REVIEWS OF Beavertail State Park IN Rhode Island

One of my favorite places to go...my top 5 scenic drives in RI. Weekends gets bit crazy and packed. But worth it. Sunsets are amazing there!! Well worth every obstacle..to get there. Enjoy the fresh air!

Barbara Wilson

Austin Bell

Janine Cote

Mother's day eve with my beloved son!

James Corey

There are two sides to this park. One has jagged rocks and is exposed to the open sea. You can watch waves crash and soak in the open ocean ambiance through all of your senses. The other side has small lagoons, cliffs that slope down to tiny, secluded beaches, and trails through the woods that open up to vast expanses looking over Narragansett Bay. Come here for a picnic, bring the family, bring the one you're about to propose to, or sneak down at night and take a romantic skinny dip on your own little private beach soaked in moonlight. Come here to get married or bask in the glory of being single and free. There are public out-houses, vast grassy fields, cliffs, lagoons, rocks to climb (be safe), and endless nooks to explore. It's one of the few places in RI where you can watch the sun rise and set over the water too. Worth a 20 minute stay or all day affair!

Becky Selitte

Kids loved walking on the rocks and looking for crabs etc

Amelia Lord

This is one of my favorite places and I happily make the hour+ drive to visit. One side has beach after hidden beach accessible via steep stone stairs (be careful! It can be pretty slippery). The other side is great for careful rock hopping and looking in tide pools (admittedly we never find anything in them but still, they’re really cool). Beavertail is a great place for kids who are old enough to pick their way across rocks without giving their parents a heart attack. It just feels magical and grand.

Brennan Hill

Bring the bug spray, but this park was a delight. Hit the cove off parking lot 1

Prateek Suryaprakash

Perfect place for a sunrise morning...

Lauren Fobert

Always has been my favorite place in RI. I've been coming here all my life. I've taken family and friends from out of state here over the years and they all loved it to. Along with all 3 of my children. Great place for all ages.

Kennisha A

Recommend visit this place

Leslie Marroquin

It's our happy place!!

DEBADRITA PAL

Excellent view, excellent spot for the sunset. I could spend hours sitting there and watching the waves. Apart from, the winters are really chilly so the best time would be during Summers to visit.

Rebecca Shannon

Great park with beautiful views! Got my engagement pictures done here and they turned out beautiful!

Bradly Widener

What a stunning place! Can get kind of crowded and parking can be a little difficult near the lighthouse. Our dog loved climbing on the rocks with us. Fun place to have a quick exploration around the water. Great informational signs around explaining different bits of history. Amazing views all around! Watch out for ticks, however.

Anthony Maccarone

Plenty of parking available and great views! Word of warning though: with the constant breeze, you really won't notice mosquitos landing on you as it gets later in the evening - please remember to bring bug repellent.

Eric St.Denis

Great park with great views.

Anthony Manzi

One of my favorite spots in the state to sit and relax and taken the cliffs and ocean

Kate Berti

Easy to find private nooks

Kara Kunst

This is a great spot for picnicking or just relaxing by the water. Incredible sunset views and very walkable cliffs (wear good shoes with some traction).

John Kelly

Beautiful views of lighthouse and boat traffic. No swimming officially. People manage to find inlet beach coves by parking in the first parking lot and walking back to the right. Most hang out in chairs catching the south west breeze . Caution the rocks are quite slippery. Sudden waves have wash many into the water.

Gordon Sims

Lots of little secret beaches to explore.

Mel Rios

Breathtaking views.... Beautiful area and an outdoor lovers dream. Plenty of areas to hike and rocks / cliffs to go down and explore. Just drive in and you'll get panoramic views at the point. Anyone can get a chair out and enjoy (elderly, handicapped, etc). Many tide pools at low tide if you climb down the rocks. We will definitely be back.

John Dugan

Mackenzie Lynne

This is a true gem of Rhode Island. A beautiful piece of pristine rocky coastline with a historic lighthouse museum. I dare anyone to not find peace and beauty in this place. Come for a nice picnic or lovely sunset views. Dogs are welcome and everyone will enjoy exploring this rocky shore. They do have restroom facilities, even though they are composting toilets in the portopotty style they have always been clean when I have been there. There are multiple parking lots and most days parking is never an issue. A must see spot in southern Rhode Island!

