We have all the information of real people who are using the products and services of PAW OK Dog Park (Park) in the area close to the state of Oklahoma.
Right now the firm gets a score of 4.1 stars out of 5 and the score has been calculated on 431 reviews.
As you can read, its rating is quite good, and it is founded on a very high number of opinions, so we may say that the score is quite accurate. If people have bothered to rate when they've done well, it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to write evaluations when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Park is classified in the category of Dog park.
Was a really great place. Loved taking my dog there since he was a pup, 8yrs now. Always donated what I could in the donation box. Now they have made it a private park and you must pay a yearly membership to go. I don’t know the process if you are just passing thru and want to just go once, but it seems you are not welcome there at all. It’s really sad that our most financially vulnerable won’t be able to go here anymore. For that reason alone I will sadly not be back. Django doesn’t understand but I told him I will find somewhere for him to swim.
Good Park very friendly dogs and people
Many great times and memories have been had here by me and my dogs. The new membership fee is affordable, but I'm sure it is only a matter of time before they close. It is a ghost town now that they charge, because they can't keep members around. Membership seems tedious, and there are often gatekeepers and over abundant lawn work being done, making me wonder, are they wasting the membership money on watering and mowing the grass? Or even worse, hiring these rude employees? My friend and I shake our heads as we walk our dogs past the park, and let them play on the beautiful trail that runs along the river nearby.
Great dog park. Sometimes people don't follow the rules and bring small kids or dogs that need more socialization. That's when I take my pup to the gated pond area.
My dog loves this place.
Well kept. Open space.
Nice place to go wish their was more to do in the small dog park side
Nice park on a sunny day. It has swings for babies and kids and also slides and a basketball court.
Our dogs love it here and the people are always friendly.
Great place to take your dog! There is a pond in the back that is separated by a fence so your dog only gets in the water if you choose. There is a section specifically for smaller dogs so you don't have to worry about your little pup getting trampled. Very fun environment.
always a lot of dogs which is good but can be very muddy
Love this park. Always hit it up when we are in town.
$10 a month to let your dog run around in some mud and a bit of grass. Ridiculous
My dogs love it bog friendly park
Great space and great place
Nice park well keep up.
It's hot out and my dogs been wanting to swim and romp around in the water, I came here twice before a few months ago and it was awesome he loved the water but today I came and saw it was kind unusual for no one at all to be here when I walked my dog up to the gate it said had a members only sign and no way of quickly signing up for a membership eather, I also think its unnecessary for there to be a membership on a dog park... I should have read the reviews before starting my journey over here...
Good spot for dogs
Nice park clean fun place we need more great places like this in OKC
Best place to take your dog. They even have a water area for the dogs.
This is a great place to take your dog for some exercise. It's large so there is plenty of room for fido to run and they have multiple water stations that are available. It's even got a portion that will let your dog have access to water to play in.
I love bringing my dog here to play in their water section. You can even walk around the outside or the dog park (there's still a fence between you and the highway) where you can walk and have your dog off leash.
Use to be great. Until they started charging people to enter the dog park and your dog now has to be 100% nutured otherwise cannot enter. Evidently, recent reviews show everyone is feeling the same way and the only response everyone is getting is a prescripted response by the management that doesn't help. Go to the Edmond park. It is a little bit more of a drive but the atmosphere is much better and everyone seems to be more nice!
They are charging for a dog park. First dog park in the US that charges.
Nice place to take your dog. There is even an enclosed area where your dog can swim in the small pond
This place was wonderful. It had separate fenced in areas for large and small dogs and it had another fenced in area that included a pond for the dogs to romp around in. The parks had several areas to get fresh water in bowls provided by the park and many tennis balls to play fetch with. They also provided clean poop bags, to clean up after your dog, and dumpsters with lids to put them in. We loved it here and will be returning.
