We've got the reviews of people who know the services of Van Buren State Park, West entrance (Park) in the state of Ohio.
At present the firm has a score of 4.4 stars over 5 and this score is based on 225 reviews.
As you can read, it has an average rating is positive, and it is based on a large number of scores, so we can say that the assessment is very reliable. If there are many people who bothered to value when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to put opinions when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Park belongs to the category of State park.
Here early season...very nice sites but only electric no water hookup.. potable available...no full hook up...dump station a mile away. Good location off Interstate..
This is a good place to go walking. There are trails and a paved path. The disc golf course leaves a lot to be desired though.
Camping is fun
Nice for hikes. Good trails and wildlife. Horse trails, bike, and foot trails. The campground looks very nice though we haven't stayed in it. Equestrian camping area as well. Frisbee golf and nice play area for the kids. Plenty of picnic areas scattered all over so everyone has space. Clean shelter houses.
Quiet peaceful campground
Been camping at Van Buren for 12 years. They have made improvements to the camp area over the years which makes camping her e good. Has good trails for hiking and biking. Do not come here if you are looking to fish or boat. The lake has been hit hard by field run off. The water is so dirty that it will only sustained carp or bull catfish, not bass, crappie or blue gill. The lake at it's deepest spot is about 4 feet because of all the sediment.
Great trails for horseback riding and bike riding . Great camping sites
Nice quiet park on a Sunday. Some sites with electric, some primitive. Water spigot at park entry. Dump station at park office a mile away. Water pump handle had to be held down continually for water to flow. Septic drain hole so large, I had to hold my foot on my rv sewer hose so it did not advance down the hole. Quite a balancing act and must have caused great amusement to the private park located next to the dump station. The whole park needs an upgrade. Paid $22 + tax.
A very nice nearby park. I wish the State Parks were a little more geocaching friendly. This place could be used much more.
Pretty park, mountain bike trails were okay when I rode through. Not very cleaned up and mostly just technical trails since there are a ton of roots.
There are excellent hiking and mountain bike trails. You have to be careful when you go because there are thousands of mosquito's living in the woodland ( it's next to a marshy lake). We have enjoyed the camping, the horses and the wildlife in the area
Pool is nice, golfcart cruising was fun, ran the Traxxas boat in the fishing pond. Good times with family and friends. I'd go back again. Downside was the price, the cops in there 2 weekends in a row, the water supply issue. Still, I'd go back.
It was good today. Stayed on the trails with stone. As it dries more it will be better. Good ride with the horses. Rode from the campground down to the dam without any difficulty.
My favorite park around the area
Lake is big enough for a small kayaking adventure
Pleasant walk through the woods is the best therapy
A disc golf course runs through this park. Seems to be a decent fishing spot, and is not very crowded even during the summer. If you do come out, make sure that you pay attention to where the baskets are and avoid those areas.
I always love walking through the woods.. Lovely veiw
No heat but didn't kill us
Really n8ce place for picnics...
This park is Huge! There is playgrounds, fishing, and even a Large Frisby Golf Course set up here... And of course a Bike Trail for Me!
Love fishing here always get big cat fish
The hiking here is fun! Lots of little bridges and fun water crossings. It gets very muddy in the spring and after heavy rains, so wear sturdy shoes! Our 5 year old loves it!
Great place to hike around a beautiful lake!
Love the trails here. Proposed to my wife here.
Nice quiet campgrounds
Very nice horse camping facilities and trails. Most camper spots are for passenger side door access when backing in.
Awesome park! The trails were fantastic (but a bit wet so be prepared!) and the picnic area was clean and peaceful. Can't wait to visit again!
Nice clean campground. Was just an overnight stay on our way to another destination, but would like to return.
This state park represents Ohio poorly. Basically, the park is a small lake with a parking lot next to it. Bordering the park is a rather depressing and unsightly trailer park. Although the park lists "boating" as an activity, and the information number gives boating rental rates, nothing of the sort is available. The disc golf course is a series of disk baskets randomly place with no tee boxes.
Van Buren state park is a clean, enjoyable experience. The disc golf course is semi shaded and thus a little challenging with the trees and some water. If you're looking for a place to have a picnic, or enjoy some disc golf or fishing, then stop by and check it out.