Rob Mills

Great for people who love the ocean! The lighthouse/museum is a pretty important landmark here, and I think they might give tours, but I don't know for sure. Great place to come to fish, you can just pick a giant rock and throw a line in the water. Plenty of grass, water, and wildlife around. One of my favorite places to just hang out and get some sun, or maybe even have a picnic. If you do come here, PLEASE TAKE WHATEVER TRASH YOU HAVE WITH YOU AND DISPOSE OF IT. Please, keep our oceans and parks clean. Thank you.

Barbara Scanlon

Truly beautiful relaxing, ocean waves, spectacular views plus history.

Martha C

Gorgeous ocean views. I recommend the lighthouse exhibit. The people who work it are super knowledgeable and friendly.

Oscar Rodriguez

Fantastic experience, caught the first fis within 3 minutes. It certainly wasn't a disappointment

This is a wonderful seaside hiking spot. If you're in the area, live in RI or are from out of town visiting RI, stop here and spend some enjoying the great ocean view!

Brianna Marcille

I just went on a barefoot nature walk with a group of people and I must say it was the most amazing thing I have done in so long! The park is absolutely gorgeous! The trails are easy to walk! The beaches are so clean and clear! It was absolutely spectacular!

Anne Salisbury

Beautiful, clean, views are so pretty.Nice and quiet. No riff faff..

Mark Michalski

Great scenery. Spent some time with my granddaughter on the rocks.

bob champayne

Since the state took it over they have let nature take over allowing the fields to be overgrown. While in the Navy I used to scuba dive there and it was a beautiful clear landscape now its overgrown with only small areas that are useable. Typical RI state government

Lenny Leduc

Plenty of parking. Beautiful views.

James Engel

One of the most beautiful spots in RI overlooking Newport on one side and Narragansett on the other. If you like ocean and Bay views along with numerous sailboats and powerboats you'll love this.

Nikki V

It is absolutely beautiful here! Great area to go on an adventure. Great hiking spot. Some areas you have to walk through are a bit muddy so wear appropriate shoes if it rained. Semi tall grass so watch out for ticks. There are dogs off leash so be prepared. Ones i ran into were extremely friendly. Besides that, it is just a relaxing peaceful atmosphere. Definitely will be back soon

R Wheeler

A great walking, biking & fishing park. This park located on the island of Jamestown RI has some of the best water views. Easy to get to off the Jamestown bridge.

Laurie Arshonsky

Lovely visit with lighthouse docent and learned of its history. Nice gift shop!

Peaceful uncrowded and clean.

This is one of the most beautiful seashore parks I've ever visited in my life. A must see, spectacular.

Monica cano

Linda Caldwell

Love this place

j leg

Wonderfully beautiful

Brandy Desourdy

Absolutely beautiful park. No doubt about it, ive been coming here for years! Weather I go for a hike or pick a rock to lay out on.. Always a good time. My latest visit, however, left me with some dissapointment. This place is becoming quite popular, with that being said I am very unpleased to mention all the trash I've seen left behind and not cared for. Even the trails could use some tlc aswell. I almost contimplated bring my clippers with me next time.. Just a little something to bring to light, other than that, I love it here.

Melissa Devine

One of my favorite places in the entire state of Rhode Island.

Duncan McAuley

Beautiful! I've only been here once, though, and I only live maybe 30 minutes away. Gotta come back more often.

Rachel Watrous

Great place to sit and watch the ocean. Bring a picnic, go explore the tide pools, hike the loop all around. It is wonferful.

Carol Brown

Home! My sister and brother-in- law picked me up from6 the airport. Had lunch at Crow's Nest, great seafood.

Ana Santos Hernandez

Magic place for walking eating and have a good time whit Family and friends

Marlana Stone

Perfect spot for a picnic, quiet spots to sit and enjoy the Ocean waves. You can easily walk along the rocks (my kids did great and they r under 12) such an awesome place to explore

Charlie Hudson

This park is a "must visit" for me, at least once a year, more if the surf is up. It's not big but it's on a peninsula so there are waves and views in many directions. These photos were taken of Hurricane Dorian (TS as it passed by). PS Best outhouses ever!

Bill Kaiser

Nice park with nice views. I only stopped by few a short visit but it was accessible and clean.

WLT

Rhode Island has some beautiful state parks, but this one is just a little bit more stunning than the rest. With paths alongs the waters edge, I often see wildlife like deer, owls, fish. It is right on a point with a light house sitting at the end. Make sure to bring your camera.

