You will see the opinions of real people like you who have information of the products of Fort Adams State Park (Park) in the state of Rhode Island.
Nowadays the firm gets a score of 4.6 stars out of 5 and this score has been based on 1680 reviews.
As you can read, it reaches an feddbacks average is nearly the top, and it is based on a very large number of reviews, so we may think that the assessment is very reliable. If there are many people who bothered to value when they are happy, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to put tatings when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Park corresponds to the category of State park.
Great park and an even greater venue for the Newport Jazz Festival. Had the advantage of winning a Marriott Rewards auction for a VIP ticket to NJF. EXCLUSIVE parking, seating, luxury restrooms and private tent with wide variety of fancy foods all day long. Great time.
Our guide Mike was great. Very knowledgeable and he has a long history with the fort himself. Huge fort with great views and the tunnels were fun to explore. Due to much of it being in disrepair you can see the lath and plaster through holes in the walls. Other parts are being restored and the work is ongoing which I think makes now the perfect time to visit the fort. You can even stay in the restored rooms in the fort!
Pretty area and shows Newport RI's history.
Not much to see, or do. Nice people though....
Great park for the food truck festival. Great staff at the park as well.
Loved the walk with my pup. Amazing view.
Visited Newport and decided to check out For Adams on the way. It was a bit foggy but otherwise on a clear day im sure it would be beautiful!
A do not miss spot in Newport, RI. Beautiful view and nice museum in the fort.
Love Fort Adams, the fireworks display was fabulous last night. Pell bridge event was a great success.
Jazz festival. Wonderful music
We had a wonderful day at the Newport Folk Festival.
I love fishing from the piers here and have done so for many years; there is plenty of parking and several public restrooms available. And there many more activities available.
Nice view and serene place also clean water
Beautiful place to spend whole day in park and to have picnic & fun with kids. Many opportunities to take pictures and fishing
Cool fort. Was interesting even in the off season, on a blustery day in Jan and no tours/staff on site. Big complex, interesting architecture. Will visit again in Spring/Summer.
Nice quite place. Awesome to watch sunsets
Very interesting, informative 75 minute tour about the Fort and its purpose in history.
This park is huge! It has a ferry and a hop on and off for some type of boat ride. Didnt go to the fort to walk around but definitely really good place to visit.
Great tour by Greg today!! AMAZING architecture! Fort's history is a must see if you are in the area.
Been coming here for years to go fishing. The place is always clean and never have any issues. There is one prime fishing spot on the dock. We always try to come early to get that spot. Will continue to go over there and bring my children
Fantastic walk on a Historic property
Excellent tour and a very in depth history lesson. Make sure to check it out if you are in the area.
Beautiful. Right on the water with views of the bridge. Take a lunch and spend the day! Today they have "Boots on the Ground " in honor of fallen soldiers.
Beautiful old port. Tons of events here. We did a zombie obstacle 5k here that was tons of fun. Some events actually get to use the old rooms and hallways. Check it out.
What a neat place. Some of the prettiest views on the East Coast. Tons of history because of the fort, but also because this is where festivals started. And lest we forget Mr. Bob Dylan changing the world by going Electric, and Pete Seeger's presence is felt all around!
Beautiful views. Historical atmosphere.
Great historic fort. Be sure to take the tunnels under the fort
A must visit for Rhode Islanders and tourists. The park is beautiful and the water surrounding has a beautiful view of the Newport bridge.
Had a great time here, cookout with families and went fishing, plenty of parking too
Historical sites are NATIONAL treasures not local treasures... You should be happy outsiders want to visit and spend money that helps local businesses and the local economy.
Went for memorial day weekend. The boots on the ground ceremony was great and the fort looks very well kept. Worth the trip. I just wish I could have done a tour to learn more of the history there. Due to the holiday, it was a little difficult!
