By far my favorite escape room! Unlike many others, the staff are the ones who create the rooms, and they really care about it, which comes through in the presentation and overall experience. Some escape rooms I’ve been to, the person on staff is clearly only there so they can get paid, but everyone at ERI I’ve met seems highly engaged and really wants to make sure you have a good time. Highly recommend!!

Derrick Archer

I've been to many different escape rooms, and this one is great! Whether you've never visited an escape room or you're a regular Houdini, you should visit here.

Peyton 314fin

Had an awesome time and we will definitely be back for more!!

Nicole Hughes

Came with a group of 10 for my 30th birthday and we Escaped the Bunker. It was so much fun! I’ve done a few rooms now and this was one of the really good ones. The puzzles were challenging and enough for 10 people to all have something to do! We finished with 15 seconds to spare which was thrilling. The guys working that night were super friendly! Well worth it.

Andy Steeves

Fantastic! It was so much fun! We wanted to do another room right away! We will definitely be back.

Kimberly McNally

Awesome! And no we didn't make it out!

Erin Rose

It was well done. A just right challenge--we did ex machina and although we didn't escape, we only had 4 more steps to go. Would definitely go back.

Michael Marshall

Completed a room can't wait to see the others.

My girlfriend and I absolutely loved coming here. We are both puzzle gamers and had not done an escape room together before, but the staff were extemly helpful and the puzzles were particularly challenging, though not to the point that it was unsolvable. Overall, it was a really fun experience and im looking forward to doing it the next time we are in providence! Would recomend to puzzle lovers anywhere.

Very fun. I did my first and second escape rooms at this location. They make it very inviting and fun for both new and experienced players. Great staff, challenging rooms, and a great system overall. Highly recommended.

Was a lot of fun...even though we didn't escape we did the bunker ...would def do it again!!

Some of the best rooms we have ever done!!!

Super fun for a group of family with older kids

Christine Tacos Blandino

Hidden gem. Great for testing relationships lol!

Keith Tremblay

The most fun I've had in a long time. So well put together. Our team finished with around 3 minutes to go. We got maybe 5 or so hints during the hour, and they weren't flat out telling you exactly what to do, so it wasn't so bad. I can't wait to go back and try the other two games!

First time doing an escape room, did The Gallery as a group of ten. An absolute blast....there was just the right balance between the difficulty of the puzzles and the number of things from previous areas that one needed to memorize and/or keep in handy to use again. For what it is worth, I feel the Gallery would be best when done in a group of 6+. We finished with two minutes to spare!

Samuel Kaufman

We had loads of fun. Lots of different puzzles to solve.

Jon Sargent

Everything was great. People, environment and overall experience were fantastic and I will be back to try the Gallery after finishing the Study. I will also be coming to each and every new room they create. Thank you!

Jonathan Amaya-Hodges

Awesome escape the room that's definitely worth doing! Really like the new rooms they add and they do a great job making you think. Room escapes are fun in general but they do a particularly good job here!

I wish I could leave something like 3.8 stars. I'm very conflicted about writing this review. On the one hand, I had a ton of fun and I would absolutely go back. The people were extremely nice and as far as I could tell (this was my only Escape experience) they had a very cool set of scenarios. The puzzles were challenging and the ones that worked (more on that below) were for the most part quite clever. There weren't many puzzles that I felt were difficult to solve just for the sake of being difficult (though there was one in the room that I would re-do if I were them, as it really wasn't clear) On the other hand, in the room my friends and I booked (Ex Machina) three puzzles were broken (I wont say exactly how since I don't want to give anything about the room away!) but sufficed to say they functioned as red herrings throughout our time there. (We didn't solve the room, but were within 4 steps of doing so, I can't help but feel if the broken puzzles had functioned properly and we had been able to stop considering them as "pending solution" we might have actually completed the room, which is frustrating!) Additionally annoying was that our operator had trouble determining what we were stuck on when we needed a hint because we had circumvented these broken puzzles (if a puzzle that produced a key was broken the lock the key in question would unlock was left unlocked at the start... so from the very beginning we were able to "solve" some puzzles that we shouldn't have been able to if the room was 100% functional.) Due to this confusing uncertainty about what we had solved versus what we had not our operator kept giving us the same hint for the last ~20 minutes or so but the hint was for a puzzle that was broken and we did not actually need to complete the room. This wasn't his fault and when he finally came to debrief us we finally all understood what had happened, but it doesn't totally remove the slight bittersweet fact that we may have proceeded further had we not been misdirected to a puzzle we had (unbeknownst to us) circumvented. Overall, I would go back, and I had a ton of fun (as did, I believe, my compatriots) but I would have gladly waited a few more minutes to start if it meant the room was fully working.