Closed to the public, I used to visit this park a few times a year when visiting relatives. Now that is no longer an option. There used to be 3 to 7 dogs at any time of day. Now it is abandoned. If you change the description of the location to reflect on its new status, I wii change my review.
By far our fav dog park in okc and the surrounding metro area!
My dog had a blast, there is a lot of room that she can run.
Huge plot of land for dogs to run wild and play. Nice HUGE area for them to swim in. My minpin swam all the way across the pond twice! I was a proud minpin mama. It would have been perfect if there was agility equipment.
Very confusing on how to become a member. Disappointing that you can’t even enter the park without a fob. There on a perfect afternoon / evening was not even one dog running around playing. Frustrating that prices aren’t posted and that you even have to pay a fee to use a dirt covered dog park lot
Very uppity dog park. I was told they started charging membership to keep the "black" fisherman out! Im white and thats messed up. I will go back in a couple years when its open to all people again
Nice park...lots of dogs.
This place is yuuuuuge! Pup approved
A nice park to walk around, play sports and walk dogs.
I went to my son's baseball game. I didn't visit the dog park. However it's right next to it. There was a bunch of people and their dogs there. Throughout the game there were several people show up with dogs. It looks nice and well kept.
Lots of dogs and the river is blocked off so they can play safe..
Beautiful walk. People need to clean after their animals though. The park provides waste bags. I guess people have selective eye sight
My family was in town on vacation and itit w our first time to a dog park because we don't have any where we live. It was a great place for a first experience. Wish more little dogs were there when we were so my dog could've enjoyed it more, but all in all it was a lot of fun!
My little dog enjoys her outings here.
I went to the kids playground that's near the dog park and it wasnt crowded the kids were able to have fun!
Large space. Secure. Water. Even a separate area with a pond so the dogs can enjoy a swim!
Wanted some place to take newly vaccinated pup to get some socialization but apparently they are charging a fee and theres an application process as well.
A great experience for your pet and family. Loved the swimming area for the dogs.
Since having to pay to, the are never any dogs there. The point was to socialize our growing puppy.
All of our dogs love this place, everyone keeps this park clean.
The park is busy and it's great for socializing your dog. Theres almost always people coming and going. PLEASE DONATE TO THE PARK!!!!!! they are debating on creating a membership program due to lack of funds.
My dog loved the park. It was nice they had a place for them to swim at. Paw OK will be the place I take my dog when we are in town.
My dog loves this place!
Really awesome dog park that's divided into small and big dog sections. The big dog section has some agility courses the dogs can play on. Through the big dog section you can access the pond. The pond is gated so if you don't want your dog back there then they won't get back there. The parks stay pretty clean and are well kept.
My favorite OKC dog park. Big area for dogs to play and run. There’s a separate area for dogs to swim if you want to take them there. There’s also a separate area for small dogs/puppies.
I do enjoy this dog park out all the ones I have visited in OKC and surrounding areas. Great large and small dog enclosure. My favorite part would have to be the outer trail where you can walk your dogs around the park and small lake.
Great park! You can feel safe knowing members are required to have current vaccinations and donate to help maintain the park. I enjoyed a fantastic afternoon and met some adorable fur babies here.
Great dog park, plenty of room for the smaller dogs to run in, lots of room for the larger dogs to romp and run around, and a separate fenced in pond area that is big enough for them to run and play in. There is running water and shade trees in all three areas.
$10/month membership or $100/year. Sounds like the Nichols Hills folks voted to keep out the riffraff by adding an entrance fee to a public dog park. I'd understand $10/year to help keep it functioning (like a fishing license or a road toll), but $10/month for access to a double-gated fenced area for dogs is a ridiculous classist privilege.
