I'm a native and it doesn't matter how many times I venture up the mountain or down the Clackamas River corridor it simply never ceases to amaze me. We're so lucky to have such amazing and beautiful scenery in every direction. Plenty of great spots to camp, fish , hiking pretty much anything you can think of .

Delasa Aghamirzaie

We went to the burnt lake trail and it was very well maintained and beautiful

Saoud

Super pretty. Amazingly fun to drive around. The hiking out there if you are prepared is a ton of fun and there are a lot of trails.

All that can be said is you have to go here. Too much spectacular scenery to list.

Nath Gallagher

Absolutely beautiful place to explore & drive no masher alone or with friends, just wow!

My H20 Adventure

What I expected for national park so close to a metropolis. Busy park with lots of trash. Want to change $5 to park on the side of the road because they consider it a day use area. WTF?

Ian Appel

Staggering natural beauty. There are few better feelings than the cool sting of waterfall mist on your face.

Ted Coté

Incredible example of God's Country

Darline McHarless

What not to love about Mountain Hood. Such a gorgeous beautiful area. I keep coming back time and time again. I hope we all can appreciate this beautiful area and take care of it. If you pack it in you better pack it out. Leave it better than you found it. And please no fireworks!

Laura Melton

As a native to this area, I couldn't ask for a more perfect area with access to please the most persnickery tastes! You can't list one event or place not available to your indoor and outdoor pleasures and sports. Views are spectacular. Hiking trails access the area including Pacific Crest Trail, Lost Lake, Frog lake, so many to see camp, fish, stroll. Take the mt. Hood Loop Hiway see seasonal colors, waterfalls, close up Mt. Hood Views . Government Camp is a unique town with lots of activities year round, Excellent places to eat. Go on the Wine +asting tours among the spectacular Hood River valley fruit orchards!

sandra tafta

So beautiful! We stayed one night here and we are loving it!! So peaceful and beautiful!! Definitely coming back soon!!

Autumn Bennett

One of the cleanest most beautiful hiking areas. Great section of the PCT also.

Megan Cogswell

Absolutely gorgeous. The snow was magical and it proved to be a great area to create fond memories.

Jim Blandy

Mt. Hood is such a treasure, at any time of year. So many trails, campsites, rivers, lakes, views. There are good Airbnb's in nearby towns like Rhododendron. In the summer, always check the burn rules before starting any kind of fire. Also, lately, check for news about cougars; one hiker was killed.

Vivyan Wagner

Great place to hike and many wonderful campgrounds to choose from. Beautiful scenery and lakes and streams.

Michael Shupe

A definite must see destination. Lodge is the one used for outside filming of "The Shining", skiing year around, ability to ride a loft to snow when it is 80* outside, and fantastic craft brewery locations. Beautiful drive and fun hiking - we will be back again for sure!

Jim Ferriss

Always a great place to visit and enjoy. That's why we have lived here all of our lives.

Jesse Ortiz

Great opportunity to get out and be active with the family

Dyann Blackburn

Beautiful drive through the forest over to Madras and back. I love the Oregon forests. Let's all do our part to keep them safe, clean and green. Be sure your campfires are dead-out, and don't discard burning materials from your vehicle while traveling. KEEP OREGON GREEN!

leo angelo

Driving down the Oregon State 30 historic route is a great way to experience the Columbia River scenery. Very well maintained with great views of the gorge and great waterfalls

Benjamin Ferguson

Had a great time walking the PCT through Mt Hood National Forest. Of all the 2650 miles of Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada, the area around Mt Hood is one of the easiest and best-maintained portions of trail. The views are superb and varied (though sometimes sparse) and I highly recommend this forest as a place to go hiking!

Michael Smith

Absolutely beautiful and HUGE. Dozens of interesting places to see and hundreds of things to do.

Jack P.

Beautiful forest and very scenic drive. Several pull outs for panoramic views and photos.

Prosenjit Sinha

What a hike it was from Timberline lodge to Paradise park. The view is so serene and mt hood seems to be so near.

Zak Kinnersley

Absolutely beautiful views of Mt. Hood pretty much wherever you hike. I did the Oak Trail and halfway through it was the beautiful view of the park and the mountain. Pretty much every hike will get you an incredible experience.

Amy Young

Many great lakes, waterfalls, ski areas during winter months & one has a fun park during summer months( Ski bowl). Tubing areas, great for fishing, hiking. Beautiful places. Timberline Lodge is located in Mt.Hood national forest. Government Camp has a few bars & restaurants. Many campgrounds.

Katrina Romero

We can't get enough of our own "backyard". We have explored so much of the gorge, and now we're excited to explore more of the mountain!

