We arrived at Lewis & Clark just after 5 pm, found our way to the Marina office, got checked in and received directions to our site, #49. We have a 42' 5er toyhauler with an 8' rear patio, so having a view of the lake is wonderful! 1 thing to be aware of is the fact that water is available to the site but not close enough to use easily. Because of the location of the community water spigot, we had to fill our fresh water tank at the dump station, yes they have potable water. Now for us it isn't a big deal because we have a 117 gal tank, but others should beware. We were offered another site but since we're only here for 4 nights we chose to keep our view.

Charged me 8 dollars for calling ahead and then charged me an 8 dollar vehicle entrance fee. I was told I'd have a site with water and electricity. Upon arrival the site had electricity but no water. The explanation given was I should have been told. No credit given.

Honestly the only thing keeping me from giving this place a 5 stars is the park rangers at night. I read all the reviews from several places and every site people was saying how they creap around at night trying to catch people doing things. So one night camping my family and I was conversing around the campfire not raising and trouble being quiet and respectful of the other campers and this one ranger sneaks up on our site and tells us we couldn't have a radio on after 10. We completely understand quiet time so mind you this was soo low just us around the fire could hear it if you stepped to the front or rear of our RV you could not hear the radio. The cracking of the fire was louder so honestly I am dissatisfied with how strict they are with this. People come to relax and enjoy family time and as long as people are respectful of other campers the rangers should not be this strict on the matter. But the sites are decent and the place is overall clean. But in the evening they have succeeded in making it feel like a prison or jail with lights out at 10

Great state park! One of our favorites ♥️ staff is awesome and I highly recommend!! They always have activities of some sort going on that are fun for all ages! I found them on Facebook.. best time we've had at any state park!

Super nice, friendly, serene-- and amazingly good-- Netflix streaming quality-- wi-fi. Oh and quite affordable-- $25 RV water and electricity.

This campground is one my favorite places to stay. The campgrounds are well kept and bathrooms and showers are clean. But I have to stay I was very disappointed with the rangers at night. They creep around TRYING to catch people being loud. They don't use lights until someone starts talking. They yelled at me because I was too loud on the trail (no campers near me) while walking my dogs! They also yelled at other campers because their children were laughing too loud. I get the need for quiet hours but I think creeping around trying to catch small things is a little ridiculous!

Awesome views and lots of amenities. There's a small store, fish cleaning station, restrooms close to most everything, and swim area. Staff is extremely helpful and they have some great events too.

We stayed here on our way from Canada to South Dakota on September 3, 2014. We were a little nervous driving up as we saw Williston is a boom town right now, and there is a drilling and service rig as you approach the campground. But we were very pleasantly surprised when we came into the campground itself. We stayed in site 69 with a pop up camper (combi-camp) and though there is not a lot of trees, the sites were clean with good fire pits. The park ranger was very pleasant and came to talk with us several times throughout our stay. He was from Minnesota, so he and my husband talked fishing a lot. The night we were there, we had a pretty good prairie storm. Golf ball sized hail, wind, rain and a power outage. The ranger made sure to keep in contact with all the campers and make sure we were all okay. I would highly recommend this campground.

Great place to camp with family. Trees overhang roadways and scratch campers driving through the park.

Nice clean area on the lake, and the mosquitoes didnt try to carry people away.

Very nice place. Paved level sites, lots of trees. Rangers are friendly and helpful. Camp hosts were eager to help if needed. Lake Sakakawee was beautiful. Restrooms/ showers clean. Only water and electric at most sites. Would definitely stay again!!

Had such a great time here! I would recommend tent camping because there's a little isolated area next to the lake just for tent campers away from all the RV craziness. There was a severe thunderstorm while we were there and a ranger came to our site to tell us. My necklace also fell off while taking down camp and they found it and mailed it to me. Great customer service. My very sweet lab did get kicked in the face by an angry and confused citizen while we were there, but our stay at the park was otherwise delightful.

Clean, nice and the employees are genuinely nice and helpful

We had an amazing weekend at the Lewis and Clark state park! We rented the Lewis cabin. It was very clean and had everything we needed.

Went hiking. trails were short and easy for the most part with some short moderate hills. Very few trees so watch out for over exposure to the sun and no blocking the wind. Trails were grass put my preferences are either dirt or crushed gravel. Trails are more geared towards children and not hardcore hikers.

Best tent camping around. The staff did their very best during the boom to accommodate regular campers over oilfield people. Staff is the friendliest people and they always invite the best "Camp Hosts" to stay for the summer!