I come here mainly to fish, but there is so much more involved with this site than just fishing alone. Fort Adams is extremely historical, I believe it was originally founded in the late 1700s and then rebuilt sometime in the 1800s, and visiting it comes pretty close to seeing history at its finest. There are also plenty of other things going on as well, for example, a spin class was in progress on the lawn near the entrance when I arrived. You could also watch the sailboat races that were happening. Sailboats, and lots of other watercraft, but mostly sailboats littered the waters, and some of them were truly awesome to look at. I believe they do tours as well, but I didn't actually check to see. Also, the views of Newport Bridge and Rose Island should be a part of any photographers trip around Rhode Island. Hopefully I will be continuing to come back here multiple times in the future.
This place is very interesting. The history here is really amazing. I knew nothing of the Fort's history before I went in and felt I learned a lot. Even though the guide was nice, and very informative, his continual sarcasm got old.
Very nice and worth going to all the I information about the war back in those days I liked it
Wonderful State Park. Lots of interesting history with very amicable tour guides. Great spot for any history or military history buff
Just a beautiful sight. Ships, homes, Atlantic Ocean view.
Great views of Newport Harbor and a fantastic two-mile loop for walking/running.
At the beginning of 2018, my Mum started a Nannying job for a family living in Fort Adams. Due to this, I was often by myself at home for long periods of time. After receiving permission from the little ones mother, she started inviting me to join her and the baby for their daily walks around The Bay. These walks were absolutely beautiful and a great relief from solitude. At this time, the family has moved. However, the little guy and the Bay walk still hold a place in my heart. I still venture out to walk at least twice a week to get some exercise, people watch and enjoy the sunny days. Info wise, the outer edge of The Bay Walk (only) is about 2miles. The scenery is great for Photography shots and while the path is a little bumpy it is otherwise smooth. There is a bathroom at Newport Sail. There are a few hills, but in my opinion that adds some extra exercise. Fort Adams itself, has amazing tours! Mum and I also visited the Haunted House event in October of 2018. The Haunted house was definitely fun, but not scary unless you're easily scared or younger. I've lived in RI my whole life and have some very fond memories surrounding Fort Adams!
If you want to breathe and relax right place. On the perfect sunny day. Relax
Very nice place. Went here with my in laws. It was a beautiful day, got some Dels Lemonade after taking a ship tour.
Nice views of Newport. We didn't take a tour; that might be interesting.
It's an amazing place. Though we couldn't visit inside the fort but outside view is just amazing ...
Excellent views abound in every direction of the sailing capital of the world from a prime position; the very reason for the fort's existence
Fort Adams State Park is a true gem for Rhode Island. (The Ocean State). Largest public sailing facility on the East Coast. Gorgeous harbor let alone the beautiful grounds and public facilities.
Fort McHenry is local to me and Fort Adams doesn't have anywhere near the same level of TLC to restore it to it's former glory and historical significance. It also seems to suffer from a bit of identity crisses in finding a new purpose (state park, boy scout camp, local music festivals, Halloween, private events). BUT, the Fort Adams Trust is working towards restoration and it is worth visiting as a good spot to see some of the local area.
Amazing opportunity to explore hands-on history. It’s an amazing place, beautiful & big. Wear good walking shoes!
Boots on the ground for memorial day was a wonderful tribute to our service people who gave all. God Bless, RIP
Great tour and our guide was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. He was also familiar with the fort at the Casement Museum at Fort Monroe in Hampton, VA. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area to take advantage of the guided tour, as well as the one in Virginia.
Great outdoor venue with great views of Newport and narragansett bay
It was very intriguing, but the tours on the weekends are a lot more limited. It's free to visit and has great views. The tours cost and there is a coffee shop and gift shop.
Great place love the tour it should be a federal landmark
This is a beautiful place, great sites, and really nice people. I definitely recommend it.
Absolutely enjoying the 2019 Newport Folk Festival on the water aboard the mighty Merry Prankster, how ya doing?
This place had amazing scenery, and was great for a bike ride.
