This Park belongs to the category of State park.
Have been and will continue to go to this amazing campground for years and years to come. Love the location and the scenery from being so close to the ocean. Have a blast every time we go!
Clean bathrooms; showers were 75 cents for first three minutes and 25 cents each for subsequent minutes. Employees were friendly and helpful. Location is conveniently close to town and ferry but the campsites in the older part of the park are very close together.
Tent sites are too small and none are level. Some are literally a few feet from the bathroom. Choose your site carefully. Bathrooms are new and cleaned every day. Campers were quiet and considerate. Close to the beaches and the ferry to Block Island. Lots of local restaurants.
Great camping for families. Plenty to do and see in area.
Wow! Experience Live Band. Good Food for Food lovers .
Great Camp groumd, clean facilities and friendly staff. You MUST book a year in advance to get a site.
Over by Galilee in Rhode Island
This place is great because of its location really close to all the beachs in Narragansett.
Perfect location for all the attractions in the area Large sites and quiet
Sun finally out
Nice relaxing
Cramped tent sites, but great service and excellent location.
Beautiful sunsets
We had a wonderful time this weekend at Fishermans. We drive a 32' Class C and stayed on site #67. It was a nice private site, but a little shallow. Not to worry, as it has ample space for our needs. If you have additional tents, etc., this might not be the site for you. Area 1 of the CG was quiet, clean and the people camping her seemed to be very nice. I haven't camped in State CG's for decades and this was a nice stay. We walked to the pier to catch the Block Island Ferry and it was not a bad walk at all. I'd stay here again.
So sad to see they cut out alot of trees n brush out..... Makes the campsites all open n uninviting. No trees for shade neither
Boats
I really liked this campground. My wife and I visited from western NY and picked it randomly. While there were a few loud guests, that's pretty normal. Facilities were nice and clean, though I wish they would install some shelves, it is a challenge to take a shower when there isn't anywhere to put your stuff.
We loved the location and well maintained camp sites. Really enjoyed our stay here last weekend. Only reason for one less star is Women bathrooms were not clean at all, they were literally filthy.
Love love love it here! I have camped here since I was young! Close to thw beach and friendly environment! Online booking system is a little complicated but the location is everything! I do wish they still had greywaters in the tenting area though! Hard to do dishes in that area!
Very peaceful other than white noise from the area. Spaces are well laid out. I'm giving it four stars for the bathroom/shower situation. Quarters are required to shower ($3) for a brief one, very limited space, the entire floor in the changing area is a puddle of water when you're done showering.
Great place!
Some of the staff are great, others are to concerned with not doing their jobs, and casually making your camping trip unbelievable, & the bathroom attendants hardly ever clean the bathroom s and they hangout and talk about doing drugs and drinking not professional !!!!
I spent time with my children in the park. They loved it.
Awesome place to go camping⛺ Quiet place.
Beautiful, spacious sites. Very quiet and so far all my fellow campers are very friendly. The maintenance crews have been (inconspicuously) hard at work sprucing up the area where needed. Bath houses are clean and we're recently redone. This is our second time here and plan many more visits. The only downside to some sites is that they have a decidely front to back pitch on their pads, making leveling very difficult. Area 4 really doesn't have this. Area 2 has the most. Area 1 has a few sites like that, but most are flat and some have beautiful water views
been camping here since I was little. Love the place but they need to work on the bathrooms. Gross... They upgraded the bathrooms!!!! Too bad they left out power outlets :/
Love it! Surrounded by beaches, clean campground
Good
Great campground! Clean and quiet.
If your looking for amazing scenery, great beaches, great seafood close by, camping? Then this is a MUST for any beach or outdoors enthusiast. An amazing day for the family.
It's good
Stayed October 2017 We stayed in a motorhome and found this to be a spectacular state park. The sites were roomy and came with a spectacular view, one of the benefits of travelling in the fall season ... choice of sites. It was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The site we had was level and had the hookups conveniently located. All services worked without a problem. The location is perfect for exploring the area, and there is lots to see. Coming and going from the park is monitored, making for a safe place for all the gear that gets hauled out. The park covers a large area and it must be quite a site when it is full. Cannot comment on the park facilities as we did not use them.
