REVIEWS OF San Antonio Missions National Historical Park IN Texas

Denise Naylor

Really neat place. Take the free guided tour

MM Sodich

Great history site! This is how the Alamo should have been maintained. Instead the Alamo was ruined by commercialism. San Jose allows one to see how the mission worked and still maintains a sacredness.

Brandy Barton

It was really neat. We easily spent 2 hours here. So much history and beauty at this mission.

shelly stelly

We love nature and national park. Mission in SA has both. You can take whole family driving the car and following the trail. Also you can walk along the river for excersises and history. Standing in front of buildings of 300 years ago, I feel all these pioneers devoured religion beliefs and passion. Also I understand the hardship they are facing, how smart they are fully using the environment for their mission purposes.

Daniel Lovorn

Take a bike down the san antonio river you won't be disappointed

Myron Dennis

We bought a pass on the VIA bus so we could hop off and on to visit all four missions. Of the four missions, only Mission Concepcion and Mission San Jose have information centers. If you have the National Park Passport book be sure to stamp your book with all four Mission stamps at one of these, because Mission San Juan and Mission Espada do not have a visitor's center. Missions San Jose and Concepcion are active Churches with regular services. These two are also the most well preserved. It is interesting to see the early history of the area and how life was over 200 years ago.

Jannette vargas

Especial place you can't miss , enyoy beautifull conservation historic and religious.

Anthony Darity

Visit ALL the missions. If you're going to skip one skip the Alamo. Take mission road or the mission trail. The scenery and river along the way make it worth while.

ERIC MOGENT

I drove by & saw this building, which I really like. I'm into historic buildings and thing and I think it will be a nice excursion for anyone to visit.

Paul Frechette

First Catholic mission in San Antonio, well preserved inside. Mariarchi music for the Mass.

David Cote

Go for a walk or bike ride with your family. Nice safe area off the road with parking in a quiet area usually away from all the tourist and touristy spots. Parks in the area are very accessable and have plenty of places for picnics and such.

dolores paniagua

Great place to go. Enjoy all of our City. San Antonio, Texas U S A.

danny martinez

It was ok. Not fantastic. I kind of expected alot more. It takes an appreciated eye for this part of history for me. Thats just a personal opinion.

Jaz R

A very tranquil and peaceful destination indeed. My family and I enjoyed every minute being there. It was great learning about Texas history and seeing how people lived back then. It was perfect and definitely the best part of our trip to San Antonio

Jonathan Costa

Interesting look into the history of San Antonio and a the missions along the river. Very informational exhibits throughout.

Damn Dacy

Always cool to see any of the missions, great people that knew the history and were friendly

Ray Nelson

I was very happy to get to experience these places with my daughter. We deeply enjoyed the experience and urge you to do the same.

J.WestSide Silva

It's a great place to get out of the house, and learn a little history about our mission and at the same time spend family time together.Or with you live one.

Olivia Beltran

Wonderful place. Great history. It's good 2 take children n teach them the history of our being here. Human kind. Of all types. We all red blooded. We are all the same. From different areas. The same, as our creator made us.

Thom Martin

The place is enormous in size you would have to spend the whole day at each one of them and there's five and in the trail but you better bring your hiking boots it's going to be a long walk

EBA Ford

The pride of San Antonio Texas is well taken care of and VERY beautiful! The company Block by Block works very hard to keep our Missions very clean. The signs placed throughout the Mission Trails are very informative with the history of the Missions. There are water fountains (for dogs too), picnic tables, benches, trash cans, and plenty of shade throughout the area to enjoy the trails. Better to go early in the day because the heat here can become intolerable. Native San Antonians are very friendly and love to help.

Asya Jones Carr

First time here. It was nice but to hot to enjoy.

Shane J

Great to see all the missions and not just the Alamo. It is neat to see all the different missions and how the differed from one another. Taking the bus to each on was easy and affordable at only $2.50 for the entire day. The Park Rangers and staff were all great to talk with.

Scott L

Was there with the family and had a really good time stepping back in time.

Daniel Soulia

This is a really cool national monument. Don't miss if you're in the San Antonio area.