This place is pretty cool. Make sure you check out the tunnels.
The Jazz and the Folk Festival and so much more! History and great views.
Excelent place to fish, run, take pics, to have a good time to relax
I really enjoyed the fort and the tour. The guide was very knowledgeable, and the tunnel tour was great. Restoration is still needed, so the place is partially a ruin. This can add to the charm
Watching Sheryl Crow from the boat was the best!
Amazing view. Great place to chill with family and friends.
Awesome view & relaxing for picnics and a stroll.
Good fishing. Nice sunshine.
We had a nice hike around the bay 2 ish miles and you could see the Eisenhower house.
Historical venue, perfect for the jazz festival.
NERFU Rugby Weekend is like coming home! Great local rugby and logistically... Newport Rugby Club never fails to pull it off and make it a fun memorable weekend!
If you can get out on the water or gain a good vantage point on land there are some very interesting sail craft in the waters around Fort Adams.
Fun for the whole family. Dells, tall ships and history all in one
You can enter only with a tour ticket. It’s $24 per person. Last entry is at 4 PM. Nice place and nice location.
very nice bay walk. the fort is only open with the tour. also some sailing available.
You cannot see much of anything unless you are on a paying guided tour, which contradicts info on their website. So time your visit to coincide with the tour schedule or you may be disappointed.
Great place to walk and enjoy the views, great veiws of the Newport bridge. Awesome old fort there as well. Boating activities as well.
Beautiful, historic park. The old fort lends itself well to hosting large events. It was a lot of fun to be here during the Newport Jazz Festival and I've also been through during war reenactments. One of the highlights of visiting Fort Adams is seeing the boats in the harbor on a warm summer day. As the sun sets and the sky comes to life, look out across the water to the historic downtown and know why New England is so cherished by so many.
Great tour! Super informational and yet fun and engaging. Awesome walking through the tunnels and great view from the top! Greg was an amazing guide! Super personable with a great sense of humor!
Loved it. The place rents boats and sails also. They have a fort which has a tour ticket for $15/adult. It is a guided tour for an hour. Outside the fort is the dock area which has beautiful Dawn and dusk views.
Very nice place!! Extra clean ,People's were very friendly..
Visited Newport for the day. Did fort Adams at end of day. Very easy 2 mile trail loop around the end island that gives great views of fort Adams Newport and the bay..
Small beach, clean water great for small children, life guard on duty.
Great view, awesome Fireworks display, spacious and clean Great crowd of people and polite staff.
Toured the historic fort and learned lots about its history and the history of Newport. Excellent tour!
They do a good job keeping the place clean and the visitor center is lovely. Keep it up! Also the town has gotten very used to the events held out at Fort Collins and shuttling individuals to and from huge music events and festivals is not easy but they really do a great job so kudos to the police and volunteers and staff that always do this during the tourist season thanks a lot for all that work I usually don't look for it to doing it but then once I get in the traffic I realized that you guys keep things moving along
Really beautiful view. Great time watching cruise ships set out to sea from the shoreline before the fort.
Loved it. Great weather
Pity it was raining the day we visited but learned lots from the guide just chatting in the shop, hoping for the weather to clear
There was no one when we went there. Only yachts and water... it was a great evening.
Loved it clean nice gift shop Tall ship was beautiful Weather was also beautiful
Just a beautiful site and so many different activities and events
I go here each year for the Newport Folk Festival. In an era where most music festivals are more about the see and be seen aspects, the NFF is all about the music. It's a festival for those who are just in it for the music. The vibe is super mellow, the food isn't bad (though predictably overpriced), ditto the drinks. My only significant complaint is that it is typically hot and humid during the Summer, and there aren't too many shady places to escape. But, hey, that comes with being on the water.
Patrick was an AWESOME tour guide. Really interesting, very informative and he could answer all our questions.
Nice place to go and relax to watch the boats come in and out.
Great place to walk, great views of Narragansett Bay and Newport Harbor, interesting tours of fort. Could have more picnicking sites, better rest room facilities.