Had a horrible experience today . I have a reservation in approximately 3 weeks so I asked if I could just do a quick drive by my site since there are no photographs on ReserveAmerica. I have been camping here almost every summer for ten years and have been allowed in the past to view a reserved site. The man at the check point to enter was so rude and told me not once but twice”people pull this all the time “ when I asked to drive in and out to see a site I was unfamiliar with. He asked the date of my arrival which I told him my arrival date and had my email reservation confirmation on my phone. The older man told me new management but say I could go to the office for more info after a brief conversation although his tone was demeaning I guess that was helpful. I told him maybe I would be cancelling I went to exit but figured I was already there and wouldn’t let him detour me from finding out what I should be looking forward to in 3 weeks. I circle around and proceeded to the office where I had a ranger truck immediately behind me with flashing lights abd honking his horn and blocked me in after I pulled into the office parking lot. I was a little nervous, I’m not doing anything I wasn’t told I couldn’t by going to the office but apparently someone thought or was told I had. After explaining how I was told I could go to the office to get info on my site the young man was less aggressive and told me not to take it personal and that they are working on getting pictures posted on Reserveamerica. Another gentleman came out of the office and asked “who ran the gate?” I responded, “I guess me.” Thus gentleman walked back in the office meanwhile the older man at the checkpoint stared at us the entire time. I went into the office where there were two polite and helpful young ladies and I was able to see a picture. After I asked how do I make a complaint. The gentleman who previously asked”who ran the gate “ came out of a back office and was supportive telling me the checkpoint employee should have just directed me to the office without the additional comments. He also said I should let one person basically taint my opinion. Last summer I had problem with quiet hours being enforced and children running through my campsite. I had a 3 yr old camping with me last year and am a public school teacher so I have utmost tolerance of children . My daughter was with me today to witness this treatment at the gate which brought me to tears recounting the story to two deprecate employees (I had to defend myself because I was considered a trespasser apparently). No one should be treated or spoken to the way I did supporting a state campground and its employees by being a tax payer in addition to a paid camper. I really want to cancel my reservation because the thought of having to check in with this person two or more times a day potentially as I come and go during my reservation might ruin my time remembering today’s experience. BTW the man practically broke his neck smuggly at staring me as I drove out of the entrance clearly sending a message....No reason to turn your head that hard. Family tradition sadly coming to an end. I wish I asked names but I will this upcomingTuesday after the Memorial holiday. I should be able to cancel without forfeiting $19 because of insulting personnel. My 1 star can only go to safety control because no one is coming in without paying a fee to visit a camper or being a present camper. Fortunately other campgrounds out of RI don’t treat you this way or have the same policy....maybe Fisherman’s could take your license and give you 5 mins. to make a drive by your site.
Liked it for years.
My favorite place but hard to get a reservation.
Peaceful and quiet
Nice peaceful campground except some people might find the windmill sound hard to sleep with. Some of the sites were very small. Not much privacy between sites. We had a nice time riding around the grounds and to the beach. It has two lookout points to climb up to. Good place to bring kids.
A family friendly camping ground that is conveniently close to a fairy that can take you to Block Island. Not the best spot if you are looking for a quiet place to camp
Great vacation. A tent, a fire, a short walk to the best beach in RI, an area to go clamming and more than enough fishing.
Great location to play tourist.
It was ok didn't see anything out side of the office do to it's only a state campground no public park it's $14 a night for a tent so it's
Nice state park campground, a bit crowded, sites are kinda close together but its at the beach so totally worth it.
Nice park. The staff was amazingly friendly and gave me a lot of advice on where to go to see things in the local area.
Best campground in Rhode Island.
Nice place to stay, very kind of urban campground site but still a relaxing time. Only $35
One of my favorite campgrounds,. Well kept, nice walks, close to the beach, historic WWII gun emplacements
Nice campground, ask for a level site as some are on a hill with some challenging pitches.close to a light house with beautiful sunrises. There's also old battery mounds which make good viewing of the back Bay.
It's not a five star for me because the place is untenable when at full capacity on the tent side. The restroom facilities are nice but will keep you up all night either from lights coming on our hair dryer sounding noisier outside than inside. That said, it feels social and there's a good playground and basketball court. The sites are very very small for tents, none of the seclusion we are accustomed to at Pawtuckaway in NH. But no critters and great proximity to Newport and Narragansett 's beaches.
The people here are great, alot of things to do around in this area, dog friendly, and playground for kids. This is also a peaceful and laid back place. I will definitely be back next year, and if y'all plan on coming, book way in advance, cause the spots here go quickly!
