass or a day pass typically about $15 for a day pass. If you bring a dog prepared to have them on a leash. Camping spots are also available there see their website for details. I would recommend bringing good walking shoes that you don't mind getting muddy or dirty.

Glynn Smith

A miniature Crater Lake. A small 26 acre caldera lake just north and east of Portland/Vancouver. Canoes and paddle boards available via an automated system (didn't rent one ), concessions, bathrooms with showers, playground and picnic shelter all near the lake. There are cabins, trailer sites and tent sights available. Campsites vary wildly in size from just big enough to huge. None are really flat and level. Our site was only slightly sloped and cupped near the edges. Big enough for 2 full size and a childs tent. My sister's site, 40 or 50 feet back along the road, was twice or more our site. It sloped away from pull through like it was on the side of a volcano, which it is. There is enough trees and underbrush you get some privacy without being over grown. Still close enough to other sites you can hear conversations and yours be heard. Note - can be very crowded on weekends

Jeff Phun

Great fishing, clean, fairly quiet, no gas motors.

Sarah Arun

Fun safe place for the family. Canoes are available to rent for $18 an hour.

Jay Smith

I love coming here great place to do a small hike

landon graham

Rented a cabin for 3 nights and enjoyed being woken up every morning to mice in the walls. I understand its nature but its frustrating to pay as much as we did for that experience. Park host was nice about it but there was nothing she could do

Tom hall

Awesome park!! Great trails and beautiful views.

maribeth feroah

Beautiful..Very well kept. Campers delight!

Lord Vader

The finally finished the fishing pier. There's still a lot of logs and other fish hook grabbing obstacles at the bottom. Not good fishing as of late.

Elizabet Starling

Very small lake but there are quite some interesting specimens in the water. This park requires a fee. Lame. Leave nature to be free!

Blayne Wika

A nice small family friendly lake. Watch out for all the fisherman tho early on in the day! We took out a friends paddle board and giant flamingo floatie and had a blast!! We also walked the shortest trail around the lake, only half a mile :) oh yeah, we saw a bald eagle swoop down and catch a fish twice!!! Super cool!!

Mark Walker

Spot was ok, not very level. Roads in the park are really poor. Bathrooms are ok. Very quiet park.

david tomerlin

Nice little lake, very quiet this time of year (October)

TerraSue Brittell

Our family loves this park. Normally I'd. give it a 5 star, but due to construction at this time, it is a 3, but once done, sure it will go back up.

Ryan Ralston

Great!! Pay to park, awesome lake access for swimming and non-motorized craft

Annamarie Fields

its not a place id consider spending time at. no beach n swampy n its not even hot yet.

Barbara Bolich

"Lake" is a generous word. This is a large pond. It is lovely, but small. I don't believe gas motors are allowed, and there was a burning ban in effect. Probably smart because in just our short visit, we saw 2 spots where idiots had dumped used charcoal. The picnic area is first, with a small jungle gym, large grassy areas, picnic tables delightfully tucked among the trees, and several shelters. We saw wheelchair accessible tables and toilets, but not much pavement other than the very steep hill to the beach and the campground loop. The campground is gorgeous and offers very nice cabins as well. Lots of foliage separates sites. But this is a BUSY place. Most sites had at least 3 cars in them! That's a lot of folks. There are camp hosts. The beach is small, roped off, and fairly shallow. Not much "sand", but grassy area, picnic tables, and native plants line the shore area. There's a boat launch, and plenty of space to fish. We saw translucent green fingerlings eagerly approaching every rock thrown in, but no one had large fish today. There is a lovely trail around the lake. It was a cool day, so no swimmers, but I had just read online that the water quality was suspect. Check before you go. We had the state park pass, so no fee, but there's a charge to use it. The air smelled fresh and lively, but at least one of us reacted to either the cedar and/or the moulds in the air. Recommendation: go early, make reservations if you want to camp, avoid weekends, and take ready to eat food or a gas grill.

Tom Brady

As I tried to get a feel for nature, I wanted to get the full experience. I went number two in the woods, but there weren’t any good wiping leaves. Nice lake though.

Mark Holdaway

A great place for a quick overnight car camping trip and some fun on and around the lake! The sites have good access to the lake. Despite being such a popular “little” lake, there’s room to explore and the limited parking keep the crowds reasonable. We love having BGLS Park so close!

Joanna Jimenez

It was fun and good bc the water was fresh

erik nydam

Great place depending on who else is staying there. 35 Drive up and rv campsites including 3 cabins with showers. The upper and lower trails looping around the lake are a great hike and there are several undercover areas to rent for the weekend. Pack lightly I you choose to stay at the 12$ hike in sites.

Walt Charlton

We went here for a family reunion picnic and found it to be a very nice place for outdoor activities. We found some nice hiking and the picnic tables were covered plus the park was very clean. It's comfortable location for just hanging out and relaxing.

tatiana friptuleac

I love ty this park. Here is good playground, big shelter, clean beach. I recommend

Debbie Spillman

Even with families, it is very peaceful. Beautiful place, we come here every year if possible, we love it here!! ♥

Cheri Way

What a precious little Park. Not at all what I had expected. I can't wait for the opportunity to go camping there.

