My kids are 5 and 9 and loved it! Wish we would have done a couple days there only because you can't get much in because the lines for rides can be long like any other amusement park. My kids absolutely loved Story Book Forest too though!! It was a great time.

Idlewild is always a good time for the family. It is great for small kids, but there are things for older people too. The Storybook Forest area has a lot of displays that need work, but they've definitely been slowly trying to update it in the last few years. The new castle and signs look great. The water park is great for people of all ages. The whole park is generally clean and family friendly.

Luna Sharp

This quaint little theme park nestled in the forest takes a child on a magical journey. Such iconic rides mixed with modern ones. Lots of space for family picnics and place to enjoy some quality time. The three F's for a child: Fairy tales, food & fun.

So sad - I have lovely childhood memories of this park. The rides are rusty and largely in poor repair. There were boarded up windows and literally holes in walls from wood rot. The setting is pleasant (in the woods), but the glory days are clearly in the past. I hope Dutch Wonderland is able to invest in some serious repairs and upgrades otherwise this park will likely be shutdown by the state within 10 years. Oh, and the food is CRAZY expensive and STUPID low quality, even by amusement park standards.

Brian Ahlborn

The rides were great the food is excellent the only reason I didn't give it five stars was because of the bee's they are everywhere if anyone is really allergic to bee stings i would suggest taking your epi pen with you because more than likely you're going to get stung . There has to be a way to keep them away .

Workers very nice. But park has seriously declined, restrooms inadequate as stalls faucets and dryers not working.. not as clean For the high price of admission it is not acceptable. Big disappointment !

Echo Bubb

I always loved Idlewild. Was here a few years ago and it was in absolutely terrible shape. I would assume with such high admission, it would be in better shape by now. (By leaps and bounds.) When was the last time the shoe was painted in story book? 1990s?? At least some have been maintained lately, but much of storybook forest is so sad. We are here for hallowboo and I'm still not sure why the price is so high for less than half the rides open. If you live close and have season passes, it would be worth it.

Nate F

Seems like it is in such disrepair. Place is not what I remembered from my childhood trip. The owners need to start getting their hands dirty and clean this place up. I would consider it very expensive for what it is. If the work is put in, the price would be more responsible.

Faith Wyse

We all loved it!!! I got my grandkids tickets for Christmas and we used them yesterday, I think it was the best gift I gave them! We all had a wonderful time! The Idlewild & Soakzone was much more than we expected and we couldn't see it all in one day; we will be back!

John Miller

Want to give the lifeguards at the wave pool the props they deserve.. female lifeguard safe a little girl today.. man the girl was in that water in 2 seconds.. great job..

Aaron Rowe

Always a great time but I hadn't been here for a long time. The park looked totally different. There's a wave pool now which is fun but it just wasn't the same place i remembered as a kid with the huge pool and fun slides. They also got rid of all the catfish you could go to the pool fence and feed them bread. There had to be thousands of them. Anyway it's still a great family fun park and I'm sure you'll have a great time there. I wasn't aware how much it changed. It's like a whole new park and it was really nice. It was also very clean and that means a lot to me. We also saw a bald eagle perched on a dead limb while walking to our car.

It does have the outdoorsy appeal but it really can use a fresh coat of paint. Meaning a little upgrade would be nice. There's always something closed. Rides, games, pool slides. Hours are somewhat laughable! Soak Zone closes at 6 pm, Hoot & holler closes around 7 pm, main ride area, closes around 8 pm. If you are in the soak zone and want cheesy fries after it closes, you have to rush changing back into dry clothes and rush to the other side of the park hoping that it stayed open. Then after eating, it get maybe a half hour for some rides. All of this is based on what time they decide to shut things down. I think each section should be open longer and the closing times should ALWAYS be the same.

Dennis Galbraith

Great family park but could use a bit of updating to a more modern family outing. Also two of the rides were out-of-service...tge wild mouse and the howler. Otherwise great fun for my family and I.

Michelle Phillips

I usually love Idlewild but last time I went half the rides in Raccoon Lagoon were closed so there wasn't much I could do with my 1.5 and 5 year old kids. 5 year old couldn't go on much without me but I couldn't leave my 1.5 year old who is just shy of 36 inches. I think if all the rides had been open there would have been a lot more to do. Literally all we could do was the big slide in Jumping Jungle, the carousel, and the turtle ride.

Ashley Clough

Had a wonderful time with my 7 year old daughter! It was a perfect place for her age. It was fun and exciting smaller park which I enjoyed because we could take our time and go to every park of the park without feeling overwhelmed or in a rush. All of the staff was great and the show at the end was just the best.

Renee Schwartz

Not worth the $191 we spent for 3 adults & 3 yr old. I would advise ownership to take money to repair and update Storybook Forrest as well as many other rides, concession stands & landscaping. Also noticed there was not enough staff to open all the games before 2pm. It would ideal the have separate admission pricing for SoakZone or for the entire park.

For the investment I would look else where We were there on a hot day the Idlewild side was moderately busy. Story book forest what a shame ! Either fix it up or close it down .The ponds in the park are full of yuck and smell like sewage all of the attractions are in bad cosmetic shape either rusted out or roted out paints pealing from every building.so my question is if that's how you maintained your buildings how well do you do maintance on the rides? Not impressed for the money I spent

Nicole Tremel

Wonderful park for children. Geared toward the younger crowd. Waterpark is a great place to cool down on a hot day.

James Bauer

Great place , give 5 stars because of all the memories. But place is starting to change and not for the better. Most of the food is out sourced and not a lot of choices. The old coaster now has crazy seats . And alot of the rides ( wild mouse ) never open. But this place has a special place in my heart. Hope it turns around.

jrae342

Story book forest needs some major renovations, they just keep painting over 50 years of chipped paint. The pond look like a tar pit full of scum and bubbles. The upside was the waterpark for the kids. For as nice as it is, it needs to be bigger to accomidate the amount of children they bring in

Anastasia

Great place for the whole family. Smaller rides catered to younger children. And a few rides for older kids too. Season pass well worth it if you plan to go a few times a month.