Beautiful
Great place to stay close to beaches and a lot of great places to see and a stop by iggys. Seafood is a must
To start, this place asks for so much paperwork it is very unnessesary. The woman at the office, Tracy, was very rude to us because we accidentally brought in an older vehicle registration paper. “this is expired. you need an up to date one or i’m going to send you to the DMV” (we aren’t even from Rhode Island). She did not make us feel welcome whatsoever. Next, the restrooms near our campsite were closed, no one during check in told us this or told us where the nearest ones were. She also did not mention the showers required change, and the change machines were broken for most of our stay. A couple showers were out of order, and there was no indication of this and the coin machine didn’t return anything so we lost some of our change that we did have. There is no tree cover on almost all of the sites, and the sites are extremely small. There is a bunch of underground World War 2 bunkers which have no trespassing signs and no historical markers. In my opinion this would be a great opportunity to share some history of the park with trails and historical signs. Overall, the bathrooms were clean but the park and campsite were not great and we will not be returning.
The facilities are nice and they're right near the beaches. Personnel are mostly ok. Now for the bad. You'll have to provide them with a whole lot more paperwork then you'll have ever been asked for from any campground you've ever visited in your entire life. Nearly rivals a visit to the DMV. 1. Photo ID 2. Registration for the RV 3. Registration for your toad 4. Rabies certificate for pets 5. Have to fill out a special form for your pet. I don't have the foggiest idea exactly why 1, 2, 3, and 5 are necessary when there are tags with the damn year registration is valid for on each damn vehicle. The ID is also ridiculous when I'm using a credit card in the first place. And finally the form for pets is ridiculous when all the freaking information is on the freaking rabies certificate. So no wonder RI (that owns and runs the campground) is so incredibly tax heavy. They can't even run a campground without making things complicated in order to run up huge costs. 9 billion a year budget for a state with less then a million people and a land mass area of 150 square miles. Absolutely no surprise there...
Great family camp ground
Affordable family camping
Need to book a year in advance. Great spot.
One of our favorite places to camp. We just wish it was easier to get a site!
clean, beautiful location, and friendly staff.
Busy place despite it's being the end of the season. Friendly campers from all over the country!
We go camping here every September or early October new bathrooms Campground is very scenic and the beaches in Rhode Island are free after Labor Day very hard to book the site as they fill up fast very popular with large RVs every Sunday there is a farmers market that is really really good highly recommend this Campground but I wish that less people would go so I can get us a site easier also no alcohol is allowed which is a plus for me
Quiet and peaceful
Only place I camp
Not a bad place to go camping bathrooms are okay but no where to get out of the Sun but all sites are different and some campsites a very small
Reasonable prices. New bathrooms very nice. Good location
Great location. Plenty of things close by to do and eat.
Extremely noisy (motorcycles, loud trucks, and a wind mill) the bathrooms are disgusting, sites are small and the playground area is a joke. Only reason I gave it one star is for the location to the beach. Won't be back. Greatly disappointed! PS The roads in this state are terrible!
Great park within walking distance to the park. It looked like they had a nice big water park. We didn’t check it out though. Nice laundry room, bathrooms. Some trails
Great place to camp.
Campgrounds are kept clean and very safe.
Been coming here every July for the last few years. It is clean and well kept.
Nice quiet campground
Great, clean, beautifully kept.Near food, ocean beaches
Great campground, state beaches, ferry to Block Island, good kayaking
Great campground!
They claim to be open 24 hours, which, if you happen to attempt to check in to your campsite any time after 10 pm, you will quickly and unfortunately discover to be very untrue. They will not let you check in, but the staff of 4 (there 24/7) will kindly offer to let you park in their parking lot until they’re “open”. Extremely disappointed with the staff’s ineffectual, “I’m sorry, but I can’t do anything to help you.” Especially at 1 am.
Strategically located near fishing whale watching and many beaches all accessible by walking or bike. Sites are a little cramped but the place is well maintained and reasonably priced
Meh. Location near the shore is the only thing this Campground has going for it. Sites are very close to one another - not the way we prefer to camp. The real problem has to do with the lousy, arrogant attitude of the people at the desk. At least three other campers commented to us about the indifferent, 'doing us a favor' attitude on display. I was really appalled by the woman's demeanor. For that reason alone I won't return here, nor would I recommend this campground to anyone.
Close to beaches ,clean new bath houses
The location can't be beat, but the tent sites don't have any privacy. You can quahog right at the campground and the beach and Block Island ferry are each a 3 minute ride away. Sites book 365 days out, and RV sites can be tough to come by if you aren't on your computer a year out at exactly the right time. It's very clean and the roads are paved. No store on site but a convenience store and dunkin donuts a quarter mile away as well as a range of restaurants nearby.
