Here you will be able to see all the reviews of people who buy the products and services of Friendship Hill National Historic Site (Park) near to the state of Pennsylvania.
At the present the business has a rating of 4.7 stars out of 5 and this rating has been calculated on 235 reviews.
You must have seen that it has an average rating is virtually the highest, and it's based on a high number of feddbacks, so we can be pretty sure that the assessment is quite credible. If there are many people who bothered to value when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to set feddbacks when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Park belongs to the category of National park.
Finally got to see inside the house. Definitely a good place to take the family to. Love visiting historical sites
I love the setting. It's always so beautiful & one of the best places to just get out and enjoy the world.
My family's favorite place to visit. We love to bring the dogs to walk all the trails during spring and summer.
Great place to walk, or just visit and see the history
Excellent place to walk trails and also see some historic landmarks.
Cool
The National Park Service does an excellent job maintaining the historic home of Albert Gallatin and the grounds on which the mansion lies. There are miles of trails open to the public everyday.
I've lived in Morgantown for close to ten years and somehow did not know about this gem of a park. I'm so glad to have finally found it. The former home of the secretary of the treasury under Madison and Jefferson, Albert Gallatin, is the center of this park. There is no entry fee and the house is open from 9 to 5 with the park open from sunrise to sunset. During the winter it is only open on Saturday and Sunday. The house is well-maintained and provides a glimpse of life in the 1700s. The staff is knowledgeable and very enthusiastic about the history there. The house has an elevator, making it accessible for people with disabilities. There is a nice overlook area the has a great view of the Monongahela River. Additionally, there are miles of hiking trails, from vigorous hikes to more leisurely strolls. If you like early American history or hiking in a scenic area next to a beautiful river, then I highly recommend this park.
Great place to go for a quiet walk , take kids to ride bikes or power wheels
Very peaceful with a ton of walking trails
Very nice. I live close so I go there every week or so. Great trails and amazing historic buildings
Great place for a family stroll.
Nice place to visit, walk the path see the scenery. Restrooms and drinks.
There's just something about this place. You an feel the history and the views are breathtaking! I love going there.
Great historic place! Be sure to venture down the hill to see Sophia's grave
Absolutely beautiful grounds, beautiful historical house! Definitely going back
Always love it here. Perfect spot for a picnic. Little bit cold though we’ll come back when it’s warmer
Beautiful historic national park. Also has picnic area and great trails.
Such an aptly named site! I had planned a trip to visit all the NPS units in Western Pennsylvania when I found out at Flight 93 NM that Friendship Hill NHS was closed that day and wouldn't open for the season until the next day. When I explained that I would be on a plane back to Alabama tomorrow, the lady from Eastern National who was working the gift shopped called over to Fort Necessity to make sure they still had the passport stamp for Friendship Hill there. Once I got to Fort Necessity, I was not only given then stamp, but because I had pre-done the Junior Ranger program, was given the badge and patch. The lady there even took my name to send me the Senior Ranger patch and new stamp once she got it. But the kindness doesn't stop there! I wanted to visit the grounds of Friendship Hill because I can't say I visited it if I didn't actually set foot on the place and because I heard the grounds were beautiful. As I'm there walking around, Jim the Ranger stops me and I tell him my dilemma about not being able to see the house because it's closed and I won't be able to return the next day. He proceeds to give me a mini private tour! From start to finish, the staff at these three sites were exceptional and embody the best of the NPS; people helping people and facilitating genuine experiences at places that are important to preserve. And then a few days ago, I got a package from Friendship Hill with the promised stamps and patches! Kindness and keeping your word are definitely part of America's best idea.
Absolutely beautiful place. It would be a great place for a picnic. Lots of open space to run and play, great walking and hiking trails.
Nice and interesting house. Not a "must-see" as far as national historical places go but interesting nonetheless.
Nice nature walks!
Friendship Hill is our favorite walking trail system near Morgantown. It is easily accessible and provides ten miles of trails in a beautiful, natural park setting.
Nice
Excellent place for walking and history of fayette county
This park is beautiful. The park is very well kept. An awesome place for a picnic or to do a little hiking. The only complaint we have is there are no waste baskets anywhere..we brought our puppy and could not find one to dispose of her waste. The only trash can was in the bathroom. Even the picnic area didn't have a trash can. We'll definitely be going to the park again, it was a great experience. But be prepared if you'll have trash or a pet with you.
It was a lovely place to visit.