First time to Escape the Room we have a Company Party where we rented the entire place, about 20 people split in to teams we all figure out how to escape, but it was tough, I have to say the people working there are top notch super helpful and make it fun! I highly recommend this as a team building exercise for your company!

Lisa Golz

Great experience at Escape RI! While we didn't escape, it was still a great time!

Sabrina Pelletier

I have yet to miss a room since Escape RI opened and all their games have been top notch! This is my favorite place to do escape rooms because of their creativity and amazing staff. We always have a great time whether we escape or not. Highly recommend!

One of my favorite escape room locations in New England. They bring in new rooms every few months. I have done them all. None were disappointing.

Zoe Chaves

I did ‘The Study’ with 3 friends and 2 strangers. We all had a blast. I plan to return with my colleagues to do ‘The Gallery’. The puzzles are really interesting and the commitment to the theme is well done — they set the scene well but it’s not tacky or overly reliant on effects (versus 5 Wits in MA which is fun but more about the effects than the strength of the puzzles). There’s a monitor in each room so the operators can feed you clues so you don’t get stuck for too long. This keeps things moving + interesting and means Escape RI ‘scales’ well for people of all ages and puzzle solving abilities. The operators were good at feeding us clues at the right time, and were generally friendly and knowledgable. Overall, Escape is a really fun activity for any kind of group! Highly recommend.

austin watson

Was a great experience with challenging puzzles

Beth Peckham

Wicked fun! It was perfect for us (mom, dad, 20 & 16). The puzzles were fun, tricky, and really made us work together. Great family time and gave us plenty of dinner conversation afterwards. You really have to try this at least once.

Billy Reed

It was really fun. It was hard but fair they gave you everything you needed to solve the puzzles. I would totally try the other room worth the money spent

Jen Leo

I promise that nothing pops out at you in the mausoleum. Its a good puzzle and I had a lot of fun with my friends and strangers :)

Ahmed Almuhanna

Amazing place to have a bit of fun with your friends, came back 3 times cause it was that fun to play !