Hello, I just wanted to state a concerning experience my friend and I had at the park today. I have been to the park for years before it became membership only. I was not aware that it was now membership only until we got there today. I would gladly become a member if it weren’t for my experience today. We arrived at the park and a man that had a membership key let us in. We were immediately harassed by a woman with a huge purple facial deformity about if we were members, if he let us in, that she was going to suspend his membership and kick us out. I tried to explain that we didn’t know it was now membership only and how do we join? She continued to be rude to me. A nice older man told us we could stay but to make sure to join if we wanted to return. I will not be wasting money to go to a dog park that employs someone that treats people like that. She could’ve just let us know that it is now members only and let us know how to join and I would have. But since she chose to cause a negative experience for everyone and act hostile towards us, I will not be joining or returning. P.S. my dog also happens to be a registered service dog, I just didn’t have his vest on him.
This was our first time to visit. We were a little concerned about how our dogs would react to any other dogs that might be there, because this was their first time to visit a dog park. They did great! They made me a proud mama!! Lol. We will definitely make this a new habit!! The only negative thing that I have to say is this, there was feces that irresponsible owners neglected to pick up. There are plastic bags and trash cans available for cleaning up after your dogs. Please be responsible and follow the park rules.
Our Nashoba loves going and playing with all the pups and in the water
NO LONGER A FREE PARK. Still give it 5 stars. Very affordable and glad it's here for the long haul. We joined. The dog park is toward the back of Hefner Park, use the west road and all three dog enclosures are adjacent to the ball park. The pond area is gated if you don't want to mess with a wet dog.
Really just a gated yard. No activities for the dogs.
I come here on the regular and it's a fun close park to go to after a long day of work. Plenty of friendly dogs to play with. Some cons to the place would be lack of grass and occasional disagreements between dogs. Nothing you wouldn't expect at any other park. The water is shut off so if you do come bring some water for them or there is a separated lake part where they can drink or play in.
Its a great park! The only thing is the water is so dirty, that my dog was getting ear infections from it. We still go but, we don't swim.
This is a great place for dogs. Lots of room for them to run and a pond for them to swim in.
Grate place to get the dog's out of the back yard and let them run and play also has water for them to drink and a place for swimming
Every since they put a monthly fee in the place is a ghost park.
My dogs and I love this place. There is a lot of space for them to run and interact with other dogs of different sizes. I love how they have two separate spaces for little and big dogs. I bring my dogs here every chance I can.
Owners of dogs that became agressive immediately left. The park was clean and even had some balls to throw.
Small but it was okay for a day of short play for my whippet Layla
You have to pay for a dog park? This is coming fro. Someone who came from Seattle to here that is ridiculous, take donations.
My dog loves this place. There are a few owners with less than nice dogs that let them overrun other dogs so you have to watch out for that but this parks is large and very convenient for me to get to.
I am very sad to write this, my husband and I have been coming to this park for the past 2.5 years, helping clean up poo that was neglected by other owners, and donating bags and money for the park, as well as following the rules such as keeping our boys' vacinations up to date. We would come a couple of times a week and knew some of the other dog owners there that it felt like bumping into friends. Unfortunately, one of our boys needed leg surgury and was out for a couple of months, he's been all healed for a few weeks since today and thought we'd visit again. We didn't know the park was now membership only and from reading the owner's responses on here I can understand the route they went, but the price for membership for our two boys here is a bit steep for us. But the nail in the coffin was the attitude of the members. After we found the lock on the gate we were trying to find a sign of where we could become members. As we were doing this three people were leaving the park and this one older woman became very snappy at us saying members only and saw our dogs' rabies tags and demanded to know if they were up to date or if we were using old ones to get by. As we were heading back to our car another member and his dog were on their way in. We asked if it was okay for our dogs to at least say hi. His dog began growling and tried to bite the neck of the one that had been recovering. He then walked off and took his dog in the park. This is tradic, I know these changes were placed to keep the dogs safe and to keep the park running (the grounds do look beautiful) but instead we got the impression of an elitest club that even aggresive dogs can get in if you pay. With the price of membership, the hoops we have to go through of proving we keep our boys up to date on vacines feels opressive and the hostile attitudes from members, plus the place looks barren even at busy hours, we will not be joining.