Great learning experience
Very beautiful and quiet.
Love it
Very peaceful ❤️
Large grounds area for walking and hiking, restored home from 1980s, friendly staff. Nice day trip to explore the towns along the Monongahela River.
Great place for a quiet walk in the wilderness.
Very beautiful!
Fun and beautiful place to visit. He staff were friendly enough to let us explore longer than when they were expected to close. Nice clean facility.
Beautiful Scenic Historical Area
It's a lovely place to visit, there are trails to walk and things to see like the Festifall festival
Great hidden gem! Beautiful meadows and trails and also a historic home that you can tour.
Very nice park, if you like the woods and wildlife! Dog friendly.
A wonderful and beautiful.place to enjoy history. It was Albert Gallatin's home. You can tour the house and visualize how he lived.
The park was the perfect setting for the wedding! Photos were stunning and the views were breathtaking. The park staff were helpful and kind. Thank you for making this beautiful estate available for these events!
Nice place to take the kids.
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit
Albert Gallatin played an important role in US history. There is value in visiting Friendship Hill to gain some insight on his role, and visit the impressive house which is cited on a hill overlooking the Monongahela River. The disappointing part to the visit is the very limited amount of objects and interpretation of the house and Gallatin. It's an impressive house, but the rooms are mainly empty with a few pieces of furniture and interpretive panels scattered about.
My family's favorite place to visit!
A great historic site. A must see!
Festifall is always a good time
This is my favorite National Park in the area. The house is beautiful and the grounds are spectacular. The house closes during the winter but the grounds are open. So plan accordingly
Love it here
Excellent trails. The longest loop is approximately five miles. This loop includes views of the Monongahela River, the railroad, lovely mountainside views. This particular trail ends with stairs (picture of a small portion of the stairs included but does not indicate the steepness) which climb up from the river to the top of the trail. It is quite challenging! There are shorter trails which include a pond. If you are quiet you will often see deer, squirrel, chipmunks. Large turtles bask on logs in the pond. In the evening, I have seen 50+ deer in the meadow. The house itself is lovely. A visitor's room with historical goodies for purchase. Post cards too! Always guides available if you have questions. There are several floors: The basement is open and includes restrooms. The first floor includes the guide station, two open living rooms with lovely views and period pieces, a kitchen with walls cut so you may see the original, the dining area, two bedrooms with views of the long porch and a room to sit and view stories and info on a large television. The second floor includes four bedrooms, all period pieces. Lovely views. Including a second story balcony porch. The third story and attic are rarely open to the public. They have done a private, limited tour of them but I was unable to make it. The reason it is closed is for safety purposes of weight limits on the old floors until they are refinished. HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY:. There is a lot of walking as you park at the bottom and walk up. However, there is handicapped parking. You may drive up directly to the house. The house itself has a ramp and the floors are accessible by elevator, including restrooms. One portion of the second floor is by stairs only...just two rooms. Some of the trails at the bottom would be accessible for some adventurous wheelchair owners! The grounds are open daily from dawn to dusk for walking, hiking. The house is slightly more limited. Hours are posted online. Festifall event is annual and a must! People in period dress with lots of displays and fun for the kids such as candle making, corn husks dolls, lessons on quilting, traditional sewing, blacksmithing, rug making and so much more. Free but accepting donations. Park in the field, walk up. Guides do offer rides on golf carts up to the house this day.
We stumbled on this place while vacationing in southwest corner of Pennsylvania. What a little hidden gem of a National Historic site. It is closed during the winter months though. I recommend visiting this in conjunction with Fort Necessity too.
One of my favorite places! Great spot for walking, jogging, hiking, yoga...even cross country skiing in the winter! My family makes FestiFall an annual event. The food, the crafts, historical displays, touring the mansion and grounds - and wonderful settings for family photos! Also home to a great effort to revive our Monarch butterfly population.
Very historic.
Beautiful
Around the corner from my house with great amount of information regarding Albert Gallatin and the park in it's current state. Much more than just the house and a very scenic location
Less vendors then last year but there were different one's. Must try the bean soup out of a caldron along with the homemade cornbread with homemade apple butter. Nice views to look at with a lot of picture opportunities.
A national park
An AMAZING park! Perfect for a day out nature hiking with the family and the rangers are so nice
Learned something about Gallatin and the history of the region. The house needs furnished. There's almost nothing in it
Beautiful historic site with lots of open space. .
A great place to walk and see nature!
Lovely America.
Magical.