I'm a fan of escape rooms. I've done escape rooms all throughout Massachusetts (where I live)/the Tri Sate area, and even some on the West Coast while I was on vacations. I've done both scenarios here (the Study was mediocre and the Gallery was just trying to give them another chance) and when they retire a scenario and add a new one, I just won't be coming back. It's not that you're in a room with strangers. We've done rooms with strangers, and it's cool that they bring something new to the table (like, I don't love solving math clues, but maybe the guy in the blue shirt does). However, at most escape rooms, they have several different game scenarios. In most, it's just you and your party in the room. In some, you buy your tickets and can be put with strangers if you don't buy out the room. I like that there are options. Sometimes, I'll really love the idea of working with other people, but we've been more successful just by ourselves and sometimes it's fun to just have a date night. One big issue we had with the Gallery was that there were up to TEN people in the room with you. It's really hard communicating with ten strangers. Everyone has different styles and ways to handle the rooms, but it's tough to stay organized with so many other people. Also, some of the rooms were super cramped, so we all bumped into one another and knocked things down melee style. An issue I had with both rooms are that there weren't enough clues. If there are 3 clues in the first room, and they're all very small (so you have to huddle around) or they're one person clues, 4-7 people are going to be bored to tears. Simple solution (in my opinion) is to make fewer rooms with more clues so that nobody is just hanging out with nothing to do. Finally, the game makers REALLY make or break the game. After the scenarios, I like them to come into the room and walk you through what you weren't able to finish, and field questions about the puzzles you didn't solve yourself/ you were curious about. We finished the Gallery, and they just sort of escorted us right out. We didn't finish the Study, but they still took us right out to the lobby sent us on our way. I wasn't thrilled. They don't let you return to try the games again unless you buy out the whole room (I understand--it would be lame if you went into a room and didn't do anything because 3 people whizzed through the first 5/8 of the room they already knew) but I'm not going to buy out 4 extra spots in a room to do the last 10 minutes that I didn't get to. A big responsibility for the game makers is to make sure the customers are having fun. When people are stuck on clues, they give hints on the monitor. In an escape room in Massachusetts, when we had issues with a puzzle not working, our game maker even added a little time to our clock to make up for it. At Escape Rhode Island, our monitor went down for 35 minutes, so we had no way to budget time, and no way to receive clues. We were sitting ducks on a lot of it and they didn't make any effort to help us. It's their job to make sure you're having a good time. They could've found other creative ways to give us the hints or let us know how much time we have (sounds every 5 minutes? slipping notes under the doors? just plain saying it through the wall since we could hear them anyway?) And when our time was up, we had one clue left (and we were about 10 seconds away from solving it). It would've been nice if they'd let us solve it before bursting in. The man who came in said "oh, I had no idea which room you were in, but if I had known you were so close to finishing, I would've let you!" :/ it's just sort of weird. I mean, we gave it 2 chances, and it was mediocre the first time (the Gallery) and downright awful the second time. I'm not going to go back. If you're the type of person who doesn't mind being bored for an hour with a bunch of strangers, it's probably your thing. Maybe if you're not into your partner and you're trying to find someone new. Being stuck, bored with strangers who have similar interests gives you a lot of time to talk.

I've been to this escape room twice. There's hardly a lobby. I went with a large group that had booked the space in its entirety for the evening. There were about 30 of and we were squished with limited mobility. They could really use a bigger space. Room Clues: Rather than provide clues over a speaker or send a staff member into the room with the group like other escape rooms, clues are displayed on one monitor in the space at set intervals throughout the hour. They were displaced temporarily and accompanied by a notification sound. This was frustrating for two reasons: 1. If you happened to be in a room that incorporated multiple rooms, you needed to run back to the start to check the screen for clues. 2. The clues provided a set time intervals were often not relevant by the time they showed up on our screen. In other words, at least one participant was running to the start to check the screen for a clue we no longer needed, wasting time. Room: In the particular room that I completed there was one puzzle that required physical dexterity, which was frustrating and felt out of place. It's been my understanding that escape rooms are more about brains than brawn. Narrative/Theme: The narrative suggested there was information we were meant to find as part of our escape. There was no closure to this narrative. The room was decorated according to the theme, which was believable and I appreciate that. However, we never actually found out what had happened to whom it was we were searching for intel on.

Exciting and fun thing to do with your friends or family!

It was such an adrenaline rush! I went in with a whole team of 6 to the study, and we all had a blast figuring out the puzzles (and there were exactly enough clues to do it). We are already gathering a larger team to tackle the gallery! If you love puzzles, bring a crew and give it a try!

Ryan Carnes

Great time with friends

John

I've done a few 'Escape the Room' style games and this location is by far the best. The rooms are very thoughtfully and creatively designed, everything is put in place for a reason. The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Timothy Boardman

This was a really fun group activity. Our group managed to escape with only minutes to spare. I would definitely go back again for another game!

Brianne Neptin

Friends and I recently tested our problem and puzzle solving skills and it was a blast. We felt very accomplished having escaped, but even if we hadn't, it was well worth the adventure.

Giuseppe Crosti

I have been here twice already and both times were great. Once was with friends and then I came back with my coworkers. The puzzles are incredibly well built, can't wait for new ones to come out!

Stephan Schnitker

Awesome staff, excellent rooms and definitely a challange. We did three rooms in two days and did manage to escape one. Great experience I would highly recommend it!!!!