Amazing experience. Beautiful park and the fort itself is a piece of recent history that speaks for itself.
Nice place, good views and awesome for walking around.
Boots on the ground was one of the most humbling experience that I had on my visit. Fort Adams did an amazing g job honoring the fallen. The boots were arranged based on state.
Took the tunnel tour. It was ok more geared for smaller people. Young kids will get bored fast
Health walk mapped out nice picnic area
Came for NJF. Beautiful fort in a beautiful place
Always a pleasure to visit Ft. Adams, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Wonderful piece of American history from the war of 1812 through to the civil war and beyond. Amazing heritage
Tickets were required to enter the fort and we weren't permitted in the ship. We played some games around the fort which had fantastic views of the water.
It was ok. Unfortunately the park hosts two festivals back to back weekends so all the equipment and tents were shoved in the areas where we were. Took alot away from the atmosphere of the fort. Plus, very run down.
Very much worth a visit, from the history to the architecture to the military aspect. The tour is about an hour and little ones might struggle to stay interested, but our teenagers all enjoyed it, (especially being tunnel rats!).
Historical Fort with excellent 3 mast ship in the harbor
Very nice historic area to explore.
Great tour guide.... was a fun learning and exploring experience.
I want on a guide, very informative. Super interesting place, highly recommend for any history buffs
Great car show. We will definitely be back next year!!!
Beautiful park. well maintained, staff are friendly and informative.
Traffic getting in and out during events is a nightmare. They really need to work on how they let people in and out and who's giving directions.
Great park and plenty of parking. It even has an EV port
Used to pop by for a beer and watch them fly kites on Sundays when I lived nearby in the mid-70's ...
This fort was beautiful! I ran a 10 mile race out of here and would love to go back just to explore. Highly recommend for any event!
The guided tour is exceptional. The guard will tell you about the history of not only the fort but of Rhode island itself. you get to go to several places that you can't get to just taking a self-guided tour such as the officers quarters and the upper deck that looks out over the ocean. Going through the underground tunnels was also an interesting experience and a great relief from the heat. I would highly recommend taking the guided tour.
Very nice area. It's right on the water and a good history of what goes on there with various festivals and boat races.
Very neat! Tour guides tell a good story.
I have visited many state parks, and let me start by saying its a very nice fort....but i don't believe in charging for a state park as most are free i walked over a quarter mile to the fort due to a sailing event and left my cash in the vehicle (we rarely us3 cash at state parks besides a donation so my 5$ was not enough for my family of 7 and i wasn't about to walk back in 97°F heat to get my wallet, so we enjoyed it from afar and went swimming at the swimming area there! 3 stars is because of the friendliness of the staff and the surrounding recreational areas.
Made our first trip to the Newport Jazz Fest. Fort Adams hosts the event annually. The park is great. There is a sailing school here, so if you want to learn how to sail.... We will definitely visit the park again.
We walked the trail from the Eisenhower house around Fort Adams and the yacht club. Saw lots of sailboats out on the gorgeous day. Nice walk but no shade. Wear comfortable shoes to walk the trail.
Really scenic view of the Atlantic Ocean. Historic fort and history. Great place to view the Tall Ships! They have a gift shop and tours too.
So beautiful right in the heart of Newport. The views were stunning.
Fort Adams was a wonderful place to visit. Lots of walking and beautiful scenery.
If you don't sail or no concert going on. You just drive in a drve out. Nothing gping on there.
Boots on the Ground was an excellent memorial to those who gave their lives for our freedom.
We took the guided tour, Greg was our leader. He was knowledgeable and entertaining. There is so much military history at Fort Adams. If in Newport its a great take in.
Great for fort military enthusiasts Do the tunnel tour and become Tunnel rat with a sticker they give out at end 0f tour
tour was real informative it was luke walking back through history mike are tour guide knows his fort and was passionate about it
End point is "Bike to the Beach," an annual fundraiser for Autism Research. Nice views, but I'm pretty beat after riding 100 miles on my bicycle....
