These are our absolute favorite escape rooms! The puzzles are extremely well thought out and match the theme of each room perfectly, and each room is wonderfully detailed (think movie-set like detail). On top of the awesome rooms, the staff could not be friendlier and really get you into the themes. We recently had friends visiting and after finishing some more "basic" rooms near Boston, decided to make the drive to Rhode Island to visit escape rooms that we knew would exceed our expectations. We 100% recommend Lock & Clue for both beginners and more experienced players (the success ratings are very accurate!).

Very highly recommended whether you're an experienced escape room player or just trying it out. The price here is higher than some others in the area but the amount of effort the staff puts into the the experience and the quality of the rooms makes it well worth the money. My wife and I have done two rooms here with a group of our friends. The Inheritance and The Vault. Both were very well done and the staff clearly puts a lot of work into making the experience smooth and work toward a them and story.

We did the Vault escape room for my Dad's 60th birthday and had a great time! They were accommodating for us being a little late as well which was a nice bonus. Would definitely come back again! The proximity to Providence and all the restaurants there means it's easy to make a day of it.

This was my first escape room experience and I can say that I'll be back for more. The staff was very helpful and were genuinely interested in making the experience great. We went with the green room since it was rated as a beginner/intermediate room. Our team of 4 managed to escape with over 15 minutes to spare. They did offer a couple of hints and helped us with a lock that was being difficult even though we had the correct code. It was fun and did require everyone to work together. I can't wait to try the harder rooms.

Unimaginative with shawty construction. Rude and unprofessional staff. I’ve been to a few room escapes and this one leaves a lot to be desired. It’s not terrible, but not worth the money. Update: thank you for confirming the poor quality of craftsmanship involved in your rooms and unprofessional nature of your staff. Guidance of using only “two fingers” and exerting no force were followed and your room fell apart before you stormed into the room throwing a temper tantrum like a child. You didn’t kick us out, we left. And I could never advise anyone to visit your establishment. Dropped to one star.

This was my first time doing an escape room and I was nervous trying the sorcerer room(I was with a group that has done many before). My group did not finish, but we had a blast and made it to the last room. I would reccomend this location to anyone wanting to try out an escape room!

I have never written a review on anything before but this place blew me away so I had to. When I was checking this place out I thought it was odd that the worst review was 4 stars. Now that I did "The Cellar" I get it. My experience wasn't just good or great it was pretty much perfect! I was drawn in by the fact that they do privet booking but since there site doesn’t show pictures of the actual rooms I wondered if this was to make up for below average decor. I couldn't have been more wrong! The Cellar was one of the most immersive rooms I have ever done. It was challenging without hurting the flow and the hint system never broke the feel of the room which I find to be rare. The staff was great too! The lady who checked us in got the GM to incorporate an inside joke into one of our hints which was a hilarious moment! I could say more but I know I don't always read long reviews myself so I will leave it at that.

Very fun and challenging puzzle rooms. Well worth the price of admission. Lockers on location for phones and valuables, friendly staff, and different puzzles each time. Second time missed my scheduled room but staffed where very friendly and simply let us go into an alternative puzzle.

We did the vault so it was a bit too complicated for 13 year olds maybe an easier one would have been a better choice but the kids have been talking about it all week!

My family of 5 went and we successfully escaped the green room. It was all of us, our first time doing an escape room and this was a great first experience. The staff was helpful to keep us moving along, but not too helpful, which was a good thing. They gave extra clues when we were missing them, but not too many. You really need to read the clues and figure out what each and every word on the clues mean. If you actually did that, you might need no hints from the staff.

We had my 8 yr olds Birthday party here and it was amazing. The staff was extremely helpful and patient. One of our guest was running late and they were very patient and even waited to start the game. The party room is large and they are not breathing down your back, they just let you enjoy your party and company. Everyone had a great time. Having done 40 different escape rooms accross the country, Lock & Clue has been my favorite! This place goes above and beyond to create an outstanding experience in every way! Aside from having a super friendly staff & great customer service (shout out to Trey!), they do a few things differently here that really set their rooms apart. Their rooms, each involving multiple chambers, are among the most spacious and emersive I've ever seen; they're well designed, nicely staged, and complete with surprises! The Cellar even involves an actor who pops in when you need him and really makes for a wonderfully intense and emersive experience. (Jason you were awesome!) We really loved their unique method of clue giving; they've eliminated that horrible moment of defeat where you have to admit you need a hint and instead use their own judgement as to when to offer up, in character, an ever so slight nudge in the right direction. Another perk we loved about this place that I've never seen elsewhere is that their rooms are all private: once you book your room, no matter the size of your group, the room is closed off to others. No having to worry about having to share the room with another group! (Having had my share of ruined experiences at other locations due to novice or roudy party crashers, I can't stress how awesome it is that this place offers this!) Can't say enough good things about this place. They even offer a special room for the younger escapers, but I can't say we tested that one out. We did the Inheritance, The Cellar, and the Vault. All three were top notch and highly recommended, but I think the Cellar was our favorite! Hope to make it back to Rhode Island in the future just to see what other rooms they have in the works!

