REVIEWS OF Waco Mammoth National Monument IN Texas

Joshua Otteson

Ed was our guide and he did a fantastic job. My wife And i really appreciated all the valuable insight and knowledge that was shared. Thank you for showing us a great time. Knowledge is power.

April Sherman Whitehead

Teachers get a discount on entry. Our tour leader was funny and knowledgeable. The fossils are in a lovely climate controlled building, and I learned a lot. Fun stop in Waco, and a great value.

Chris Hancock

Really interesting to see actual fossils in situ, not something the average person usually gets to see. The best part is the fossil site is air conditioned which is really important in the Texas heat.

Moving on with Old Man River Old man river

This was a pretty nice monument. The guide was knowable and friendly. There were a number of children in the tour group I was in and she seemed to answer all their questions. Sometimes more than once as another child would ask the same questions. The tour for disabled veterans was 4.00 and admission to the park was free. The site closes at 5 p.m. so make sure you are there by 4 p.m. You can see several mammoths in the original spot where they died and one north America camel.

sonavor audio

Fascinating place. It is more than a monument. They are planning more excavating there. The guided tour is good.

Zarah Cejoco

Wonderful historic site of the Columbian Mammoth!! This mammoth is bigger than the ever famous woolly mammoth and it used to live here! The tour/park guide was super informative and answered all questions willingly. It's a great site for any age group interested in natural history. The site has other great features that I won't post about here because it's more amazing to see it in person.

Velcro 1DOG

Easy access off 35. The building where the fossils are located at is air conditioned. We had a blast. Load up the cars and bring the kids. Tour guides are friendly and very knowledgeable.

Parul Kaster

My 8 year old son, my elderly mom and I had a wonderful time. The guided tour was informative and fun. Definitely a place to visit if you can even spare a couple of hours.

Robin Banks

Not too bad, young kids will have to pay attention to learn from guides.

Ana Pape

Really great exhibit. I highly recommend getting a your guide to walk you through both the history of the site, the different fossils, and ongoing research. Didn't know we had mammoths in Texas!

abraham junco

A really neat place to go check out. The guides were very knowledgeable and entertaining. Takes around an hour to see and learn about everything

Vicki Baker

Awesome little gem! Our guide was super nice and knowledgeable! Would recommend to anyone going to Waco. Super interesting!

Aubri Bleacher

This was awesome. A quick stop, but totally worth it. We saw an active dig site with a number of mammoth fossils. Guide was very knowledgeable and had lots of info on the history of the fossils and the locations, as well as having good knowledge of the mammoths themselves. The place has a small gift shop and checkin spot, a few walking paths and the enclosed dig spot.

Jessica Bartolini

This was fascinating! It was especially interesting to see almost the entire mammoth still together and to learn about why this occurred. I recommend a visit!

Paw Pol Bos

Well worth the drive from Houston (with one stop before this). Check the hours since it is not open long or every day. You can see the preserved ancient remains without the glass barrier that is so typical in many museums. Nice quick stop on the way to Dallas.

Pat Lacey

If you have time in your trip, this is a fascinating experience. And primarily indoors time...cool!

Juan Bohorquez

My family and I had a great time. I recommend this attraction to everyone that visit Waco. Is amazing for the kids. My 5 year old son has Down Syndrome and was a little bit over excited so the park ranger guide was very patience and even share a sensory box to help him and have a better experience.

Perry Ashley

The grounds are beautiful including the hiking trails. The staff and tour guides are happy and knowledgeable. The dig site where the bones are, is located inside a temperature controlled environment.

Chris Williams

Actually was one of the best experiences I've ever had. You have to go with a tour guide for the full experience.

Teamharmon Harmon

It is small, but informative. Somewhat interactive. Nice gift shop. They also partner with a zoo. Perfect for younger kids.

Janet Brown

Great tour and friendly rangers. We love our NMs and love learning new things!

Amanda W

This is a really cool 45 min stop if you’re in the area.

Tina Y

Do not miss this site. You get to see the bones close up. Very nice ladies working in the front. They take good care of you. I felt welcome and loved my visit.