Brenda Robertson

We went to two of the four on the Spanish Mission trail, and were not disappointed. The Mision La Espada is the oldest and the southern most on the trail of missions. The National Park has a website from which you can hear audio descriptions at each of the marked sites at the mission. Alert! The restrooms have much to be desired, and the visitor center wasn’t even open. The other one we visited was the San Jose mission which has an excellent visitor center and small museum. Be sure to watch the movie that gives an excellent history of the missions and the impact on the indigenous peoples of the region. The San Jose mission has the famous “Rose Window” which is worth seeing.

Father Neil Bakker

Very cool! Jesus is there in the Blessed Sacrament! (...or, at least they still have a sanctuary candle burning, which I assume means Jesus is there.)

Sandra Betancourt

I went there like all skeptics trying to see if it was true that they pushed your car, and it happened! It was me and my 2 kids it was such an awesome experience, will do it again!! If you are in San Antonio you have to experience this! If you don't know what I'm taking about search the school bus that got hit by train in San Antonio, it will tell you all the history there, it's spooky but true!

Queta Gaeta

The Espada Mission is beautiful. It's like stepping back in time. You can walk around & see the old buildings made of stone just beautiful. The church is small the benches all wood I am 64 & they are the same ones that I remember as kid when I use to go to mass their.

Courtney P

The Ranger lead tours are great and the mission is beautiful!

Jay Torres

Pretty impressive historical ride we had, it was fun and educational.

Jeff Phelps

The missions national parks were fantastic. Visited with my 13 and 7 year old. Both earned their junior ranger badges. Jr ranger activity book was well done and bridges both age groups. Took the bus from downtown San Antonio. Found travel convenient and easy to navigate. Would recommend as the best way to get between the missions.

Frances B

Has tours from park rangers that are free and a great way to learn more. Our tour guide was wonderful! I have paid for tours that weren't as educational and entertaining.

Juliana Dominguez

We bought a pass on the VIA bus so we could hop off and on to visit all four missions. Of the four missions, only Mission Concepcion and Mission San Jose have information centers. If you have the National Park Passport book be sure to stamp your book with all four Mission stamps at one of these, because Mission San Juan and Mission Espada do not have a visitor's center. Missions San Jose and Concepcion are active Churches with regular services. These two are also the most well preserved. It is interesting to see the early history of the area and how life was over 200 years ago.

Robert Lotspeich

Cool place to learn some amazing history. This place has over 300 years of history and is is a world heritage site. I enjoyed the ranger talk there, as it was a wealth of information. Definitely something to enjoy when you're in San Antonio and looking for history

Eddie Cruz

Beautiful; especially if you're into history. I'm so thankful for the preservation.

RAJ Dollars

Very nice historical area. Great place for a morning walk or bike ride. The grounds are very well kept, very clean.

Karol Gawrych

You’ve likely heard of the Alamo, but less attention is given to the neighboring missions within the San Antonio area. They are no less impressive and in fact offer more insight into the past. They are better preserved than the Alamo and you will find additional peace and quiet here as compared to the Alamo given its popularity. There is a hike and bike trail, but we would recommend driving to each.

AjLuna1319

Astor if family friends and loved ones here. Sad place to be tho

Joseph Stiles

If you get the chance to do the entire trail and see all the missions it is very cool. The history behind all of these places is very fascinating. If you if you a National Park Ranger ask them questions because they are full of knowledge here.

Woodman Bull

The Missions are the best of both worlds. If you are a National Park geek, museum goer or history buff, visit them all! They are easy to find, near one another, beautifully restored and manicured, and highly informational. Not so much? Just go to the San Jose Mission and the NPS Visitor Center. The museum is small, the gift shop is also, and that’s where you “see the movie.” And the movie, around 25 minutes, is well done. We visited the Alamo in the morning, drove to San Juan and decided to see the next two on the way out of town to the south. Wish we had hit Concepcion also but didn’t want to circle back. Now, I cannot say I visited them all . But each provided good history and a nice, easy walk. Recommend!