Chris Gramer

Great park for young kids with a Daniel Tiger theme. Considering all rides are included, the ticket price is very reasonable!

Melissa Coldren

We love Idewild! Our kids are 5 and 8. They love it so much. The rides are perfect for them. The games are average and the usual. Lots of food to choose from also. The face painting is always good. We have not taken advantage of the water park because it ends up being too much extra "stuff" to drag along. Don't miss the trolley through Daniel Tigers neighborhood or the live show.

Joe Pranevich

I hadn’t been here in nearly thirty years and was sure that it could not live up to my memories— I was wrong. What an amazing gem of an amusement park! My son loved it as much as I used to.

Michelle Gallant

We love this place, the only reason why I did not give it a 5 was because we have seen many times where staff has small children that you can tell aren't tall enough on rides then ones that are close get measurements taken and denied. The rule has to be in place for all kids as it's for their safety.

Mike Hans

I do like this place for family and kids. We have a 3 year old and it's great to have both water park, kiddie park, and amusement park together . There is lots of trees for shade. I gave this a 4 star instead of 5 due to the lack of variety for dinner. The smokehouse restaurant and sandwich area and fry area are very good but it does get old after awhile. Some of the rides weight restrictions can make it difficult for families to ride together on rides. The shops and restaurants tend to close before the park does which does not make sense. Many would prefer to shop and eat as they leave before making the drive home I feel they are missing on that opportunity as well as it makes it difficult to purchase last minute gifts without dragging through the whole park. All and all its a great family park and is a good getaway there are better parks but for the cost and age of our young family this place works.

hi there

This wasn't a very good park. The workers could have been a little nicer. Also the prices arnt the best $12 for and undercooked funnel cake and a small drink. Also I couldn't go on some of the rides I was "too big" I'm 5'10"and 240lbs (the limit was 265) but the worker said I was too heavy and let out a surprised "wow" when I stepped on. Storybook forest was the best part despite being run-down and unsafe for little ones. P.s. If you're gonna have live animals in your park at least wash them and give them food and water.

Lorenzo D

The lines were short. But it is very outdated. The bathroom I walked into had 3 stalls out of order and 1 of the 2 sinks out of order. There were bees all over because of the garbage. But besides that the kids had fun. Soakzone was the best part of our trip

Dzzlgrl

Fun low key park for families. Offers a different type of experience from the typical parks that are crammed with as many rides as possible. Even my older children enjoy reliving storybook forest.

Abby Mohan

Fun for a few hours. Only two big rides were closed on the day we were there. They did end up opening one of the closed rides after the pool closed.

Marlene Miller

Definitely not what it use to be, they have really let the place go down hill since we were there last. Stagnant water and not clean or kept up at all. Very disapioning to say the least! I only gave it three stars because we made the best of a bad situation I still enjoyed spending time with our family

raymond everett

Had fun it's was a nice day staff was very friendly the decorations were amazing for the hallaboo !

Bruce Rayner

Park was nice story book forest was in very bad shape hole in things and needs painted and cleaned. My grand children kept saying things. For the price I paid today it would of paid for the paint. Hope the they clean and fix it for the children. I have been going there since 1966 when I was 2 and it alway stood out in my memory when I went and how great it was.

Rich Haren

Great time for kids 2 and up. A lot of the kids rides are 36" but don't let that turn you away. Plenty enough things to do for kids off all ages.

Kari Dillon

First trip for my family....nice park. Love that you don't have to pay for parking! Ticket price was reasonable. I have a 9 & 3 year old--- there were many things for both of them to do. We will return!

Jason.N Alyssa.

Nice place for the kids and family to enjoy themselves.. You will have a great time at this place. It will leave long lasting memories would and will return again

Peter Yiannou

Great for kids who love Daniel tiger. Don't waste your time with mother goose area. Its a good way to burn an hour that could've been spent inside the park.

Shawn Pratt

This is a kid's dream park. They have a variety of rides for the little ones, Daniel tigers neighborhood and storybook forest. Not to mention Idlewild soakzone on a hot sunny day. If you have kids and haven't been highly recommend, you'll be a regular after that.

Bryce Jones

I am TOTALLY done with this park! Too babyish and I don't like when you have to wear a wristband when you first enter the park!!! If you want to go to an Amusement park, go to Kennywood. They no longer give wristbands (Since 2005) and the rides are WAY better! They also have more selections of Kiddie Rides.

Trevor Yeager

Great place for family with kids. My only gripe is that there are bee's EVERYWHERE. Not to many big rides but has a decent water park.

Purple Jiggly

We were there 6/22/19. $46.99 each to get in. Cool, but a bunch of rides were closed. Then my kids got hungry. $26.99 for a microwave DiGiorno quality pizza. What the literal hell is that?

Jennifer Halvaksz

Great, old fashioned, American amusement park. Beautiful setting, great rides for youngsters. Little people can do a lot here and my 7 yo had a ball, too! Daniel Tiger features are very well done. Really clean and the kids staffing the rides are polite and professional.

Brandi Wilesevans

This is the perfect park for young families. My 10 year old loved the rides as did my 3 year old. Kids over 42" tall can ride most of the rides with an adult, so we could enjoy most of the park as a whole family. There are a lot of trees and shade which was fabulous on the hot day we visited. Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood is not to be missed. We will be returning!

Marie Liotta

This is a great park for the whole family. It's definitely geared toward younger children, but I take my 3 teens, and we have a really fun time. The water park has something for everyone, from the Lazy River and Wave pool, to the section for toddlers. I have a disabled daughter. My husband puts her on my lap in the toddler pool, and we enjoy relaxing and watching the little ones. There are family bathrooms and lockers to rent. There are also tents to rent but you can bring your own small tent or umbrella and set it up on the grassy area between the pools. If you come in a wheelchair, be careful to park where it's more wheelchair friendly, either the lot to the left (flat entrance) or lot C. Ask at the gate. They'll direct you. Other entry points have a hill that's hard to navigate. Also there are lots of pavilions for picnicking or hosting a gathering. We have season passes, as do many of our church family. I hope you enjoy!