Nice park and camp grounds
I guess four stars because the place was clean the cabin was fine nothing wrong with it except it was so hot and we didn't know there was no swimming until we got there I mean what's a lake with no swimming. They don't have showers but we knew that going in. It's Equestrian Park which sounds great until you get there and everything smells like you're at the zoo. But they did play a kids movie on Saturday night which was really nice cuz it gave the kids something to do for a little while. But other than that there's not much going on at this park. The rates were good and if the weather was a little cooler we might have enjoyed it a little more and been able to use the walking pass. Not their fault it was so hot so not five stars but 4 because I think it was worth it.
wheres the walking trails?
Very pretty scenery
Trail Run..
Awesome place
Small park but nice and convenient to 75
It's March 28, 2018, and we're happily tucked away in our 5th wheel. Water is available by a spigot..so tank up before you set up. We are in the Family loop. There are 50 amp service sites. The volunteer park host was not in the park yet. Registration is by the honour System
Great Equestrian Center nice Eastside campsite, I would like it if they had an office sign over their office to avoid confusion, but the depth of nature trails geology and Wildlife outweigh that issue.
Lots of trails
Nice plrs
Peaceful clean place
The trails are amazing, good hike
Very rugged, I love it!
Disc Golf course is alright.
Love talking the kiddos and the pups!
Nice and Peaceful
Great park only reason I'm posting is because my grandma lives there!Still it's great visit.
They should have left the campground where it was.
I love hiking and fishing here. I've noticed many improvements to this park here recently and I hope the improvements continue because this park has a lot of potential.
No swimmimg area however a good place to go camping. The. Campimg lots are small for the price tho.
Very nice and serene area
It's beautiful! Definitely worth camping at.
Nice scenery, but a lot of litter
Great place to relax and fish
Visited the park to ride the mountain bike trails on the south side of the lake. The trails were fun, although short. The trails also need better marking, but I have already spoken with the trail maintainer. I wish there was a bathroom facility with running water, but I couldn't find one. If they had a little bit nicer facility, I could see myself coming back more often since it isn't too far from home. Right off 75 make it really easy to get to and it's never too busy.
Made a lot of memories there. Nice local state paek
Very nice
Was happy to stumble upon this park a short ways off from I-75. Beautiful natural area, full of marshy ponds & quite a few hiking trails. Features a small dock where you can walk right up to and a little over the water, great for photography or just taking in the serenity of the place.
Great place, friendly atmosphere
The camp site prices seemed a little high to me but it was otherwise amazing, great for the whole family
There is a trail all the way around the lake. As a child I would walk, or ride my bike(step in spots) with my brothers. It's well kept and a wonderful place to take your children. In the fall the dam and tees are gorgeous. Truly a nature hike that includes a playground for children with the option to camp. (There is a pond to swim in)
Very quiet peaceful place to stay. Hard to find do to Google Maps directing you to the West entrance, which is the park entrance NOT the Campground entrance. If you're looking for the campground the GPS coordinate is: 41.138070, -83.619280 Happy Camping
Really muddy
Love their disc golf course!
Great place for a cookout
Nice small state Park. Shelter houses with pretty views of the lake. Small children's playground.
A favorite for camping
Great place to be. Has everything you'd need except for showers for peoplebwho camp.
Beautifal hiking trails, and peaceful environment !
Stopped midway between Columbus and Ann Arbor with kids. Was hoping that given it was a state park there would at least be flushing toilets and a sink with running water. Glad we had a container of wipes! Otherwise fairly clean just not what we were hoping for.
Looks like an awesome park can't wait to camp here this summer.
Beautiful park.
Water had an odd film from what I'd ever seen there before.
Nice place to stop and go for a walk thru the trails. A great place to do some photography also.
Beautiful park with some great trails!
They're the nicest people!! Everybody is so friendly and always a clean place
Great little park
Beautiful
A really nice place to walk some trails and great for camping if you do not like young/party crowds
Great place to bring the kids and enjoy the day. Two play areas to choose from. Places to sit and enjoy the scenery, cook food, and play disc golf. Plenty of hiking trails if you wonder, and pavilions that can be rented for get togethers or parties. We personally come here to walk/jog when we can. This little park is a gem in Van Buren, Ohio!