Crys Murphy

I love the history in this place. It is very well-kept.

Chantu

Love this place the Church, my husband said he had a spiritual wakening but for some reason he was mad in this picture lol,,very Beautiful place to visit..

Jeff Bassie

Fantastic!!!! Spring or fall are great times to visit and explore. NPS staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. This is truly one of our historic treasures, and you'll never find a better value (it's free!) Remember to be respectful in worship areas and graves. Also, try putting down your phone and just soaking in the history. There are already millions of pictures on the internet, and yours are unlikely to be groundbreaking. Just enjoy the moment! :)

Victor Rodriguez

Beautiful place with a lot of history but you need to read about it not just look

Robert Smith

A must visit tour. Driver was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with information on the Missions.

John Swan

Interesting place gives you a feel for how they loved at the time of its occupation

M K

We bought the VIA tickets and visited ask the missions. You could walk or bike along the river as well. It's a must see when in the area. A real fine piece of history.

Michelle Jones

The missions were so interesting! Its free and worth the visit. Take a tour or look around at your own pace. Admire the buildings and beautiful churches that are still standing from so long ago.

Sonia Puetz

Loved it!!! Will be back soon. Bring water and food if you plan on going to all the missions. Very beautiful

Blas Garcia

So small in area, but so much history and questions! Beautiful place!

j b

Great place to spend a lazy afternoon day. Could've been a 5 star rating had those Conquistadors known about refrigeration. Just kidding I'd give the mission parks a 6 star if I could!!

Caleb S.

Awesome place! Rangers were not super helpful in the visitors centers but the ones leading the tours were.

Thomas Rocha

I love coming to the missions, and especially like mission San Jose. I'm in love with all the old mesquite trees, and the giant courtyard makes me dream of building a big country home in the same style.

Craig Sprout

We arrived at San Jose a bit before Mass was getting wrapped up. As we milled around outside, the choir was winding down, and from within, I heard this amazing solo trumpet. I was half-convinced it might be the archangel Gabriel himself. I had a change to visit with the trumpeter after Mass, and complimented him on his skill and the acoustics. He replied, "It's as close as I'll get to the metaphysical." I couldn't disagree. He said, "We're here very week. Stop on by." And you know something, I think I just might.

Tanmayee Patnaik

I love that San Antonio has such a rich history. Nice trails for a walk around one of SA's missions. A must -visit in San Antonio.

Becky Rodriguez

Family history..love these beautiful historical landmarks!

Susanne S

Beautiful piece of finely preserved Texas history. Walking thru this historic icon is absolutely breath taking

Christian Perring

It was pretty. In its own way.

Jon Henderson

Great site! The Alamo gets all the hype because of its historical significance to Texas' independence. This is an overlooked gem that has not been destroyed by war, but rather maintained by the mission to a great degree. Built in the 1700s, this mission also holds a valuable place in the history of the settlement of Texas. A testament to Spanish engineering and ingenuity of the 16th century. 5 stars.

Lea Anne Iles

This park was beautiful. We visited 4 missions using our bikes to pedal the Mission Trail. If you go while the weather it hot, take more water than you think you'll need...you'll be glad it's available towards the end of your ride! The bike path is paved and runs along the river. Give yourself time to enjoy the splendor of nature as you pedal. We took bike locks, which allowed us to park our bikes and walk around the various mission parks. If you visit on Sunday morning you will hear church services being held inside the missions. I'm glad we chose to see the missions via the bike trail - if you are able, I highly recommend you consider doing the same. You will see a part of San Antonio many miss when visiting.

Thomas O'Brien

The Park is one of my favorite places in San Antonio. The Grounds are quiet and serene, as if the inhabitants had just walked away, and the big city had not arrived. Park Rangers and volunteers lead informative tours, sometimes with demonstrations (have you ever thrown an arrow with an atlatl?). My first visit to Mission San Jose was in 1950, as a second-grader. I never tire of that beautiful historic place, and I learn something on every visit.