Fun experience. Our host Trey, was great. One hour does by! The green room was pretty challenging (we didn't solve), I can't imagine how people complete the harder levels. Apparently they also have a kids room for ages 7-12. It is not clear where to park, we got lucky and found a spot on the street.

We stopped down last minute without a reservation. They had actually closed a little early because of a slow night and were about to lock the door. They graciously told us they would open back up and set up the Vault room for us. My wife and I have done 4 escape rooms before and it was my brother and sister-in-law's first. This was by far the best game room to date. The puzzles were challenging and the reward for figuring one out was well worth the challenge. We might not live local but have relatives that are and will be passing along our recommendations to them.

One of the best (if not the best) escape room companies I've done rooms with. I have done all the rooms that are currently at lock and clue and I can say that each room is unique, challenging and fun. With some other companies if you've done one room, you will be better off with the rest because of repeating clue types, and that is not the case at lock and clue. Each room's theme is well done. We escaped each room except for The Cellar, and we still thoroughly enjoyed the cellar (It was the first we did, and we came back 4 more times!). The staff was always friendly and fun. We had the same game master for 2 or 3 of our games, and he was great at acting differently for each different room, and didn't break character until it was all done. If you are new to escape rooms, go ahead and start with the green room and work your way up, but if you are experienced and want a real challenge, the Cellar and the Sorcerer's Curse are bound to get even veteran escapers awed at the style of clues and puzzles to solve! I can't wait for their new room to be ready so we can return!

We did the Sorcerer's curse for my friend's birthday and we had an amazing time. We literally could not stop talking about how much fun we had once we left. This was our 5th Escape Room, but first time at Lock and Clue, and this place is definitely at the top. Fully immersive, great decor, aesthetic, and atmosphere. The puzzles were challenging, interesting clues, and a lot of cool technology. Apparently this is one of the most difficult rooms. Another thing that was cool was that it wasn't just "one room" we had to escape. The multiple rooms made it way more fun and moved things a long and made us more and more excited as we made progress. We can't wait to try another one here at Lock and Clue. Thanks!

The room that we did was intense and interactive, with the guide/overseer/room designer playing a scary villain who would give hints while taunting us. The puzzle designs were tough but completely doable. Didn't quite make it in time, but the room designer was very cool and talked to us about the room after time was up.

We've been to multiple rooms in multiple states. This was by far the BEST experience. We liked the fact that it was interactive with the host instead of a computer screen giving hints. Jason was very suited to his role in Saul's Room- I think our hearts have resumed their normal rhythm....The complex story woven into the room made it more challenging (obviously) but more engaging. The entire staff was welcoming. I wish we lived closer so our group could try the rest of the rooms. HIGHLY recommend!

Honestly THE best escape room I've ever been to! Did the Green Room because we found a Groupon for it, and have come back consistently since! It is a little pricier than others in the area - but for the price, the immersive part of the experience is exponentially better than what else is out there. Totally worth it! I also think it's worth mentioning that the equipment seems to be well-maintained - it can be so frustrating when you are trying to put a combo. into a lock and the lock is not opening because it's broken, not because you have the wrong combo...that happens to me a lot at other escape rooms, but has never happened to me at Lock and Clue!

Fanrastic!! I brought 6 14 year old boys to Lock and Clue The staff was wonderful the atmosphere is awesome. The level of complexity in our room was challenging, fun, and exciting. Our facilitator was wonderful with the boys and helped them just enough to complete tasks. The detail of The Vault room was fantastic. I cant reccomend this place enough. And having the room alone for your group is a much better experience than working with strangers. We will be back!!

We got there and the staff was so friendly and super clean. We did the Cellar and the actor was amazing very convincing. I was kind of creeped out which was a good thing and even though we didn’t make it out alive hehe. I CANT stop talking about it and how I want to do all of their puzzles. The experience for the Zany Zoo package was fine, but the time for the entire party was a bit shorter than we would have liked, as the food arrival was late (not Lock and Clue fault), but 2 hours for the whole party wasn't enough, 2.5-3hours would be better....

We did the Green Room right after Thanksgiving with our teenage children and had so much fun we came back two weeks later to try the Vault. Both times were so awesome, just enough challenge to be fun, but not so impossible that we couldn't solve it. The staff are always very nice, highly recommend it for a fun family activity.