I had an amazing time at this location! The puzzles were fun and just the right level of challenging without seeming impossible, and the staff running the rooms were wonderful! I'll definitely be back and would highly recommend this location to others!

Monica Dayson

My friends and I got lucky and managed to get in a room on short notice and it was so much fun! The puzzles were interesting, challenging, and engaging, and the people who were working there were really friendly! It was a great activity for a Sunday afternoon and I'd love to go back again to try a different room!

First time doing escape game. I did the Study and loved it. The puzzles are challenging but fun

Rachel Keen

Such a fun time! Right amount of challenge to hints. Even the entry to the building helps set the scene for your investigation!

Allii Rose

I work at a summer camp and my staff and I went for bonding. We had a PHENOMENAL time in the Ex Machina room with Joey as our guide. He was funny and dealt with our jokes, singing and antics and played along with us! The way that clues were revealed and the difficulty level was INTENSE! We are definitely coming back for another bonding event!

Shawn Elisha Simmons

As an escape room enthusiast who has seen all the manner of good, poor, and average rooms, I have seen greatly varying games from the same company. Escape Rhode Island is one of the only companies who has consistently provided engaging puzzling, unique sets, and compelling stories. Each room is truly stellar for its own reasons, The Bunker for its incredible dated yet advanced feel, The Speakeasy for its sustained (and truly brilliant) puzzling and well implemented tech, The Mausoleum for its horror aspects and interesting tasks, and Space Station Andromeda for its futuristic vibe and difficult puzzles. This company is an incredible location for new and old players alike, and also has an incredible staff who really make you feel welcome, which is something not many companies do. Overall, this location is a must for anyone who enjoys unique and challenging experiences.

Victoria Uustal

It was HARD! We did The Gallery for my mom's birthday - so the 9 of us ended up being the only people in the room which was nice in this instance to not have outside people with us. Puzzles were kind of cramped into certain areas so only a few people could be trying to find/solve them while others kind of stood around waiting. When we were able to move on to the next section of puzzles, we started getting the hang of it but the puzzles were HARD. Don't get me wrong, I like that they were but it was frustrating when we got stuck on some for wayyyyy too long. The monitors were great in giving us clues- I felt dumb from the number of clues we had to get but appreciated them for their help. Apparently the negative comment I just read was taken to heart because when our clock ran out, one of the monitors came in and helped us figure out what we had really been stuck on. I will definitely be back! My mom suggests that when the clock runs out you have the guy from Saw come in with a knife or something and tell you "TIME'S UP!!!!" :)

Really fun experience! If you've never done an escape room, grab some friends and try it out. Great way to spend an hour (or less if you can make it out in time)! Prices are pretty reasonable too for what they offer.

Christopher Donovan

We did the Mausoleum and had a great time. There is a good level of 'atmosphere' to help immerse you into the game and the puzzles are challenging without being unrealistic. There is a lot to explore and is probably best with 3+ people. There were a lot of hints that came through the video screen, which certainly helped move us along, but at the same time kind of made you feel like you were getting too much of a leg up, I wish we had been able to request a few hints by request only. Will definitely be back to check out the other rooms.

michelle blechman

Great experience! Fun and challenging with our entire family. Highly recommend if you want to try something new and see how well you can solve puzzles.

A fun puzzle with lots of variety.

You're never to old to play Escape RI. We proved that. We had 12 family members divided into 2 teams, youngsters vs. elders, playing in identical rooms. The youngsters (age 30+) beat the the elders who had no prior experience, but the elders had just as much fun, maybe more. The elders are 62 to 69 years old.

I'd never done an Escape Room before but a lot of my friends had, and I was really excited to try one out in Providence. I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just say that the puzzles are varied which means everyone gets a chance to shine. It's a fun space, and I'd definitely recommend it for a group of friends or a family.

Ann Picard

My daughters took me to Escape RI for my birthday. We had a great time! It was our 1st time “escaping “. We chose The Bunker. It was way too difficult for our team, lots of calculating, (not my thing) and complicated puzzles. We still had fun trying. I’m definitely going back for more! I’m going to attempt the Speakeasy next!