Idlewild has been one of my favorites since I was a child. I have been looking forward to sharing the experience with my son. However. My family and I went today for First Responders Day, (as we are all firefighters), and I was incredibly disappointed with the staff. It was raining, and calling for storms, so they shut down the water park. Ok, not a big deal. Then announced that they were closing at 5, and we could pick up complimentary tickets to use another day. So when my fellow First Responders and I made our way to guest services, we were told if there was a black sharpie line through our bracelet, we could not receive the tickets. Well, the problem with that was, half of us had sharpie marks. The other half didn't. It seems somewhere there may have been a mix up in communication, especially because an employee came to our rented pavilion and told us to make sure we got our tickets before we left. I understand miscommunication happens. However, the three women working the guest services booth were VERY rude and inconsiderate. All they kept saying was "Well, there will be another First Responders day. You can just come to that one." We know Idlewild has their First Responders day every year on Father's day, and we make plans for it every year. It is summer. We have vacations, work, and other things to plan for. What if we couldn't make it back that day? Eventually a woman named Kathy sorted it out for us and we did get out tickets. Kudos to Idlewild for acknowledging us, and taking the time to make us feel appreciated. But maybe make sure all your staff is on the same page, and maybe offer those ladies at guest services a class on how to talk to customers. Especially ones who were not rude to them.

Amber Squires

As an adult with no kids, this place was a blast! Admittedly a kid at heart, I thoroughly enjoyed the SoakZone and the park rides were a lot of fun. The Spider might be my favorite! Olde Idlewild is adorable too. It's a children's amusement park but I recommend a visit to anyone who's got kids or a little kid inside.

Owen Shotts

They ruined the Roller Coaster with all this safety stuff. My girlfriend "115 pounds" and I "170 pounds" couldn't ride together because we weighed to much. Ridicolous. That ride was fine for around 100 years but all the sudden it was "not safe" The wild mouse and many of the other rides are closed. Idlewild used to be amazing, but the current corporate owners are just running it to the ground.

Lucille Witchita

Great for kids of all ages. Love that it's just like kennywood. Takes a couple days to go through every thing as well as great locale. May need a good bit of money to go but overall great experience. Favorite part was storybook forest, the kids had a blast.

Anne T.

Great family place, excellent for kids! I like that there’s a lot of trees, providing shade on hot days. The Soak Zone is super fun for all ages!

Tiffany Gan

Nice and clean little amusement park and water park. Would be better if they brought in some new rides! Would be nice if they could figure out a way to have a train run from the amusement part to the water park.

Erin Luce

Perfect park for small children. We liked the wooded scenery, it allowed plenty of shade. The lines weren’t long at all. Very nice!

Brandi Campbell

Great park for kids. Story book forest still holds its child charm. Daniel tigers neighborhood kids love and the train ride too. Several small child rides and medium child rides so all kids have something. Several shows as well. I didnt go to the soak zone.

Adam Powers

Cons: Prices are outrageous. My 7-month pregnant wife had to pay the full $46.99 to get in. The food isn't worth buying either. Pros: You can bring your own food and easily go back and forth from the park to your car. The lines are generally very short. There is plenty of shade to find on hot days. There are trees everywhere.

Aaron Dininny

Full disclosure, we had my cousin (Spencer) giving my 5 kids and my wife the tour of the place; but it was fantastic. Just the slow down, unwind feel was exactly what we needed. Was a little frustrated by the quick response weather delay in soakzone (and then in the rest of the park), but I get it. If you have kids, start at the Storybook Forest. It's not a huge attraction, but a great slow start to a fun relaxing day!

Danielle Kaufman

Love this little family oriented park! Always a great time. Soak Zone is a must weather permitting. The rides are less exciting than bigger parks but great for families. Daniel Tiger Neighborhood, Jumpin Jungle and Storey Book Forrest for the littles in your family are always a hit!

Ann Petteway

I had fun on the wild mouse and on the steel phantom.

Katelin Carter

Awesome experience but it could use some updated safety features. And honestly they should consider revamping story book forest a little like a paint job would do some of those attractions a favor. Soakzone was great!!

Kevin Rodkey

Idlewild is an amusement park that is best for children 10 and under and/or people who love to spend most of their day in the water park. It is not an adventure park. If you're looking for thrills, look elsewhere. The large number of rides for kids is what makes it great for families with young children. There are options for parents and children to go on rides together and for children as young as 18 months to ride independently. For parents of little ones who want to do everything themselves, now they can (to a certain extent). Pros: - You can bring in food and non-alcoholic drinks. There are many paviliions with picnic tables available to guests. - Park is relatively small and easy to get around. Cons: - The park opens late. For a park geared towards kids, I wish it opened sooner. - The park is expensive if you buy tickets at face value but they run a number of promotions that you can take advantage of if you time it right.

John Carson

Still a great place for kids but Story Book Forest and the train are rundown. Seriously needs refurbished Hopefully those in charge will address these issues.

Andrew Hill

My wife and kids love it here. They especially like the soak zone. Season passes are the way to go!

Suzanne Brown

We visited 8-17-2019. The park is way overcrowded and many of the best attractions are closed... ( Mouse Trap, Lazy River , kids splash zone) I asked a worker if they are going to open later and he said they are under staffed because college kids went back to school. Meanwhile it’s 85 degrees and 200 people are standing in the wave pool. I did notice that all of the souvenir shops and overpriced snack shops all have plenty of staff

Shawn Peters

I remember this place when I was a kid. Nice small amusement park. Was not to crowded the day we got visited.

Michele Payne

Was super disappointed. I remember bringing my own kids here 20 + years ago and was always awesome. The bees are out of control, storybook forest is in deplorable condition and needs at a minimum a good Cleaning and some fresh paint. A lot of rides were not running or running with one trolly (Daniel Tiger). Workers seemed disinterested and just going through the motions at an EXTREMELY slow pace. Restaurants, games and Half of the restrooms were closed. Soak zone was amazing and the kids enjoyed it!! The show at the end of the night with the. Characters was the best part - seemed engaged and lots of energy (which is what I had anticipated through the park for the day). It was a different AWESOME experience for the kids - disappointed that was the last thing we did that night. Do not think we will return.