Marissa Arrington

The cost was minimal. You can not use your National park pass but it was well worth the cost. We loved being on an actual dig site. Our guide was in a wheel chair, he was very knowledgable. We took a 300 foot walk, then he gave a very informative talk, then we went inside the building. It was built around the dig site. We so enjoyed this. Small children ran around and made lots of noise.

Lajjam Morales

Very good place. No wster or food allowed. Be prepare!

Dawn Dixon

Very educational. Loved our guide. She was not only funny but very knowledgeable.

Eric O'Dell

This is worth the cost of admission if you're traveling through Waco. The tour is rather informative and the staff are friendly. No matter if you're visiting Waco or just passing through and need to stretch your legs. This is one of the more unique things you'll see in the area.

soralino

Interesting, but you do have to walk some to get to the dig site.

Brian Newman

Terrific exhibit and ranger presentation on the mammoth and animal find at this site. Short, brief tour but worth the time. The biggest issue is parking -- very limited, especially at busy times. Site averages 350 people per day but can exceed 800 visitors on busy days.

Rene Casas

If you are going to Waco...this is a mandatory stop you have to do...they preserve the bones so nicely an the tour guides know there history and fun facts...Go support the locals!

Monica Freeman

It was very educational. The volunteer guide was amazing!!! He was very informative! Someone give that man a job and pay him!!!! He deserves it!

Fran Rydzewski

I looked this place up before I took my grandson there and we were expecting mammoths on the March because that is what I've read and he was excited cuz this was his 10th birthday trip and he was very disappointed because the internet gave us wrong information. It's still a very interesting place with a lot of history.

Perri Phillips

So fun! My son loved it. This is a must-see attraction

Mary Delafuente

It's awesome to know about the fossils of a Mammoth and extent animals

Janie Cuellar

Enjoyed walking the trails very much with my kids, (all adults but have the best times when we are all together). The museum was awesome, but the gift shop was very expensive. They do charge for the Mammoth museum so they make good money with that already.

Starline Animations

A very nice experience for people of any age. The tour was short, yet fascinating!!

Tracey Zillman

The ranger who was our guide was so awesome and knowledgeable. This is a must see in Waco! Worth your time especially if you are a archeological enthusiast!

Sabrina Henson

Admission to the area is free BUT YOU HAVE TO BE ON A GUIDED TOUR TO SEE FOSSILS!!! $5 FOR ADULTS, $3 FOR KIDS The area is clean and well maintained. The path way is pretty and shaded. They have trails and picnic tables available. The tour is interesting and informative. The dig site is super neat!!! The gift shop is not very expensive at all.

Jeffrey Dale

Super interesting place with an informative tour. Dig shelter is air conditioned so it's comfortable to visit even during the heat of summer.

Ana Banana

It's a good place for history lovers....but only talks about one specific animal as the main tour. You can go on a hike after.

Ramya Kudva

I thought in the beginning that it would be on a larger area but turns out that its just 3-4 items under 1 roof. But its still worth going. Guides are nice and know a lot. Must visit

Eric H

Wow! This was the coolest place to visit. Extremely educational. Take the time to visit.

Laura Chadwick

Very informing and interesting. I've lived here for more than 30 yrs and had never been before. Our tour guide was very informative and funny. I'll definitely be back!

Linda Brummett

From the time we arrived until the time we left, it was a learning experience! All the staff members were very knowledgeable, and answered every question we had. It is a beautiful place, clean, peaceful. Admission is less than $10! The gift shop is small, but packed with quite a few souvenirs and other items. If you have not been there, I suggest you make plans to go soon! You don't want to miss it!

Kimi P

I am handicapped, and they made sure my visit was a pleasant one by providing me a ride in their cart so I wouldn't have to walk. Very informative about the finding of the mammoths. It was very interesting. I never knew Texas had any. I highly suggest a visit there.

Seth Jones

A nice stop if you're going past Waco. 4 miles from 35! Not a huge place but still nice to have a National Monument close to North Texas.

Sarah K

It's incredibly cool, and very informative. The shelter is well set-up, and our tour guide was fantastic even with being a brand new employee. All the staff was friendly and I will definitely want to return when they resume digging.