Clayton Davis

Really pleasant. It has good hiking trails with nice views. A lot of people fish and kayak on the small lake. Campsites around. And a parking pass machine (currently out of service as of this posting, but to be repaired). Park staff are friendly. And there's plenty of parking. Also many nice camp sites available. It's very nice

pedalpowered1

Serene. The water is real nice and clear

Davyd Kazakov

A great place for trout fishing with a short hiking trail around the lake.

Mike Jones

Great park/lake for the family.

Doreen Connors

Battle Ground lake is serene and the surrounding area is lush with trees. There are miles of trails for riders and hikers. There are bathrooms throughout the park, and showers for campers. The camp sites are not free and I would suggest reservations. You can day trip for a $10.00 WA Discover pass but if you live close i would reccomend purchasing a yearly Discover pass for $30.00. This is a gorgeous state park.

Lola Lucas

Beautiful place. Great for a day out with the family or camping.

abroham lincoln

Wdfw passes should be the same as discover passes, would not go again. Not worth the 10 dollars and chance of e coli water.

Corrina Kuzmenko

There's some kind of construction going on in front of the bathroom near the water. And there isn't anymore grass.... It smells bad too. It used to be beautiful, now it's just dead and smelly

Adair Davidson

Great group site with its own access, away from other campers

Sarah Hendricks

Awesome place to swim with the kiddos. Parking is $10 though. Free with a discover pass.

Jennifer Lindberg

Our family loves this place, camping, fishing, swimming and the walk around the lake is perfect! Dog friendly too.

sarah ramage

Very beautiful and peaceful. Trails are well maintained and clean.

Teri Anderson

What a beautiful location! For $25 we had electrical and water hookups. The lake has a wonderful circular trail. Gorgeous views in the fall, but dress warm!

Denise Anderson

It is a very quite and relaxing place to go. The one bad part was the bathroom and shower. Not clean and had to pay $1.00 for 6 min of hot water and yes make sure you know when the time runs out. They mean 6 min and bye bye hot water and hello cold water. Boy this time of year not good.

Hue Le

Great place to be. The lake is very nice and small for the family. Lots of trout.

Missy Perry

Beautiful place to camp and the park area was clean and definently well maintained but the bathrooms were pretty gross and you most definently need to bring shower shoes if you want to shower because the showers were disgusting. The price for the campsites that you have to hike into was reasonably priced and required no discovery pass which was awesome. Overall I would definently camp here again.

Char Pogue

Great time. I wish the kayak rental place was closer to the lake.

Josh Kinney

This lake is cool. If it were not full of silt, it would be like 900 ft ive heard. A guess it is a releif tube from when this place was an active volcanic hotbed. Pretty compact little park with a decent amount of hiking trails and a nice horse trail too. I like to jog here a lot. Safe park, sometimes parking sucks and you do need a discover pass, but they have a kiosk here.

K. Thostenson

I rent a cabin here with my little family every year. Very comfortable and affordable. Love the park in all its beauty

Mila Tippie

It was Soo warm. And it has a dock you can jump off of. And it's great for camping

Sharon Nauta

fabulous amenities, clean and close in to the Portland metro area but not too close si you still feel like you're getting away !

Pat Jesson

Had a fantastic hike in gentle rain.

Momentum Gear

Love this park.. could be greener though.

Cherry Wolski

Very nice place to just chill but if your looking for a place to park tend to have to fight your way to one.

Candida KingBird

Beautiful, we BBQ until it was dark outside!!!

Teri Bloomfield

Beautiful campground and lake. It is hard to reserve a campsite on line though.

Celia Lucas

Amazing place. The river was nice and peaceful. Didn't catch any fish but had lots of fun.

Zach Powers

This is a great location conveniently close to the Portland metro. All kinds of amenities, including showers, lots of potable water access, cabins, and RV hookups. Great swimming and sand area for kids at the lake, and easy access for launching kayaks and other small water craft. Nice loop trail around the lake. Quite a few people play music at the park, and it's not the prettiest campground in the NW, but hard to beat for convenience and facilities.

Amanda Adams

Very quiet and serene place during the cold months, though can get crazy busy in the summer. Nice spot to stop to take an easy hike around the lake and on other trails. Has restrooms open year round, as well as camping, fishing, snack bar (not opened in winter), and kayak rentals too.

Heather Manning

The bathroom/showers are nasty. Broken toilets, clogged sink and mold on walls. The camp host left so you have to wait until a park rangers shows up (whenever) to buy firewood. Token machine to get shower tokens wasn't working so again had to wait for the park ranger. Most of the water faucets throughout the park don't work so you have to search for ones that do. Only found 1 so far that works. Campground area for tents is nice.

Kaitlin Lame

The park is nice, but the rangers have no idea what they’re doing. I have an annual discover pass, that I purchased from discover pass online, but the ranger made me pay the $10 day fee for a discover pass because “it isn’t valid unless purchased at battle ground lake.” Which is completely false, discover pass is good for ANY state parks in washington, not just the one you purchase it at. My annual discover pass was current and correct. Do not go to this park unless you are ready to pay extra fake fees. Nice park, small but nice little walk around the lake, not really worth $30 annual fee plus $10 day fees.