Kristy Werstler

There are a lot of amazing things there for kids. They opened at 10:30 and closed at 6pm the day we went and at almost $50 a ticket I was a little upset we did not have enough time to get to everything. Biggest disappointment was the rental in soak zone. They have cabanas, tents, SoakZone spots, and pavilions to rent... first off you can not see what and where exactly you are renting in advance the website seriously needs to include that... Cabanas are about $60 but decided to rent a pavilion by the little squirt area since that’s were we would spend most of our time..we paid $150 for this bigger space thinking we could relax and stretch out...WRONG..we got there had no chairs (there were supposed to be loungers and regular chairs) it had two picnic tables and it is not blocked off AT ALL everyone just kept coming into our area one lady sat down and started yelling at her kid! It was absolutely not worth $150!!!!!! It was miserable. I would say the cabanas looked like they were worth it but stay away from anything else.... the SoakZone spots that are the cheapest don’t have shade FYI I saw that and was glad we didn’t get them...also they are supposed to come wait on you this is not quick and we paid $7 for sliced strawberries and half were brown and rotten...pack a lunch!! They also take pictures in the park which I thought was nice until I went to get them. I would have happily paid $5 even $10 for a picture you expect to pay more at a park I get it.... but it was $19.99 for one picture!!!!! They just kept pushing a $39.99 package.....that’s too much especially after the price of admission and food and out $150 rental of what everyone at the park thought was a public pavilion!!!!! I love that they have things for little kids but I would rate the whole experience extremely expensive and underwhelming.... we never have time or money for vacation so this was a big deal to us it was sad to end up disappointed

Genevieve Royce

Definitely geared towards very young children, there isn’t much for families to participate in together. Not only that, but the park was very run down, and a decent amount of the few attractions were “under repairs.” Many of the statues in the story book area needed a serious paint job, and the way that the live animals were being taken care was horrendous. Some of the staff did not seem to be so friendly towards guests; I witnessed a staff member in Guest Services very rudely wave off a family. Overall, toddler-aged may enjoy parts of the park, it is not something that adults would be able to enjoy, especially because it’s so rundown that the looks aren’t even admirable. When down in the Pitt area, I would skip Idlewilde.

Pam Lynn

Omg took my 2 yr old grandson but i enjoyed it just as much as he did i will go back

Lissa Ludinich

Great old fashioned rides, small sized soak zone but has 4 different slides a wave pool a toddler splash area a small lazy river but still fun if your willing to wait a bit for a raft. The pirate ship is huge and overs a ton of fun n slides for the not so little but not quite grown kiddos. Food portions are a great value for the money.

James Weaver

An incredibly nostalgic and memorable place! Strolling the paths with my children reminds me of my youth. When in the area, especially with children, you must visit and be reminded of a much simpler time!!!

Dan

Very nice. They only had one trolly running and it was very sorry line at Daniel tiger. Over an hour and a half is very poor.

Kate Keane

I grew up going to this park and wanted my kids to enjoy it. I was disappointed in so many ways. There were many rides closed, including the log ride & mouse coaster. We waited in line for the balloon ride and they shut that down before we got on. The caterpillar and round up aren’t there anymore. The roller coaster was an hour wait, only 6 people can ride it at a time. The water park is very nice and we all enjoyed the activities there, but be aware it closes earlier than the park so get there early. When leaving the water park we wanted to grab dinner, our favorite pizza place just outside the water park and it was closed at 6pm on a Saturday, the park closes at 8. It felt almost like they want you to leave the park early. So sad to see such a wonderful place go down hill.

Lynn Prunty

Alot of walking at the beginning. I suggest parking close, I think at the lower parking lot. Kids had a good time. Some rides hadn't opened yet. Friendly staff. The younger staff did a great job!

Jana Knight

Wonderful park for young children, and families, and grandmas. Good food nice employees. It's a day to remember.

Tonya Gadley

This is a great family place to take the kids the rides are fun the swim park is great and had a place just for the little kids

Marie Liotta

Our kids (5, 5, and 2) love Idlewild. Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood is a family favorite. They have a wide variety of rides for kids. To get the full experience of rides, kids should be over 42" tall, but there's still plenty for the smaller kids to go on as well. Took a star off because some of the age of the park is starting to show. Could use a little bit of re-investment and improvement.

Kelly Hand

I have been coming to Idlewild for 30+ years and I'm saddened to see the park in the shape it's in. Saw things going downhill last year but even more so this time. Limited working sinks and toilets in both men's and women's restrooms throughout the park. Half of the games were closed. Storybook Forest was dismal - flaked paint, holes in displays, less live animals and only TWO characters. Even Jumping Jungle had a number of attractions closed. If it weren't for SoakZone this place would be nothing. It's such a shame to see what used to be a wonderful place to take the younger kiddo seemingly falling apart.

DorkusFish HD

A fun amusement park with multiple themed sections for anyone's tastes, on the downside the park has been closing a fair amount of rides as of recent times, but it's still fun! I would recommend this place for family's with kids between 4-16, due to the fact that there really isn't much for anyone older than 16. There is no thrill rides apart from two roller coasters, and old wooden coaster from the 30's (The Rollo Coaster) and a wild mouse. Food wise, you're allowed to bring in YOUR OWN FOOD AND DRINKS. And even if you don't, the food is great!

Rebecca Defreest

This place was awful. Not only were half the rides closed, most of the food places were too. A child almost drowned in the wave pool. As a nurse I went to offer help because it was clear the young lady ( a lifeguard) was frightened and didn’t have any experience with such an emergency. Other life guards were standing by also unsure of what to do. Your life guards shouldn’t take minutes to put gloves on before starting an assessment and taking action. We will never go back to this place. We will save our money and our time and go to Hershey park. The rides need to be updated as well. The amount it costs for tickets and food should provide enough funds to do so. We traveled from NC to camp at a state park near idlewood, this park was supposed to be one of the highlights of our trip. Very disappointing.