Great place clean safe
Been going for over 50 years wonderful camp ground one of the best in the. USA
Have been going here for 30 years, but it has really changed. They have made many improvements, but it is really crowded and more expensive. Seems to be much louder than it always was. Dogs barking, people up late. Maybe I am just getting older......
It is a decent camp ground but definitely not our favorite. Pros include that it's quiet, clean, well maintained and close to Newport and Beaches. Now for cons, sites are very close together some with very little privacy, there are odd rules (no alcohol). In the tent area there are no places to really do dishes. But the weirdest thing is the showers they are cheap which is a pro but no locking doors and no curtain to separate your clean clothes from the shower, also very few hooks and no benches. All and all an ok camp ground if you want to stay in this area it's a good spot but some oddities about it.
We were completely stressed by the time we checked into this park. I have never seen a park with so many rules.
Camping in a seaside village
This place is Awesome !
Great campground. Very clean facilities. Quite an increase in price this year but is still worth it. Only complaint I have is it is very difficult to get reservations.
I have been here many times over the years, easy access, close to the beach, and good clam cakes, also close to the Block Island ferry. Showers could be a little cleaner but that is my only complaint. I love that you can hear the waves at night and two years ago we had a very friendly skunk that visited my friends and I at our picnic table so we fed him. It was awesome. I am hoping to get back this fall after the crowds leave. I love it.
Great experience over our stay. Has many pull through options for big RVs. Clear drive paths, friendly staff, friendly campers to mingle with, good roads to bike and jog on in addition to play ground and view of ocean. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the bathrooms could have been cleaner for a state park. I would recommend this for both long term camping or just one night.
Love the farmers market they have
Camp suberbia
very nice park. wish the ww2 ruins were more accessable. playground is nice and grounds are clean.
really fun park to walk your dogs
Clean newer facilities
The people who run the campground are rude and were unable to answer simple questions about the campground. Don't waste your time or money at this place.
Beautiful as I remembered.
Love the Sunday farmers market
Great state park with beautiful lookouts. Clean, dog friendly, full RV hookup. Had a blast staying on memorial day weekend with my 2 dogs. 20 minutes walking to beach and restaurants.
Nice family campground
Great campground quite no noisy neighbors spectacular sunsets and awesome beaches.
Love this place, alot of old growth has been it down , my opinion I liked the old growth much better more privacy other than that I will be coming next year again with my family
Still here camping! New shower facilities, lots of parking and trailer camping! Cost $.75 for a shower though.. very busy here but big
Good
Great place been coming here for almost 30 years. Close to beaches and great for family's at a good price. Recent upgrades such as bathrooms are a good sign they are investing back into the park. However the booking process through reserve America is a joke. Sites can be booked 2 weeks at a time so it doesn't give the average camper a fair chance at a weekend away. You have to hover over the website right when the clock changes to book a site. Big free for all. Such a gambling system. I know the state is aware of this but I also know there getting there money so I'm sure they don't care.
Nice secluded campsite at a great price.
Very nice campground.
Been coming for years and every year it gets a little worst. The sites are not cleaned anymore when you arrive. Spent 20 minutes picking up garbage and broken glass when we arrived. Plus the common curticy of your site has gone away, we actually have on several occasions had people just walk thru our site...close enough that they actually touch our car. They also dont patrol at night anymore and the one ways are apparently an option now.
Clean and quiet. This was our 3rd year there and will be going back next year.
My site was nice, very clean but not level. I had to go home to Coventry to get ramps and blocks to level up. Not a big deal. They should tell people ahead of time to bring them for certain sites. If I was coming from out of state it would have been a problem. Had a good time. Nice clean park with a lot of history.
Hard to get in to because it's an awesome campground.
It's an ok park. Stayed on site #163 which was nice and private. The site doesn't seem to get checked and cleaned prior to campers checking in as the fire pit was full and small pieces of trash scattered amongst the site. The gal at the desk wasn't friendly at all. It was almost like we were bothering her. Bathrooms gets spot clean, no real cleaning. I was in the bathroom while they were "spot cleaning". You have to pay to take a shower. Which was a surprise. We've been traveling the country and have been to 21 states and this was a first. Cost .75 for 3min and each addt min .25. The reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 2 is location. It's close swimming, fishing, exploring. Newport is a short drive.
Started coming again after 45 years and this the bathrooms in area 2 and 4 totally remodelled very nice.