D Covin

Went with relatives while on vacation. Was very impressed by the fact that our young nephew was not bothered to visit yet again.

Justin Streever

Awesome place. Definitely a must see in Waco. Tour guide was awesome!

Carlos Gameros

Was a fun stop on our vacation. Los to see and do. Tour was just long enough. Family had fun. I only found 4 camels.

Zaza

5 bucks to get in. You have to be in the tour to see it. It's not big. But worth the money for a 30 min fun time

Anil Maddimsetti

It was a short day trip while I was in Dallas last year. I have to say I loved the town for its southern country charm and super friendly people. I did not know much about the monument as my primary goal to get a stamp, the staff were very knowledgeable and gave a nice overview of everything that was happening there. It was interesting to know that Mammoth National Monument was one of the recent additions to Dept of Interior maintained National Monuments.

Dexter Taylor

Great little tour. Great place take kids and walk from car ride . About 1hr long tour or shorter.

Justin Shields

Amazing place to learn about our natural history. Tons of facts to learn and park rangers are super friendly and knowledgeable. We took our kids their to give them a cool experience but ended up leaving with all of us highly enjoying the visit. Definitely worth the 45 minute guided tour.

Ken K

Fascinating history! Largest concentration of Columbian Mammoths in North America. Ticket to the dig site includes an guided tour by a knowledgeable ranger. You might even be able to talk to the preparator, as she pieces broken mammoth bones together. This place will only get better!

Jane Lins

This is a great place to visit. Our tour guide was very good. Took her time and included the kids. Well worth the stop. Nice place that didn't cost an arm and a leg to see.

Caleb S.

Cool place with some neat mammoths. Some of the tour is outside, but the majority is inside, so be prepared for the weather. There is no water or bathrooms on the tour, so be aware of that, but the tour is something you should definitely do. Guides are friendly and knowledgeable about their site.

Penny Reynolds

Really impressed by this archeological site! Tour guides did a wonderful job and easily answered questions. Highly recommend especially if you are in the Waco area!

Jacob Stout

Had a great time here. Lots of cool history, and the tour was well done.

Suzanne Frazier

Very impressed with Dava's knowledge and obvious enthusiasm for her subject. She did a terrific job of personalizing the tour for her audience. Interesting tour without huge time commitment.

Julia Vandewateringen

Learned a lot. Our ranger was very informative and reallly knew her stuff. Take your kids

Valerie Richards

This was such a pleasant surprise on our road trip from San Antonio to Dallas. We went to Waco to see the famous Magnolia and saw a road sign for a National Monument, well we are suckers for all National Parks and Monuments. We had no idea what we were going to see. It's the newest National Monument and has a relationship with Baylor University to dig and preserve mammoth bones they have found in the area. It's an active dig site and the building they constructed over the dig site is spectacular for viewing. We had an excellent tour guide from Baylor. We highly recommend visiting.

James Zimlich

This was an awesome stop. Small and easily accessible to younger children. The rangers were friendly and knowledgeable. Gift shop was well appointed. We had a great time.

Lori Elliston

Kids ended up loving it! Especially my 7yr old boy.

Melanierose Elizabeth

The Mammoth Monument is a treasure not to be overlooked. It was very well staffed and the ranger was very well informed to answer many questions from the group. The gift shop was small but had a great selection of souvenirs.

Abby Stopka

This was a fun out stop on our way to Austin. The tour had some fascinating information but also was long winded and some of it was unnecessary. Seeing the fossils was pretty neat. My 3 and 12 year old enjoyed it.

Mike Vanderhoff

Great side trip on our way home. Very educational guided tour by Jeremy. This will be somewhere we return in the future.

C.K. Blair

An absolutely wonderful experience of mammoth history. Your annual NPS pass will NOT get you in for free as the only way to see the site is with a guided tour.

Michael Hogge

Awesome journey into this area's past! Great guided tour...Waco is so fortunate.

John Anthony Reyna

I enjoyed the view and presentation by the Park Ranger... very interesting! I think the state needs to do major excavation for more areas for dinosaur remains... I'm glad we got veteran discounts!

