There are actually several different state-owned land parcels here. There is a network of trails here which lead to all kinds of neat features like peaks, unusual wetlands, ponds, and streams. Great fall color, on the early side because it's cold! Beautiful in the winter. Very similar in look and habitat to the deeper parts of the Northeast Kingdom near Island Pond, but a shorter drive from Burlington and Montpelier.

I've come here with family and friends while growing up and after 7 years I've returned to re-explore the landscape with my adult mindset. It's been so wonderful to kayak the lake that I had younger fond memories of and with how naturally clean and quiet it all was. I look forward to the meeting together we have there.

Great place for first time campers. Beautiful views on the pond. Loons singing at night. Wonderful little grill/store nearby. Everything you forgot. Including a nice selection of wine with screw caps so you don't have to use the funky cork screw you have in your pack.

Amazing day trip. Checked out 6 areas in 3 hours. Trails for all levels and activities. We'll be camping, hiking and swimming here more for sure! Nice paved drive too if you just want views but really get out of the car!

Great place for a casual hiking. Several parks in a row, the way to Owls Head Mt and the view of mountain top is extremely beautiful in fall season. But why there are SO many Chinese tourists?

We drove up to Owl's Head parking lot and hiked to the Owl's Head. Great views of Kettle Pond and Lake Groton. The hike from the parking lot is very easy.

Groton State Forest, what a great place to go and commune with nature again.many campsites available where you can go and spend a couple nights either in a tent or small RVs. Nature lovers are going to love this arium many places to go lots of animals small lakes. Many small areas to go kayaking and canoeing.

A gem of the New England outdoors. I came up here after Labor Day to enjoy some pre-season foliage, weather was perfect for mid September. Very few hikers on the trails! My hiking loop was from New Discovery to Groton Lake and back. Trails aren't super well marked at the trail crossings.

Spruce Mountain is a great afternoon of hiking, 2.2 miles up to a beautiful view at the top is always worth it. The trail is rocky but kept in check, wear some heavy boots. A few landmarks along the way include caves, swamps and streams and a very wild and free feeling at the top of the firetower. Great way to spend an afternoon and good for all ages.

Great quiet trails, well marked at every intersection except at the parking area. I hiked along Osmore Pond to Big Deer Summit, then to Little Deer Summit, then back along Osmore Pond to my car.

I stayed at New Discovery state park with my horse. Lovely park but the most valuable thing you need to see, Owls Head! It's the closest thing to heaven! I found the best time to visit Owls Head is around 7 p.m. I like to give kudos to Vermont Horse Council for putting up the round pen panels at the horse camp!

Beautiful area! I have been going to this area my whole life and been on most of the pond/lakes in the area fishing and just having a great time. Owls head mountain has beautiful views and is a very quick and easy hike for almost anyone. Kettle pond has a trail that runs next to the pond also.

We hiked along the rails-to-trails trail. It is a beautiful park with a lot going on - trails, campgrounds, nature center, beach, etc.

went to Boulder beach w the kids. very clean (facilities, beach area. playground and water). kids got popsicles and had an amazing time in the water and playground. black flies decided it was chow down time though BAD about 2 hrs into our afternoon. enough we had to quickly pack up and leave. but thats normal for a park and lake in the woods.... or Vermont in general