Beautiful. Lots of space. Family oriented and pet friendly. Near beach and fishing. Budget friendly. Near block island ferry and newport. A real gem
Awesome state park filled with history! Honestly, when camping here you forget it's a state park because it has full hookups which many don't. Very quiet place and awesome scenery. Close by to many popular destinations in Narragansett. Clean place, friendly staff, and overall great environment. Can't go wrong with the price per night either! We love camping here. :D
Awesome and close to beach..some sites out in the open...
Wonderful.
These people were so rude. I asked for a visitors pass to look around and see if I wanted to camp there, they would not let me in, she said it was a safety Hazzard and I if I wanted to look at the camp ground I would have to look on Google earth. She wasn't nice about it at all.
Awesome place to stay and near the beaches
Not your average campground. Slightly a cut above, but just below being excellent. Definitely not a shanty! Come and have fun at this place. Close to da beach. Build ya own fire in the designated fire pit.
Me and my wife love going here. They allow tents to stay where there are RV hook ups so if you like camping in a tent but still need electricity in your life you can have that as well as a water faucet. The bathrooms have been redone as well and are nice and maintained. You also have access if you have a clamming licence to go and get clams in lowtied. The campsite is by point Judith so if you want to go to block island the ferry is bike distance away. If your in this area definitely go-to Iggy's and get some dough boys you won't refer it all.
We loved it there !
Great little spot, bathrooms and showers good. Will be returning next summer.
Found a new campground and we love it
Fantastic camp grounds, Excellent views, clean restrooms.
Inexpensive, great views, close to beaches, seafood and attractions. Great farmer's market on Sundays.
Too loud late at night. Very small sites with a parking spot in the middle . the staff was the only thing good here
Spacious camp sites . new bathroom facilities. Secure campground. Visitors are required to obtain a pass to enter
Small, but very nice Farmer's market
It is a beautiful park with full hook ups and the spot for the rvs are very big
Cheap place to stay. There is nothing there. No pool which it is near ocean. Nothing for kids to do. You can't get a good site cuz they are reserved a year in advance. Even though you can only stay 14 days a a time and you have to leave for 7 days.
I really enjoyed this state park. The bathrooms were old, but it looks like they're updating this winter((2016). Campsites were nice. But be careful of which site you pick. Looks like there was a design flaw when it came to the sewer stack placement. Every other row the sewer connection is significantly uphill of the camper, and is completely useless, you'll need to use the dump station. We were in the 20s and we were fine, so it would be the 10s,30s,50s ect that would be of concern. The playground looked new, and the kids had fun. There is a farmers market on sundays which is a great bonus. Extremely close to the beach.
They have horrible camping sites
Inexpensive place to stay near food and attractions. Friendly staff and beautiful campsites. Will definitely be staying here again.
Great spot to camp. Quiet spot close to beaches and food
Awesome price close to all the beaches
Good rv and tent camping. Close to beach and near Block Island Ferry. Farmers market on Sundays.
Excellent layout for RV's, great places to hike, and close proximity to beautiful Narragansett!
Very clean well organized State Park.
A Very nice campground
Super cute.. great location!
Clean facilities, tight tent spots, great location & friendly staff. Place is near beaches, seafood joints, lots of summer hot spots. The camping itself is tight, all spaces are a little bit small and very close to one another. If you are looking for more of a secluded area then this might not be the campsite for you. Not going to lie one of our neighboring lots was here this evening this might not have been the same experience. But with that said they weren't so it was great! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a place to stay and do some outdoor adventures. Note there is a windmill that can make some white noise at night, so be warned of that.
Great campground! Well kept, friendly staff, sites are very nice. Brand new picnic tables this year.
This is a great state park. We had a wonderful week here, but I took away one star because it got a little loud on the weekend.
Very nice RV campground. Large pull-thru sites - some of them are enormous. Very private for pull-thru sites, most have bushes, hedges, and or trees between them. Well maintained. Full hookups. Rock firepits. Paved sites with grass surround. Not a ton of other amenities, there is an outdoor playground. No pool. Some of the sites have quite a slope to them so setup can be challenging. Highly recommended.
The campsites were very close together. There was no privacy
Great Farmer's Market on Sunday.
Great place to relax
Family & pet oriented
Love the location. Facilities could be better.
It's beautiful. My wife and I loved our stay here.
Nice place to place your Trailer RV. Close to beaches and excellent fast food and sit down restaurants clost by. Beautiful scenery.
Nice place for camping
Great camping
Most sites very unlevel, we are only 23' and had to have 3 legos under each tire to be close to level. Sites nice but kind of close together, charge for showers...was very clean and well maintained.
Well run, great location, some sites could be bigger.
Great campground
Love this place and sundays they have a farmers market