Stephen Todd

Nice tour and informative. Short walk. Part of your is air conditioned. Some items you could touch. You actually see the original dig site. Worth the small cost.

Donnie Culp

Awesome place to see woolly mammoths. Grew up in Waco and never knew that there was such a historical place.

teressa isabell

A lot of history about the big mammoths an the Saboertooth Cats .. A lot of history an actual bones that's been discovered an trees that are documented to be some of the oldest on the earth !! Loved it !!

Mark Graham

Interesting place to visit if you enjoy that kind of thing. You must go on the guided tour to be able to go into the dig exhibit.

Charlene Ramirez

I had a great time with my grandchildren!

Conor Runge

Fun, short stop in Waco. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and the dig site was a big hit with the whole family.

Sharon Bates

We really enjoyed the tour. We used the day pass from the library. Our tour guide was very friendly and informative. I love how there was interaction within the group for questions and information. I highly recommend taking the tour, and it's for all ages.

Dustin Pianalto

The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Recommended for kids as well.

Megan Reynolds

Super neat, great for all ages! They're getting a full time archaeologist so in the next year or two there will be even more cool stuff to see!

bouquet d liz

Excellent place for educational trips, historians or History Channel aficionados....loved it! Got a whole tour guide for a small fee...the gift shop EXPENSIVE

DJ L

Pretty cool place. If you are into dinosaur fossils (mammoths mainly), then you will definitely want to stop in here and mark it off your list! Not very large, some trails and a nice enclosed and air conditioned exhibit center. The rangers are knowledgeable and very friendly!

J. Arias

Very interesting and the your guide was very good and funny

Todd Pals

Although the site is not huge this was a very fun and informative stop. For a small fee you can take a half hour tour where you learn about the animals, their history, and see the remains. It is unlike anything we had seen before and well worth the stop. There are also some short trails you can walk to stretch your legs and a picnic area.

Sandra Gonzalez

Totally cool dig site. Not much to do but a good experience. Very small dig site for kids and a sweet tiny store. With lots of cool finds. This place is a must if your driving by it .

sandeep bhat

Small but good national monument. Staff were friendly and knowledgable, and were very happy to share information and answer questions. Viewing original fossils for the first time was a great experience. Jack who was explaining the bones and models outside was good at igniting thoughts, especially in young kids minds.

Chandramouli C S

It’s a very small exhibit and nothing much to see or do around. Exhibit is good but just too short of an experience

Elisse Kenaley

This was an unexpected treasure on our trip to Waco! The tour is well worth the minimal cost and the tour guide we had was fantastic. She did a great job speaking to everyone (all ages) in our group. You only need about 45min-1hr so don't pass it up!

Jeremy Jones

It was educational and interesting. My family and I really enjoyed it. There was a big sandbox full of mammoth and dinosaur bone replicas for the kids to excavate while you wait for your tour. There is also a discount for teachers and military.

Joey Heyder

Not exactly what we thought it would be. Its informative yet not great for little kids. Older kid enjoyed it ok but younger one wanted to talk and see mammoths like at the big museum's. There are none here just so you know.

S. Ross

A great experience for adults and kids. Tour guides love their job and are brimming with excitement.

Rhonda Ostic

The tour guide was boring. We took our kids and she didn't know how to accommodate the tour for children. It's a building don't pay for the guided your just explore on your on.

Karren Cummings

Amazing cant wait to see what else they dig up.

Michelle Zamora

Super fun and educational NPS location. We loved the interactive tent and the volunteers were so nice and helpful. The Mammoths themselves were presented well and on full display in the tour. And there was a super cute mile long trail on the property, which was stroller friendly. Highly recommend!

Riley Bentley

Our Ranger was so nice and knowledgeable! I saw a littl male ranger toy and thought to myself, where are the "female" ranger toys!? I mean, most of the rangers here are females! Let's promote female rangers too! I love all of the fun facts I learned too!

Dylan Phillips

I loved it it was cool but there was too much talking

Heather Andrus

Nice little gem off the beaten path. Knowledgable staff, and very nice to have someone on site working but also open to answering questions.