Randy Roper

Wow. I was told by a friend to come check out this place. What a beautiful gem. Plenty of people but they were spread out enough. I will be coming back!

stuart smith

Our family enjoys Battle Ground State Park for the most part. But it is often crowded and there is a cost to everything want to enter the park? Discover or day pass want to go on the water $7, want to camp $30+, etc... if you have the wallet it’s a nice place close to vancouver.

Nostalgic Butterfly

Its A great place fur the family!

Alex Allegri

Great little lake to visit on sunny mornings.

tonja valderas

Very nice campground with cabins, boat rentals and playground, PERFECT for kids. And very close to Portland.

Antonio Cervantes

Nice park/lake. Isn't a lot of parking though.

Brian Hildebrant

The staff and crew do a great job maintaining the park. Looking forward to Future trips here and hope there are plans for some type of expansion

David Mitchell

Nice place, small lake. Boat ramp and docks are currently closed for renovations, but no one was working on them, like contractor had quit mid-job.

Glutes McNasty

Had a fun time, the water was nice, there was a disgusting bathroom and it was pretty packed but that's because it's an enjoyable time.

Elsie Medvedev

Lovely place to bring the kids, there is human feices floating around here and there, but it’s super beautiful! My daughter came home with AIDS one time, but my son did catch quite a big fish! Also stop cutting the rope swing down

Jill Wynn

The area is beautiful. The lake is great to look at and fish in, but there is no way I would ever get in it or let my children swim in that water. The ramp access to the water is far from the parking lot and down a large hill. There is a small roundabout at the bottom near the boat launch that is difficult to maneuver.

GL FRANKLIN

Battleground Lake has been warm since I've been visiting over the last 4 years but this year it was very cold, like ice but I love this campground I just didn't swim this year. One star down because the host was not helpful in any way, shape, or form.

Hyades Silva

Beautiful day and lots of people. Great fun!

Tim Steinman

Great place to take the kids, parking fills up quick so get there early. Don't forget to take a walk around the lake on the provided trail.

Ryan F

Good amenities. Nice trails that circle the lake. Nice play area. Good roped off swimming area.

Will Jones

The park is clean quiet and a wonderful place to relax

Elia Mara

This is a nice place to camp with the family and enjoy the environment.

Colten Tidwell

Great place to take the family and hang out for the day. There are several hikes that go around the lake and several places to eat - either under cover or not. If you are thinking about taking the family or just thinking about swimming here in general - the best time to do it is earlier in the summer due to the algae that covers the water after it warms up. There are also several cabins that you can rent as well as the campground. Beautiful place.

Joshua Blair

The new dock and boat launch is up, fished with the kids.

Terry Slack

Went to fish on the new fishing pier and had three teenagers jumping into the water from the pier while we were fishing. Not cool at all. The pier should probably have signs posted to discourage swimming.

Andrew Gee

Beautiful lake and a nice camping experience for kids or ppl that prefer running water/bathrooms and staying close to town!

Brandon Lynch

Great wooded campground with a lake, but it is a loud campground.

Lee

Campsites are clean and have fire pits, picknic tables, water faucet and power outlet. The lake has trails, fishing spots, boat rentals, and sectioned of swimming area. Good place for little kids and grown-ups. Would absolutely camp there again.

Home Base

Awesome time with family. Note: Buy the annual pass its worth it.

Rachel Halls

Very clean and staff poliet and bathrooms very clean .... Minus the girl who cleans bathrooms if you he closed sign is up don't try to take a shower .... She was very short and rather rude as if I incovienced her in some way but using the shower I knocked and even said hello but no answer so I went in to shower and she comes in hello hello its days closed ... She just needed to mop and I waited for her to finish and she seemed behind in her work and was frustrated to have to wait for me to collect my things. Besides that I love it !! 12 hike in site be sure you bring a wagon or a dolly cause they are HIKE IN SITES. if you chose to get one 36 is the closest to parking lot!!!!!

Christopher Villarreal

Nice lake, busy on hot days, get here early for parking, Discovery Pass required, leashed pets friendly.

Cody Roberts

One of my favorite local places to fish

Darrell and Linda Bliss

New pier is really nice

Audrey DeVilling

The main trail is covered in horse poop. Tons and tons of horse poop. Its gross. The campground and lake areas are nice tho. So is the upper lake loop trail.

Ahmad Adi

Beautiful place to visit or camp. The lake is in the opening of an old volcano and circular in shape. It’s surrounded with trees from all sides and there are walking trails around the lake that stretch from half a mile to more than 2 miles. There are horse trails and swimming areas too. The parking lot to the park is a little small, so come early.

Victoria Martin

New docks in progress. Kayak rentals and camping. Easy boat ramp acces for non motorized vessels. Whick makes it pretty quiet and relaxing. Also some pretty big trout in this lake.

Sara Ferrell

Good afternoon jaunt with the kiddos. Not even too busy with the holiday weekend.