Was not aware, that now it cost $100 a year to use the Oklahoma City dog parks. I saw several people walk up and walk away with their dogs. I'm really not sure how taxes don't pay for this already? Disappointing to say the least. Especially when you have a small dog that doesn't use near the entire park. Probably be going to Edmond from now on.
This park now charges $10/month or $100 a year to enter and for what? The place is a barren dust bowl without any toys for the dogs to play on. In reality, the security system they put on the gates to ensure nonmembers do not get in probably cost more to install than the “yearly” upkeep they claim to have. For the amount of times we take our dogs to the dog park a year, the fee they are charging is outrageous. I am very disappointed as this is the closet dog park to my neighborhood. We will be driving to the Edmond dog park from now on.
My Boyz
Why pay $10 monthly, to go to a dog park?? Like that's just dumb, it's a dog park.
Good dog park until they started charging 10$ a month to use the park...
Not even from there, but who tf charges a dog park
This dog park is great with a wide variety of amenities including a place where dogs can splash in the water. I also loved the hoses around the park where you could water your dog or give them a quick house down. It would be nice if the area near the water was less mud, maybe a pebble beach or something.
Its a nice place for big dogs but you now have to pay to use it.
Loved the dog park. the dogs loved the park as well. They loved to go swimming and they loved to meet the other dogs there. The park itself was clean and was nice, not too many people or dogs out that day we went. Will come back more for sure.
I'm sure it's a nice park...but I wouldn't know. I drove up from Norman after hearing about how great it was and wanted to change it up a bit. No where online did I see that they have switched to membership only. Okay, fine, I'll fill out the app and pay- oh, but there's locks on the gates so that only members can get in. And there's no same day register and pay option, or guest payment. So, yeah. Drove 30 min only to find it's actually a members-only deal without any indication of that online.
No entrance allowed if you're not a "member". You need an electronic key to open the gate. I'm visiting from out of town and saw high reviews for this place. Would have really liked a spot for my dog to run around and play. But as we were not members with a special key, we weren't allowed in. VERY disappointing. I think this a poor representation of a sense of community.
Love this dog park. There are always other dogs there in the after work hours, typically a lot of them! Plenty of grass. Really love the back portion where part of the lake is blocked off for swimming.
I love this dog park.
Great place to take your pet friend
Was visiting from out of town and wanted to take my dog somewhere to play. She had so much fun. There was water for her to swim in which she loves! There were lots of water bowls for her to drink out of and lots of balls for us to use to play fetch. There were lots of friendly people there with their dogs. She played hard and had lots of fun. It was nice to have somewhere to take her while we are traveling.
Good vibes letting the dogs run and socialize
Great place to park if you're homeless... Not sure why random cars kept parking there though.. might be how stroll near by
It was an ok park when it was free. I had given it 4 stars a year ago even though It was not cleanest place and the pond very dirty from the waste that washed down from the highway. Now that it is membership only. I would rather drive further down and go to a spot that is cleaner and better kept
Wish more owners would be watchful of their pups. This place is great, but not all dogs are meant to be socialized in this kind of setting.
Used to be a great place to take your pup. Now they charge an exorbitant fee. Stopped by on labor day expecting to see lots and lots of dogs. Not one to be seen. I wonder why.
The park has some issues with owners knowing their dogs. Almost every time we are out there is a dog that gets a little too aggressive on the dry side. The “lake” section is good for an off-leash swim, but there are wire fences that are supposed to cover the cement drainage pipes and they are often not well-secured. I don’t know if there are more on the other side but I always call my dog away from the opening. I’ve reported it to Parks and Rec several times but haven’t noticed a change. The entrance is very secure compared to the Edmond park (who’s opening to the pond is just a single gate—we’ve been accidentally let out 6 or so times). We prefer PAW OK for our swimming outings! The brick retaining walls leading to the water make for great seating while your pup splashes!