William De Rita

I love the way the wind blows.

Rita Hansen

Spectacular natural!

Robert Dosdourian

Best time to visit is on a windy day as the tide rolls in because the crashing of the waves against the rocks is fun to watch.

Laura Michaud

Beautiful place to enjoy the ocean views during the day and at night. To the right you can see Narragansett and to the left you can see Newport. At night, you get a lovely view of the starry sky. It’s a great place for sunsets, stargazing, or just rock climbing and picnicking.

Nathan Bissell

This is my favorite place in the state. The kids love climbing on the rocks, and there are a few hidden spots where swimming is safe. I stop here a couple times a week on my way to work.

Erica Steckert

I've always loved climbing on the Rocks here and finding new Treasures

Dianna Steiner

Wonderful place! So pretty.

Rolande Fecteau

Refreshing, beautiful views of ocean, gorgeous sunsets!

Monica Claros

Nice views , good area for walking.

Charles Lautieri

One of the more beautiful spots to visit in the beautiful State of Rhode Island.

Mystic Fiyah

My all-time favorite place in RI. Just be careful on the rocks. It can be slippery.

Christine Chivers

Fantastic views takes your breath away xxx

Carlos Brum

If you're sensitive to natural energy and the boost it gives you this is the place to go. Between the coves and three paths through three trees your nerves will be singing for joy.

Oren Jenkins

Interesting and informative :) Please be careful if you venture out onto the rocks to be closer to the ocean.

Deb Pinky1

It's a great place to take your dogs. Nice views of all the boats in Newport. Quiet. Dogs love it.

Lydia Lagerberg

Beautiful place to spend an entire day or just watch the sunrise or sunset.

Christopher O'Hare

A very scenic, by the water, pleasant park. Well kept with good views. An awesome old lighthouse. Even the seagulls seem at ease. Not too crowded. A nice breeze and good for photographers.

Carl Braun

Beautiful spot

Matthew

Nice piece of Rhode Island. Great scenery. Nice place to have a picnic or bring your dog. There are public restrooms but no food vendors. There is also a light house museum that has sea life exhibits that kids will enjoy. The best thing to do in my opinion is to explore the rocks along the shore. Be careful doing that with little kids or if your a person who is not used to that sort of thing. Just be careful when you are close to the water. You could easily slip and the currents can be very strong.

Rachael Herbison

Always beautiful, always clean. I always love to be here.

Matt McIntyre

I'm a fan of all the Rhode Island state parks, but during the summer Beavertail was our favorite place to catch some sun. There's plenty of parking available, and the portable toilet facilities are actually well maintained. There are plenty of access points to go and walk out on the rocks, or just hang out on the lawn areas. Even during the winter it's been a nice peaceful walk.

Michael Penton

One of the most beautiful places in New England. I find it amazingly peaceful, and almost spiritual in a way. It's in a location most people just pass by on the way to Newport. Don't pass it by. Just take the time to stop even if it's only for an hour.

Cherie Stabile

Had an amazing time! The views where spectacular

Rob

Great place to go and drink

Jake DeFord

Amazing experience. Had a lot of fun. Would recommend

Bruce Bromberg Seltzer

It is a beautiful state park on a point at the edge of the island. It contains a historic lighthouse that replaced the 3rd lighthouse in the us. Bring sturdy shoes to walk the rocks and check out the charming lighthouse museum.

Jessica Hubbard

Beautiful! And clean

Claudette Moore

Wonderful place to go to

Mary Grande

Beautiful beaches

Scott Davidson

Bever Tail was AMAZING as always! The wife and I threw the folding chairs in the car, grabbed our books and a grinder on the way......6 hours later we are more relaxed than ever!

Daniel Sheehan

This State Park leads to the 3rd oldest lighthouse in the USA. 20-30 foot cliffs and rocky ledges greet the sea. Imagine soaking up the sun watching the waves slowly chipping away at the granite rocks. Then greeting the darkness as the historic lighthouse comes to life. The sea birds and others singing in orchestra for your pleasure. The tender parking lot holding your vehicles tires ever so sweetly. Did I mention the free parking?

gary steffens

Breeze was awesome, fish were not biting. Bad day fishing is better then a good day working.

Scott Hearn

Historical and very beautiful a place to fish, picnic and enjoy the day with Family

Brianne Davidson

Came in winter to enjoy the crisp & stunning beauty of the ocean on the rocks. Will come back in spring/summer to tour the lighthouse & explore more!