Kelley B

My office played The Bunker and though we failed, we were sooo close! Great challenge & fun time! Highly recommend!!

Matthew Amaral

Amazingly fun and so worth doing! Beware--the adage "know thy self" is fundamental to whom you decide to escape the room--if youbarent cool under pressure don't let these games be the genesis for your divorce. GREAT TIME HERE! HAVE FUN WITH IT! Bring a group!

Scott Larson

I am still trying to escape Rhode Island! Jokes aside this was a fun way to spend an evening.

Laura Spiegler

Great fun! Friendly staff.

Had such a blast with my group of 7. Clues were hard but luckily we got out before an hour. The workers are very friendly and even though the bunker room is considered the hardest we made it out! Would def go back to try the other smaller rooms!

Christine Geib-Ayala

Did not appreciate the atmosphere, the lobby was disheveled, and the whole place was downright dirty. It smelt like a teenage boys bedroom (NOT pleasant). The props didn't work right/were worn out, so we wasted a lot of time trying to get the props to function. Puzzles were difficult, and just unsolvable to amateur puzzlers. The guide was in no way useful to providing a good experience for us. Just all around, not a great experience.

Stu H

Nelson Caetano

Love this location! Our group of 10 escaped the gallery today. The puzzles were creative and we'll constructed. Just the right amount of difficulty, enough to give you an adrenaline rush when you solve something, but not so challenging it becomes frustrating. The only aspect this room lacked was depth of immersion, by the time I escaped the room I couldn't remember why we were trying to in the first place.

Felicia Mahar

We wanted to do a family team event and this was just the challenge. It was fast paced and very mentally challenging on all levels for all ages. You have to be totally present and using all faculties from hearing, seeing, reasoning and doing. All ages can participate and add toward solving the puzzles, the fun continues after the event with sharing what was contributed to how that led to next revelation. Time management is one of the major keys to escaping so be mindful. To improve quality in comfort, adding a small bench to sit and rest while in the event, some of us have weak knees. Fun for the whole family.

Melanie Pina

I was really excited about going on our date night here. Your website says you are open until 12am...We get here and they are closing So you might want to change that I'm really upset!!!!!

We just solved the puzzle at the last second, literally. It was fun though. We did the study (green room) for six people. The puzzles are challenging but not extremely difficult. Really, try not to overthink things. The best part about working in a group is that everyone has their own strengths, so using them to work together helps to go through the puzzles a bit easier.

Heather Moran

This was our first time. We can't wait to try another room!!

Elyse Anderson

We had fun. Tight waiting area but the room itself was a good challenge. Went with a team of six.

justine dutilly

This was extremely fun The hour flashes by. If you have a fear of being trapped, like I do, you will be fine. You can get out if you need to but your team will be down a member. Very creative and I cannot wait to return and try to ESCAPE!

Conan Sullivan

My two daughters and I paired up with two other wonderful people for our initial foray into the Escape Room experience here at Escape Rhode Island. The operator/leader (Mary) was wonderful and very helpful and provided just a couple of hints to keep us on the right track. We tackled the Andromeda Station and after a bit of a slow start to get oriented, managed to escape with just over 3 minutes to spare. The puzzles are challenging and everyone contributes. The rooms are set up very well and we are looking forward to trying another room soon.

Shar Paquette

Great venue, great puzzles, great staff! What a fun thing to do with your friends!

So much fun! Our family of 4 did Andromeda with 2 other people. Great puzzles and the kids (12 and 15) were able to contribute and have fun.

Nicole Tillery

Fun set of escape rooms with friendly and helpful staff. Some of the rooms are a bit ridiculous for an hour but they give you time afterwards to wrap up the puzzle

Jamie Williams

Becky Hargreaves

I had never been to anything like this before. I had always wanted to. I am very happy with my experience and look forward, actually can't wait, to try a new room. I was with a group of six, planned so we all knew each other, and we did the Study. Next time we plan on doing the Gallery with a group of 10. I do like that when you are having a bit of trouble, you are given a clue on the countdown screen. Staff was very pleasant to work with. And I am very happy to say the we escaped with just under 3 minutes to spare!! I have even suggested it as a team outing for work. It would be great for a team building exercise, since you really do have to work together to solve the puzzles. I will definitely be back again and highly recommend this place.