This historical site has lot to offer. One can enjoy the beautiful scenery, nature, 18th century house, hiking, picnic and so much more. When you are in the house, you feel the spirit of 18th century and what it was like back then. Staff working there are very friendly and they tell you brief history of the place and you can ask them questions related to Mr.Gallatin or his house. I will definitely coming back here again since it’s not far away from my home
The staff is friendly and helpful.
great place to relax and take kids, walk the dog or just enjoy the day.
Beautiful grounds and house. National Park staff, very friendly and knowledgeable. Public restrooms are spotlessly clean. Great historic treasure and worth the stop.
Beautiful history on our area!!
Dope place.
Lived in the area most of my life and never knew it was there. Take the family and go see this place.
This place is great to take a nature walk.
Lots of walking. Beautiful grounds and view from the gazebo. Not all of the house is accessible to visitors which is disappointing. I would have loved to go on the balcony and only a handful of rooms were open to walk through. Still a beautiful place with lots of history and worth the visit if you don't mind the walking.
Knowedgable rangers and an interesting collection of Gallatin related artifacts. An interesting historical site less than 1.5 hours from Pittsburgh.
Beautiful.
Always love coming here. Very beautiful in the fall
Excellent
It's a beautiful place to visit.
Such a wonderful beautiful place, I've been there lot's of times and it never gets old, Picnic would be nice, but people would probably destroy the grounds, IF YOU go PLEASE respect what it is.!!! ❤
Beautiful and scenic historic site! Great for jogging and bike riding.
Awesome Place!!
A wonderful site to enjoy the scenery, and the history
This is a really nice national park that is free to get in. You can bring your kids here, or go by yourself and it is nice. They have miles of trails to walk and they have restored the Albert Gallatin house so there is plenty to see.
Great place to visit. Great trails and beautiful home to tour.
Festifall was great. We had a good time. The people are very friendly.
Nice place to visit if you're looking for a quiet time. It's never crowded here. The grounds are very well maintained and there are miles of empty hiking trails and woods for you to explore. The wildlife have never been hunted and don't run to far away when you approach. Some of the deer will practically eat out of your hand, but keep in mind that they are wild animals and can hurt you if startled. The staff here are friendly and always happy to talk. Picnic area is available with grills, and the modern bathrooms are clean. Great place to visit. Please try it next time you're nearby.
Just The Best.. Our History

Beautiful site and a friendly staff. Highly recommend visiting the house and the grounds.
Wish it was open
Great history behind the property. Otherwise it's just another house.
Great place!!!!
Pretty neat to see the history here and lots of great outdoor space. Great hiking trails and awesome views
Peaceful trail system and grounds, with picturesque views overlooking the Monongahela River.
Lovely Park.
Always a nice place to visit and enjoy.
My family loves this place, we like taking our dogs and walking the trails, listening to nature and having picnics under the pavilion!!! Im thankful there are historical places such as Friendship Hill and Albert Gallatin house! Sadly, many of our historical places and the teaching of history, is being wiped away now days!! Visit Friendship Hill and enjoy the scenery <3
Nice area to hike with historical landmarks with detailed signs along the hike! Not a ton of trails but there is a really nice walk along the river to enjoy
Very nice house and trail to Sofia’s grave.
Love bringing the kids here on nice days to just walk around and enjoy the outdoors.
Beautiful
Beautiful for pictures.
Peaceful, beautiful wooded setting
The festifall celebration there is really awesome. Learn a lot.
Beautiful place. Perfect for hiking or just a nice walk enjoying the scenery. Check out the mansion while your there!
Trails are nice good history.
Not much to see, but what was there was nice.
Great visit to the home of a little know American patriot. Secretary of the Treasury who balanced the US budget and found the money to fund the Louisiana Purchase and the National Road.
Really cool historic site. Anyone from Montana will recognize where the Gallatin river gets its name
Loved visiting this house, very beautiful and the staff where super friendly answering all the questions we had.
Historically Know
The grounds are beautiful but the house needs help.
Awesome house to see the land is beautiful!
Wonderful Park! Fantastic Rangers and Volenteers! GREAT JOB GUYS!
We didn't get to explore the inside of the house because our little one was fussy but the grounds are great and the gentleman in the visitors center was nice and well informed. Hope to go back some day to see the inside.
Great place to walk in any season.
Great place for a good walk
Wonderful secluded place.
Nice walking trails of moderate exertion level. Good view from the gazebo.
