As a member of the OYCC and a supporter of the United States Forest Service I can say that this is one of the most beautiful forests I have ever seen. There are plenty of campgrounds here that offer everything from ATV and bike trails to some of the most beautiful hiking trails I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. I would recommend that you explore Olive Lake.

Jason Caryl

Too many "private property keep out" signs but what I can see from the road is beautiful

Jeanine Reed

It's very pretty there. Love the mountains.

Bradly Woods

I might be a little biased because these have been my stomping grounds since before I even knew what that phrase meant. But I love it up here. Once your in the blues anything you could want is just a short drive away.

Joan Cutshaw

Driving through the Umatilla National Forest is always pleasantly enjoyable. The highway is well maintained with many scenic views from the road as well as places to stop to take pictures of the majestic mountains. Along the road are also small businesses such as a convienience store, a novelty store, and a ski lodge.

Umbrella National Forest needs a lot of work. Logging operations need to learn how to clean up after the job is done. If the forest floor is not clean, NO payment.

G S.M

Such a gorgeous place!

Christopher Reigel

Beautiful. Wish they would do more to replant the trees and beef up thr forest it's gotten pretty thin in the last 6 years from the logging on the mountain

I absolutely love camping here with my family. It's quite, peaceful, and so beautiful. I love that the campsites are spaced out enough people aren't really disturbing each other. How ever it would be nice of there were restrooms. But that's just me.

Ryan Klemmer

ATV park is awesome!

James Simpson

A great way to spend the 4th

Laura Burrus

Beautiful place to camp! Beautiful views, peace and quiet!

Laurie Meade

I was driving the scenic byways and fell in love with the views. The speed limit was generally 55mph, however, the beauty had me crawling along these quiet country roads at 40mph. The fall colors were beginning to show in mid-September. Take your time and be mindful of both wildlife and cattle along the roads.

Bruce Burns

Best place on earth, straight up God country

Joshua Harvey

Pulled off the road, drove into the forest, camped according to the dispersed camping rules, saved $100 on a motel. It was a nice night. Google asks me for the most random reviews.

Sean Brant

I didn't really get to stop and enjoy the park as much as I would have liked to, power for driving through the park was beautiful and as far as I could tell on this trip that was well maintained. There were a few Vista points you could pull off and take pictures which was nice because not a lot of parks have that option. The roads in this area are also fairly good.

Harley Hauck

If your looking for quiet and a little solitude, away from the hustle and bustle this is the place to be. Good hunting and fishing at the provided ponds. I'd give more thumbs up but I only have 2.

kevin may

I grew up running around in the Umatilla national forest! Spent a lot of time with my now deceased parents there. One of my favorite places on earth. Lots to do and see, hike, hunt, ride horses, swim, canoe, four wheel.... you’re only limited by your imagination

Clint Frizelle

BREATHTAKING VIEWS AND PEACEFUL!!!

Plenty of privately owned land open for camping as long as you clean up. Beautiful way to start a day it's wake up with the sun in top of a mountain.

Ryan Sparks

Great place for Morel's and Huckleberries

Alex Wolfe

Free camping. Plenty of amenities. Lots of good trails. Very isolated. However the views are very good, but not postcard-worthy. Great place to be alone, though. Not many people come out here. Its a semi-alpine environment with LOTS of alpine meadows and flowers.

Deri Wheeler

Great forest and wonderful roads

Terry McPartland

Beautiful place , easy access great Fall and summer ..streams, trees and wildlife

Brigothy Schofield

It was horrible. After a long day of walking boring trails and dumb hills, I ended up staying the night in the hospital. I almost died. The tiger attacked and nearly dismembered me. There were no park rangers around to help so I had to fight it off using a mix of Thai Chi and Kung Fu. Eventually I conquered it using the Wuxi Finger Hold technique. If you like living and hate tigers, do not go here!

Jeffrey Holmes

Clean and friendly environment. Very relaxing and peaceful

Stephen Salinas

Awesome place to hunt

Bryan Baker

Joe I Guess

Went mushroom hunting today. Didn't do very well. Ground temp is still too low. It was really beautiful, though. Wild flowers are just starting to pop up

Aaron B

It's big, it's beautiful, it's got everything a forest should have.

Corey Small

I grew up in Walla Walla and have spent most of my free time exploring the Blue Mountains and the Umatilla National Forest. I love it up there. Lots of hiking trail and roads to explore. Only complaint is I wish they could develop/open more OHV friendly trails for UTV and Jeep type vehicle. Something that challenged some of the local off-road community and might bring in more tourists to our small communities!

Keith Simes

Beautiful drive awesome View

Linda Cowden

Beautiful place to visit.

Jack Comish

Beautiful, diverse forest with plenty of space to get away from it all. 1.4 million acres of land owned by the American people and managed by the US Forest Service with offices in Pendleton, Walla Walla, Pomeroy, Ukiah, and Heppner. Some highlights include the fish derby at Jubilee Lake, hiking the North Fork Umatilla Wilderness, camping at Umatilla Forks campground, hiking to the Oregon Butte lookout tower, and skiing at Ski Bluewood resort. This National Forest offers rangelands, open Ponderosa pine savannahs, dense dark grand fir and Engelmann spruce forest, and rocky, windswept mountaintops. The Forest Service employees manage wildfire, forest health, outdoor recreation and education, water, wildlife and vegetation, cultural heritage, & law enforcement on these public lands.

Loretta Fogg

Open space, fresh air, remarkably low traffic for a place people travelled to see the Great American Eclipse. Friendly rangers and visotors around us.

Trevor Lofton

Amazing!! Love living here. I get to go up here whenever I want. The forest is well maintained. The trails and riding areas are amazing. Only critic I have is that there is trash everywhere. I pick up what I bring in and more but people are slobs when it comes to the mountains. Unfortunately.

Jessica Prechel

Beautiful hidden gem.

Suzanne Gray

Great time sledding in the sunshine!

Aimee Ogden

Stunning views. Absolutely peaceful and beautiful.

Emily Hagen

As a nature person this is one of the best places to go for a walk and maybe find some edibles on your way. Fungus and berries everywhere. Unfortunately where there's food there are wildlife. There was a mountain lion watching our camp after dark. Stay in groups after dark and always protect yourself. There will be animals when you enter their home. Just be careful and enjoy the beautiful valleys and peaks.

Michelle Yunker

This place is so beautiful

Bernice Garza

We used to camp up near immigrant springs for family get togethers and this forest is beautiful. Even in the summer it's nice because it's cooler up in the mountains and there's plenty of shade. Definitely somewhere I'd like to explore more of when we get the opportunity to go back.

Tammy Davenport

I love forest

Rex Pruett

Absolutely beautiful lots of huckleberrys

Sketchywhale Alw

Amazing and peaceful!

Ellen Atteberry

Found my HAPPY Place gazing out at the awesome mountain peaks and ridges. All the bright fall colors were amazing. We stood silently & thus were rewarded by the sounds of nature. The wind through the majestic trees, countless wonderful birds, chipmonks.... Even though I live in the country, away from the populace, riding up to those mountains gave me inner peace & rest from the mornings turmoil.

Mark Pollock