I've only been there once but I love it and so did my dog Charlie. All the other dog were so gentle. And the owners were very friendly.
Our dogs love the exercise and socializing and we love taking them and letting them run and play without overworking our joints with long walks.
Here's why I love it: 1. Plenty of parking. 2. Wide open spaces for big dogs & smaller enclosure for littles. 3. Pond area closed off (in case you don't want to deal with muddy puppy). 4. Plenty of benches for people and some with shade.
Great park for dog walking.
This place is well maintained. Everyone there is friendly. I love this dog park!
I love the energy of the dogs and people here but it is always so muddy, even with the lake closed off now. We still go. But some lore grass in the big dog pen would be awesome
Like many other reviews have stated, there is now a membership fee. The number of members must be low because the place is now
Very nice and clean. Pond are is nice.
Buddy the Jack Russell mix loves it
Great park but NOT free. Idk what changed or why but now you have to have membership.
Love it as much as my dog does.
Awesome dog park. Plenty of space and options for any dog. Well kept.
We love this place!
Dog park usage fee is now $10 a month. Other dog parks around the city are free.
Membership only? Ok I get that. But there should be a way for a one day access. This place should be delisted on Google maps.
We have all the fun on the weekends with our furry friends.
Loved coming here with my pup after moving to OKC, but apparently it’s a members-only park now. Didn’t see any indication that it would be locked to non-members until trying to come by after work today, not even on my last visit which was just a few days prior to the membership going into effect. I understand the appeal to it (checking vaccinations, having funds for upkeep, etc) but I’ve never heard of a dog park around here requiring membership. Hopefully this is worth it and the park sees some major upgrades, but I really don’t think it’s in major need of any renovations. It was great as it was. Worth it if you’re in walking distance I guess, but I’ll be using one of the other great parks around OKC from now on - all of which are free.
Great fun place to bring your dog to socialize
My pups love this park. It's a good thing they have the pond blocked off bc my Saint Bernard would run in it every time! I fully understand why they'll need to charge a small monthly fee soon, being privately owned. It's worth every penny and we'll continue to go.
I get that it was volunteered run. Just change the online aspect to reflect that you need to pay a monthly fee before visiting. No point in wasting everyones time.
A great park to bring your dog as long as they are friendly with others.
The best place to socialize your dog(s). Lots of fun to watch them play! Very relaxing. Meet great people too!
I’m not paying $100 a year for a dog park when there are several other free options all over town.
One of our favorite dog parks in the city! Very spacious, plenty of room for your dog(s) to run around and socialize. There are always a ton of tennis balls and the occasional rope available to play with. There is also a separated small dog area if your dog is under 30 lbs and a separated lake area if you dog loves to play in the water. During warm months there are two water stations, but they do close them off for freezing conditions. It does get pretty muddy after a rainy day so don't forget a towel! But if you do, there is a self service dog wash down the street. It can be very busy on weekends especially on a really nice day.
Good place to take your dog with alot of run around space. Properly secure & set up coming in & out. There also have a separate gated large size pond for those dogs who like to swim plus a long trail along the side of the park for walking purposes too. Not alot if grass so don't go on or after rainy days because Mud will be an issue.
My pup loves this park. It is big enough for dogs to run and play.
I am so disappointed that they have turned this public park into a private park for members only, and they want $10 a month! It’s outrageous. They even added locks to ensure only members can get in. Who privatizes an outdoor park??? I will be going to one of the several free dog parks around instead of wasting my money there. The Edmond one is very nice and free, as all parks should be.
Like have the have the two different sizes for small and large dogs.
My dog loves coming here! There’s a lot of room for her to run free and play with the other dogs. There’s a couple obstacle courses; I wish there were more! It’s always fun for us when we bring her. Love it here!