Louise Archambeau

Loved all the Missions. If you are on a tight budget and time be sure to visit all the Missions. Check out history. It is the best. San Antonio is full of history and most of it is free. The River Walk is great. Take your camera and take pictures instead of buying souvenirs. Easier to get home also.

John Anthony Reyna

These Franciscan missions are beautiful... if you have the time to watch the movie at the theater inside the souvenir shop... spend hours and admirer the architecture of the day when they were built.

Leticia Garza

Beautiful and wonderful place to see n walk around very beautiful sight Historical place

Jeff Griffin

My wife and I have been to the Alamo but decided to mission hop And see the other 4 missions. We had fun and learned a lot of history. There are some very nice trails and parks along the way. It was nice to learn more about what was going on away from the Alamo that doesn't get talked about much.

Shiv Ganesh

Great to visit. It's a collection of old churches with yards that used to be villages back in the day. It really adds to the vibe of the city. It may not be too fancy or colorful, but there is still something cool about them. Definitely reccomend when visiting SA.

Matt Foust

Beautiful must see if anywhere near San Antonio! History and beautiful scenery are a great combination. Don't miss this or the other missions around San Antonio.

Holly Evans

Don't go in July! Way too hot. But would be beautiful in fall or early spring. Definitely would go again.

MrPep469

We are here to enjoy buelitas company and let her watch us be us knowing that she is always with us.. ♡♡♡♡♡♡

Jason Brown

Queen of the Missions indeed! Mission San Jose was a great experience with fascinating history. A must see!

Patrick Harper

We love going here. Best tourist spot in San Antonio. Real History!

clayton blankenship

Loved it! Great restoration and preservation of it's history. I also seen people doing yoga in the court yard. The grass could have been mowed as it was a bit tall. Instead of a foundation of a work shop...i would have rather seen a rendition of what the natives lived in outside the walls.

Brianna Scott

Sad and interesting information about how the Native Americans were converted to Catholicism. The areas are neat. The grounds are beautiful. We rode the Mission trail on bikes which I'd recommend. My 8 year old was able to ride from Blue Star to San Jose with no issue.

Frank Baik

Loved my visit. Lots of history, great architecture, art, holy site

JOSHUA SMITH

Great stop. The movie was very informative. And the Rangers were helpful

Beatriz Perez

Lived in SA all my life, in this area to be exact. Moved to the north and ( not that I have anything against it) but i missed being able to come to this park often. Its full of history and beautiful trails with churches too! A must see!

Sherridan Franklin

I had a blast wandering through the missions. I loved it!

Steve Hazlehurst

The scale of the place, and the quiet ambience. Lost in photos and reading.

Warren Jordan

Wonderful park, visit 5 missions 4 of which are still active. Learn Spanish, Mexican, Indian, and Texas history along the Mission Trail. We travelled to the first three by the excellent Viva Bus which costs $2.75 for unlimited rides on Bus #40 to get to these sites. Beautiful sites, worth the visit. It's really not a place for young children. It's a great places for those who have a love of history. Other than the bus ride it's completely free. The church and Mission is active.

Matt Bennett

Great way to learn about the missions before going to see the Alamo.

Kimberly Bishop

Best first date ever.... Many memories made...

Kristine Soto

If it wasn't so hot out, we would have done more exploring, but my kids were getting antsy. Beautiful place and I look forward to returning again some day!

Rudy Trevino

Very beautiful church and the grounds are very well kept! Only downside... church was not available for Holy Thursday. Reserved for someone's event. Really? It's "Holy Thursday"! Who reserves a whole church during Holy Thursday when people are trying to visit the seven churches during their pilgrimage? Not planned out very well if you ask me.

Bobby Howard

Hidden gem, this location is perfect for walking around and great photogenic area

James Jackson

There's some really interesting historical stuff to see, and it's totally free!

Dallas Thompson

Enjoyed the area. Visited all the missions.

Jennifer King

The park service provides a very informative and interesting tour through the grounds of this site. Much more to see and much less crowded than the Alamo. We did only Mission San Jose. Would have gone to see the relatively well preserved church at St. Clementine, but Sunday services prevented.

Krystin Korinek

Very neat place to visit if you like history. they are doing their best to preserve what's left.