Deanna Iverson

Beautiful place.if you can its a must see place to go winter or summer

Eli Briard

Will Huhn

A must see if you’re visiting portland. Tons of cool hikes along the scenic byway

Luke Woods

It was the most beautiful area I have every seen! I can't wait to see it again soon. Next time we are bringing a camper though! Bring plenty of film, memory cards, batteries... Whatever it takes, heck bring a small solar panel to charge your batteries! Rope is a must! You will use rope everywhere! But get out there and walk around as much as you can and have your walkie on you Incase of an emergency.

All Right

Love to ride my bike up here during the summer. Beautiful Monarch Butterflies makes this place a tad magical and a little messy. Tons of camping spots for about $23 a night. You can reserve online or not. You can lose track of time here riding around enjoying the weather, the scenery, and of course the fresh, clean, amazing air.

Rick Dobs

The drive up us26 was nothing short of breath taking.

Kerri S

We tend to drive out into the forest & hike with our two-year-old & high-energy dog. Everyone always has a good time getting lost in Nature.

John Huff

Timberline trail was great. Challenging, but beautiful. Did it in 4 nights.

Jill Harwell

Excellent and large National Forest to explore. Countless hike that offer extraordinary views of Mt Hood, Sandy River Valley and many lakes. Hikes range for easy to challenging. Camp grounds are available with a range of amenities.

Robert Zavitz

For those wanting to ascend Mt. Hood: Intermediate difficulty. Terrain rough but manageable. Time required from Cloud Cap Inn is 4 hours up to Hog's Back at a normal pace and little snow-cover. The road up to the base of the prominence is rough, washing out, and one-lane through a burned-out forest bleached white in the sun. You'll want to ascend early in the morning. We began at about 4:15 AM to beat the crowds. Parking becomes non-existent by noon. There are multiple trails to choose from all leading to lovely areas. Download Offline Maps of the area before the trip if you decide not to stay on the main trails. Lots of small glaciers to cross, but the higher you go, the less stable they will be. The peak itself becomes very unstable in the afternoon. We witnessed rockfall and small avalanches as well as saw a crevasse open up. There's little in the way of vibrant color up there but there are lots of flowers at the time this was typed, and the plant and animal life continues up past 10,000 feet. Getting into the cloud-layer of our atmosphere is riveting. The whole day-long trip was exciting. There's camping areas on the mountain as well.

Paul Rotunno

The Pacific Crest trail at its finest. Good starting point but we didn't hike for long. I must go back

John Caruso

Excellent and large National Forest to explore. Countless hike that offer extraordinary views of Mt Hood, Sandy River Valley and many lakes. Hikes range for easy to challenging. Camp grounds are available with a range of amenities. Definitely worth a visit.

Tim Blough

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! THE FOOD AND DRINK WERE TOP NOTCH, I CANT WAIT TO GO CAMPING AGAIN.

Rachael Osmon

We went to Timberline to ski. Such a beautiful day. We always prefer to go to timberline vs other resorts because the runs are long, the lines are usually short, the staff are friendly... and the cocoa by the lodge fire is memory-making! (I almost don't want to post....it's my secret sanctuary). You'll love it!!

Scott Likely

Alpine and old growth forest, lots of hiking trails, great views, lakes, skiing, biking, the Pacific Crest Trail, and Timberline Lodge.

Ian McIlwraith

Absolutely stunning national forest with incredible scenery. The mountain itself is beautiful from all angles plus the ski lodge on the mountain is a great place to visit. Highly recommend this if you're visiting the Portland area!

Tammy Schrock

The trails and views are amazing!

Guinn Rice

This is one of my favoite places in Oregon! Wow the travel takes quite a bit to get up here but it is so worth it. We rode the ski lifts up at Mt Hood Meadows Ski Park to very close to the top. The trails were great!

Daniel Bello

It's Mt. Hood! I've lived in the area for 20 years and still haven't scratched the surface as to the trails and recreational areas that are all over this forest. Truly gorgeous- my favorite spots are mirror lake, Mt. Hood Meadows, and driving to lost lake through E Lolo pass road if you have the gear for it!

Julie Brown

Cozy cabin next to river. Lovely weekend.

Kareena Vandenberg

Went to the skyline snow park to dock. Rode our snowmobiles 80 miles and had a blast. Awsome trails and warming hut/cabin!

Lots of great things and it being free makes it all the more better!

PNW_ dragon

So much beauty so close to home. Lots of places for solitude if you take the road less traveled.

David Polehn

I loved it. The camp host was great!!! The kids had a great time.

Adam Lindsay

Beautiful place to go out and have a hike, go mudding, free lance camp, or just to drive through to get out of the house.

Chris Sheaves

Always a fun time, even if it was on the last day of the season and the snow was way too fast.