Brenda Koreen

Terrible came for 4pm entrance. 1 gate open. Lady at gate having conversation with the 3 cars in front of me. We started in line at 4:10pm. By time our turn was 4:36pm and hadn't even begun to talk to us yet. Wanted the soak zone. Would only have an 1hour for $70. Not worth it. Turned around. 5 cars behind me. 3 cars also did. Tired of chatty lady

First visit here. Older rides, but very well kept. Water park and story book forest close earlier than park. Staff was fantastic! Bathrooms clean. We will definitely visit again!

Steve Allott

I love this park, it’s predominantly a kids park, but I still love going there, and I don’t have kids! It’s that classic rides that do it for me, really old school flat rides that have so much charm and character, they are simply fascinating. Same can be said for all the other rides there, the park has oodles of history, and it’s wonderful just to walk around and enjoy, very shady and a very relaxed atmosphere. Water park is great for the hot days, but I have never really use it much, lazy river, wave pool and slides, a pretty standard affair. All are well kept and well presented though. This park is often touted as the best kids theme park in the US, I can neither confirm or deny, but it is a wonderful park you should add to your list.

RaventheRogue

Fun spot and my favorite place to go each summer! Love the soak zone, and it's great for children :)

Joshua Elliott

Good park for little ones but cant understand why so many rides, eateries, etc. have been closed our last few visits. This visit all the larger rides for older children were closed, i.e. the roundup, howler, mouse, spider and only half of the eateries and stores were open. Cant understand as its their prime days of operation.

Sammy B

Fantastic park. Fun, but not overly stimulating. We went during a limited operation day, so it wasn't crowded, but we were still able enjoy everything we went for. The staff was excellent, especially Laurel, Lizzie, and Gracie. Thanks for a great time and the jokes!

andrew shaffer

Lots of fun for everyone lots of things to do worth it

Brittany Heyman

Advertised as the greatest amusement park in the world for kids, but there were barely any rides that my kid could go on with a parent. Between her sensory dysregulation and the anxiety of crowds, she only felt safe riding the rides with an adult. Also, the only thing for littler kids to do in the waterpark is the lazy river. I just think this park would be better advertised for a specific age group rather than just "kids."

Phillip Sharrow

Had a great experience now that my son is 40" so we can ride almost all of the rides... also the employees were absolutely wonderful, polite, professional and super considerate and excellent with all of the ages of the clientele

JD Fine

We have had season passes for 3 years in a row so we clearly like it. There's a lot to offer here for a wide age range. Daniel Tiger is always a huge hit (even when they're only running one trolley and it takes nearly an hour wait in line *there's benches!*) Negatives would be food prices, though the food is amazing so it's not horrible. This last trip on August 4th was kinda nerve racking though bc the bees were unbelievable. We were there for only about 20 minutes before one of the kids was stung and then I was on high alert for the next 7 hours... Pretty stressful situation when there's no escape from being surrounded by bees throughout the entirety of the park.

Alan Sechrist

Even as an adult it was a stroll down memory lane.. and my 2yo loved it. I was happy to see her loving something I loved as a kid

Ashley Baer

Not quite how it was as a kid but still just as enjoyable for a nice relaxing day at the park. The water park is what makes it 5 star for us.

Chris McClure

It is an older park lots of shade. Great rides for the kids.Prices aren't bad for a theme park. I wish we live closer so we could do the season pass. The water park looks nice, but we have not taken the extra day to go to it.

Robert C

An absolutely beautiful and wonderful park. This is designed for a family and is especially kid friendly. Ages 2 and up will have a blast guaranteed

Love It

My kids were thoroughly worn out after a 8 hour day here. The prices are a little on the high side for my taste, but aren't all amusement parks these says. Some food was fairly reasonable.

Mike Keister

Kids enjoyed it. But story book forest has definitely seen better days. Many rides were shut down, certain ones stopped running midway through operating hours. Food was alroght, typical high prices.

tamar long

You can't do it all in one day. We had a fun and tiring time. Lots of rides and experiences. The water park was the best of all especially for the children.

Kimberly Graham

I wish I had know about this place sooner! It is a magical place.

Big Popparoni Gaming

I grew up going to this place. It's no top if the line amusement park but it's just super fun and family friendly. Great for younger kids, great food and fun rides. It is sad to see all of the older rides I grew up with shut down but I have confidence that they will sdd on more as the years go by. All in all, IdleWild and SoakZone is fun for the whole family as long as you have 50-100 bucks to spare for a day of great fun. I do recommend.

Jessica Heintzel

The day my son's school went for their field trip, half the park was closed including half of the water park. Water park closed early too. Need an upgrade in the rides. Very dated! Not overly impressed

Nicole Platt

I go here as well as my family and we rent a pavilion by story book forest every summer for my family reunion for the last 35+ yrs. The pavilions are nice and have outlets, water and electricity for cooking food. This parks rides are almost all kid oriented so just about every ride kids can ride with an adult. For very young kids they have jumpin jungle, story book forest and raccoon lagoon which include toddler rides. There also is SoakZone water park which has water slides with and without tubes, a toddler water zone, and kid water area with a climb on ship with water slides, cannons, and water falling everywhere also there is a wave

Eric

Great amusement park for kids. Lots of rides and great food.

Amy Walker

The water park was nice. It was way too crowded the day we went. So it was too pricey for what we were able to do. Thev5 year old liked it.

Cassie Myers

Great place for smaller kids! Probably best for kids under 12 years old. Lots of picnic areas and benches for places to sit throughout the park. Designated smoking areas are nice to keep smoking away from kids. I have visited the park 3 times and this year was the first time there was a terrible amount of bees everywhere! Very disappointed that the wild mouse has been closed for at least 2 years too. Wish they would put another coaster in or fix that one. My kids all had a great time and we loved the Auntie Anne pretzels and frozen lemonades are a must!