Normal Man

Best example of a mission in San Antonio. Park Rangers give short guided tours, and even has working mill.

Juan Lima

This was a much more relaxed atmosphere than the Alamo which was packed full of tourists. Had a more leisurely stroll here and visited the barracks. Unfortunately the souvenir shop was closed during our visit. Plenty of historic significance and a place to visit in San Antonio.

Craig Noble

Family has a good day. Went to the mission San Jose and was blown away by the visitor center. The kids loved becoming junior rangers. The park rangers were nice and knowledgeable while the grounds were in great condition.

Angela Ferr

My favorite part of our trip to San Antonio. So much history here and absolutely beautiful missions. For those that are in shape, you can bike to all of the missions using the bcycles. They have a station for them at every mission. What I did was paid for a 24 hour bike pass for 12.00. biking there is also a great way to see more of the city you wouldnt have seen in a car. Make sure to bring sunscreen and a snack.

C Hummons

Beautiful place with so much history. I just found this place online and drove out to visit. Wasn't crowded, great scenery, didn't a lovely day here

Ray Warren

Watch the video at the Visitors Center. It is very informative about the reasons the missions were created.

Gilbert Salas

If you love historical places you will love this place.

Barnabas Kneill

We came on a Sunday morning in June and I would recommend that as a good time. There were few people there and the heat was tolerable in the morning. There is no fee to enter (donation boxes in several places), ample parking in the morning and helpful NPS staff around. Both the NPS and the Church have air conditioned gift shops. There are restrooms, and the site seems accessible. I loved that the church still holds mass ; we were able to listen to the hymns being sung from outside. We were told that if you arrive at the right time, visitors are welome to the service. We were a few minutes too late, and didn't want to wait until the noon service.

Ted Sorrells

Despite living in Texas all of my life and visiting the Alamo several times, I only recently learned about the other four Spanish missions along the San Antonio River. This is a MUST SEE. They are each only a couple of miles from one another and they really help you complete the picture of what mission life looked like 300 years ago.

Kimberly Pandil

All the missions are free! What a great way to spend the day.

Kevin Jones

Worked here as a seasonal park ranger back in 1991. I always find myself returning to visit. The new, to me anyway, visitor center at San Jose is exceptional. All four missions have a unique charm and story to tell. I can easily lose myself just wandering around the grounds. The rangers are always friendly and helpful.

Carl J Carlin

The San Antonio Missions have been maintained and restored to resemble the original structures built by Spanish Colonists. Mission San Jose shows what the original mission compound might have looked like. The high stone walls, gates and defensive positions surround the church sanctuary, convent and living quarters. The church still hosts regular religious services and the water powered grain mill is activated for demonstrations. Admission and parking are free. A powerful glimpse into colonial history.

Tim Darsey

I began my visit at the Visitor's Center located near Mission San Jose. There's a short film presentation that gives you background on the missions and the history of the area. I also took the short guided tour led by a Park Ranger. It was free and informative. After the tour I explored the grounds on my own before driving the short distance to the other missions. The brochure available at the Visitor's Center has a map that will guide you. I highly recommend visiting these historic monuments which will give you a small insight into the founding of New Spain, Texas and the southwest.

He Said She Said

If you plan on visiting the area the missions are a must see. We both truly enjoyed the beautiful landscape and the history lesson we received from the amazing volunteers. These are still free and very well kept/maintained so make sure you donate! If you found this review helpful please give us a thumbs up and follow us around the US reviewing different locations. Thank you!

bonnie joines

I have visited the various San Antonio Missions several times over the last 40 years. I was happy to see the recent updates, including paved parking, wheelchair friendly entrances and paths, and public restrooms. Several buildings have been conserved/stabilized since my last visit (a decade ago). A beautiful look at some amazing history.

Kate Powell

This place is beautiful. It’s tucked away in Southtown- I can’t believe I hadn’t been here to visit before. It was a great chance to learn more about the history of Texas and the missions. It was very peaceful and clean. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable as well!