A Smith

It was without a doubt, one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. One side is rocky and the other side is a beach. There were a lot of people but getting in and out was not bad and it was easy to find a parking spot, in the middle of July. It is an amazing place. We found it by accident and I am so glad we did. I can not recommend it enough!

Phil J

Great views of Narragansett bay, and Newport from across the water. There’s a lighthouse (Beavertail Lighthouse), and mostly rocky shoreline which many people fish from. A nice place to watch and photograph the sunrise or sunset.

Ron Gagne

Great place to watch the sun set. Come early if you want any hope of parking. Beautiful even on a winter afternoon. Great views even from the parking area. There's a reason this is the most photographed places. It is beautiful! The surrounding area is great for hiking and taking photos as well. It was well worth the drive to check it out, everything is very picturesque with the waves crashing against the rocks that are covered in greenery and bright flowers. just natural beauty, definitely add this to your "must see" items.

Erik Gardner

Beavertail has always been a yearly go to for our family, jumping off the rocks and finding tiny secluded beaches on the west side is always a blast. The kids have a blast every time no matter the age!

Melissa Blass

Secret little gem. Tiny lagoons. Postcard picture perfect. Easy trails.

Kathleen Crudele

Best place on earth

John Snyman

Lovely camping areas, beautiful sunset

Mister Guy

Site of one of the oldest lighthouses in America with a view of the open ocean and a free museum.

Greg Serpa

Beautiful scenery. Absolutely worthwhile. Trailheads are not marked well if you're going to hiking and there is a warning about ticks. Just so you know. Dogs are allowed on leash. Take a camera and climb out on the rocks for an awesome view of the coast.

Steve Marques

Spectacular views of the ocean and surrounding shorelines. Best place to watch sunsets and sunrises in Rhode Island

Rick Meli

Great place to walk, hike, paint and just plain hang out. Special in the winter, crowed in the summer.

David Ross

Cool light house. Nice cliffside views of the ocean.

J D

Just come to Beavertail SP if you want to experience the best Rhode Island has to offer. The drive through Jamestown is beautiful and the entrance to the park has a nice big sign welcoming you. There is plenty of parking but try to arrive early since it will fill up quickly on a nice day. The actual park is nothing short of spectacular thanks to the expansive panoramic views of the bay as well as the stunning rocky shoreline. You can even go down to the water's edge since there is a small stairway leading from the walkway in front of the lighthouse. From there you will get an amazing view of the lighthouse. It is also notably cooler than the surrounding areas thanks to the consistent sea breeze. We stopped here on our way home from Newport so be sure to check it out if you are in the area. This is a truly breathtaking piece of Rhode Island!

Robyn Rease

It's my happy place!!!

Jason Muccio

A pleasant and quiet place to spend the day exploring and resting. My daughter brought me and our out of state family here, a place she adores. We enjoyed reading about the history and making great memories.

David French

Great place with great views!

Christina A

I absolutely love this place. Any time I am RI I go to Beavertail. You must get down on the rocks.

Suzanne DeTore

Very clean park and well taken care of.

Corliss Gallows

We have been coming here for 10 or so years and there is no other place we want to go. It's never crowded or noisy, no one smoking, and its remarkably clean. We love that we can bring our dog and he gets to climb rocks and hang with us. Also it's a perfect place for me to mermaid ! So if you visit on the weekends look out for a mermaid splashing around ♡

Angela State

Another amazing day!

Robyn Snider

Lighthouse Museum was very interesting

Aaron O

Beautiful sunsets!

tina fontaine

Wonderful place to go sit by the water & relax & beautiful views

Bryan

Incredible park, with incredible views! The park is easy to access and not too busy, it’s off the beaten path so not too many people go there however any photo you take even with the flip phone is memorable and worthy of being posted online. A lot of history in this area and great views of Narragansett Bay. Great spot for summer picnic or just a lunchtime walk.

Chris Sheehy

Absolutely beautiful. A perfect picnic spot, grab a sandwich from town and eat it here.

Marcela Florentino

Honestly one of my favorite places in the world. There is a nice grassy area in front of the parking lot for watching the beach, picnics, and for kids/dogs to run around. There are also trails that lead to the rocky water. It’s beautiful, especially at sunset.

chikita sy