Nicole McDermott

We love idlewild. The experience is really what you make it. There's fun rides, games, shows, and a large water park. Its crowded and hot. There's bees near the garbage cans and geese near the water. It's not dirty, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the food is expensive but good. So it's up to you and your family to decide whether you're going to have fun or be miserable.

Jennifer Lukes

My 5 year old and 2.5 year old both had a blast here. They especially loved the Daniel Tiger show and trolley ride. My 5 year old couldn't get enough of the hand cars. It's a great park for the little ones!

Jewels Interests

Absolute best time for the younger kids. Especially when they are so usually scared of the larger rides at other parks. The waterpark is awesome on its own but the whole experience is well worth it.

Ashlee Mchenry

My sisters family has a season pass and she finally got us to go. I'm so glad we did, my kids are in between kiddieland and adulthood and this was the perfect place! They enjoyed everything about it. The lifeguards were also amazing! In the wave pool we witnessed a little boy starting to struggle and I'm pretty sure at least 10 lifeguards all came running to help. Great job guys. Not only did we have fun but you made me feel 100% safe.

Justin Marks

We took our two year old, and he had a blast. An overview of the day below. The good: - The rides and play areas were great - SoakZone was awesome - The stage shows like Daniel Tiger, also awesome - Most of the food was okay The bad: - More than half of the actors/actresses in storybook forest were nowhere to be found - Same with the animals - The statues and buildings seem in disarray, holes in walls, lots of missing paint, are they not using maintenance folks for upkeep? - Tons of bees, particularly in SoakZone, be careful if you are allergic - A handful of rides closed - They are only running one trolley for rides, and it broke down with passengers on it - A few booths where they sell food/drinks ran out of soda, with no signage indicating that, so we'd wait 20 minutes in line just to get turned away The summary: We might be back, but there is no way I'm paying full price for tickets. They need to hire some maintenance folks and get the park into running order again.

Bruce Nguyen

It's ok for adults willing to endure the torture of kids wanting everything the park has to offer! But it's ok to get your exercise in from all the walking! Wasn't the same as I remember as a kid, 3 rides were closed down, and as a kid I loved the night time when all the lights and sounds were awesome, now they close before any of the lights come on!

Felicia Day

Great place for family fun, the kids really enjoyed it! The power went out so I didnt get the pics we took with the park photographer but other than that it was enjoyable!

Zac M.

Was a great place in my childhood. Now it seems that all they care about soak zone. The rest of the park has fallen by the wayside.

Lucas Kowalski

Love it. Been going here since I was a little kid. Now my kids are enjoying it with me. Extremely fulfilling

Amber Hart

My family had been going her for a couple generations now. We love this park. It's big enough to keep you busy but small enough to still feel like it's out away from the city. They have parking amount the trees. You can come out to your car if you brought a picnic lunch. Oh we still spend money on food in the park for sure. Love the funnel cakes, always have to have a burger. There are things that were there when I was a child that I really miss, like the old Mister Rogers trolly ride. Times change and I understand that. It always brings back good memories. Wish we could get there more often but my husband and I live near Philly and they are no longer a day trip. We get back when we can. Thank you for being such a family friendly enjoyable park!

Andrew Catizone

This is NOT a good park for single parents. I spent over $100 for me and my two daughters to go. The first ride my kids see is the ferris wheel. We get in line. When it's our turn to get into the seat, the lady there measures my youngest daughter and oldest daughter, they are 8 and 5. I was told that my 5 yr old was between the 36"-48" height, and that I have to ride with her. That's understandable. Then she tells me that my 8yr old is over 48", and that the 3 of us can't ride together. There are many rides that have this odd requirement. Talk about a huge disappointment. Nothing like spending a lot of money to not even be able to go on many rides. I would not recommend this park to anyone.

Diamond Dave

Great family oriented park with rides for everyone. We have been coming here for years and love storybook forest and soakzone as well. Much to see and do. As with all amusement parks, food and beverage are expensive so plan to bring your own or to leave with an empty wallet.

Lissa Hannan

We were here yesterday and today right now. You can't sit down and relax on any benches due to horrible uncontrolled bee issues. I have called 3 times and they say they will take care of the one area. I told them IT'S THE ENTIRE PARK! Kids are running and screaming. Last year was not like this. Kennywood doesn't have this problem.

amanda lee

A lot of the workers were very unhappy people, and a lot of the rides were not open!!! (As usual anymore) But the couple of happy workers we met were the best!!! The gate attendent was amazing!!! I thought 3 and under was free, turns out it's 2 and under, (lol) so the lady gave me a ticket that someone left with her!!! Thank u so much!!! I was only going to give 3 starts but bc of a few great workers that went above and beyond I gave it 4!!!

Jo Kuykendall

I liked it. It's geared more towards smaller children under 10. Most of the rides I wanted were closed

BJ

The gates definitely don't open at 10:30. It's 10:40 and still no attendant's in sight

Sammy B

Fantastic park. Fun, but not overly stimulating. We went during a limited operation day, so it wasn't crowded, but we were still able enjoy everything we went for. The staff was excellent, especially Laurel, Lizzie, and Gracie. Thanks for a great time and the jokes!

Liz Toigo

Nice family park. My kids, ages 6 and 4 had a blast.

Jeanne Arthur

Nice place to take the family. Bring the bug spray, sunscreen, watch your own children.. Expect the story book forest to be decayed some do to weather..some stuff may closed... But do spend on the food there, it's delicious and fresh. The park closes at 7 or 8 depending on weather. Expect rides to close at least 15 minutes before ( no announcement of so while you wait in line)and buildings like food and face painting to close an hour before it's full closure..

John McCutchen

The one thing that could be improved is the wave pool is only on for 5 minutes and then off for 15 minutes which is too long. All else was great.

Jeremy Balis

My family and I had a wonderful time at Idlewild in Pennsylvania! They are about the best amusement park for kids. There's so many things to do and see, it would take a week to explore it all. I highly recommend making it your next family vacation or trip. There's water rides, spinning rides, story book place, and much more, too much to type about here. Check them out on line.