Franklin Naval

A UNESCO World Heritage Site worth visiting. Loved the free tours that the rangers give. Also they have a free movie theater that shows how Mission San Jose came about, how their inhabitants lived and how the region developed over the years due to the missionaries influence.

Thomas Miller

Don't miss this absolutely fantastic tour. Do it on your own so you can take time and meander and imagine. Start early at Espada and work towards downtown doing 4 in one day. You can follow the Mission Trail. Save the Alamo a separate day. Go slow and capture all the rich history.

Patricia Sierra

The missions take you back through time and you realize how amazing the people were during those times.

Bonnie Bennett-smith

Very interesting and historical. Helps give you a sense of what early life before Texas became a state

Renee KH

Its so wonderful these missions have been preserved has an important part of San Antonio, Texas, & U.S. history.

Sid Casas

Spanish historical landmark, San Jose Mission in San Antonio Texas. The largest landscape beautiful and enormous make you proud to be Tejano. With the Catholic Church doing regular Mass.

Cesar Gutierrez

Great place to explore with the entire family bring your own bike the trials are beautiful the Missions with alot of historical value.

Mary Toth

The park was surprisingly larger than I had anticipated and is maintained beautifully; historical information well presented via short movie; and loved the architecure of the church! But underwhelming when compared to Basilicas in Europe!

Clarke Waldon

Wow. What an amazing place! History preserved for us to enjoy here and now. If you get anywhere near this place you shouldn't miss out on a tour.

Alex Gruzs

Always a pleasure seeing the Alamo one of Texas’s greatest features

Mary Alice Cantu

Nice place to visit. Either for a nature walk or visit one of the mission San Antonio has to offer.

Pam Morgan

So much beauty and history. The staff takes so much pride keeping history alive!

Brian Spotts

Such rich history! Friendly staff. The videos was very sad and informative.

Steven Kosmicki

Very beautiful historical place. I really enjoyed the beautiful chapel and well maintained grounds surrounding the area.

Craig Simpson

Great examples of Spanish colonial architecture. Note that each mission is in a different location, so you'll have to drive a little ways to the individual missions. I also want to point out that, while the park's website says they're open from sun up to sun down, many of the actual buildings are locked up at 5pm. We were only able to visit a couple missions before they started closing down.

Alejandro Barrios

Such an amazing historical place to walk through and try to imagine all the people that lived inside those walls where the church is held. Flowing water and old 1700s architecture and ovens throughout the property.

Kristina Stefanos

Cool place to walk around with the family and it’s free. Definitely a must for anyone interested in historical sites!

Chris Rizzo

Had more fun than I anticipated. I learned a lot and it had some great gift shops as well.

Bob Ehr

Did not know what to expect before I arrived but I found it interesting and wonderfully preserved. It really showed the hard work and dedication of mission life and the challenges it experienced.

Grace Moreno

If you like history, this is a must. Take an afternoon to drive to the various missions, many of which are active parishes, and learn the history of the Spanish in the area. Of course, the most well-known is The Alamo but Mission Jose is much larger and Mission Concepcion is the most beautiful.

Sarah Lopez

Great place to just roam around and feel the outdoors.

Zach Tichelaar

A great piece of history tucked away in San Antonio. Their rangers are friendly and knowledgeable. They have self guided and guided tours. I thought they did a great job with their boards and I formation that they have around the mission. Each one talks about the history as well as a quote about the mission which was a great touch. Great stop if you’re looking for some nice history

Tammy Ashworth

Honestly we came here because we were in Austin and needed the sticker/stamp for our National park book. We pull into the parking lot and I was thinking "what the heck am I getting myself into." I am not very religious and not a fan of history. We start walking to the entrance and I was just amazed! Beautiful... beautiful and more beautiful! Learned things I never knew before being catholic, had a fun time learning history and just could not get enough. So glad we stopped and looked around.

John Myers

Can't beat a trip to the missions. Grounds could be kept a bit better, but hey, it is what it is.

Jose L Rodriguez

Mission reach area is coming along nicely! I'm glad that the city is making the area along the river as close to natural like they are!