I’ve been taking my dog here whenever I can for years and was always happy to put cash in the donations box and always picked up after him. He loves to swim in the pond. I was really disappointed to find out we no longer have access and it’s $10/mo or $100/year. There is a lock on the gate. I don’t live close by anymore, so it was upsetting to find this out once we arrived. We’ll be going to Edmond’s dog park from now on.
Love this dog park. Always has dogs there for mine to play with and a huge water area for them to swim in and play
First off... DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VALUABLES IN THE CAR!!!!!! Two weeks ago my car was broken into, and when I went today I saw two more piles of glass like two more people got their cars broken into. The dog park is decent, not a lot of grass and people don’t clean up after their pets, but it’s a big area for them to run, and my dog loves being able to go in the water.
It was nice, I wise the storm drains were covered. I understand they are going to start charging. My dog enjoyed himself got to socialize.
really like that park, my dog loves it.
Small dogs and large dogs have a separate area. There is also a separate area which has a pond.
Great park for friendly and sweet dogs! After visiting the park for almost a year, yesterday afternoon an aggressive female dog called BELLA (mixed breed of pit-bull) attacked for the second time our dog and almost killed him as she went and grabbed him on the lower side of his neck... Back in March same dog cut our dog’s right ear and he had to go to the ER... Owner was not able to control her aggressive dog yesterday, and obviously she did not read the park rules at the entrance... is there something else we could all do to prevent this type of things to happen again?
Now requires a $120/yr membership and there were no other dogs at the park. 7/6/19
I always enjoy it and so does my dog!
Good place water is shut off right now but still great place to take you dogs water should be back on in the spring
Don't understand why this park is now members only, but there was only one dog inside the park. Lots of people came, saw you had to be a member and then left again. I thought this was City property.
Loved it before they decided to start charging for entrance to a public park. Really wish I hadn't drove 30 minutes to find that out and they should really create some sort of day pass option, we would've paid it since we were already here. Disappointing.
I take my dog Tetra to this dog park as often as I can. She loves it and I've had nothing but great experiences with the people and dogs there. Whenever there was a problem between dog the owners were super attentive to their pups and were able to break it up before it got ugly. The landscape is big enough for dogs to run and play but not so large that it's overwhelming. Paw OK is the only dog park I consistently come back to.
Have been coming for years, donations are how this wonderful dog park maintains its appeal. The park is well shaded by some trees and has a wonderful pond for your let's to play. It is gated separately so your pooch doesn't go in without you wanting them to. Love this park!! Please remember to pick up your pooches waste. They have many station for your disposal, and bags for pick up
Used to be free not paying for once a week use if that
My dog loves to go there.
Favorite place ever
Good place to take any sized dog, but sometimes there are some dogs that would like to do some commotion in the ocean. My dog wanted to just walk around and have fun but he was followed by some dog that I had to constantly push off because it tried to rock the boat. If you do go, try to bring spayed/neutered dogs only.
Whipper is learning to make friends, he loved it!
Great clean place friendly owners and handlers
It's laughable that this is a "members only" dog park. There are so many green spaces in the city, I would never pay for a membership. It's pretentious to lock a gate, have an application process, regulations and monthly memberships so dogs can socialize. Don't waste your time and money here. Take your dogs to Edmond's dog park which has always been more well kept or the many empty green spaces around Lake Hefner.
This used to be a free park. They now charge 10$ for this park. Who does that? It's surrounded by Lake Hefner Park - dozens of free parks around it. Board members were very rude and kicked us with no notice. After further research, they just initiated this rule July 1, 2019. How about a grace period or proper signage? There were none. Terrible board members. Let it shut down. A better set of board members will come next. Edmond has amazing dog parks where dogs can swim and roam.
Been here before, now apparently you need to be a member to be able to use the dog park. Dont waste your time or money here. Plenty of other good places around.
So well kept and everyone is very friendly
Great place to take your dogs!
It's beautiful and safe ❤ and there's a gated water area! I just think it's perfect
Clean and welcoming! Always a good time.