There's food and drinks in the gift shop, and it's a wonderful walk around the fort and to see all the sailboats.
65th Newport Jazz Festival was fantastic! Wonderful venue right on Narragansett Bay.
Great place to go for Memorial day. The "Boots on the Ground for Heroes Memorial" was amazing and heart wrenching.
Great views of Newport harbor and the marina. The tour of the Fort was great!
Great state park! We took a tour of the fort. The tour guide was amazing! It was crazy how large the fort was, it just seemed to keep going and going!!!
Great place to visit and learn a little about Fort Adam and it's history
Beautiful state park. The wow factor was there.
Sprawling views of the ocean. Beautiful harbour front
State park in Newport, RI. Beautiful park surrounded by ocean. Historic battlements
Fort Adams is a great family friendly area. It has a great walking path, beautiful views, clean restrooms, and lots of cool festivals and events. We love Fort Adams
Georgeous place for walking and jogging. A must go place in Rode Island
Great place to bring dogs and enjoy wonderful views of Newport and Narragansett bay. The fort itself is also very interesting. I'm local, and the backside of the fort is one of my favorite places to picnic.
This is such a great place to visit and tour. There is so much history! The tours of the fort are very interesting and fun. The views from grounds of the fort are amazing! I would definitely recommend stopping here while in Newport!
Wonderful historic place to visit. Learned so much about a fort I did not know existed. Tour guide was informative and entertaining.
A really enjoyable place to visit in Newport! The fort is great to walk around, and we also enjoyed walking on the path outside the fort. There is a lot if history to take in, and it is great for people of all ages! Highly recommended if you're in Newport!
Very cool place! Great tour guides full of knowledge who guide you through a historical journey of a Fort built to defend Newport RI from the British, the underground tunnels are also very cool not designed to accommodate someone over Six foot, nevertheless totally worth it! A must visit for the family, plan on 1.5 to 2 hr tours, highly recommend! Thank you so much for your time, it was well worth ours.
Nice tour. Terrific views of the harbor. There is an underground tour that sounds like it would be fun too.
A very nice walk with awesome views
Lots of fun sailing here. Can't beat it. And seeing Belichick's old boat that he donated was cool.
Not really much on the outside. A nice panoramic view of the Newport Bridge. Maybe 2 or 3 places for "photographer" photos. Didn't do the the tour. Will keep in mind for 1 or 2 shots for future reference.
Tours are offered from 10am to 4pm. Fort Adams State Park also hosts the Newport Folk and Jazz festival each year.
Delivered 1 of 3 truck loads of staging for the folk festival and jazz festival and retured to reload after break down. Walked around alittle. There area to fish, walk, dog walk, explore history, several buildings, boat rentals, boat taxi, pirate ship style boat tour. Be a nice place at sunset for a wedding. If I get chance to get back there, on my time or if i get chance to bring staging again. I think I'll spend an extra day there to check it out better.
Massive fort with a very interesting history. Was also on an episode of ghost hunters!
This is a great educational experience for the whole family. The fort itself is incredible. The history, the architecture and weaponry is amazing. The tour is great, and the educational posters quite useful
I love it there. My wife and I got married on the rock there 6 years ago.
The Memorial Day Boots on the Ground was an awesome honor to our fallen soldiers.
Walked around the fort. Nice 1 hour or so. If you want to go in you need a guide.
Beautiful! Great place for the whole family
Its amazing, will drive there every year
Beatiful fort, have to pay to get inside
Wonderful place to take the kids. Great for swimmig, boating and picnics. Dont forget to get a tour of the fort! The fort still has battle scars from its war days. Very cool.
Visited after closing time so we missed the fort itself. Plenty of parking, wonderful views, community gathering place. Free options.
Great place! Staff is super friendly and helpful! Tour was wonderful.