Carly Wilder

Went to White River Snow Park for sledding. Good amount of snow. Pretty busy, but we got a few yards off the main trail and created out own sled run. Bathrooms were real gross.

Ryan Scott Coons

Decided to check it out for kicks. A part of heaven on earth. Trails to hike and to just enjoy nature. We saw hundreds of waterfalls as we drove. We went when it was all frozen, but it still took our breath away!

Juanita Ewing

Beautiful hike to Ramona Falls. Start early to avoid summer heat. Some mosquitoes at the falls.

Lori Adam

Not too crowded, mellow hike with a great payoff at the end. We did it before heading to the Portland airport

M Mikeworth

The private company managing the campground s sucks. The rates are too high. The area has heavy usage in the summer but is very beautiful.

Larkin Brown

A must in the summer. Just twenty mins from Sandy Oregon. Check out the lodging before you go tho.

raymond randol

I took a hike and then a 20 minute power nap in the woods and listened to the birds. Peaceful, pleasant, powerful.

RANDY MARTIN

Its great if you like being in ax policesrate forest . clackamas county oregon is off the chain .

Jay Leon

Amazing views, beautiful nature and mountains all around. If you come here in the winter be prepared to park down the road from the Timberline lodge as it gets very crowded up there and unless you want to spend 40+ minutes waiting I suggest to park farther down. The local road service is covering the roads here with a sizable gravel to provide traction. It works, except for causing cars to smash windshields and gravel pieces get trapped in wheels/brake rotors, causing noise and wear...so be aware, drive slow and give cars in front of you plenty of room, or you will get some major cracks in your windshield. Lastly: the weather here changes rapidly so be prepared, bring warm, breathable clothes with you and pack snacks and water, just in case you get stuck in snow and have to spend a few unplanned hours there.

Tami Hawk

This place is absolutely magical!!!! I go up almost every weekend for.... well my entire life! Always a new adventure and a new trail. It's the perfect neverending story.

Brenton Clive

The entire area is beautiful and was sunny the week we went. Tons of amazing hikes throughout the national forest, it's a must see!

It is some of the most beautiful landscape on the planet. You can't not find something to do in the outdoors if you visit here

Gene Pearse

A great place to take a walk.

kristina elshoff

Camped for several nights. Chilly even on the summer time. Beautiful scenery and lots of birds singing.

Peter Carlesimo

Breathtaking natural beauty so close to home! One of the great things about living locally here in Tigard is that we sit almost midway between the Coast and the Mountains. It has been said that there is never a bad day at the beach but I equally agree that there is never a bad day in the mountains. Mount Hood and its vicinity offers an endless amount of trails to explore, to ski in, to camp in.....etc. Living here in the PNW only a year and a half, my family and I have only scratched the surface in this respect. Having lived in Colorado for a decade and a half we had the Rocky Mountains to explore. But what we love about Mount Hood is that unlike the Rockies it additionally has all of the lush greenery, waterfalls (I’ve reviewed Ramona Falls), and lakes (I’ve reviewed Mirror and Trillium Lakes). We’re so lucky to live in this area! ALL WHO WANDER ARE NOT LOST.

John Goertzen

Went to the top of Larch Mountain because we have never been there. Weird looking huts at the top and a good ol boy who told my wife and I we had to leave.

Sapphire Sunset

Beautiful forest! Precious trails.

Carol Fernandez

I love it here. It's beautiful. I wish there were maps of the trails. I think the trails are confusing since I've only been on them twice. I wouldn't go on them without someone that has experience on them.

Jeff Carlson

A great place to ride your off road motorcycle with tons of amazing views.

Salih Kuloglu

It was amazing. We had very fun, and enjoyed it there. I went there with my children and they enjoyed snow a lot.

Cory Moody

Always great to get out in the woods

Denise Barlock

We were able to make this an afternoon trip from Portland, OR. I know we didn't get to truly appreciate Mount Hood, but the scenery was amazing and it was a fantastic drive. We went there on one path and came back another so that we could see as much as possible. Highly recommend seeing this area.

Jones'n to fish fishing adventures

Beautiful lakes, trails , camping , fishing , hiking, boating. So many sites of wildlife and forest .

Jordan Taylor

Deep green forest Change sweeps over the dead of night Fall is here

S Tower

An amazing place to spend any day!

Derek Owen

Amazing as always and the tree cutting did not disappoint. We found a great tree for the kids room, but we all had a great time. That includes the dog who did not want to go outside the next day we wore him it so bad. In our opinion that is a job well done. This is all of our land. Get out there. Take care of it. And ENJOY!

Jason Richards

Great outdoor adventure s , lakes and great camping spots. Waterfalls and hiking trails.

