Can't help but love the beauty of Nature

Arlie Cooper

Not quite like camping in the middle of the wilderness, but if you don't mind a few neighbors this is a great place to camp. The staff is extremely friendly and the facilities are clean. With hiking trails, hot springs, views, and swimming holes all nearby, I would highly recommend staying here.

Julie Sandum

So many amazing places in this Forest! Tons of waterfalls of all sizes. Magnificent hikes and hot springs. Camping for everyone. This forest has family camp grounds as well as dispersed camping. Too many swimming holes to even mention. I have been here 10+ times in the last few years and still have not seen nearly half. I am still amazed at the beauty I find in every adventure here. If you haven’t been here what are you waiting for? I promise you wont be disappointed. I will continue to post photos of my adventures here in hopes they will inspire you to get here and discover all that awaits!

Jonah Flick

Nice trail and view. Mountain bikers use the trail to mt bailey though, and I wish they wouldn't

Marshal Moser

Great place for a hike and get close to nature.

Beautiful but the North Umpqua Trail isn't being kept up. There are downed trees everywhere from the snow storm and lying right across the path. Also places where landslides have washed away the trail. If you're looking for a really rugged hike I guess you might like it

Neil Cadwallader

Good times here.

Kristina Clark

Still in great condition. Not a lot of people know of it yet so theres no trash or graffiti up there. Been going for several years and I'm still in awe of how beautiful it is.

Mike Dunphy

Beautiful national forest. Great place to visit.

Jeff Buck

Yep this is one area Oregon got it mastered.

Charles Womble

A beautiful forest enjoy it whenever you can. Lots of wildlife and beautiful lakes to see. Beware of mosquitoes - they are plentiful so being spray repellent and use it, it doesn't stop them completely but does help keep you from being eaten alive. Plenty of decent fishing spots here also like diamond lake (boat has much better access to the fish). Also be aware that cell phone service is very limited here. All in all a wonderful place for day trips or camping.

Elizabeth Angus

Very thankful we stumbled upon this forest and campground while visiting Crater Lake. The campsites are nestled in tons of trees and you feel fully immersed in nature. The lake was great to go out on in our kayak. We didn't catch any fish nor did we swim in the water, but plenty of families were doing so. Glad this place was so RV friendly as many of these places aren't.

James Porter

This place is a slice of paradise. Absolutely gorgeous with huge grand fir trees and Douglass fir trees that are nearly 300 feet high and 8 feet in diameter. We hunted and found so many scenic water falls. It was truly amazing and energizing.

Michael Rossotto

Great place to explore and work on your outdoor skills and of course lots of photo opportunities. Get there early enough you could see a Owl or two.

Michael Gillespie

One of the many wonders of Oregon. Take time to stop to see the many waterfalls. Done or Lodge at Diamond Lake Inn.

Stephen Kong

Beautiful forest with well-kept roads, very nice campgrounds, and friendly staff. Diamond Lake Campground had warm water, showers, boat ramp, and even a fish cleaning station. The sunset from campsite A18 was absolutely beautiful. Bring your bug repellent!

Staying at Diamond Lake for Christmas. What a wonderful break, close to home! Our cabin is so cozy, has everything we need. It's beautiful up here, and the snow only adds to the Christmas feeling. I highly recommend staying here anytime of year, but so thankful we were able to experience it like this =)

Joel Leon

Hwy 138- N. Umpqua hwy is one of the more scenic drives in Oregon. I suggest going upriver Roseburg to Diamond Lake and on to Crater Lake's north entrance. Lots of waterfalls, hikes, and scenery to enjoy.

Farwick West

I was very disappointed to see they put planters trout in not so easy to get to lakes. I've fished these lakes for 30 years. I see they put planter rainbows, in a lake the has had cutbows in it for 30 years. Sad day today!

Geared Up Adventures

Great campground, no water, but you can get some at the ranger station. Waterfalls were beautiful! The hot springs gets crowded, but well worth it.

Debbie Combs

This is a great place to visit...summer or winter. Right now the lake is is beautiful and full of trout. The mosquitoes are out and bug spray is necessary. Broken Arrow Campground has showers and a dump station and most of the sites have elbow room. There are both reservable and first come sites and reservable group sites. Diamond Lake campground is lakeside, has showers and dump station, first come and reservable sites, Theilsen View Campground is lake side and has reservable and first come sites, no showers, no dump station. Nice views of Mt Theilsen and Mt Bailey are available.

JD V

Beautiful places, nice clean trails, bathrooms are only maintained if the roads are clear for vehicles to reach them.

Hailey Zurn

Great place to go and it is very calm and peaceful. I loved all the scenery and the hikes were great.

Kim Marshall

Love the outdoors. Especially the Umpqua Valley.

Clay Bruchard

The Tiller Trail made me feel as if I was following the footsteps of the people that helped Pioneer the communities of Cave Junction & Shady Cove... They should of named the area as a whole... Cove Cave... Just because I didn't see any Coves in the Sunshine. Nor did I see any Caves when I arrived at the Junction .. I did quite a few petty coats at the Junction... All and all it's a beautiful 2~3hr drive "from Shady Cove up and over the mountain to Canyonville or Cave Junction" on the Tiller trail Hwy... Leave from Shady cove early morning 8~9am and you'll end up with seeing a lot a wonderful waterfalls, and about the time your Wheaties ware off you'll find yourself in front of 7 Feathers Casino. If your not a member join the club and take your shot by spinning the wheel an see how much money you'll get to loose in the Casino.... it's actually a pretty nice casino, and the employees are friendly and eger to help in anyway they can...

donna Sherbahn

Me and family love going up there. We have fun all year long.

Sarah Meerten

Perfect hiking trails all over!

Christina and the dogs

Hot springs were nice, a bit silty from the evergreen shedding and mountain runoff, but there water smelled clean and felt great. Be careful if you are going to the bottom 2 pools, it can be very slippery, and there is nowhere to grab if you start to fall. It's a long drop down.

Nona Pic

Absolutely beautiful!! Well worth the drive,,would go again,,a must see!!

Jerry Dinger

Beautiful!

Geoff Hegdahl

Always an adventure! Although the waterfalls are chilly there is a time of year where they are powerful and warm enough to enjoy....not in April though.lol

It's the National Forest. We find the trails generally well kept and the access points cleared as much as possible. Give a hoot, don't polite. Do your part too.

Ben Parsons

Went to Fairview Lookout. Was beautiful. You can see the three sisters, diamond peak and many others. Elevation is around six thousand feet. Your above all the other mountains, so it seems like you can see to eternity, as far your your eyes will see. Hiked up to the top of Bohemia Mountain. 3/4 mile hike, but was worth it. Trails after good. The waters in the Creeks are crystal clear. Lots of history from the old mining days.

What is the best place you'd recommend if you'd like a fairly secluded spot ?

Reed Koyano

This National Forest has lots of trophy trout lakes and salmon and steelhead streams in it as well as great hunting. Hiking into the back country for the young and lots of fantastic scenery.

amy mentes

Theres the Columbia Gorge, the Rogue River, Crater Lake, and the Oregon coast, but the Umpqua National Forest is lesser-known and just as beautiful, if not moreso! So many waterfalls, the Umpqua Trail, and world-class fly fishing make this a destination for rejuvenation. I'm blessed to live by it. Every time we go, there's something new and amazing to see and do. Just this last time, we discovered that Oregon's only scorpion is in this forest. But they're reclusive and rarely seen. The water is pristine, the rock formations are gorgeous ... I could go on and on. Can't forget the Idleyld Store (homemade sandwiches, food, souvenirs, supplies) and the Steamboat Inn!

Terry pershall