Janelle _

We love Idlewild. This is the first year I've been there probably since I was a kid. We have a 2 year old we took for the first time, she absolutely loves it so much we ended up getting season tickets. (Which I recommend if you're planning to go more than once. They pay for themselves after 2 visits) we've never had a problem any time we've been there. The water area is great. The trolley is fun for any kid who loves Daniel Tiger.

Anne Paulson

This is definitely a fun place for kids of all ages. The food was delicious and there is so much to do and see that it's kind of impossible to see it all in one visit. I just wish their hours opened earlier and closed later lol

angel walker

It's an awesome little park! They had a lot of things closed but we still had so much fun...I had never been there and it was confusing to navigate through with out a map (my son lost it) but that's the only thing!

Diane Hellmann

Would of been a great day if everything wasnt shutting down at 6:30. Park hours are til 8. And things we wanted to do in the end were already closed by 6:30. Why even set a closing time if you close whenever you want. And it wasnt a rainy day. Perfect weather sun still out at 6:30. Wont make another trip out here.

Mandi Stokes

Was great. Staff was all friendly. Busy day. The only thing is it closed early on a week day and we didnt get to do everything. But it was a beautiful day.

Keith Carlson

Our young daughter had a fantastic time. We went on a Thursday. It wasn't crowded at all, you could walk up to any ride and get right on. Even with that we still didn't get to the entire park; this place is big! If you have never been it's definitely worth checking out.

Stephen Graf

Great for younger kids. Usually the lines are pretty short. Staff is friendly.

Nicole Thornton

Wonderful fun atmosphere for all ages. Be sure to get discount tickets at Golden Eagle first, it will save you money. You can also bring your own food and drinks.

Taylor Troyer

I really wish I could give this place 5 stars... but unfortunately I can't. I would actually give it overall a 2.5 if that was an option. The variety of rides was great for my 6-year-old, but the actual functionality of the park has some serious flaws. For starters, the park opens at 10:30, but many of the zones don't open until "11:30", many of them opening a few minutes late with the rides still not ready to go once it was open. Overall there was a lack of the appropriate amount of staff, meaning many of the little games and side shops were closed both of the days we attended. The zones also closed far before the actual park did, many of which between 5:30 and 6 p.m., when the staff got very pushy and rude in order to get people out as fast as possible. I feel 11:30-5:30 is a very short time to have something open, and makes the days really short and you are constantly hurrying to get to the next zone so you don't miss out. They also don't update the board at the entrance to the park with zone closing times so good luck guessing or you'll find out the hard way! I'm glad we stayed for two days or we never would have been able see everything in the short length of time from the park opening to things shutting down. The food and beverage available are the typical rip-off, overpriced options you would expect at any amusement park but with even smaller portions. We got an $8.00 "personal pizza" that was the size of my daughter's hand. I would highly recommend packing yourself a huge stash of food and trekking back and forth to your car for food instead. Meeting the princess's was great, but they had the same two both days and my daughter was highly disappointed she didn't get to see Snow White and Rapunzel too. The park employees were very nice, but generally unknowledgable about any part of the park other than the zone they were in, which was very frustrating when we were trying to find a specific attraction.

Bobbi H

Only one trolley going, longggg wait. Nothing for the children to do while they waited. And no seating or shade by the lazy river for disabled unless you rent one of their veryyy expensive tents!

Brandon Bricker

The park was loads of fun but they shouldn't advertise that they're open to 8 and then shut half the park down at 7. We missed so much because it was all already closed

Art Gola

This is a great park for toddlers. They have a lot of rides for little kids which you will not find elsewhere. A lot of the rides are for kids 36" and taller. Some are for 38" and there are others for 42"+. Adults can't go on a lot of the kid rides, however if you have a larger child, they can accompany a smaller child on rides the smaller child cannot go alone provided they are within the height restrictions. Our three year old loved the bumper cars, even though she spent a good amount of time just spinning in a circle (like a lot of other kids). The Daniel Tiger trolly ride through the neighborhood was also a hit with her. I'd also recommend going at the tail end of the season when the soak zone is closed. We went on a Sunday in mid September and there were not a lot of people there. Our child could do rides over and over without really having to wait in line, which was a hit!

Laura Walkup

Idlewild Park is my favorite childhood place, and I was delighted to share it with my children after not having visited for a decade. It lives up to childhood nostalgia.

sunflowerkisses

My experience at this amusement park was absolutely terrible. The workers were very rude and when i got a funnel cake it wasn’t even cooked all the way. On a ride they had me and my boyfriend weighed which I think is absolutely outrageous. I can understand safety reasons but do you see Hersey park, Kennywood, or any other amusement park weigh people? I was surprised when the light was red and the worker said “oh jeez.” Which I’m sore but is very rude. I’m not usually this critical and acting like a Karen but I don’t recommend this amusement park at all. I can usually take people being rude but when it’s all the workers we interacted with, I can get a little a little mad.

Joshua Horner

Lots of fun for the little ones some stuff was shut down tho

Dustin K

Great place for kids but it's basically an overpriced carnival in kiddie land. Make sure to search for coupons or else you'll leave wondering if you really got your money's worth.

Alexis Palm

Always a great time! So family friendly and no ridiculous crowds. Wish they'd have a count down for when the waves will crash in the wave pool! Lol.

Joe McClellan

I liked my time here but found it a little expensive even at the discounted rate. It IS a good place for small kids but they need to wash and repair their storybook forest and the rides. Everything could use a washing off. The water park was probably my favorite area and my three year old loved Daniel Tiger. I would say definitely visit with kids if you can get a good deal on tickets.

Mr. Misty Eye

So fun! The lines aren't at all long and there was a bunch of cute little shows by the characters of Story Book forest throughout the day! The water park is super fun too! Not a bad idea to bring a picnic lunch since the food at the stalls is pretty expensive.

Alexandra Colussy

Great place for kids. Friendly staff. Only missing a star on the rating for a little up keep needed around the park that could easily be done. But still a place I'd take my son back to. He had fun!