Russell Oldmixon

Love Mission San Jose. When visit SA this World Heritage site is a must. If you live in SA and have never been shame on you

Justin Poenisch

Authentic and lots of freedom to roam and have fun. Check out the church!

Edelmira Cortez

This is the 5 time we came to these missions and I never got tired if walk around their mission. We love this place and we will come back again

Homer Rodriguez

Every it's good and beautiful nice great go Spurs go thanks

Angie Rigg

An amazing walk through & experience for a no cost history lesson. Accessible for children & handicapped alike. The terrain is rough for a wheel chair but doable. The scenery is picturesque. Many birds, flowers & wildlife. This was such a gem. The statues were intriguing and had a mysterious allure. Definitely a must see!

Jose Perez

This is a great place for a bike ride with the kids. Not to mention its beautiful.

Pat L

Our ranger who gave the tour was super funny and informative. So much to learn, too bad I already forgot most of what she say. ;-(

Alex Villafranco

Awesome history lessons. Great architecture and ruins. Check it out

Jackie Rodriguez

It was nice and clean and they are very helpful and they show u they care and the people are loved

Kristie Mitchell

I love visiting the missions in San Antonio. The parks employees are always nice and helpful. They've done an excellent job preserving the history of San Antonio.

Jill Stanley

This place was absolutely amazing. I took a one-hour Ranger guided tour and learned so much about the history in the people that started the missions it was such an informative tour and the Rangers were so passionate about their park. The structures are in remarkably good condition. If you are in San Antonio and looking for something to do I highly recommend checking out the mission San Jose.

Joey Carreon

Its like going back to the past and seeing the likes of how where the times being under the Spanish regime.

Mike Foster

I much preferred this historical site to the Alamo. The crowds were smaller. The site was bigger. The mission is in much better condition. The church is still active and is quite beautiful. The rose window is an amazing site to behold.

Sandy Guerrero

Had a good time w Zoila Freire.

Jason Fair

These sites were beautiful. It's a bit of a trek as they are spaced all over. You can drive to some, but it might he best to take the bus to others. Even with the government shutdown, we could visit them as they were still functioning churches.

Richard B

Wonderful historic site but needs something to make it a fun visit

Marty Autrey

Worth the trip. Visitor center has a good film. It was incredibly hot the day I went and only visited one. Next time I plan on using the river walk to hike or bike!

Marlene Handly Stack

I love history. Beautiful .

Junaid Channa

Awesome place to visit and is a must if your visiting San Antonio! Lots of history. Kept as close to the original as possible. Can get a little hot so pls dress appropriately! The gift shop is interesting... staff are friendly. Would I go again certainly:

Kimberly Gonzalez

Very beautiful. Very peaceful. Took a tour with the park ranger and it was very informative.

nadine braunfeld

San Antonio Missions Park is a Must See for all aged when you are in town. You can see and learn about the history of Texas; which used to belong to Mexico. The Spanish brought over missionaries for conversion. Missions were later used as forts, shelters, markets and homes for the multiple cultures that passed through. Truly a melting pot of cultures and nationalities. Quite ironic that Trump chose Texas border to preach uneducated, ignorant, discriminatory, inflammatory anti immigrant policies. If it werent for the original residents & then waves of immigrants from Europe; most cities would not exist!!

Keith Barlow

Aiming to visit all the missions. All have their own stories to tell. Another free admission

Mark Craig

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great tourist attraction. Definitely worth seeing.

Brian Lam

Very neat site to visit. Lots of parking. There were some photographers taking photos there as well. Looks like a nice location to do so. Not too crowded when I went in the late morning.

Y K

A beautiful old mission building, that carries with it lots of historical stores.

AMM

Awesome. Worth Visiting every time. Took wife on electric scooters from river walk area. It's very close and weather was great. Love the amount police patrolling area.

Mary Friesen

We've been to all but one mission in California, so when we found ourselves in San Antonio for work, we had to go see them. This is a lovely national park system. Highly recommend to walk or bike it.

Paula Funkhouser

Great piece of history. Wish there was more to see inside. Beautiful grounds.