Terry Goss

A plethora of well maintained trails, overlooks on the Salmon River, and even an underwater viewing portal. Picnic areas everywhere and a lot of the trails are paved. We hiked about 5 miles total on a Wednesday and there were very few people anywhere on the trails. Great park!

J Edwards

Iconic mountain in Oregon. So many different lakes, trails, lodges! Skiing, hiking, loafing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, photography and camping. A glorious place to visit!

Hannah Violette

Who can't love Mt.Hood National Forest? I enjoy all the boondocking areas.

William Lieberman

Magnificent views. We were fortunate to have a sunny day. Great hiking. Classic, iconic spot to go to in Oregon. Lots of places to stop, many with public restrooms (limited number with wheelchair access). Even greater to see up close than from a distance.

C.R. Lovern

Absolutely gorgeous views. If you have the opportunity to get out here do it.

David Green

One of the beutiful forests I've ever visited. What a tree size, what a flora and fauna?! You can easily loose yourself in deep jungle :D You can collect mushrooms at season. I am always careful with nature, and mounthood forest is not exception. Please take care on this wounder of nature.

paul leuthold

Fantastic getaway for a day trip or camping. A must show for all out of town family or friends.

One of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. The hike up the mountain was exciting and the views were amazing. We were planning to go to St. Helen's but it ended up being too far from where we were. Glad we didnt since about halfway up the hike cleared up to a beautiful field of floors with a great view of the mountain and its surroundings

Beautiful day out a Harriet lake..

Jered Noonan

Located twenty miles east of the city of Portland, Oregon and the northern Willamette River valley, the Mt. Hood National Forest extends south from the strikingly beautiful Columbia River Gorge across more than sixty miles of forested mountains, lakes and streams to Olallie Scenic Area, a high lake basin under the slopes of Mt. Jefferson.

matthew ludi

Beautiful part of Oregon, so much to see and do.

Matthew- Craft

Clean. Snowy. Took my dogs out to the forest to get fresh air. Nice place to set dogs loose and watch them be puppies again as they play in the snow

It's just naturally beautiful

Paul Diener

So close to Portland and beautiful falls

Urebril Sener

A beautiful hike with great sights. Not too difficult or crowded during the week.

Guillaume Dutilh

The Mt Hood National Forest is just a great place. It’s really hard to give it a specific review as there is so much variety within the forest. Between lakes you can camp at, ski resorts, waterfalls, hikes, mountains high and low, endless forest etc... There is so much to do! And if you do these stuff around Hood River or around Highway 26, there are also plenty of good places to stop at to refill your bellies with food and drinks. As a whole, Mt Hood National Forest is awesome!

Jyoti Patel

Enjoyed the hike (moderate level ) and absolutely stunning views.

Amanda Seymour

It's a mountain, of course it's amazing.

Nikki Haas

I wanted to enjoy myself, but pack it out is not part of the hikers culture there. Don't leave trash everywhere, jerks! I also saw a bunch of giant hogweed with no warning signs practically overlapping a popular trail. I think the rangers should be better stewards and place warning signs. The lake was beautiful and I'm glad we were able to visit.

T Franklin

I love this forest! So much to see and do here year round.

Kimmy Page

My family loves this place we come every summer. They have it all here! You will love it pool showers hot tub rec room even a good little restaurant, they also have everything you need to do camping the old fashioned way too!

Vitalik G

This hike was amazing. Fo yourself a favor and wake up early or do not sleep to get that sunrise!!

chasing views_

Absolutely beautiful park. Umbrella, Sahale, Little Zig-Zag, Tamanawas, and Ramona Falls are all 5 MUST SEE waterfalls here. Also, the Alpine slide is a blast! Beware, A VERY HEALTHY COUGAR POPULATION lives here and when hiking, be prepared for anything. A Portland woman was killed last year by one in this park. Other than that, it's worth the drive!

April Newton

Beautiful spot up Lolo pass bbq good food and great people to spend the day with by the river

DeeDee Neilson

Beautiful campground. Clean bathrooms and showers. Kid and dog friendly. Nice swimming pool. Free Wi-Fi and cable. Pretty good cell phone reception. Laundry, dump station, and playground for the kiddos. We will definitely be coming here again.

Bernard Bove

Absolutely wonderful. Rating nature isn't hard when the forest is wonderful. Would recommend 11/10. Go here and respect our parks.

Brandon Coleman

Very beautiful place. Cold weather this time of year so bring appropriate clothing to wear. Snow started to sprinkle there. Wonderful areas with mountain views. Normally aircraft fly near for safety but probably had to be up higher to be safe observing the area.

John James

Beautiful location, relatively easy hike to get there, few others about

Well kept by rangers. Real clean. Rangers even stopped in our campsite to make sure our fire wasn't unattended