Kathy Gerdts Norman

Be sure to visit this national monument. Good staff tour. Interesting. Informative.

S KLUCKHOHN

They have guided tours or you can venture on your own. It's neat to see the fossils of a mammoth. They are in the process of digging up more...our guide was so pleasant and so informative.

Josh Wilson

This was a class field trip. The guide was very knowledgeable and very good with the kids. All 6th grade a lower. Answered questions and gave facts in a way they could understand. That being said the actual museum is pretty small and it it is mostly a recognizable mammoth and some other bones. It might not hold the interest of a small child long. Maybe an hour and the longest for anyone.

Nate Alex

Not a huge walking tour. You must pay for the tour. Military discount $4. Overall pretty neat. Who knew camels hung out with Mammoths?

Celena Hebert

What a wonderful stop to make while driving through Texas! Affordable, fascinating, educational, and charming. Our family loved it.

C.J. Short

Great destination with some good walking trails and wonderful tour guides. The dig site is technically still an active one! They are currently working to get a paleontologist so that you would be seeing someone actively working it while taking the tour.

Charles Zwicker

The exhibit was very cool, and the tour guide did a nice job of explaining a lot of the information. The tickets were very reasonable priced, but the website was a bit misleading when it said "free entry". What that means is free entry into the grounds, which basically is the parking lot and gift shop. To view the actual bones, you *must* pay for a tour. Again, the prices were cheap, but the website was misleading nevertheless.

Emily Eisterhold

This was way cooler than I expected, to be honest! My friends and I arrived around 3:10 and took the 3:30 tour with a few other people. The tour guide was so knowledgeable about the site - and about related history. The tour was maybe 45 minutes, and it was well worth it. The fossils are super interesting, and I loved learning about these beasts of our past. Definitely recommend it if you're traveling to Waco!!

J Bueno

An actual national park in Waco. Really informative tour and very knowledgeable park staff. Air conditioned exhibit. Great site to visit!

Dejanira Dawn

Hands down loved this place!! So much cool and interesting facts ! Really happy to hear that they will be having a full time paleontologist by the end of the year/beginning of next year. Definitely stopping by when I'm in Texas again!

Tori Coleman

Amazing if you like elephants, mammoths, archeological stuff. It's free to do a self guided tour, but totally worth the few$$ for the guided tour!

M B

Tour guide Jeremy made our experience pleasant & provided great information. It's a short tour, but worth the time! Great experience for the kiddos.

Krystal Sanchez

Stopped by as part of our road trip. Visits to the actual mammoth site require a tour guide. However, prices are very affordable (see pic). Tours depart every 30 mins. We got there right on time for a tour but decided to wait for the next one in order to give the kids time to begin their Jr Ranger Booklet. This site is a National Park, so I recommend kids grab a Junior Ranger booklet so they can earn a badge at the end of the visit. Kids picked out souvenirs representative of the site. We got a mammoth charm for $3.50, a stuffed mammoth for $7.50, and a mammoth puzzle for $10.50. Make sure kids attempt a potty break before the tour begins. There is a short walk up to the site and the visitor’s center is the only place where restrooms are available. We went on a hot day (mid 90s). Since part of the tour is outside, I recommend dressing accordingly. This is a very informative tour. If you have little ones, I recommend a short conversation about listening carefully and respecting others’ desire to hear the docent.

Azeem Merchant

We had a really good tour of the dig site. Ed and David were very informative and fun. Definitely recommend a visit

Phil Carlisle

Very cool to see and hear about the exploration of a river bed full of fossil remains and Texas history.

Joseph Smith

Well worth the trip if you are in Waco Texas area. There are no other sites that I am aware of like this in Texas this close to civilization. Make sure you arrive before the last tour at 4:30 so you have time to go to the gift shop and get some literature about this dig site. Real neat, you literally see the actual dig site all inside an airconditioned building built to enclose it!

