We had an amazing time with 2 adults and 5 children ages 10-12. We weren't sure if we could pull it off but we made it out with 8 minutes to spare. Super creative puzzles! Great introductory room for newbies! Wasn't sure if there would be any too scary or too adult elements but not a problem at all! The staff were excellent on the phone and in person. We even got a sneak peek into the other rooms before we left. We'll definitely be back!

Assassin's Deadly Game was fun. We went with friends and some other players we just met for the first time. This room was challenging because it was different from the rooms we had done before. We all helped eachother solve the puzzles and made it out with just a little time to spare. It was fun and we are really looking forward to trying more of their rooms!

The set design was fantastic. We've done Escape Rooms with three different companies and this was by far the most impressive, most detailed, and most realistic of rooms. Our room was styled as an apartment, and we were looking for an Assassin. The room was incredible- I would have thought I was walking into an authentic apartment! So much detail... Duct work, windows, plumbing, electrical, etc. Incredible, incredible job by the ownership group. We'll be going back to do a different room with our entire family during Christmas time. The staff, too, was so warm and welcoming.

From the minute we arrived, our host was engaging, helpful and funny. Everything was explained clearly and succinctly without giving away any clues. When we started the game, it was pitch black. And as soon as the lights came on, we were immediately struck with the attention to detail given to the room. It was truly an immersive experience into another time and place. There were 6 in our group and it was readily obvious that all of our individual strengths and skills would be required to finish the puzzle in time. When we solved the puzzle, we all had a strong sense of team work and high-fives all around. We were quick to recognize each others role in our success. Great team building and a truly unique and high quality group activity.

Secrets of Nibiru: The immersion of this escape was impressive. In addition to the room itself, which was very well designed and furnished, there were also light and sound effects that added immersive quality and drama. Looking forward to their upcoming rooms, and I very highly recommend Hour to Midnight to any and all groups looking for a stimulating challenge. Success rate is low, so it will press you. Think you have what it takes?

This was my second Escape Room experience and I considered it to be outstanding. The staff was very friendly and fun and they were very focused on my group having a good experience, including answering questions, providing comments, and asking for feedback at the end. The whole experience felt focused on us instead of just being another group coming through. We did "The Secret of Nibiru" which is advertised as their most challenging Escape Room. We plan to come back later in the year to do more. Hearing that escape rooms can be hit or miss, I would recommend this one to anyone seeking an Escape Room experience.

Hour to Midnight is the best escape room experience that I've ever had. The puzzles were elegant, and the traps were well mecognized, think automatically opening trap doors and moving walls. This was a great experience and we will be coming back again from california to try the other rooms soon.

I encourage everyone to support this escape room for couple reasons. First and foremost, this is the best escape room I've done out of a half dozen: the clues are intertwined with a fun story, it's very interactive and it utilizes a variety of skill sets so everyone contributes. On top of that the owners/staff are very friendly and generous with their time and knowledge. After finishing the puzzle they took us behind the scenes to the control room and gave us a peek at the new room they're designing. They also offered to let us watch friends solve the room from the control room, which we did recently. It was a great experience to see the game from that perspective and I can't thank Ed and company enough for their generosity. This is merely a side project for these folks and they put together an amazing time for my friends and family. Try it out! You will have a great time.

Booking online was so easy. We were registered and paid for the day prior. We were running a tad late and they called and checked in with us to make sure we'd make it. The place is very clean, they provide lockers and it's well organized. The room we did was The Secrets of Nibiru and we escaped! This one was pretty challenging and while we knocked it out with two people it was on the side of more challenging. The main take away was the quality of all the items and clues. Everything made sense and the thematics of the room were great. Our guide was really nice explained everything to us. I'm excited to come back and try the others out!

We completed House of Darkness today and it was unlike any escape room I have ever done. Being in COMPLETE darkness was a challenge but we escaped!! All of the rooms at Hour to Midnight are so well put together. I would highly recommend doing any of their rooms. They have 3 at this location (4th one is on the way)!

Absolutly love this company! In my top 10 favorite companies. I am an escape room junkie and these rooms where very well made. The puzzles where completely new, and their set designs are amazing. Absolutly LOVED House of Darkness. It really let's you chose your own setting, as it is pitch black. They even will show you the room with the lights on afterwards, and it is nothing like I would have imagined. And the game masters are very enthusiastic and pretty hilarious. Can't wait for more rooms!