Anthony Markowitz

Escape Rhode Island was my favorite Providence experience so far, right up there with the WaterFire.

Lori Nold

Super fun!

paula charpentier

This was my first escape game so I really don't have much to compare it with. I booked the full venue and ended up with 6 people for the study. I think it was much better with all friends and that is why I took the whole room even if it turned out to only be a couple of us. Some of the beginning clues were easy to get you started and then got more challenging . There is a count down clock and if it looks like your getting stuck they send you little hints to help. We did not make it out but got real close. Once the game is over they do take you back and go over what you missed. Think the gallery might be a little too large with ten people but would definitely go back to do another study

Adam Kdonian

Great experience and fun puzzles!

Really well done. Challenging and a lot of fun...a great team exercise for family, friends, or co-workers. Thanks for the great experience.

Stephen Colson

So much fun! They are not kidding when they tell you the success rate is less than 20%. We attempted the study with two other couples and came so close. Totally not what I expected but in a GOOD way. Can't wait to return and try a different puzzle.

Mystery Room Critics

The room itself felt cool, we did the Sherlock Library Room and honestly we wish we had done a different room because Justin (shout out) showed us the Gameroom and that one appeared to be more intriguing. The staff was very caring and looked out for us to make sure that our visit was up to standard. The one complaint was that you had to work with younglings who were just simply... dead weight. Would suggest!

This is the most fun you will ever have in an hour. It is the perfect combination of challenge and reward. I've been back 4 times!!!

Jason Eastty

So far I've played two rooms here, Ex Machina and The Masoleum. Both of them are great rooms with great puzzles. You will not be disappointed spending your time and money here.

Leli W

Really fun! We enjoyed the puzzles and the overall humor of the guys running it. 10/10 would come again for another of the rooms!

Jennifer Jacobs

We always have fun here! The rooms are difficult enough to stay entertained but not so difficult that we've failed one yet. This is the perfect place if you enjoy solving puzzles that go with a theme! Employees are always friendly and easygoing as well.

Lauren Austrian-Parke

I've done several room escapers in general, and both of the ones I've done here have had a good number of puzzles of great quality with good production values. They're also good at giving hints, but not too many.

Rob Dias

We had a blast! First timers.

Vin Kowalczyk

Great puzzle design and incredibly friendly staff. It was a wonderful experience. They are changing up their rooms regularly too, so there are plenty of opportunities to return.

Eric LePage

Great time! We've done two games so far, and they are super challenging and fun. The staff are amazing - very helpful, kind, and courteous. Highly recommended for a fun night out with friends!

We had a great time trying to get out of that room. I would highly recommend this for a fun night out. The youngest individual in our party was 16 and they had a blast.

Leia Dwyer

Really great escape room experience! My friends who had done others around Boston said this was the best yet! High quality set design and puzzles.

Chris B

Great place for group fun. Staff is very nice and rooms are designed with interesting puzzles.

Elise D

What a great time! Just myself and my daughter (14) played this past weekend. Without giving any of the clues away, we thought we had won at one point, and then found out there was a whole other set of clues we had to do to complete it! It was a lot of fun. what I will say is that the staff there is super helpful. They kindof pepper you with clues throughout the process which helps keep the game interesting and keep everyone on task. I liked the spy music they played in the room and it was honestly a lot of fun. I would highly recomend this ! Oh, and we did the study (red) if that helps! A really fun time! :

We had a great time! Tough puzzles, great location and staff. We will definitely be back.

This escape room was by far the best I have done, but it was super hard, still had a great time and alot of laughs.

Absolutely fantastic time! Our host was great and you could tell he loved his job. We managed to solve the Ex Machina puzzle room and had a blast doing it. We'll be back for sure!