Rose Lynch

What a find!! The world's largest collection of mamouth bones found in Waco, tx... a/c dig site and short path to site. Ask guide to point out each bone area... Ask questions. Only $5 for adults $3 for children... A good 2hours to wander through and learn

Angelia Ford

Glad we found out about this place. Although I have only a general interest in ancient history, I found the visit fascinating, especially the way the dig site has been preserved indoors. The park service guide was interesting and did a great job explaining the remains and the history of the discovery. There is also a nice hiking trail on the grounds. Kids seemed to like it too.

Rebekah Carson

Loved the tour. Learned a lot about the sight and mammoths. Enjoyed the walk outside.

Michael Barron

Most interesting. Docents are very good at explanations. Can be accomplished, with children, in 60-90 minutes. Guided tours every half hour. Rest rooms at visitor center. No food or drinks allowed on tour and bones are fragile and porous. Remains are in situations and you walk above them. Hoping to uncover the many more bones buried beneath the surface. Well worth the stop.

Bijal Patel

It was a great experience...its so worth it...would recommend anyone. This has been my 2nd time and its still so fascinating...

Cindy Cole

This an amazing place. You can see the real bones of mammoths.

Sergio Velasquez

Awesome museum! Great place to see when visiting area

Mike Maldonado

Nice area and staff are friendly. Took a guided tour and the tickets were reasonably priced. The park seems relatively small and despite the activities they are limited. Overall though the family had a good time and learned about mammoths and saw some cool fossils and bones.

Denise Thacker

The park ranger was very informative. Very interesting site.

Stacy White

Iinitially, it was difficult deciding whether or not to go here. I've been to sites where they have found mammoths before and figured it would be a waste of time to go look at dirt where a mammoth had been excavated. We were pleasantly surprised to see actual bones of mammoths and a camel. We had a great time! We did a riverboat dinner cruise as well in Waco. That tied with first on things to do in Waco. Can't recommend this site highly enough.

D LOWE

Nice very short walk to the excavation building. Nice! Good people. Wildlife seen included lizards, hawks, garter snake.

pat zipper

Didn't break the bank to go to enjoyed it it was very informational and Interesting The tour guide and docents were wonderful everyone was helpful and nice

Silver Lion

Is not just bones is history. Tour maybe 40 minute. Great to see

Joan Carlile

I live in and grew up in Waco, so it has a wow factor knowing these were discovered locally. I have been twice. I took my 5 year old grandson during one of the events taylored around kids his age. There is not a lot of hands on. I enjoyed it. He was ready to go within 20 minutes.

Courtney Burney

Made me feel as if I visited a historic part if town. Great place to get out with the kids. Small children I suggest a stroller. Have a cute gift shop. Scenic trail that leads to mammoth dig site

Jeannie Taylor

Very interesting look into the past. The people working there were really nice and knowledgeable. The area the fossils are in is enclosed and air conditioned. There is an easy 300 yard walk to the site.

Mark Garcia

Very I formative ND cool place.

Zac Ramsey

Great to visit if you're in town but not enough to warrant it's own trip.

BoB Barker

Very knowledgeable rangers give you a tour and explain how the first mammoth boomed were found and the stages it has progressed. A must to stop in and see and learn.

Daniel Giavelli

Well worth the visit. I thought it was going to be boring but they made this fun and family friendly. Learned a lot of new information I had no idea about.

Chloe Laster

So cool! Glad we took the time to visit - it was well worth it. :-)

Steve H.

The only way to see the mammoth fossils is with a guide. This tour can take 45 minutes (too long for what is here). You may have to wait for the next tour time. The fossils are well preserved. This is the first whole intact mammoth that I have seen.

Janice Hartgrove-Freile

One of the newest additions to the National Park System, this is a gem. See mammoth fossils in their original archeological locations in an active dig. All this is in a temperature-controlled building. There are also a sabre-tooth tiger tooth and camel fossils (yes, camels started here). Excellent tour- must go on tour to get in building. Low price for tour, just a few dollars (6?) with senior and student prices. Small store with souvenirs, many for kids including mammoth and dinosaur models.

John Hernandez

First time coming here and wow just a beautiful park. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

Steven Pollard

Took my daughter here for her birthday. It's quick and the go over alot. It's not much fun unless they are into the history. She had fun but left wanting more.