Frankie Sims

I have two boys, ages 8 and 5. We have been visiting yearly for about six years. This park is definitely better for very young kids. My 8 year old is almost maxed out on the little kid area rides. The Wild Mouse has only been open one time we went. The storybook forest is great, in theory. The building smell so badly of mold and mildew, I can’t go in them. And the displays are so dirty. I get that it’s in the middle of the woods, but you could still wipe them down and clean out some spiderwebs. The main thing that kept us going back was the soak zone. My kids love it. There has never been any hot water for showers, though. I don’t think there is running hot water anywhere there. And also there is no cellphone service. They advertise this place as voted the world’s best amusement park for kids. I don’t see how that is possible. I feel bad for people that travel a far distance thinking this place is going to be the world’s best. They would be vastly disappointed. Kennywood is by far better, have the new Thomas the train town and a big area for kid rides. And SO much cleaner and well-maintained.

Zachary Taylor

Some things are a bit worn down and it's sad to see, otherwise a great place for kids more so than adults. The water park is great. The rollo coaster is basically pointless now and honestly they need to build something to replace it. The mouse is always broken and never open and that's one of the main rides teens and adults can enjoy. Food and drink prices could be cheaper, and I feel for what's there in the conditions everything is in the entry fee is a bit high.

Richard Christian

Good place for kids, family fun. All the carnival rides I enjoyed 50+ years ago.

Rachel Myers

The best park for kids! My kids love this place! We went two summers in a row and would still go again! We love Idlewild and SoakZone! Of course, Daniel Tiger's neighborhood trolley is a huge highlight! And one ticket price for all the amusement park areas and the waterpark is a great deal! You can get all kinds of discounts for tickets and very easy to pack your lunch. So it's really a great family value!

james REAGLE

Enjoyed our day. The granddaughters had a great day. Couldn't get them away from soak zone. Loved the cabanas.

Andrew Harris

First off the website States it opens at 10:30. We traveled over 3 hours to get there. Rides don't open till 11:30 but no mention of this on website. There is a serious Bee infestation and made things very unpleasant. Even the employees said they felt the same way. The rest rooms were disgusting! Lastly it's a Saturday and we're not properly staffed as some rides where closed due to lack of staff. There was on one trolly running and waited over an 1.15 to ride it. The main roller coaster was broken! The rides are old and poorly maintained. Only reason I have it a 2 star was my daughter liked the Tiger show. Won't be back here unless they decided to fix this place up. Don't waste your money like we did.

Poisoned Cupcake

Go with low expectations and you will enjoy more. It's good for a little one to see Daniel Tiger and ride Trolley. Most of the other rides look 70 years old. We avoided the net and ball pit area do to previous reviews. Storyland was actually amazing, invested actors and so many nursery rymes...i wish we had saved more time for it, as we did it last. The food in the main food court was pretty good BBQ and Belgium waffles. I will take toddler back to see Daniel tiger next year. Everyone was nice and just friendly enough.

Matt Baer

This park keeps raising prices, food is insanely priced (don't get me wrong, it's good), but why can't they invest into attractions, making the park cleaner and more inviting, etc? Canvas ride toppers with mold and spores on them from 1994, half the rides not operating on a Sunday in June, half the games not open. We go several times a year because the kids are the perfect Idlewild age, but it makes me want to look elsewhere with the rust, lack of paint to spruce up rides, swamps, etc all around.

Thom Smith

Highland games had select rides open this year! A lot of fun!

Only in dreams

I enjoyed everything and so did my nephew but was really disappointed the wild mouse, the howler and logging tobaggon, AND dizzy lagoon were all closed. It was his 1st time there and wanted to enjoy them with him as I did when I was younger. Had fun, but disappointed about those being closed.

Michael Bauman

Overall not too bad they charge 45 dollars to get in per person but not many improvements in rides. There are fewer rides than there was 30 years ago you would think they would reinvest in the park to keep people coming. The pool area is nice but not all of it is open all the time. Hoot n holler was fun but doesn't exist like it used to. It is a very nice place to spend the day but needs more than what they have to keep people coming back.

Joe Brewer

Was cool. Not as cool as when I was a kid.

Julie Whorl

Best park for kids. This is a regular trip where Grammy and pappy can go with the kids and grandkids and everyone had a great time

Bill Marsh

The park only has a few rides that don't go in circles and half the time most of them are down or not running. Same in the water park. Not enough rafts in lazy river as well as the water slides. They need to invest in the park. Tickets are expensive and almost not worth the trip.

joel curtis

The kids love the soak zone, but Story Book Forest is starting to look pretty rough. Stuff is falling apart. Time to either invest in some rehab, or shut it down.

Michaeline Quintana

This is my favorite park in the world. My parents went as kids...I went as a kid... and now my kid goes too! You really should go... loads and loads of fun!

CJ Quinn

Great place for kids! Older, nostalgic amusement park. My parents use to go there when they were kids.

Jamie Ashe

This is the best theme park in western pa for kids 32 inches and above. Been coming here for 3 years and it's the best...

Robin Rihn

I have season passes because we live close. I feel they need to step up their game. Clean more, add some new attractions. Half the rudes are usually closed during the week.

Nicole Weaver

A great place to go with your family. To get your money's worth, plan to be there all day. Do splash zone and the park. My son, 5, enjoyed the kid's area quite a bit timhisbyear, but this is the first year he's really been into it. We also love the jungle area with the net climb and the. All pit. It has something for everyone.

Jesper Lauge Larsen

We had a nice experience at Idlewild today! We didn't have any problems, and the rides were good. The staff on the other hand didn't seem like they wanted to be there.

Janelle _

We love Idlewild. This is the first year I've been there probably since I was a kid. We have a 2 year old we took for the first time, she absolutely loves it so much we ended up getting season tickets. (Which I recommend if you're planning to go more than once. Lindsey rook

I brought my 3 year old daughter and 6 year old son to the park today and the Bees were horrendous everywhere we went they were landing all over us and it really upset my kids. But overall they had a good day but it would have been a lot better without the bees.