Excellent escape room! The production design was great. No random buts of tape or "don't touch" signs like I've seen in other rooms. A little bit of an unraveling narrative. Recently completed Hour to Midnight's "House of Darkness" room (Portland, OR). It is one of my favorite experiences despite needing a bit of polish here and there (you know how new rooms are.) The experience is based on your tactile senses as 90% of the experience is done in pitch black, can't find your hand in front of your face, darkness. We ran this 4-6 person room with 4 people and wouldn't want more there unless more puzzles were added. One lock needed oil and I would have chosen different screws on one panel as it got confused with the puzzle around it. The textures spread about were amazing created a vivid picture in your head. I've never burned through a room's time so quickly. Truely was lost in the experience and never once though about how much time we had left till we got a time warning (which I thought they had made an error because how could we have been in here that long already?!) My only wish is that we had another, larger, longer room such as this so I could do it all over again and have more of it! Side note, have also done their assassin one which was a solid room. I can't wait to do their Secret of Nibiru as I've heard great things.

"The Secrets of Nibiru", escape room game was amazing! The props were authentic as it gets. It felt like something in an Indiana Jones movie. I won't give anything else away, but the effects made it feel so real. The puzzles and clues were well thought out, way beyond just a series of combo locks. I joined another group of three lovely ladies. I was curious about working with new acquaintances, but our group got right to work and gelled as a team. I'm sure it would be a great team building mission. This was the first escape room game I have played in Portland, OR. Have tried others elsewhere, but this one will be hard to top. I'm excited to play their new rooms!

This place is a blast! Parking wasn't an issue, as there is a small lot on premises. Lockers are provided for your phones, keys, whatnots before going in (and the phone chargers in the lockers? Super appreciated!). The game master Kaylee was incredibly friendly; the room I played was incredibly detailed and thought out, and was so much fun to solve! Definitely consider Hour to Midnight if you're looking for an escape room, especially if it's your first time doing one.

Did the easiest room today with a group of 8 (all grwnups) for a birthday. To be honest I expected it to be cheesy when I heard about it, but it was SO GOOD. Won't spoil anything, but the little gizmos and gadgets really make it feel real. There's enough puzzles that everybody had a chance to do something and participate. It took us about a half hour, but there's so much to do that it feels like a really busy half hour. Highly recommend this place.

I've played about 5 escape games now and this is my favorite. The attention to detail in story and set were excellent. The lighting, sound, and of course puzzles were clever and seamless. I've done both escape rooms at this location. Both rooms have a great overall storyline, and the escape mechanics are the best I've seen in Portland. I would put the Nibiru room in my top 2 escape rooms in Portland. Nibiru is hard, with well-thought out and interrelated puzzle mechanics, so bring a full team.

Hour to Midnight: The Secrets of Nibiru This review is for The Secrets of Nibiru. I'll start off by saying that we really did not enjoy the Secret of Nibiru Room, and I would not recommend playing it. I've played 60+ rooms across the US and Europe, and the rest of my team has played 20-25. However, I'm rating it 4 stars because this company still does a lot of things well, and they also have other rooms I have not experienced. Additionally, the things I enjoy in an escape room are not necessarily what everyone enjoys. I'll start with the good! Lobby: The lobby was professional and clean (which is not always a guarantee for escape rooms). Staff: Our gamemaster was professional, friendly, and attentive to our game. Set Design: The main thing Hour to Midnight has going for them is their sets! For the game we played and the peeks we had into the other rooms, the sets looked incredible. The lighting and sound design were also on point. Story: The story was interesting enough without being overcomplicated, and it came through well as the game went on. Game/Puzzles: This is where things started to go downhill. There were 3 fundamental issues: 1) A time killing puzzle that had us ripping our hair out over the tedium: This puzzle took us a full 25 minutes to complete, and it was tedius, finicky, and could only have 2 (or maybe 3) players contributing to it at once. I could literally feel my good mood and enjoyment of the game draining out of me as I realized how much time we were being forced to put into this puzzle. The puzzle could easily be tweaked to take much less time, and more puzzles added in it's place. This was the main issue with the game. 2) Scarcity of Puzzles: There was not a lot of content in this room. Usually, I don't mind this in a game, because I understand that most people don't play escape rooms every other weekend, and the number of puzzles in the game needs to reflect that. However, in a public game listed as the most challenging, which can accommodate up to 10 people, there was simply not a lot to do. In liu of puzzles, what made it hard was the time consuming "puzzle" described above, as well as... 3) Search and Find Puzzles: This game was very heavily search and find. We were a smaller group, so I will absolutely take credit for the fact that we missed several stupidly obvious finds. However, the difficulty of an escape room should not be solely based on how many annoying places you can hide important clues, and that is how this game felt. If there had been more puzzles and more variety, I wouldn't have minded the quantity hidden objects (you have to keep your groups of 10 entertained somehow!), but the puzzle designers relied far too heavily on this as a primary mechanic in their game. In conclusion: Play this game for: -a great set -some fun technogy. Do not play this game for: -fun, creative puzzles -good game design If you want to play this company, I'd suggest maybe trying out some of their other games instead.