Tammy Paules

This place is a great little side trip in Waco. Lots of history! The guides are knowledgeable and engaging. It's about a 2 hour commitment and totally worth it! (Easy walking, nothing strenuous and if handicapped, they will assist.)

Chari Dyer

We loved the experience! Tours begin every 30 minutes, so you don't have to plan your arrival too closely. $5 for a regular adult ticket and you get a great informational tour from a park guide. The tour takes about an hour - less if you don't spend any extra time looking after the tour guide is done speaking. The dig site is in a fully enclosed building and is air conditioned. The entire walk to the building is accessible, with no steps and paved the whole way. They do have golf carts to give rides if needed. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about what the area was like during the ice age. Come with questions - they're good at answering! The fossils are well labeled and the guide will tell you all about them, including speculations about the way the animal died and other information gained by closely examining certain parts of the different fossils. The there are glass panels to look through, so even kids can see well.

Sherri Ruiz

It's very interesting to see the bones of an animal from so long ago!

Joshua Shroyer

The people here are very friendly and nice, the lady at the ticket stand/gift shop especially and the tour guide. It's a short but interesting side trip with a bonus of nice, easy walking trails the kids enjoyed.

Scott D

Beautiful facility with a great display of a working dig. Still in development but well worth a visit. Guides are well informed and enthusiastic about the program. The grounds are nice too and there are spots for picnicing and walking.

google user

Loved our tour guide!! He was so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. This is a must see if you love learning about history!

Caleb Swigart

Very informative tour from Ed. We were amazed at how big these mammoths were and that they were not the wooly Mammoth, which is much smaller. Also, that this is a National Park now, and it wasn't four years ago. The kids seemed interested even though we had to walk for a few minutes and wait in the heat.

Jax Weaver

Love this! Seeing a real dig site is amazing! My daughter loved doing the Jr. RANGER program too!

Skinner Family

Inexpensive and nice. Great information and a caring staff.

20.Nine.20 Offroad & Performance

Things you get to see are pretty cool. It just wasn’t what i had in mind.

Benjamin W. Worgull

Unfortunately we went when it was raining and some things were closed, but the advantage was a private tour that was informative and unique. Would recommend checking out if you're in the area and a history/science buff

Ramsay Snow

Very unique place. Especially if you love nature and archeaology. The mammoths all died in the same place at the same time.

L Smith

Our tour guide was informative and passionate. It was about 95 degrees when I went, but the walk from the ticket center to the fossils is short with only about 12 of the 40 min taking place outdoors. The fossils are housed in an air-conditioned area. Interesting, informative facts, and well-preserved bones. Admission is $5 with discounts for kids, seniors, students, and military. Great bargain!

Tim Perkins

Well worth the effort to see a piece of amazing history. To see something so old and well preserved is mind boggling! Put this on your To Do list right now while you are in Waco!

M R

Fabulous! Take the tour!! So worth your time to see....sad that they aren't doing more digging in this area!!

Luli Arellano

Waco Mammoth National Monument is a cool place to stop by. We were passing by and stopped with our kids. Our Park Ranger was very informative and the tour took about 45 min. If you are in the area it is worth going.

Leslie Silvestriz

Staff is really friendly. Very clean. The history and knowledge of the tour guide was awesome. It is a really good experience for everyone in the family.

Ingrid Leon

We really enjoyed the place and saw the bones of the mammoths, however for us that we are from Colombia was difficult to understand. I think this place is very touristic, so I think would be good to improve that part. Maybe talk in slow speed.

Austin Ng

Recently elevated to "National Monument" status, the Waco Mammoth site is a must see in Waco. You'll learn a lot about Colombian Mammoths and other prehistorical animals discovered here, and the tour guides are very friendly and knowledgeable.

Rod Ohmes

Cool place to visit. Guided tour is $5, but is worth it to see the actual fossils in their original locations. The guide we had was knowledgeable & friendly. Would recommend if you've got an hour or two to spare while in the Waco area.

Bruce & Jeanne Howard

Great place to go and take a short tour, very interesting