The park is big and beautiful.
It has water, sewer, electric. Swimming pool and pond, the pond has very nice toys for the kids to play on. The grounds are well kept. The people there are mostly friendly..
Nice hunting spot
While my family took a trip to Toledo, we made a short stop here in this park for a walk. All trails are well signed and guided. However, it was muddy, narrow and rugged. Trails are right near lake so the view is great. Many people were mountain-biking but my son could not ride his roller blade. None of its trails are paved. Also, quite small for a state park.
Beautiful primitive hiking trails.
Didn't get to see much. Will be back. To look more into it
Average. I wish I could rate it better. What is does have is a nice lake and river through the park, a nice disc golf course, and a section to camp with horses. However the park seems to suffer from being under funded.
We were checking out the campground, which has been improved since we last visited. There are new vault toilets, an outdoor movie theater and two camper cabins. A big drawback for some people would be that there is no shower house or flush toilets, but if your camping vehicle has a fresh water holding tank, there's a spigot to fill up at the entrance to the campground. The sites are not overly long, so some big rigs probably won't fit. Not all of the sites have electric hook ups. The sites on the outside of the circle have trees bordering them, giving a little bit of the woodsy feel. We haven't actually camped there, just drove through to check it out, but hope to camp there soon.
We come here all seasons to kayak and hike. Great trails especially on the creek side where the bridal trails are. Recently my fiance has been driving his rc truck here too!
Love this place in fact we love it so much we're moving over by it. From trails, fishing and disc golf what's not to love
Amazing place so peaceful
Its a nice park...they have picnic tables...I didn't see any grills so bring Ur own...they do have a shelter area with picnic tables...I didn't see any restrooms...they have disc golf...haven't fished there yet but I have seen alot of others doing so...all in all its a nice park...they also have a play area for kids.
This is great place to stop over for a night or two, but to call it a campground might be stretching it a bit. A cross between rustic and modern maybe? It does have water spigots to fill water cans etc but not on the camp sites. It has 60 campsites split between the family side and the horse side. Less than half have electrical pedestals. The dump station is at the HQ a mile or two down the road. The dump station does not have potable water. The site description for site length on the website is just wrong, so check with the ranger. There does not appear to be showers out here. That all being said it's beautiful out here. It's quiet and secluded with lots of trails. Easy on and off the highway,, the campground entrance is a mile or two east on TR218 from the park entrance. The sites are gravel and level. So dump your waste tanks and fill your water tanks before coming out!
My husband and I visited Van Buren State Park this past week. He was fishing and accidentally caught a painted turtle. We released it. It was the first time he caught a turtle when fishing!!
We had fun walking with our rc car
Beautiful
Simple hiking/biking trails. Nice scenery. Only downfall was the mud but it was expected.
Nice park good disc golf course clean bathrooms
Was dry then
good time a place to enjoy nature and in our case run RC cars
Trails need better markers, some may have recently come down with the downed trees. A muddy mess as well.
Very nice clean park
This is my favorite park in northwest Ohio for trail running. It is very common to find other hikers and trail runners who you can tag along with. The park has been very clean and kept up every time I go there. I try to visit at least once a week for trail running.
Very unfriendly camper hosts
Nice trails good camping sites, will definitely come back during season
Had a great time hiking the trails and fishing.
Nice park. Great disc golf course.
The bike trail is ridiculous it has all these ditches and when ascending and descending you pretty much have to get off your bike. A muddy mess as well
Lots to do here, nice park for the area.
Quiet camping, good trails and great memories
Clean camping spot. Relatively spacious camp sites.
Nice small campgrounds but absolutely avoid if you have horse allergies. The campgrounds and horse campgrounds are not segregated and there are horse trails all around the campgrounds.
A favorite place to be relaxing campground
The camper cabin is right next to the entrance with a view of a pile of dirt. The cabin does not have heat!! The place does not have showers! You might as well have a tent then at least you will have privacy !!! Will not return !