Ken, our host was kind, welcoming and helpful. The room was solid with a great theme and glowing clues. We became very involved in the story. What a fantastic adventure! We have done quite a few rooms in the Portland area and Assassin's Deadly Game at Hour to Midnight is by far our favorite. We found the staff to be friendly and engaging and the game master was fun to work with. The room itself was highly polished with a good number of unique and intuitive puzzles. We left energized and found ourselves talking about the puzzles for hours afterward. That's a sign of a great escape room. We will be returning soon to play Niburu.

I took a group of four teenage boys (ages 15-18) to The Secrets of Nibiru escape room yesterday. I couldn't have hoped for a better experience. The boys were fully engaged in the problem solving and totally enjoying their time working together in there. It was a well thought out room with exciting surprises. The man who worked there was super helpful and friendly. I was very impressed with the entire experience.I am already recommending it to others and the boys have already begged for the chance to go back and try the other rooms.

Really liked this place. It was very well designed, clean, articulate and the back story was well represented in the room. We had six people and there was plenty for each of us to do - as well as varied enough puzzles/ activities that everyone was involved. Cool that they send you picture in email and you can see your ranking against other groups. We've done a few of these now - Hour to Midnight stands out for the technical angle inside the room and out. Clean, well organized... and fun!

Super FUN! Well thought-out puzzles, Hollywood level work in the surroundings, friendly owners and staff. This is the best escape room establishment I've been to. You can play the same game /room multiple times and its like new. Great place to go with friends and family. They have several games going currently. I can't wait until their next one is complete!

Took my daughter here for her 16th birthday. Not totally what I was expecting as a beginner to escape rooms but was pleasantly surprised and it was a really fun experience! The intro before the game was helpful but not to the extent it gave anything away. In the room, there were a lot of well thought out surprises or touches along the way. I expected something cheesy or sterile but instead, this was a fun immersive experience that made us think outside the box. We all loved it!

Probably the best escape room experience I've had so far! The staff member who helped up get ready was funny and engaging, the room was immersive and quite challenging, and everyone in our group had a great time laughing and solving puzzles. Will definitely have to come back!

Very fun place to go with a small group of friends. They lock you in a room any you have to figure out different types of puzzles to get out. They have more than one room all with different Themes.

So much fun! I came here with three family members and escaped the Secrets of Nibiru room. I have been to 2 other escape rooms in other states (CA, MA) and this was far better than both of them. I will definitely be coming back here to try the other escape room themes. Great for bonding with family, friends, or even work colleagues!

One of the highest quality, thematic rooms I've ever experienced with original puzzles, fun tech, intricate interactions, and exciting developments. The host played his part with enthusiasm and gave excellent but crafty clues. Surprising animatronics and elaborate schemes made the room challenging but exciting! Highly recommend!

We participated in the assassins deadly game beginner room and had the time of our lives as a group of five adults who have never done anything like this before! We highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys puzzles, mystery solving and endless group activities. Our host/guide Ken was encouraging and engaging with us throughout the whole experience, he added immensely to the fun and is extremely talented at his job. Days after the experience we were still talking about it and left wanting more. We will definitely return to experience the other rooms and scenarios. This is a MUST TRY experience folks.

Hour to Midnight was my first Escape Room experience. I've since brought another group to do another room here and had a blast! The staff is courteous and friendly, clearly explains the concept, and really makes an effort to assist newbies. The rooms are thematic, not too small, and provide plenty to solve in an hour. The subtle effects are believable and cool. Can't wait for more rooms to open!
